• 3Ware 9650SE RAID-6, two degraded drives, one ECC, rebuild stuck

  This morning I came in the office to discover that two of the drives on a RAID-6, 3ware 9650SE controller were marked as degraded and it was rebuilding the array. After getting to about 4%, it got ECC errors on a third drive (this may have happened when I attempted to access the filesystem on this RAID and got I/O errors from the controller). And, the "rebuild" has been stuck at 4% for ten hours now. So: How do I get it to start actually rebuilding? This particular controller doesn't appear to support /c2/u1 resume rebuild, and the only rebuild command that appears to be an option is one that wants to know what disk to add (/c2/u1 start rebuild disk=<p:-p...> [ignoreECC] according to the help). I have two hot spares in the server, and I'm happy to engage them, but I don't understand what it would do with that information in the current state it's in. Can I pull out the drive that is demonstrably failing (the WARNING drive), when I have two DEGRADED drives in a RAID-6? It seems to me that the best scenario would be for me to pull the WARNING drive and tell it to use one of my hot spares in the rebuild. But won't I kill the thing by pulling a "good" drive in a RAID-6 with two DEGRADED drives? Finally, I've seen reference in other posts to a bad bug in this controller that causes good drives to be marked as bad and that upgrading the firmware may help. Is flashing the firmware a risky operation given the situation? Is it likely to help or hurt wrt the rebuilding-but-stuck-at-4% RAID? Am I experiencing this bug in action? Advice outside the spiritual would be much appreciated. Thanks.

• Redirect request from https domain to https subdomain with only one certificate

  I'm trying to redirect users to a subdomain in server2 if they make an https request to server1. I only have one certificate, and that's installed on server2. So for instance, from (server1) https://www.example.com to (server2) https://ssl.example.com My best guess is that I will need a certificate for https://www.example.com as the hostname is encrypted inside the HTTP header so my server won't know to redirect until it's decrypted. However, I'm curious if this is possible without two certificates?

  Someone has shared a Picasa web album (Limited, anyone with the link), but I can't download it to Picasa. The following alert appears: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (picasa) isn't associated with any program. I have Picasa 3.0.0 installed on Ubuntu 11.04, I remember it saying something about registering the picasa protocol with Firefox during the installation. I have Firefox 6.0.2, and these settings are present in about:config network.protocol-handler.app.picasa;/usr/bin/picasa network.protocol-handler.expose.picasa;true network.protocol-handler.external.picasa;true Picasa is located here: $ which picasa /usr/bin/picasa Is there something I can do to make this work? • Can't find standalone Chrome Gmail client that I know exists

  I'm on Windows. A couple years ago when I switched from Outlook to Gmail (Google Apps), Google provided this awesome little standalone gmail client that was just a single-purpose Chrome install. It launched like a normal application, stayed updated when I updated Chrome. It was Chrome in a separate application that launched only gmail, stayed logged in really well, and "felt" like a gmail mail client, with the gmail interface. It had it's own little red envelope icon, it was a windows app. (I remember there was no Mac equivalent.) I found it while looking through the "this is how you get your company to switch to gmail" documentation that Google provided. I just repaved my box and now I'm looking for this thing again, and I had no idea it would be impossible to find. I've spent literally 2 hours looking, searching, googling, etc. I'm losing my mind. Anyone know how I can get my hands on this? I used it all day every day for 2 years, so I know it exists :), but I can not find it. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

  I have successfully installed centos on a virtual machine via Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2. This server has one NIC. I have created a virtual NIC, and virtual subnet, and within the virtual machine (via console) I can ping the gateway. But not google. Is there certain steps I am missing, I feel like I'm one setting away. Im not sure what other information would be useful.   Made a sad discovery today. I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. My client is in the ad business and she had a marketing competition task for me. She wanted me to visit websites of the competitors, and export the home pages as PDF. However, she wanted me to do so with embedded hyperlinks. As it turns out, Firefox (and even the latest Chrome) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS do not embed hyperlinks in PDF web page exports. Sure, there are several Chrome and FF plugins that let you export as PDF, but what these do is connect to the URL remotely, generate the PDF remotely, and then force a download in your browser to download it from a remote location. That's not good for me, though, because some of these competitor pages require an initial login. That means that all I get back on the PDF printing from these FF or Chrome plugins is a login page. Is there a way to get around this problem, to fix the broken PDF printer on Ubuntu 10.04?

  I'm currently designing a turn based game for tablets. Initially for Android with porting to iOS later considered in design. I'm having trouble narrowing down the available technologies to even know where to spend my research time. I am hoping that if I explain what I am trying to achieve someone may be able to suggest a platform and/or engine. I've looked into some of the open source Engines ( http://www.cuteandroid.com/ten-open-source-android-2d-or-3d-game-engine-for-android-developers ) and some appear to handle much of what I might require - although with a higher focus on graphics than i need. Mages looks interesting although development appears to have ceased. If I could somehow leverage GoogleApps that would be excellent. Here is what I am trying to achieve: PvP turn based strategy game over internet - minimal animation and bandwidth required Players match up online using MetaGame system MatchID created on Resolution Server and Game starts Clients have 30 second countdown to select MoveString Clients sends small secure timestamped and MatchIDed MoveString to Resolution server Resolution server looks up Move String for each player, Resolves and Updates Players status in MatchID on Server Resolution server updates Client Views Repeat until victory conditions met - MatchID Closed, Rewards earned in MetaGame There will also need to be a full social and account system and metagame backend - but this could be running on separate system(s) Tablet in Offline mode would be catalog browsing and perhaps single player AI - bum I'm focusing on the Resolution Server at this point I'm not even certain if I would be looking at an Android App or a WebApp at this stage! I want a custom GUI so I guess an app - but maybe as I have little animation a WebApp might also work. Probably some combination of both. There will be very small overhead in data between client server - essentially a small text string every 30 seconds sent to the Resolution server which looks up the Effect and applies it to the Opponents string and determines some results to apply to the match. The client view is updated minimally with the results (only 5 in game Integers tracked) - perhaps triggering small animations/popups on the client to show the end result. e.g Explosion. If you have suggestions for a good technology or platform to best achieving the Resolution Server I'd love to hear. Also if you have experience with open source Engines - and could narrow down which (if any ) might be most suitable that would be a big help. Thanks in advance

• Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) two gateways one nic

  I have Ubuntu 12.04 Server edition Two gateways, both on 192.168.0. network, let's make them 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 I've read you should be able to add second gateway into /etc/network/interfaces, that it will build out all the routing automatically, but I get "duplicate option" error. So if I have one default gateway, let's say 0.1, and a connection comes through from the 0.2 gateway, my understanding is that it still tries to respond through 0.1 gateway. Can we change this behavior?

• Windows Server 2008 R2 DNS - One IP, multiple servers

  I need opinions and examples on how to best to accomplish the setup I am looking for. I have a public-facing AD domain server with one public IP address. I have setup an external zone for example.com and I successfully have my own name servers pointing to it at ns0.example.com and ns1.example.com. I also have an internal zone for my private network at home.example.com. I am behind a router with the domain server in the DMZ. I want dev.example.com to be accessible from the outside world over https and to point to internal IP address 192.168.1.78. Likewise, I want www.example.com to be accessible from the outside world and point to internal IP address 192.168.1.79. Both dev and www servers are CentOS 5.6 VMs running inside of Hyper-V on the domain server (bad idea I know but I am limited on hardware atm). What is best way to achieve this? From what I have read and researched on Google, I may need to setup a reverse proxy but I am not sure how well that will work with SSL.

  We have a popup dialogue that requests users email address or facebook login. The page behind the popup loads, so a page view is counted. We want to measure: How many users ignored the popup completely How many users engaged the popup, but don't complete the process (we trigger an event when the user performs actions defined as "engaging") How many users completed the popup Bounce rates aren't telling because some users won't receive the popup. We are basically triggering events "PopupDisplayed" "PopupEngaged" and "PopupComplete", with labels to differentiate between email and facebook. But I don't think I can set goals to count "Users who received 'PopupDisplayed' AND 'PopupComplete'" events, so I can count how many users both saw the popup and completed it.
