How do I fire an asynchronous call in asp classic and ignore the response?

Here's the gist: I have a call I want to make in asp, and I do not care about the response. I just want to fire the call and I do not want the page to wait for the response. According to the documentation, it should look something like this: dim xmlhttp : set xmlhttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xmlhttp.Open "POST", url, true '' setting the 'asynchronous' option to 'true' xmlhttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8" xmlhttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Length", Len(XMLData) xmlhttp.send XMLData This works peachy when calling synchronously, but when I flip the ansynchronous option to 'true', nothing fires. What I can gather from the internet is that users do something like the following: While xmlhttp.readyState <> 4 xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1000 Wend Am I crazy in that this does not really seem like an asynchrous call anymore though if you are waiting for a response? putting the line xmlhttp.waitForResponse 1 right after the send will cause the request to fire, but again, I don't want to wait a second. Any thoughts?

Embeded video displayed over html

For youtube, we find solution by adding extra parameter: <param name="wmode" value="opaque" /> which resolve this issue, but what can i do to fix other video sources? Create view or SP, only if the DB contains a pattern

Hi all: I am working on a script, that needs to be run in many different SQL servers. Some of them, shared the same structure, in other words, they are identical, but the filegroups and the DB names are different. This is because is one per client. Anyway, I would like when running a script, If I chose the wrong DB, it should not be executed. I am trying to mantain a clean DB. here is my example, which only works for dropping a view if exists, but does not work for creating a new one. I also wonder how it would be for creating a stored procedure. Sending an image via POST Multipart (HTTPRequest)

I'm trying to send an image to a server, using HTTP Post Multipart. Everything else is fine, I have all the boundrys set and stuff. But what do I have to do to the image before hand? Do I have to convert it to binary? Here is the header data from the header (using Fiddler). This is what I need to upload: -----------------------------7daea2aa40c80 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="pict"; filename="pic.jpeg" Content-Type: image/pjpeg <Binary here ... or at least I think it is> .. ?????JFIF?????????C? (lots more of this I removed) Any advice?

Problem with Landscape and Portrait view in a TabBar Application

I have an TabBar app that I would like to be in landscape and portrait. The issue is when I go to tab 2 make a selection from my table then select tab 1 and rotate the device, then select tab 2 again the content does not know that the device rotated and will not display my custom orientated content correctly. I am trying to write a priovate method that tells the view what orientation it is currently in. IN viewDidLoad I am assuming it is in portrait but in shouldAutoRotate I have it looking in the private method for the correct alignment of the content. Please Help!! jQuery fadeIn fadeOut pause on hover

I have a little jQuery snippet that will fadeIn and fadeOut a group of divs over a select interval. I now need to pause this fadeIn fadeOut on hover, then resume on mouse out. Using Typeface.js within a GWT app

I am looking for some sample Java code demonstrating how to get AJAX content displayed into a custom font using Typeface.js within a GWT app. I have tried a little bit by calling the following native function native void Typeface_renderDocument() /*-{ $wnd._typeface_js.renderDocument(); }-*/; after having filled the relevant widget with the AJAX content, and after calling the following function on the widget : void applyTypeface(Widget widget) { widget.addStyleName("typeface-js"); widget.getElement().getStyle().setProperty("fontFamily", "Helvetiker"); Typeface_renderDocument(); } ...where Helvetiker is a custom font (actually available from Typeface.js fonts page (http://typeface.neocracy.org/fonts.html). But that didn't work. I am looking forward to any suggestions since I am bit stuck here. Alternatively I would be interested in an example using cufón within GWT, although I am not so keen about the replacement by images that cufón does (which is the main reason why I was trying to use Typeface.js.)

You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.<< Removing the call to concat removes the error but ends up with my wrapper not being rendered Using: Rails 2.3.5 Erubis 2.6.5 And tried this gem that helps Erubis (though 2.6.4) and Rails 2.3 play better together

How to make Universal Feed Parser only parse feeds?

I'm trying to get content from external feeds on my Django web site with Universal Feed Parser. I want to have some user error handling, e.g. if the user supplies a URL that is not a feed. When I tried how feedparser responds to faulty input, I was surprised to see that feedparser does not throw any Exceptions at all. E.g. on HTML content, it tries to parse some information from the HTML code, and on non-existing domains, it returns a mostly empty dictionary: {'bozo': 1, 'bozo_exception': URLError(gaierror(-2, 'Name or service not known'),), 'encoding': 'utf-8', 'entries': [], 'feed': {}, 'version': None} Other faulty input manifest themselves in the status_code or the namespaces values in the returned dictionary. So, what's the best approach to have sane error checking without resorting to an endless cascade of if .. elif .. elif ...?

css file not getting updated

the font of the content of my facebook app keeps getting italicized even when i've removed the italics from the css file. if i make minor changes in the css file and upload it to the server, the firebug shows the unedited previous css file and hence, the app keeps showing unformatted content. what exactly is going wrong here? i made a new css file and copied the contents of the previous css exactly as it was, and i linked it in all the files which require css. but when i upload these files to the server, facebook canvas doesn't show any css at all. i replaced the css filename with the previous one, and it works. why is this?

Disabling javascript in specific block/div (containing suspect HTML) ?

Is it, in any way, possible to disable the browsers execution of script inside a block/section/element ? My scenario is, that I'm letting my (future) users create "rich content" (using CK-editor). Content that wil later be shown to other users - with all the dangers that imply: xss, redirection, identity theft, spam and what not... django: how to interconnect various logical pieces of a webpage

Hi, everyone. I'm just starting with django, so sorry for a possibly stupid question. Imagine, I have a webpage with 3 logical pieces: content, dynamic menu, banners. It seems ok to me to have a template with something like: {% include "banners.html" %} {% include "menu.html" %} {% include "content.html" %} But then, how do I do it? Every piece has its separate logic in a separate view in its' separate app. How do I trigger execution of all three views and render all three templates? P.S. Is there a sourceforge-like site for django apps where I could take a look at how people are doing stuff in real projects?

Holy grail layout with 100% height

I am trying to make a css layout that looks like this http://oi53.tinypic.com/o0v0vp.jpg The CSS term for this type of layout is known as the "holy grail" I think. The problem I am facing is that when I use layouts and solutions I find online I do not get them to work properly as I want them to. What I am trying to do is make a page that, regardless of content, will have the footer at the bottom of the browser and the columns stretching down to it. So far I have only seen pages that have the footer placed where the content stop, the result is some blank space under the footer. If anyone could help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated!

Converting Flash frame to JPEG

We are attempting to convert a flash frame into a JPEG without using the Flex SDK or other adobe tools. Right now, we have a flash file that passes binary data over to a .cfm page, which uses the following code to change the headers: <cfset var = GetHttpRequestData()> <cfcontent type="image/jpeg"> <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="attachment; filename=#url.name#"> <cfoutput>#var.content#</cfoutput> This code is producing some strange results. Basically, it renders as an image, and I can "right click - Set as desktop background", but I cannot save the image any other way, as it simply saves the contents of the HTML Source. So, questions: 1) Is what I'm trying to do even possible? 2) If so, any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Problem with HTML inside Javascript

I am trying to implement 'time-ago' feature in my website using a JQuery timeago plugin. The problem is that the code above doesn't work, but if I put it within this div it works fine. I think it is maybe because this jquery plugin is applied before generating html by javascript, but I am not sure. Any ideas?

Return tiff file from outputstream on JSP

I am using a JSP to display a single TIFF file. The flow is as follows: I am given a PDF to convert to a TIFF. I feed a 'black box' API the PDF in the form of a File object and an OutputStream (I am currently using a ByteArrayOutputStream but that can change as needed. The 'black box' converts the PDF to a TIFF and saves the result to the OutputStream. I use out.println(outputstream) to spit out the TIFF. The problem is that I am getting a text stream instead of a displayed image. I have used the following head/meta tag: <head><title>PDF to TIFF tester</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Script-Type" CONTENT="image/tiff"></head> <body> But that does not change the end result. Any help?

shopping cart software mysql ajax

Hi, I am working on a shopping cart(open cart) software and have this question. I am not familiar with mvc framework. What i want to know how to show content(mysql) inside a div when you click on a link. There will be 8-10 links and clicking on each should fetch its corresponding products. So for example category 1 | category 2 | category 3 show [products from category 1] when clicked on "category 1" and same way for the other two. the problem is the url for each link will have the category id so when clicked it will fetch its own products inside this div. Can someone please guide me with an example available online? looking for some thing that can dynamically fetch contents from mysql inside this div. content change is based on the category id in the url of the links I am clicking on. regards

Unicode and PHP - am I doing something wrong?

I'm using Kohana 3, which has full support for Unicode. I have this as the first child of my <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> The Unicode character I am inserting into is é as in Café. However, I am getting the triangle with a ? (as in could not decode character). As far as I can tell in my own code, I am not doing any string manipulation on the text. In fact, I have placed the accent straight into a view's PHP file and it is still not working. I copied the character from this page: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/00e9/index.htm I've only just started examining PHP's Unicode limitations, so I could be doing something horribly wrong. So, how do I display this character? Do I need to resort to the HTML entity?

Flash caroussel xml parse html link

Hello I am trying to modify a carousel script I have in flash. Its normal function is making some icons rotate and when clicked they zoom in, fade all others and display a little text. On that text I would like to have a link like a "read more". If I use CDATA it wont display a thing, if I use alt char like <a href="www.google.com"> Read more + </a> It just displays the text as: <a href="www.google.com"> Read more + </a>. The flash dynamic text box wont render it as html. I dont enough as2 to figure out how to add this. Parsing Complex Text File with C#

Hello, I need to parse a text file that has a lot of levels and characters. I've been trying different ways to parse it but I haven't been able to get anything to work. jquery event get array of objects

I have few nested DIV elements. For example: <div id='id1'><div id='id2'>content</div></div> I attach event to DIVs event handler using jQuery: $('div').click(function () { //some code }); There will be two events when user click on content. So there will be two simultaneous events. Is it possible to get inside event handler array of objects (DIVs) what have click event? May be it is possible using other framework but jQuery?
