  • European signs in img src problem

    Hey. I recently encountered a strange problem on my website. Images with æ ø and å in them (Western European signs) Won't display. The character encoding on all sites is "Iso-8859-1" I can print æ ø and å on the page without problems. If I right click the "broken image" and choose properties, it displays the filename with the european signs. (/admin/content/galleri/å.jpg) the code for img looks like this <img name='bilde' src='content/{$_SESSION["linkname"]}/{$row["img"]}' class='topmargin_ss leftmargin_ms rightmargin_s' width='80' height='80'> (Wasn't allowed to post images so the code is without starting and ending brackets) Made 4 files: z.jpg æ.jpg ø.jpg å.jpg Only z.jpg shows up, they are the exact same jpg. The images are uploaded using php code, which works, uploads to the right directory and has no problem with the european signs. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

    While trying to come-up with a servlet based application to read files and manipulate them (image type conversion) here is a question that came up to me: Is it possible to inspect a file content and know the filetype? Is there a standard that specifies that each file MUST provide some type of marker in their content so that the application will not have to rely on the file extension constraints? Consider an application scenario: I am creating an application that will be able to convert different file formats to a set of output formats. Say user uploads an PDF, my application can suggest that the possible conversion formats are microsoft word or TIFF or JPEG etc. As my application will gradually support different file formats (over a period of time), I want my application to inspect the input file instead of having the user to specify the format. And suggest to user the possible formats of output. I understand this is an open ended, broad question. Please let me know if it needs to be modified. Thanks, Ayusman

    I'm using Aloha Editor and I'm able to save/edit content without any problem. Editor saves content in SQLite database (db.sqlite). I know where the file is and I see that's getting bigger while I'm adding more text to it. But when I transfer that fille using filezilla to local computer and I open in notepad I see only: ** This file contains an SQLite 2.1 database ** I've tried to use few programs but it always says that database that unable to open. The programs I've tried: Sqliteman-1.2.2 and sqlitebrowser_200_b1_win.

    In MainWindow the commandbinding works fine. In UserControl1 it doesnt work. Note the datacontext is set correctly as is evidenced by the content of the button which is the result of a binding. I am not trying to bind the command in the usercontrol to a command in mainwindow or any other such trickery. Am I missing something here?

Warning: ZipArchive::extractTo(C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite/wp-content/themes/mytheme//styles\mytheme/Thumbs.db) [ziparchive.extractto]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite\wp-content\themes\mythem\uploader.php on line 17 The thing I can't quite figure is that I don't see a thumbs.db file in either the zip archive or the destination folder that was created (the upload still processes, I just get these errors).     I'm using VS 2010, vb.net and asp 3.5. Also I would ideally like it to replace h1-h6 tags so maybe it needs [1-6] or something?

    Is it possible for me to supply a client with a snippet of HTML which contains a reference to a javascript file that I host? They want to paste this HTML into their CMS, so that when their page loads, it'll load our content. I was under the impression that there was cross domain security preventing this from being possible. What if, instead of linking to the JavaScript, I gave them the snippet of HTML with the JavaScript already included so instead of <div> <!-- link to js --> </div> I gave them <div> $.get(/*url to my content*/); </div> Would that work?

  • Display/Hide part of a list

    Hi I have an (unordered)list (generated by a repeater) of items. However, I'd like to show the first three items, and have the rest hidden by the main content div. When a button is pressed, I would like the list's div to expand, pushing the main content div down and showing the rest of the list. I was thinking of using slideDown(), but that closes the entire div ( and I would like to show the first 3 items of the list). What would be the best way to achieve an effect like this? Is there a plugin that can easily show X items of a list and the display the rest upon request? Thanks

    So I am using this to fix PNG transparency on background images in IE6 ul li a { background-image: url('/NewSite/Content/Images/Sprite.png'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 0 -48px; background-image: none; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src=/NewSite/Content/Images/Sprite.png, sizingMethod='crop'); } This works great, however I have run into a problem when trying to implement this with a sprite. The fix ignores the positioning and renders as if the position was top right. Is there a way to force background position or a better way to do this. I would prefer to not use JavaScript or change to gifs. Any help is appreciated!

    Hi everybody, My question is I think quite simple but I don't think the answer will be... I have quite a lot of content to have in my application to make it run properly, and I'm thinking of putting all of it in a database, and distribute it in an embeded database with the application in the market. The only trouble is that I have no idea of how to do that. I know that I can extract a file .db from Eclipse DDMS with the content of my database, and I suppose I need to put it in the asset folder of my application, but then how to make the application use it to regenerate the application database?   • Which is more efficient/faster when calling a cached image?

    Hi, i made an image resizer in php. When an image is resized, it caches a new jpg file with the new dimensions. Next time you call the exact img.php?file=hello.jpg&size=400 it checks if the new jpg has already been created. If it has NOT been created yet, it creates the file and then prints the output (cool). If it ALREADY exists, no new file needs to be generated and instead, it just calls the already cached file. My question is regarding the second scenario. Which of these is faster? redirecting: header('Location: cache/hello_400.jpg');die(); grabbing data and printing the cached file: $data = file_get_contents('cache/hello_400.jpg'); header('Content-type: '.$mime); header('Content-Length: '.strlen($data)); echo $data; Any other ways to improve this?

Edit: Andres Jaan Tack suggested a solution based on one thread per file, and I want to be sure I got this (thus this is the fastest way) : One thread per entry file reads it whole and stocks its content in a container associated (- as many containers as there are entry files) One thread calculates the linear combination of every cell read by the input threads, and stocks the results in the exit container (associated to the output file). One thread writes by block (every 4kB of data, so about 10 lines) the content of the output container.   • iPhone webapp: my ressources don't get cached

    Hello, First of all, I'd like to say I'm not using any off-line feature from HTML5. I have a web-application which runs on the iPhone. When viewing it from safari, everything works quite well. But when I launch the application from the home screen (to remove the navigation bar), it can be really slow. I checked the logs in Apache and it appears that Safari does a good work to cache the resources (css / js / images), with Apache answering "304 Not Modified" when needed. However, when the web app run as a "real" application (navigation bar hidden), those resources doesn't get cached and Apache the content has to be transferred over and over again (response code 200 Ok + content), resulting in a significantly slower page load. How can I prevent this behavior? Do I need to always run my webapp inside Safari, even when it's launched from the home screen? Thank you!

  • silverlight vs ASP.NET MVC

    I'm debating whether to use Silverlight 2.0 vs ASP.NET MVC for a web application. The web application will be a subscription free service marketing all age groups. It's important the source is highly testable, but also with the Web 2.0 movement a graphical web application is important as well for competitive reasons. I'm assuming silverlight is better than the ajax helpers/MVC graphically, but foundation-wise testing is better/easier with MVC. Possibly an MVP pattern with Silverlight could increase the testability of the source. Could anyone elaborate on the pros/cons of each technology and recommend one or the other based on the above? (addition 9/22/08) In regards to allowing search engines to index the site, using either technology it will utilize a backend database whereas a lot of the content will be dynamically generated. Based on some of the comments, when we talk of the searchable content would the home page of the application if written in silverlight be searchable? Would I be able to get the site to appear in a google search?

  • How do I save a file generated by an OS X Dashboard Widget?

    I've got a web app that I'm porting to an OS X Dashboard widget. The web app generates some data on the client side using JavaScript, and then, when the user wants to save it, sends it to a server-side script which relays the data back with the Content-disposition: attachment; HTTP header, triggering a save-file dialog in most browsers. I've tried duplicating this in the Dashboard environment. The Widget simply disappears. I don't know, but I suspect that it may be actually navigating to the unfamiliar content. So, how do I trigger a "save file dialog" -- or, failing that, use any method at all to save the data the Widget generates as a file?
