  • Do entity collections and object sets implement IQueryable<T>?

    I am using Entity Framework for the first time and noticed that the entities object returns entity collections. DBEntities db = new DBEntities(); db.Users; //Users is an ObjectSet<User> User user = db.Users.Where(x => x.Username == "test").First(); //Is this getting executed in the SQL or in memory? user.Posts; //Posts is an EntityCollection<Post> Post post = user.Posts.Where(x => x.PostID == "123").First(); //Is this getting executed in the SQL or in memory? Do both ObjectSet and EntityCollection implement IQueryable? I am hoping they do so that I know the queries are getting executed at the data source and not in memory. EDIT: So apparently EntityCollection does not while ObjectSet does. Does that mean I would be better off using this code?     I am working on a web applicaton. And what we also create is something that could be described as inline editing. Just to portray thing I am trying to solve I use example of Facebook post. You have post like. Steve Jobs added 5 new photos Steve Jobs is link that redirects to his profile so in HTML, that would be: <div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div> But what I want is the whole post "block" to be clickable although I want only that name to appear to be link. Normally in HTML logic would say to to this: <a href="stevejobs/" title="#"><div class="post-block"> <p><a href="stevejobs/" title="#">Steve Jobs</a> added 5 new photos.<p> </div></a> But this isn't semantically correct. Quick look to HTML 4.01 or any other standard says something like this: Links and anchors defined by the A element must not be nested; an A element must not contain any other A elements. How to create it semantically correct other than using javascript and defining div:hover state for the whole "div anchor"?

  • Address family not supported by protocol exception

    I'm trying to send a couple of values from an android application to a web service which I've setup. I'm using Http Post to send them but when I run the application I get the error- request time failed java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol. I get this while debugging with both the emulator as well as a device connected by wifi.   • Google Social Graph API, working as intended?

    Hey, I'm experiencing some problems with Google's social graph API. It seems that for some parameters passed to 'otherme' nothing is returned. I'll use Robert Scoble's profiles as an example (as he's a guy sure to be everywhere on the web). If I query: http://socialgraph.apis.google.com/otherme?q=http://twitter.com/scobleizer&pretty=1 I get results, as expected. However, if I query: http://socialgraph.apis.google.com/otherme?q=http://delicious.com/scobleizer&pretty=1 Nothing is returned, even though 'http://delicious.com/scobleizer' is listed in the previous results... Any thoughts? Thanks

  • facebook graph api does not return all feed items on facebook page

    at the time of this question, if you go here: http://www.facebook.com/realplayer you'll see six posts down, I have posted a photo with a message of "#highfive Cincinnati, OH" but if you to either of these: http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/feed http://graph.facebook.com/realplayer/tagged the JSON that is returned seemingly includes everything on the wall, except for MY post. there is another photo post from someone else down below mine, and it is showing up (and both my photo and his photo are in the "Fan photos" section) obviously, since I can see everything with these links already, it appears that access_token is not a part of the equation... BUT, some more info: if I use an access_token from a session that isn't me, I can't see the post in the JSON if I use an access_token from MY logged in session, then I DO see the post in the JSON so I'm very confused. if everyone in the world can see those posts on the wall without even authenticating, then I expect all of them to come back in the graph api as well. anyone have thoughts on this? I am aware of the "manage_page" permission... which I can use to get a list of accounts and special offline access tokens for those pages... and that's something I can explore... but it seems like alot of work when my post seemingly SHOULD be there in the graph

  • Poll database using jQuery/Ajax

    Hi guys, I am trying to use jQuery (latest version) & ajax to poll a mysql db every x seconds, post.php does a simple search query on the table and limits to 1 row. (eg SELECT id FROM TABLE LIMIT 1) I've got some other jQuery UI (using v1.8) code that displays some modal/dialog boxes on the screen, simply put if post.php returns something from the db I need to initialise the dialog to pop up onto the screen. I've done all the popup stuff I am just having issues joining all these bits together - i've added some pseudo code of how i expect this to work.     Hello. I use mod_rewrite/.htaccess for pretty URLs. I'm using this condition/rule to eliminate trailing slashes (or rather: rewrite to the non-trailing-slash-URL, by a 301 redirect; I'm doing this to avoid duplicate content and because I like URLs with no trailing slashes better): RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^\.localhost$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] Working well so far. Only drawback: it also forwards "multiple-trailing-slash"-URLs to non-trailing-slash-URLs. Example: http://example.tld/foo/bar////// forwards to http://example.tld/foo/bar while I only want http://example.tld/foo/bar/ to forward to http://example.tld/foo/bar. So, is it possible to only eliminate trailing slashes if it's actually just one trailing slash? Sorry if this is a somewhat annoying or weird question! Thanks.

  • WordPress page is listed in "Posts" but appears on site as a "Page", What gives?

    I've seen this on a few sites now and its puzzling me. The page will be listed under the "Edit Posts" listing, however, when I click on "View Page" to see the live post, its being served out as a "Page". I can tell this by viewing the source and the body tag is... <body class="page page-id-37 logged-in"> If its were actually a post, the body tag should be <body class="single postid-63 logged-in"> I've seen a "post to page" and a "page to post" plugin that will convert between pages and posts, however, this site has NO plugins other than the wordpress defaults (akismet and hello dolly). I'm stumped.

  • Get controller method caller (3rd party webservice)

    Is it possible to retrieve the URL of a 3rd party webservice calling my controller method? Things like Request.Current.Url refer to my own URL (/someController/someAction/). The 3rd party webservice is sending HTTP POST data to my /someController/someAction and I wish to send back a HTTP POST message to the caller of the method, the 3rd party webservice, without using return Content["some response"] which will force me to exit the method. Since the answer is plain text I would like to send it using HTTP Post. What I actually try to do is respond to the calling webservice without exiting my method (return Content() will exit) so I can call other methods to process the data send to me by the webservice. I want to first tell the webservice I received their stuff and than process, in this way when a processing error occurs the webservice at least will not resend old data. Is there another way to do this than building your own HTTP post?

  • Heroku: Postgres type operator error after migrating DB from MySQL

    This is a follow-up to a question I'd asked earlier which phrased this as more of a programming problem than a database problem. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2935985/postgres-error-with-sinatra-haml-datamapper-on-heroku I believe the problem has been isolated to the storage of the ID column in Heroku's Postgres database after running db:push. In short, my app runs properly on my original MySQL database, but throws Postgres errors on Heroku when executing any query on the ID column, which seems to have been stored in Postgres as TEXT even though it is stored as INT in MySQL. My question is why the ID column is being created as INT in Postgres on the data transfer to Heroku, and whether there's any way for me to prevent this. (i.e. something equivalent to what="1-f"). Is there a way to do it? Other suggestions in R other than using Hmisc are also very much welcomed.

    I have web log files and I was having a lot of trouble, being new with perl. I just need a script to find a count of each of the images that were found. I was able to list them but I'm unsure of how to just get a count, say something like "There were x jpgs and x gifs viewed".
