  When presenting a view controller that has toolbar items, is it possible for the toolbar to slide in with the view controller (i.e. slide in from the right) as opposed to it sliding from the bottom? In the view controller that is being presented, I've got the toolbar being shown within the -viewWillAppear: method, but the toolbar is being slid up from the bottom of the screen as opposed to it looking like it belongs to the view controller. - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:NO animated:YES]; ... }

  I have window that contains a table on screen, now I want to attach a widget to that table I use gtk_table_attach(GTK_TABLE(table), label, ...) the function is correct and it runs without any error but table does not respond to that line I mean there is no change on my table, I think I need something to tell that table update it self but how? note= that line is inside a callback of a signal and I am sure that signal runs note2= I do not want to destroy window for that note3= I use gtk+ and pygtk note4= I am sure I attach that widget to a correct position ( it is free)

  I have a localized string which needs to take a few variables. However, in localization it is important that the order of the variables can change from language to language. So this is not a good idea: NSString *text = NSLocalizedString(@"My birthday is at %@ %@ in %@", nil); In some languages some words come before others, while in others it's reverse. I lack of an good example at the moment. How would I provide NAMED variables in a formatted string? Is there any way to do it without some heavy self-made string replacements? Even some numbered variables like {%@1}, {%@2}, and so on would be sufficient... is there a solution?

I managed this part but now I want the scripts to be able to call functions in my program.   Greetings, I have just starting migrating to WLS 10.x and have noticed that the thread name [%t] for WL is quite verbose and more informative than I need for my deployment needs. Ultimately, I only care about the thread ID but WL gives me this:    [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' ~ Does anybody know if there is a way in log4j to write a custom filter that will allow me to override PatternLayout so I can parse the WLS Thread Name to just output the thread ID which in this case above is 0. I'd rather extend then customize as it makes upgrading libraries so much easier. Thanks :) - JsD

• Creating a Group of Groups in Django

  I'm creating my own Group model; I'm not referring to the builtin Group model. I want each hroup to be a member of another group (it's parent), but there is the one "top" group that doesn't have a parent group. The admin interface won't let me create a group without entering a parent. I get the error personnel_group.parent_id may not be NULL. My Group model looks like this: class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) parent = models.ForeignKey('self', blank=True, null=True) order = models.IntegerField() icon = models.ImageField(upload_to='groups', blank=True, null=True) description = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) How can I accomplish this? • Is there an optimal way to render images in cocoa? Im using setNeedsDisplay

  Currently, any time I manually move a UIImage (via handling the touchesMoved event) the last thing I call in that event is [self setNeedsDisplay], which effectively redraws the entire view. My images are also being animated, so every time a frame of animation changes, i have to call setNeedsDisplay. I find this to be horrific since I don't expect iphone/cocoa to be able to perform such frequent screen redraws very quickly. Is there an optimal, more efficient way that I could be doing this? Perhaps somehow telling cocoa to update only a particular region of the screen (the rect region of the image)?

• How to view existing data in Core Data?

  Well, may be this question is silly, but I couldn't find a way (except programmatically). I built a project (for iPhone OS 3.0) which uses Core Data. The xcdatamodel file shows the schema description, but I want to see the data in tabular form (like the management studio for mssql server or phpmyadmin for mysql). Is there any way (except coding)? What is that? Also, which file (in disk/device) those data are stored into? [ I built the tutorial (from apple) on Core Data, named Locations. They used this line somewhere in the code: NSURL *storeUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[self applicationDocumentsDirectory] stringByAppendingPathComponent: @"Locations.sqlite"]]; But, I did not see any "xxxxx.sqlite" file in project location (nor in the disk).]

  I have the following controller test case: def test_showplain Cleaner.expect(:parse).with(@somecontent) Cleaner.any_instance.stubs(:plainversion).returns(@returnvalue) post :showplain, {:content => @somecontent} end This works fine, except that I want the "stubs(:plainversion)" to be an "expects(:plainversion)". Here's the controller code: def showplain Cleaner.parse(params[:content]) do | cleaner | @output = cleaner.plainversion end end And the Cleaner is simply: class Cleaner ### other code and methods ### def self.parse(@content) cleaner = Cleaner.new(@content) yield cleaner cleaner.close end def plainversion ### operate on @content and return ### end end Again, I can't figure out how to reliably test the "cleaner" that is made available from the "parse" method. Any suggestions?

  Hello another stupid question regarding leaks and also NSURLConnection. How do i release it? Is it enough if i release in the following 2 methods? (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection Because in instruments it shows me the line where I alloc my connection as the source of leaking. OK I don't get it. After the following code my urlConnection has a retain count of 2. WTF? NSURLConnection *urlConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest: urlRequest delegate: self]; This is the line that instruments points me to. I find this very weird.

(Update: just like in algorithm, we know there are sorting problems, shuffling problems, and we know some solutions to them. This question is aiming at the same thing). For example, ones I can think of are: Get a list of Employees and their boss. Or one with the employee's salary greater than the boss. (Self-join) Get a list of the most popular Classes registered by students, from the greatest number to the smallest.   I have an array of users that's sorted in descending order based on total_points. I need to find the rank of each user in that array. The issue is that more than one user can have the same total points and, thus, the same rank. For example, three users could be in 3rd place with 200 Points.   I am looking at several projects, all with roughly the same fucntionality. Some instruments collect some data (or control some functionality). They commmunicate by Internet (Etehrnet/wifi/GPRS/sasatellite) with a databse server which stores the measurements and provides a browser based means of qeurying the data, prodcuing reports, etc (and possibly also allows control of the remote equipment). Can anyone recommend a good book describing an approach to developing such a software architecture, keeping it generic, which tools, languages. test methods, etc to use? (note to self: ask a similar question about possible existing frameworks)

  I'm trying (as a self-learning exercise) to create a Clojure macro that will generate code to apply a function to a sequence of integers and sum the result, e.g. f(0) + f(1) + f(2) + f(3) This is my attempt: (defmacro testsum [func n] `(fn [x#] (+ ~@( map (fn [i] `(~func x#)) (range n))))) However something seems to go wrong with the x# gensym and I end up with two different versions of x and hence the function doesn't work: (macroexpand '(testsum inc 3)) gives: (fn* ([x__809__auto__] (clojure.core/+ (inc x__808__auto__) (inc x__808__auto__) (inc x__808__auto__)))) This is pretty much exactly what I want apart from the different 809 and 808 versions of x..... What am I doing wrong? I thought that the auto gensym was meant to create a single unique symbol for exactly this kind of purpose? Is there a better way of doing this?

Not sure why. `objectLoader:didFailWithError:]:` unrecognized selector `sent to class 0x123608` How did i find out what is 0x123608? • Sharing a database connection with included classes in a Sinatra application

  I'm converting a part of a rails application to its own sinatra application. It has some beefy work to do and rather than have a million helps in app.rb, I've separated some of it out into classes. Without access to rails I'm rewriting finder several methods and needing access to the database inside of my class. What's the best way to share a database connection between your application and a class? Or would you recommend pushing all database work into its own class and only having the connection established there? Here is what I have in in app.rb require 'lib/myclass' configure :production do MysqlDB = Sequel.connect('mysql://user:password@host:port/db_name') end I want to access it in lib/myclass.rb class Myclass def self.find_by_domain_and_stub(domain, stub) # want to do a query here end end I've tried several things but nothing that seems to work well enough to even include as an example.

• Why does UITableViewCell have a contentView property?

  What's the point of this contentView property? I mean: Why aren't all the subviews just added to self? Let me get that right: Every cell is a view (UITabvleViewCell is a UIView subclass). And this fat view has another fat view with same bounds sitting on top of it, called contentView. That contentView then carries all those other subviews. Now why didn't they save that extra chunk of memory? Is there any genius logic behind this decision? Would love to understand the reason for this.

  Hi folks, i created an additional IBOutlet UIView. at the same time i place the IBOutlet UIPicker view in additional view. Give connections and add Addtional view as subview to main view. As [self.view addsubview:addtionalview]; I write this code in one button click event. Unfortunatly i got additional view in button click but it did n't show UIPicker. whats the wrong. I already have Two UIPicker view in main view. How can i add UIPicker view in added view. Thank u in advnace.
