• Need to hide displayed div when I show others

  I am stuck. I have a page with 3 buttons, the 3 buttons do a couple things - they change the style of a div, and they also show/hide a content div. The changing of the div style works fine, but I am having issues with the content div. If you land on the page and click the "Our Brands" tab, then click the other 2 tabs, it works fine. If you land on the page, and click "What's New" or "About Us" first, then the show/hide does not work correctly - it does not until you actually click on "Our Brands." http://www.adriancollins.net/clients/kennys/ Any help would be appreciated, I am a designer first, a developer about 9000th. • Generating cache file for Twitter rss feed

  I'm working on a site with a simple php-generated twitter box with user timeline tweets pulled from the user_timeline rss feed, and cached to a local file to cut down on loads, and as backup for when twitter goes down. I based the caching on this: http://snipplr.com/view/8156/twitter-cache/. It all seemed to be working well yesterday, but today I discovered the cache file was blank. Deleting it then loading again generated a fresh file. The code I'm using is below. I've edited it to try to get it to work with what I was already using to display the feed and probably messed something crucial up. The changes I made are the following (and I strongly believe that any of these could be the cause): - Revised the time difference code (the linked example seemed to use a custom function that wasn't included in the code) Removed the "serialize" function from the "fwrites". This is purely because I couldn't figure out how to unserialize once I loaded it in the display code. I truthfully don't understand the role that serialize plays or how it works, so I'm sure I should have kept it in. If that's the case I just need to understand where/how to deserialize in the second part of the code so that it can be parsed. Removed the $rss variable in favor of just loading up the cache file in my original tweet display code. I'm thinking it has something to do with writing a blank cache file over a good one when twitter is down, because otherwise I imagine that this should be happening every ten minutes when the cache file is overwritten again, but it doesn't happen that frequently. Please check this site This menu works with all other latest Browsers. But not with IE 6 & 7. I know IE6 don't support hover except anchor. So before I was using Whatever Hover. • linked list problem (with insert)

  The problem appears with the insert function that I wrote. 3 conditions must work, I tested b/w 1 and 2, b/w 2 and 3 and as last element, they worked. But b/w 3 and 4, it did not work. It only display up to the new added record, and did not show the fourth element. Efficiency is not my concern here (not yet). Please guide me through this debug process.   Hi, So i use PopupControlExtender (to edit some of the fields) inside ListViewControl which itself is embeded inside an UpdatePanel. The problem is as follows whenever you cause partail postback the popup panels are created client side outside the updatepanel. And you get more clientside controls with the same clientside ID. When you postback with popup panel the server side control eg. • How to Use Images as Navigation with innerfade Slideshow?

  I am very new to JavaScript and only have the most basic understanding of how it works, so please bear with me. :) I'm using the jquery.innerfade.js script to create a slideshow with fade transitions for a website I'm developing, and I have added navigation buttons (which are set as background-images) that navigate between the “slides”. The navigation buttons have three states: default/off, hover, and on (each state is a separate image). I created a separate JavaScript document to set the buttons to “on” when they are clicked. The “hover” state is achieved through the CSS. Both the slideshow and the navigation buttons work well. There is just one thing I want to add: I would like the appropriate navigation button to display as “on” while the related “slide” is “playing”. My first site is 1000 pixel wide, and the second will be 1200. First big difference. My menus are dinamically generated by my php code. It checks on my databases if there is another button or it is over. These buttons can be added or removed directly online. Another big issue is the browser compatibility. • Legacy non-dpi-aware application resolution scaling?

  Our environment prominently featuers an outdated but absolutely mission-critical Win32 application that is not dpi-aware. It is optimized for an 800x600 display. Most of our users now have 17"-20" displays with native resolutions ranging from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050. However, they still operate these displays at 800x600 because the text in this legacy application is otherwise too small. Of course, it also means that nothing quite fits on the screen in Office 2007. Most of our workstations still run Windows XP, but some are on Windows 7 and there are more to come. About one-third of our users run the app remotely via MS Terminal Services, and the remainder run it locally. Is anyone aware of any method that could be used to scale this specific application to about 170%, so that it would fill a 1280x1024 screen, without affecting other applications that work best at the display's native resolution? I know how to do this in Mac OS X, but I have never found a way to do it in Windows. Of course, this ideally would be something that we could push out via Group Policy. I suppose we even could create a custom MSI package to re-deploy the legacy application with some sort of display virtualization layer, if such a thing exists.

• Skype performance in IPSEC VPN

  I've been challenged to "improve Skype performance" for calls within my organisation. Having read the Skype IT Administrators Guide I am wondering whether we might have a performance issue where the Skype Clients in a call are all on our WAN. The call is initiated by a Skype Client at our head office, and terminated on a Skype Client in a remote office connected via IPSEC VPN. Where this happens, I assume the trafficfrom Client A (encrypted by Skype) goes to our ASA 5510, where it is furtehr encrypted, sent to the remote ASA 5505 decrypted, then passed to Client B which decrypts the Skype encryption. Would the call quality benefit if the traffic didn't go over the VPN, but instead only relied on Skype's encryption? I imagine I could achieve this by setting up a SOCKS5 proxy in our HQ DMZ for Skype traffic. Then the traffic goes from Client A to Proxy, over the Skype relay network, then arrives at Cisco ASA 5505 as any other internet traffic, and then to Client B. Is there likely to be any performance benefit in doing this? If so, is there a way to do it that doesn't require a proxy? Has anyone else tackled this?

  Hey, I have a problem running an application on environment with WebSeal. It is a web application with Java server that contains many parts that are replcaed within the page according to user input. For instance - a form called Outer.jsp may contain a form:options combo-box (by spring-forms), that uppon selection of an option, a certain Div is updated with a content produced by a jsp and fetched by an Ajax call (the ajax impementation in the client is done by Prototype JavaScript framework 1.5.1.2). Let's call the content fetched by ajax - Inner.jsp So Outer.jsp is fetching Inner.jsp, which in turn uses js functions in files included by the Outer.jsp. This, I think, is where my problem starts - Inner.jsp is not familiar with any of the functions included in Outer.jsp. And so, almost any operation performed by Inner.jsp is failing miserably. Needless to say - this works perfect when running on environment without WebSeal. Note that the scripting is enabled in WebSeal junction (with the -J option). I also see that the content returned by the Ajax call includes a document.cookie added by WebSeal (not sure it matters to this problem) Can anyone assist? Thanks! Lior

  I need some clarity and maybe a fix. I'm using this plugin to authorise who views our Jenkins ci server: https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Github+OAuth+Plugin As I understand it anyone who is auth'd to view one of our github project's can also login to our Jenkins box. This works I thought it would also allow the person logging in to only view the Project that they have GitHub permission on. For instance. Three projects on GitHub (A,B,C). Three builds on Jenkins. User 1 has Git access to all 3 projects (A B C). User 2 has Git access to only 1 project (A). When logging into Jenkins: User 1 can see all 3 projects ( this works ) User 2 can only see project A The problem is User 2 can also see all 3 projects when they should only see 1! Have I got this correct, and if so is this a bug? I have the settings set in Jenkins configuration Github Authorization Settings. Here we have some admin users. One organization. And none out of the 4 checkboxes ticked. (User 2, is not an admin, is not part of the org). • Best way to mount 3-4 monitor like this?

  I just purchased 2 HP 2009m widescreen monitors, they are not the biggest thing on the block, they are like 19-20" and are only around 150-200$ so I think they are perfect. I bought 2 of them just to make sure I like them, with the full intention of purchasing more to make either a tripple or quad display. I now I am stuck trying to decide, if I purchase 1 more to have a tripple display I would then like to just wrap the third monitor to either the rigth or left side, I could do this without a mount most likely pretty easy. If I decide to go with 2 more monitors to make a quad display then I would like to add the 2 new monitor directly above the 2 that I have now. So it would make a grid of 2 wide and 2 high. I have posted a few photos belwo to show them now with the 2 I have, you will notice that I have them tilted inwards to make more of a "V" shape instead of them being side by side and "STRAIGHT". Now if I decide to make thegrid of 4 then I will need to buy or build a stand to hold them all tightly together (no whitespace or gap between the grid of monitors) but I would like to still have both rows invert to make the slight "V". Do you know of any existing stands I could purchase that would hold all 4 monitors without making them be STARIGHT without the "V" shape? Any tips appreciated please, also they do have holes in the back for VESA. a few photos... (they are from iphone and lighting made them note very good but you can see what I am working with here)

• Windows 7 Media Center PC not displaying MKV files properly

  Does anyone know why Windows Media Center wouldn't correctly display a 16x9 video? I just upgraded my home-built HTPC from Vista Ultimate (hey, it was a giveaway) to Windows 7 Ultimate - clean install. After that, I installed the Divx7 beta (to get .MKV support) and AC3filter (so I could HEAR the MKV files). Previously, under Vista Ultimate (32 bit), I had Arcsoft's Total Theater Pro for playing Blu-Rays and MKV decoding under Media Center. Now when I play a 720p 16x9 MKV file, I get some 'letterboxing' - like it's halfway between 4x3 and 16x9 - with the aspect ration looking alightly squished as a result. Here's the wierd part. If I use the Media Center connection software in my XBox 360 - it plays perfectly, filling the 16x9 screen edge-to-edge, just like Vista's WMC software USED to. Of course, beats the network up because the XBox goes to the HTPC, the HTPC goes to my WHS machine to fetch the data, it comes back to the HTPC, gets transcoded and streamed back to the Xbox. I'm running the latest drivers for an NVidia card (as fetched by Windows 7). I have no idea WHY this is because if I play "ordinary" (i.s. SD) Divx files that are 16x9, they play just fine, scaled right up to my screen's edges. It puzzles me as to why the same machine that properly converts the bits for the Xbox can't display/scale them properly for the attached display. Mind you, Windows Media Player exhibits the same symptoms. Ideas?

• Monit - script not being executed as expected

  I'm working on a Windows 7 machine, having a VM for Ubuntu (image disk: 12.04-desktop-i386.iso). On the VM I installed Monit 5.3.2, and configured some processes and applications. So I created a script to run my application. This application should display some content on the screen (Im basically displaying two images, using Feh). The thing is: if I call my script through the command line, it runs ok, and display the images. But if I run through monit, it seems to be running ok, but it doesn't display the images.In the case I try to debug it (remote debug), then I can see the images. So I was supposing this could be some kind of configuration, but didn't find out what (even using the option -I wou'ldn't work). • How to solve SocketException: Permission denied: connect

  I recently encountered a problem that is giving me a headache and I need help ... The System consists of two subsystems, called A and B, each running on a standalone Tomcat instance and currently running on the same machine. A invokes B's service via Spring httpInvoker (i.e. over HTTP). B system also invokes the other system's services via HTTP. Symptoms: the system starts to run and appears to work normally for around 10-15 days; the system will run for a period of time after an exception: org.springframework.remoting.RemoteAccessException: Could not access HTTP invoker remote service at [http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/remoting/call]; The nested exception is java. net.SocketException: **Permission denied: connect** when the exception occurs, the system continues. This happens always, not only occasionally. (It looks like some resources are exhausted, but CPU rate < 5%, memory < 15%, network < 5%). when the system call between A and B fails, the B system call over HTTP to an external service also failed, with the same exception. Restarting both Tomcat services makes the whole system work properly. So repeatedly following steps 1 - 5, I have not found the root reason. Environment: windows 2008 R2 tomcat7.0.42 x86_64 oralce-jdk-1.7.0_40 Any ideas?

• Where can I find a useful multi-language Unicode font for Mac OS X?

  On every browser I've tried (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Omniweb), when I go to a web page containing somewhat less-common characters, I can't see the glyphs. For example, on the Wikipedia page for the Bengali Language, the very first line contains a string of squares; on Windows, I can see the Bengali writing. Firefox does display code points on the Coptic Language article, but not Bengali. I'm not sure why. On Windows, as long as I have the Arial Unicode MS font installed, these characters fall back to that font and display properly. Mac OS X doesn't seem to ship with a font containing these Unicode characters (it has Arial Unicode MS, but it must be a subset of the Windows version because Bengali doesn't display in that font). I checked on my Snow Leopard DVD and I installed "Additional Fonts" from the Optional Installs package, but I'm still missing many languages. Is there any good, free font that contains a large collection of languages? I know creating fonts is difficult and time-consuming, but it seems like including at least one font like this with operating systems should be standard by now.

• Vista gets stuck in an endless loop while booting

  I put my laptop to sleep last night, and when I woke up this morning... it didn't. So I tried to reboot, and everything went fine until it got to the Vista splash screen, where it's supposed to display the logon. Here, it hits an endless loop: Display the cursor with the blue spinny thing that replaced the hourglass, for 5-10 seconds Display "Please wait..." for about half a second Screen flashes to black, then quickly back to the Vista splash screen Goto step 1 The whole time, my hard LED is on almost non-stop. I can boot into Safe Mode... sometimes. Sometimes it'll load all the drivers, then sit there for about 10 minutes, spinning the hard drive non-stop, then reboot with no warning. I tried booting to Last Known Good Configuration. Didn't fix anything. When I've managed to get into Safe Mode, I tried running CHKDSK. Didn't fix anything. I tried running System Restore to each of my last two restore points. Didn't fix anything either time. I ran a virus scan. Didn't find anything. I tried calling the manufacturer (Alienware), only to discover that my warranty expired last freaking week and now I can't get it fixed without paying exorbitant sums of money. I'm about at my wits' end here. Has anyone seen this problem before? Does anyone know how to fix it? Does anyone know a solution that does not involve reinstalling the OS and losing an entire year's worth of program installations, Windows Updates and configuring and tweaking things until it's working just like I want it to?
