• Error installing Network driver

  I'm tring to install NetLimiter 3 (3.0.0.10, x64) on my Windows 7 x64 machine. At the driver installation step, I'm getting an error: Error 0x8004a029: Couldn't install the network component. (InstallNdisIMDriver) UPDATE 2010-09-20: I received a response to my support request: Hi Simon, It seems that problem is rather on your system than in NL3. Too many networking applications (VPN, Virtual computers) are installed on your machine and they are preventing NL3 from proper installation. In order to install NetLimiter 3, try to disable/temporarily remove these apps. Several users had the same problem and shuffling with adapter and networking software helped them. • Reducing latency for different geographic regions on Amazon Cloud

  I have got an application which has three components Application code : Amazon EC2 US-EAST-1 instance Application images, and other static data : Amazon S3 with CloudFront Application Database : Amazon RDS In short i need something like Cloud Front for EC2. In long, people using this application from a different region say middle east will have faster static content downloading due to Cloud Front but there would be a lot of latency in communicating to EC2 instance. I want to use a budget friendly way of enhancing this. Launching Amazon Instances in every region that offer is sure a choice, but isn't really cheap, so would try to avoid it unless its last resort. Also say if my clients also need to communicate to the RDS database directly, is there some kind of solution which gives that kind of functionality mentioned above, but for RDS?

  I'm running a partition with bitlocker on a Windows 7 Ultimate machine, which contains secure data that I have to recover infrequently. Unlocking it to access the data is obviously no problem, but is there a way to re-lock the partition when I'm done?   I'm hoping to get some suggestions for possible Wireless Access point/router models which will allow us to have two separate networks. We run an internal network on 10.x.x.x IP range where we have shares and other network resources for which we would like to have our regular users access. However, we would also like to offer a separate wireless network for guests which ideally would be on 192.168.x.x and these users would not be able to see any of the resources sitting on the 10.x.x.x network. Anyone have any recommendations on single devices that might be able to get the job done? I was looking at the Linksys E4200 and it seems to support what I'm looking to do... any others? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  I have multiple tabs open in IE 8 (OS is Windows 7 Home Premium). Let us name the tabs as T1, T2, T3, ... , T7 I am currently on T7. What do I do if I want to toggle between Tab T4 and T7? Alt + Tab - Switches between different apps that are open. Ctrl + Tab - Cycles through the different tabs that are open in the current Window. What I want is something like we have in Visual Studio. Irrespective of how the documents are opened, a Ctrl + Tab always toggles between the last two files opened. Is it possible in IE 8.0?

• Upgraded to 13.10 now clock settings are all disabled and clock does not display

  I've upgraded to 13.10 and now I don't have the standard menu clock, which I need for work. I checked and 'indicator-datetime' is installed. I even uninstalled/reinstalled that applet with no luck. Also my "clock" settings under System Preferences are all disabled. I can't change anything. Does anyone know how I can get the old menu clock back? Alternatively is there another menu clock app I can download? Thanks for the responses I've restarted several times and that didn't fix the issue. I just ran the 13.10 update today. But I ran it again a few minutes ago. I got about 200KB in random updates. Features it needs to have: should NOT display the keyboard layout on the screen! should give detailed statistics which actually measure progress (for which key do I have the highest error rate, graphs showing how typing speed improved over time, etc) should enable me to actually learn touch-typing in about one long weekend were I don't do much else than learning to touch-type. it would be very good if it were possible to load a text-file and the program will use words from the text-file for the exercises as well My goals are: at least same typing speed as I have now but which touch-typing, want to be able to look at the screen only when typing P.S.: EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm using Win 7. And I know what the Dvorak and Colemak keyboard layouts are, but I'm not interested in them. My question was with respect to standard US keyboard layout.

• Software to automatically download a file from FTP and then rename->replace existing file

  Hi. We pay a news agency to provide us mp3's of hourly news bulletins. They put the mp3's on a FTP server just about 10 minutes before every hour, with files named after date and time (example: 02012010_1600.mp3 or similar). I need to find some solution to download only the latest modified file from the FTP server, rename it to news.mp3 and replace the previous news.mp3 that was created. This should prefferably run on a Windows 2008 Server, as a service if its possible. Anyone have suggestion for software?

• Is this kind of Design by Contract useless?

  I've just started informatics university and I'm attending a programming course about C(++). The programming professor prefers to teach very few things (in 3 month we have just reached the functions topic) and connect every topic with a type of programming design that somehow is similar to the Design by Contract design. Basically what he ask us to do is to write every exercise with comments Pre-conditions, Post-conditions and Invariants that should prove the correctness of each program we write. But this doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, ok: maybe writing down your thoughts prevent you from doing some mistakes, but if this is all an abstract thing, then if your program intuition is wrong you'll write your program wrong and then you'll also write pre and post conditions wrong probably auto convincing your self about its correctness. Most of the time, both me and other students have written programs that seemed ok and that had correct pre and post condition too. But at the moment of testing it was just completely wrong. I had some experience before this course of programming and I had written a lot of line of code before and I found myself comfortably with just writing a program and unit test it. It take less time to accomplish and is less "abstract" than just thinking about what every single piece of your program should do in every case (which is kinda like mentally testing it). Finally, all this pre and post conditions takes me like 80% of the total time of the exercise. It's harder to think about putting down this pre and post correct than to write the program itself. Since we are like the only course of the only university probably in the entire world that makes this things, could someone please tell me how should I manage this thing? Am I right thinking that this doesn't worth anything? Should I change university? (there are like double of the people attending that course and it seems that usually very few people passes the exam the first year). Should I convince myself it's method is right?

• How do I choose which Ethernet Adapter to bridge in VMPlayer

  I am running vmplayer 3.1.0 on Ubuntu. The host machine has four ethernet adapters that are configured to run on four different subnets. I need to run four VMs each with a single ethernet adapter bridged onto a specific one of the physical ethernet adapters. Does anyone know how to do this? Am I simply exceeding the capabilities of vmplayer and have to go to one of the other vmware products, if so, which one. Note that I have no need to create additional VMs, these are VMs that are being given to me by companies that want us to develop software for their products.

  Hi, I'm working with Drupal for the first time and trying to figure out how to change the Menu item names through the Administer Site Building configuration menus. I have logged into the Drupal admin site and navigated to Administer/ Site Building/ Menus, select the menu item and click Edit, change the Title from , 'About' to 'About Us' however when loading the site page it still says 'About' Please pardon my lack of understanding on drupal, i am somewhat familiar with joomla another CMS however I just need some pointers in the right direction as to how to edit the links and rename them within drupal. the links are not images as far as i can tell while viewing the source and properties on the links. • HOWTO run Wordpress site along with Tomcat web aplication on the same server

  I am building a solution where the CMS part of the site (i.e. About US, Contact etc) will be run on Wordpress & the private pages will be a Java-Servlet based stack run on Tomcat 7. Both of these "apps" have to run on the same server for budget reasons, at least for now. What I want to know how to make this happen (via configurations, setups etc)? So that whenever users come to public pages they will be served content from Wordpress but for private pages (here I am assuming there will be a URL pattern differentiating this) then it will be served by Tomcat I am assuming here that I will be using Apache as the server for fronting the wordpress requests. Also it is an Ubuntu 12.04 server.
