• WinForm Plugin system

  I have created a c# 2.0 WinForm application which loads dlls, searches for an interface, and then loads the interface as a plugin. I am loading the plugins in the same appdomain as the main application because they have a GUI which I am directly loading into the application as a tab item. I would like to load them in their own app domain, but do not think it is possible because of the GUI. I would also like to monitor them to tell if they are not responsive and unload them. Is this possible? If I upgrade to WPF are things any simpler.

• How to print non-ASCII characters in Python

  I have a problem when I'm printing (or writing to a file) the non-ASCII characters in Python. I've resolved it by overriding the str method in my own objects, and making "x.encode('utf-8')" inside it, where x is a property inside the object. But, if I receive a third-party object, and I make "str(object)", and this object has a non-ASCII character inside, it will fail. So the question is: is there any way to tell the str method that the object has an UTF-8 codification, generically? I'm working with Python 2.5.4.

• Typesetting a large matrix in LaTeX

  I have a 3x12 matrix I'd like to input into my LaTeX (with amsmath) document but LaTeX seems to choke when the matrix gets larger then 3x10: \begin{equation} \textbf{e} = \begin{bmatrix} 1&1&1&1&0&0&0&0&-1&-1&-1&-1\\ 1&-1&0&0&1&1&-1&-1&0&0&1&-1\\ 0&0&1&-1&1&-1&1&-1&1&-1&0&0 \end{bmatrix} \end{equation} The error: Extra alignment tab has been changed to \cr. tells me that I have more & then the bmatrix environment can handle. Is there a proper way to handle this? Also it seems that the alignment for 1's and the -1's are different, is that also expected of the bmatrix?

  I'm trying to generate some C# code using xslt - its working great until I get to generics and need to output some text like this: MyClass<Type> In this case I've found that the only way to emit this is to do the following: MyClass<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text>Type<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&gt;</xsl:text> Where: Often it all needs to go on one line, otherwise you end up with line breaks in the generated code In the above example I technically could have used only 1 <xsl:text />, however usually the type Type is given by some other template, e.g: <xsl:value-of select="@type" /> I don't mind having to write &lt; a lot, but I would like to avoid writing <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text> for just a single character! Is there any way of doing disable-output-escaping="yes" for the entire document?

• Visual Artifacts in Visual Studio 2010

  I'm using VS 2010 on Windows Server 2003, running on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. VS 2010 runs fine, except for persistent and random screen re-drawing issues. Samples of these are here. These artifacts occur as the mouse moves over items that highlight on a mouse-over event, while scrolling, and when switching tabs. VS 2008 has non of these issues, so I assume that it is related to VS 2010's use of WPF. Could it be that my video card or driver is not up to the task of rendering WPF? Some other WPF applications (not Silverlight) also have some of these screen repainting problems. I have tried a variety of settings in System Properties--Advanced--Performance Options--Visual Effects, and in the related "Advanced" tab, Processor Scheduling is adjusted for best performance of programs. • Proper way to setup a UISegmentedControll on UINavigationController UINavigationBar all inside UITab

  The title pretty much describes it all. The problem being the handling of the UISegmentedControll callbacks (button presses). If the content type of all of the nested views was the same (i.e. some UITableViewControllers) then I could just switch dataSource'es and reload the tables. However this is not the case, I have 3 very different views in there that allow further drilldown / interaction based on the NavigationControllers. So the way I have this set up ATM is that there is a "container" class that I put all of the UINavigationControllers in. They all share the same and one UISegmentedController and I redirect the callbacks to the container view controller. This does not feel too good at all. Additionally there is a problem when the user taps on the tab bar icon, the navigation controller pops to root which is ... the empty container view. Here's a picture of what I want to achieve:

• Using only alphanumeric characters(a-z) inside toCharArray

  Below you will find me using toCharArray in order to send a string to array. I then MOVE the value of the letter using a for statement... for(i = 0; i < letter.length; i++){ letter[i] += (shiftCode); System.out.print(letter[i]); } However, when I use shiftCode to move the value such as... a shifted by -1; I get a symbol @. Is there a way to send the string to shiftCode or tell shiftCode to ONLY use letters? I need it to see my text, like "aaron", and when I use the for statement iterate through a-z only and ignore all symbols and numbers. I THINK it is as simple as... letter=codeWord.toCharArray(a,z); But trying different forms of that and googling it didn't give me any results. Perhaps it has to do with regex or something? Below you will find a complete copy of my program; it works exactly how I want it to do; but it iterates through letters and symbols. I also tried finding instructions online for toCharArray but if there exists any arguments I can't locate them. • Run Windows XP on a usb drive virtually on Windows XP?

  I am sick of not being able to run and install certain applications on my work computer due to admin restrictions (eg: Adobe AIR) . I have heard of smaller versions of Windows running on a usb thumb drive and have looked into it but can't find anything on running windows virtually from a usb drive. I would like to be able to login to this particular computer, insert my usb drive and then open up another version of windows installed on the thumb drive while still being able to use the windows I logged in on (literally be able to alt+tab between the main desktop and the virtual desktop from the usb drive). Is this even possible? For further clarification: The version of windows has to be Windows XP and there is no other option available for what I want to do. Looking forward to a response.

• Wifi and 3G same time

  For my App I need Data from both, a local Network and the Internet. The local Network (Wifi) has no connection to the internet so I have to use the mobile connection (3G for Example). But whenever I connect to the local Network, 3G stopps. After asking the Samsung Service, there is no way to change that in the UI. But they couldn't tell me, if there is a programmable Interface for that. There is a mobile access point inside, so there is a way to connect a Wifi device to the Internet (which means that both, a wifi and a 3G connection is possible the same time in that way). But for my App the phone/tab has to connect to the existing Network and use the 3G for Internet. So this is my question here. Is there a way to connect to an existing Network and using 3G for Internet the same time?

  Hi, I have some trouble using JNDI since it accepts only 7-bits encoded parameters. I am trying to change an LDAP entry using JNDI with the following code : Attribute newattr = new BasicAttribute("userpassword", password); ModificationItem[] mods = new ModificationItem[1]; mods[0] = new ModificationItem(DirContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, newattr); context.modifyAttributes("uid=anID,ou=People,o=MyOrganisation,c=com", mods); If my password contains only ascii characters, it works perfectly, but if I use a non-ascii character, like "à", I have this error message : javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - The value is not 7-bit clean: à]; My ldap supports those characters so I guess it comes from JNDI. Does anyone know how to fix that? Am I supposed to convert my parameter? How can I do that easily? Thanks

  I have a table view that I am customizing and I am adding a UILabel as a subview of the contentView, and I want the number of lines to be relatively consistent. I set the numberOfLines property to be 3 so it can't go more than that, but there are still some that overflow onto the 4th line. If it overflows, I want to add a a trailing ... How can I figure out if it overflows? I've tried truncating at different character counts of my string, but since I am using lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap the number of characters doesn't really predict the number of lines. Is there a way to find out the number of lines your UILabel is using?

• Recieving server broadcast on mobile in real time

  I have to write a simple mobile application that is able to recieve broadcast from a server, connected using GPRS, over a secure SSL connection. The amount of data mobile need to recieve is very small (about 100 character string for a single broadcast and maximum 10 broadcast per minute) I need to display it on screen and generate a alert sound (and vibrate the device). Client need not to send anything back to server. (ofcourse at the time of intialization the client app need to send some data for authorization) The target mobile plateform is symbion S60 and Blackberry. How can i do this? What tools, SDK and Third party framework (if needed) i should use? I am familier with java and network programming but not for mobile device.

  Write a program to determine whether a computer is big-endian or little-endian. bool endianness() { int i = 1; char *ptr; ptr = (char*) &i; return (*ptr); } So I have the above function. I don't really get it. ptr = (char*) &i, which I think means a pointer to a character at address of where i is sitting, so if an int is 4 bytes, say ABCD, are we talking about A or D when you call char* on that? and why? • JNI unsigned char to byte array

  I'm working with a C++ library that stores image byte data in an array of unsigned characters. My jni function returns a jByteArray (which then gets converted to a BufferedImage on the java side), but I'm not sure how to fill the jByteArray from the unsigned character array (if it is possible). Can anyone provide a snippet for this last part to basically do this: // size is the size of the unsigned char array const int size = 100; unsigned char* buf = new unsigned char[size]; // buf gets passed to another library here to be populated jbyteArray bArray = env->NewByteArray(size); // now how do I get the data from buf to bArray?   I am trying to parse this xml document in which a newline is required for certain fields and must be inserted into the database with the newline. So how can I get a newline to hold from xml when entered into a database and then output with the newline still?

Additionally I will need to write a small bignum library, and so when searching for a convenient representation for bignum I came across this [specification][1]: struct { int sign; int size; int *tab; } bignum; I will also be writing a multiplication routine using the Karatsuba method. So, for my question: What base would be convenient to store integer data in the bignum struct? Note: I am not allowed to use third party or built-in implementations for bignum such as GMP.
