  If I have a cscript that outputs lines tothe screen, how do I avoid the "line feed" after each print? Example: for a = 1 to 10 print "." REM (do something) next The expected output should be: .......... Not: . . . . . . . . . . In the past I've used to print the "up arrow character" ASCII code. Can this be done in cscript?

• IAR Embedded Workbench MSP430 and *.lib files linking

  I was assuming that it was a really simple task but I did not find anything relevant or my mistake. So putting my problem here i.e. I have some project for MSP430 which is actually in code composer studio. I have to run this whole code into IAR embedded workbench now. There are some library files(*.lib) that are also provided with the project and that should have to be linked to build the project. After little modifications code is compiling fine but I am unable to link the libraries and getting linker errors. I worked on IAR with avr but very very little just to test some sample codes. I did not find the option where to mention these library names and their respective paths. I checked out the linker tab but I am not getting any clue to link these .lib files with project.

  I have a table with the following structure: CREATE TABLE items ( id serial not null, title character varying(255), version_id integer DEFAULT 1, parent_id integer, CONSTRAINT items_pkey PRIMARY KEY (id) ) So the table contains rows that looks as so: id: 1, title: "Version 1", version_id: 1, parent_id: 1 id: 2, title: "Version 2", version_id: 2, parent_id: 1 id: 3, title: "Completely different record", version_id: 1, parent_id: 3 This is the SQL code I've got for selecting out all of the records with the most recent version ids: select * from items inner join ( select parent_id, max(version_id) as version_id from items group by parent_id) as vi on items.version_id = vi.version_id and items.parent_id = vi.parent_id Is there a way to write that SQL statement so that it doesn't use a subselect?

• Handling inverse kinematics: animation blending or math?

  I've been working for the past four days on inverse kinematics for my game engine. I'm working on a game with a shoestring budget so when the idea of inverse kinematics came up I knew I had to make it such that the 3D models bones would be mathematically changed to appear to be stepping on objects. This is causing some serious problems with my animation, after it was technically implemented the animations started looking quite bad when the character was wlaking up inclines or steps even though mathematically the stepping was correct and was even smoothly interpolating. So I was wondering, is it actually possible to get a smooth efficient inverse kinematic system based exclusively on math where bones are changed or is this just a wild goose chase and I should either solve the inverse kinematics problem with animation blending or don't do it at all?

• What happens to an ActiveX control (COleControl) after the call to OnDestroy() ?

  I have an ActiveX control written in C++ that runs in Internet Explorer 8. Most of the time (approx 90%) when the tab or browser containing the control is closed, there is an access violation like this: The thread 'Win32 Thread' (0x1bf0) has exited with code 0 (0x0). Unhandled exception at 0x77b3b9fd in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x65007408. The access violation occurs after the call to OnDestroy() but before the call to the control's destructor. The debug output says: No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. The source code cannot be displayed. None of my code is present in the stacktrace, although perhaps the heap was corrupted at some earlier point during execution. What lifecycle events does an ActiveX control receive between the call to OnDestroy() and the control's destructor?

• Google Chrome + Ajax

  Im writing an ajax web app that uses Comet/Long Polling to keep the webpage up to date, and I noticed in Chrome, it treats the page as if its always loading (icon for the tab keeps spinning). I thought this was normal for Google Chrome + Ajax because even Google Wave had this behaviour. Well today I noticed that Google Wave no longer keeps the loading icon spinning, anyone know how they fixed this?   I am looking for something like a Queue that would allow me to put elements at the end of the queue and pop them out in the beggining, like a regular Queue does. The difference would be that I also need to compact the Queue from time to time. This is, let's assume I have the following items on my Queue (each character, including the dot, is an item in the Queue): e d . c . b . a (this Queue has 8 items) Then, I'd need for example to remove the last dot, so to get: e d . c . b a Is there anything like that in the Java Collection classes? I need to use this for a program I am doing where I can't use anything but Java's classes. I am not allowed to design one for myself. Currently I'm just using a LinkedList, but I thought maybe this would be more like a Queue than a LinkedList. Thanks

  Hello Everyone, I was working on a site of Cakephp which was successfully delivered.But recently Client again appered and asked me to put the Wordpress blog in it,to cover up the Blogging thing in his site.He wants to share the authentication between the Cakephp and WP.Whoever registers in his site,then Logins in it and if he clicks on the Blog Tab,he must be redirected to the WP blog with the session still there.After some googling I have installed it in /app/webroot/blog folder but I am not able to edit the .htaccess file. Please help me in the right direction,that how to share the authentication betwenn Cake Php and Wordpress, and the second one how to customize the .htaccess file so that URL's look good.   Is there a way to find out how much memory is being used by a web page, or by my jquery application? Here's my situation: I'm building a data heavy webapp using a jquery frontend and a restful backend that serves data in JSON. The page is loaded once, and then everything happens via ajax. The UI provides users with a way to create multiple tabs within the UI, and each tab can contain lots and lots of data. I'm considering limiting the number of tabs they can create, but was thinking it would be nice to only limit them once memory usage has gone above a certain threshold.

If user close the browser window or Tab(close the site),session must gets cleared. • Passing more than one argument in asp.net button in gridview

  I have a TemplateField column in a gridview with a button inside of it. There is NO key value (surely that was not designed by me) , but in the other hand there aren't redundancies when comparing each single column, because they are events, and there is "starting date" and "ending date" of something that could not happen twice at the same time. I've already figured selecting with these values and all, but I just want the button to pass about five arguments to a given function. I've tested: <asp:Button CommandArgument='<%# Eval("day")%>' ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button" /> And it works properly, the day of the clicked row is passed, and could be retrieved through: e.CommandArgument.ToString(); in the GridView_RowCommand handler. How do I pass more than one argument? I've thought about concatenating with a separating character (wouldn't be that bad) but besides not knowing how to do it yet (didn't want to invest in a poor solution) I want a smarter one.

• Alternative to Microsoft Agent / Fix for color issue?

  I've got an app that does Text-To-Speech; but I wanted to show an animated face/character to go with it. I found a tutorial on Microsoft Agent and I implemented it in my vb.net app. The problem is with the transparency color. Unless I run application in compatibility mode/256 colors, the characters will appear with a purplish-pink background image instead of a transparent back-color. But running the app in 256 colors the rest of the app looks awfully out of place. First - is there something that works similar to MS Agent I can use that would be more appropriate? Second - if I'm still MS Agent - can I get the transparent color to work correctly without limiting myself to 256 colors?

• Addressing a memory leak stops my UI from showing iphone

  Hi I've being getting a memory leak warning with a UITabbarcontroller. If I release the tabbarcontroller the warning goes away but the tabbar will not show any content.   I have developed a HTTP Handler Web Service, and have had it successfully deployed, through testing on other environments i've ran into another problem. This is the error message I receive: You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) So it is obvious what needs to be fixed, so: 1) Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. 2) Right-click the Web site that contains the SharePoint Web site that you created, and then click Properties. 3) Click the Home Directory tab. 4) Under Application settings, click either Scripts only in the Execute permissions list or Scripts and Executables in the Execute permissions list (as appropriate to your situation). Click OK. 5) Quit IIS Manager. But I'm still getting the same error. So what else could be wrong?

  What's a simple and canonical way to read an entire file into memory in Scala? (Ideally, with control over character encoding.) • CREATE mysql database with default InnoDB tables?

  Hello, I've been working on writing a SQL statement to create a MySQL database with several default options, including default character set and default collate. Is it possible to add syntax to make the default engine type for tables in this database to be innodb? I've been looking through the MySQL manual for v.5.1 and I've found the statement 'ENGINE=innodb' which would be appended to a CREATE TABLE statement... but I haven't found anything related to a CREATE DATABASE statement. Is there a normal way to do this as part of the database creation, or does it need to be specified on a table-by-table basis? Thanks, Monte

• Seemingly normal link does not work in MVC, IIS5, SparkView.

  I have a regular link being generated in MVC1.0 as: /Login/Logout This link does not work. The code for it is: <a href="${Links.Logout}" class="SignOut">Sign out</a> As I am using SparkView. I am using IIS5.1 on WinXP Pro. I cannot work out why the link on the page calls the MVC action if I open the link in a separate browser tab but not when I click directly on it in the original page. This feels like a browser bug (Chrome, Firefox, IE8) but they all perform the same way. Thanks, Matt.

• Clear command line output from Python [Eclipse]

  I'm using Eclipse for writing Python, and I want to be able to easily clear the screen. I've seen this question, and tried (among other things suggested there) the following solution import os def clear(): os.system('cls' if os.name == 'nt' else 'clear') but it doesn't entirely solve my problem. Instead of clearing the screen, the routine prints a small square (as if wanting to print an unknown character) to the command output window in Eclipse. Typing cls in the command line works perfectly fine, as does running a Python script with the above code from command line. But how can I make it look nice in Eclipse as well?

• NSNumberFormatter to display custom labels for 10^n (10000 -> 10k)

  I need to display numbers on a plot axis. The values could change but I want to avoid too long numbers that will ruin the readability of the graph. My thought was to group every 3 characters and substitute them with K, M and so on (or a custom character). So: 1 - 1, 999 - 999, 1.000 - 1k, 1.200 - 1.2k, 1.280 - 1.2k, 12.800 - 12.8k, 999.999 - 999.9k, 1.000.000 - 1M, ... Note that probably I'll only need to format round numbers (1, 10, 1000, 1500, 2000, 10000, 20000, 30000, 100000, ...). Is that possibile with NSNumberFormatter? I saw that it has a setFormat method but I don't know how much customizable it is. I'm using NSNumberFormatter cause the graph object I use wants it to set label format and I want to avoid changing my data to set the label.
