My view on this is because SysAdmins are not promoting it within the organisations because Internet Explorer has features which make it more acceptable to an enterprise, such as Managing settings via GPO Integration into the rest of the update stack Support of common business applications So what would you add to Firefox to get it more promotion by SysAdmins in the enterprise?

    I'm not able to run a PHP enabled web site under Apache on Windows XP if the path to DOCUMENT_ROOT contains accented letters. I'm not referring to the script file names themselves but to any folder in the path components. I have this virtual host definition: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName foo.local DocumentRoot "E:/gonzález/sites/foo" ErrorLog logs/foo.local-error.log CustomLog logs/foo.local-access.log combined <Directory "E:/gonzález/sites/foo"> AllowOverride All Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> If I save the file in ANSI I get a syntax error: DocumentRoot must be a directory If I save the file in Unicode I get another syntax error: Invalid command '\xff\xfe#', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration (looks like it's complaining about the BOM) If I save the file in BOM-less UTF-8 Apache works fine and it serves static files with no apparent issue... ... however, PHP complaints when loading any *.php file (even an empty one): Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'E:/gonzález/sites/foo/vacio.php' (include_path='.;C:\Archivos de programa\PHP\pear') in Unknown on line 0 I decided to try the 8+3 short name of the directory (just a test, I don't want to use such a workaround): <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName foo.local DocumentRoot "E:/GONZLE~1/sites/foo" ErrorLog logs/foo.local-error.log CustomLog logs/foo.local-access.log combined <Directory "E:/GONZLE~1/sites/foo"> AllowOverride All Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> But I get the same behaviour: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'E:/gonzález/sites/foo/vacio.php' (include_path='.;C:\Archivos de programa\PHP\pear') in Unknown on line 0 While there're obvious workarounds (use plain ASCII in all directory names or create NTFS junctions to hide actual names) I can't believe that this cannot be done. My specs include 32 bit Windows XP Professional SP3, Apache/2.2.13 and PHP/5.2.11 running as Apache module (but I've noticed the same issue in another box with Windows Vista and PHP/5.3.1).

    Hello, I'm trying to setup a site to site VPN, with a Cisco ASA 5505 at one end. The documentation tells me to use the Ipsec VPN wizard but under the wizards drop down menu there's nothing VPN related there. I have a 'base' license, is that the issue? or am I being stupid? The versions I have are: Cisco Asa 5505 with ASA 8.2(1) and ASDM 6.2(1), the firewall was already setup when I got it (I'm leasing a dedicated server). Thanks for your help

The official site presented to me is http://windows.microsoft.com/de-CH/windows/products/security-essentials, as I am located in Switzerland. The link to the actual package then is http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=231276 Obviously, the download is not secured with https. Why? Would this not be the first thing Microsoft should do? They could deliver the certificate already with the OS to make it really secure...

  • Forwarding apache requests (port 80) to Tomcat (port 8080)?

    I want to run a Tomcat application through a regular website URL, such as www.xyz.com. I would like the root of this domain to act as the base directory for the web application, so each request to www.xyz.com/a/b/c becomes www.abc.com:8080/myApp/a/b/c. Ideally, I would be able to do this transparently and only for certain webapps. www.abc.com:8080 should still respond to requests. What do I need to do to make this happen?

  • git clone is blank from a Gitosis Served Repository

    Everything is working fine with my public keys and repository activity but when one of my team members tries to clone a repository, the clone is blank, example output: bry4n@~/tests$ git clone [email protected]:tg/base.git bry4n@~/tests$ At first, It was giving the typical no read access error. Then i stripped out alot of the junk out of the configuration then he started only getting the output above.

  • Use Dropbox as Offsite Enterprise Backup Solution [on hold]

    For my small company, I'm using Tomahawk Backup as the enterprise offshore solution, as it covers files, databases and Exchange (brick level). The problem is the price... it costs more than 10x the price of Dropbox (and others) for the same space (120GB), and doesn't have de-duplication. So I'm wondering: assuming there is no problem with backing up files only (ie copying the exchange store file and the db files to the Dropbox folder), would Dropbox be suitable as the offsite backup solution?     I installed NetBeans 6.8 and tried to run the GlasshFish V3 server. I'm working under Windows Vista 32 Bits. First, it won't run.   • Amazon EC2 root defaults on EBS

    I'm trying to understand why when launching a new instance Amazon defaults to EBS (8gb root) instead of instance storage. Why do they sell instance storage then if it's not used also to boot the base system? Is it safe to uncheck delete on termination, make it bigger (~50GiB) and keep all files on that EBS instead of creating a new one to make sure data will persist and it will also be usable by another instance?

  • How can I use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail service using active sync protocol

    Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? If so, how did you do it? Wouldn't this solution probably eliminate the need for all the hacks/APIs needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc)? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. Thanks!

Windows is listening on TCP port 445: TCP 0.0.0.0:445 WIN7TEST:0 ABHÖREN The corresponding incoming firewall rule isn't activated (4th column): When I choose "workplace network" the SMB incoming port 445 rule is still disabled in the advanced windows firewall configuration. I thought "public network" / "workplace network" and so on is influencing the windows firewall rules!?     I'm wanting to rename some websites in IIS for organization purposes. I assume that the name is just meta data and won't cause any errors or problems but I'm not sure. Is there anything that relies on the website name to be unchanged? SSL certs maybe? I know each site has an id in the meta base and I assume that is all that's needed to identify the site programmaticly.
