  • Removing non-breaking spaces from strings using Python

    Hello: I am having some trouble with a very basic string issue in Python (that I can't figure out). Basically, I am trying to do the following: '# read file into a string myString = file.read() '# Attempt to remove non breaking spaces myString = myString.replace("\u00A0"," ") '# however, when I print my string to output to console, I get: Foo **<C2><A0>** Bar I thought that the "\u00A0" was the escape code for unicode non breaking spaces, but apparently I am not doing this properly. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

  • lucene index missing files

    I have _0.cfs file of a lucene index directory but segments.gen and segments_2 are missing. Can I generate the segments.gen and segments_2 files without having to regenerate the _0.cfs file. Does these "segments" files contain any index specific data, which will thus force me to regnerate the entire index again. Or can I just generate the two "segments" file by copying these from another lucen index directory gnerated with the same lucene version.

  • How to select TreePanel node(Parent/child) in selenium java

    My Application having TreePanel Element and I have to select the root node at the begining to add child node underit. When I try to click on root node using its XPATH String locator = "//div[@id='resultPropertyTree']/div/table/tbody/tr/td"; selenium.clickAt(locator,"0,1"); The entire element is going invisible hence script throwing debug exception saying the element is invisible/not got the focus etc. Can anybody help me out on handling above is appreciated.     The conditions are - I don't have administrator privilege - I want to see the status of a service in remote machine (server) I use the following code (vb.net with framework 2.0) to see the status Dim sqlSvc As ServiceController Svc = New ServiceController(My.Settings.serviceName, My.Settings.machineName) If sqlSvc.Status.ToString.Equals("Running") Then displayStatus("success", sqlSvc.Status.ToString) Else displayStatus("error", sqlSvc.Status.ToString) End If When running the code, InvalidOperationException is raised and found out that I need admin right in the server. Can I lookup the status of the service without having admin right in remote machine ?

    Hey - I'm new to python , and I'm having a hard time grasping the concept of Unit testing in python. I'm coming from Java - so unit testing makes sense because - well , there you actually have a unit - A Class. But a Python class is not necessarily the same as a Java class , and the way I use Python - as a scripting language - is more functional then OOP - So what do you "unit test" in Python ? A flow?     I have an NSAttributedString s and an integer i and I'd like a function that takes s and i and returns a new NSAttributedString that has a (stringified) i prepended to s. It looks like some combination of -stringWithFormat:, -initWithString:, and -insertAttributedString: would do it but I'm having trouble piecing it together without a lot of convolution and temporary variables. More generally, pointers to guides on making sense of NSAttributedString and NSMutableAttributedString would be awesome.

I have developed everything else, but I really could use some help, any sort of help, on the part I'm stuck on. Back story: *A group of actors waits in a circle. They "count off" by various amounts. The last few to audition are thought to have the best chance of getting the parts and becoming stars. Instead of actors having names, they are identified by numbers.     is there a workaround to use the cfdocument tag to save a page/file as an excel sheet instead of a PDF file? I already have a process set up to make pdf files and email them out and would like to give my customers the option of getting an excel file instead. It would be nice if I could reuse the code I already have instead of having to rewrite it in POI or something like that.

    Would having a nice little feature that makes it quicker to write code like Automatic Properties fit very nicely with the mantra of VB.NET? Something like this would work perfect: Public Property FirstName() As String Get Set End Property UPDATE: VB.NET 10 (coming with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0) will have Automatic Properties.     Having defined an ADO.NET Entity Data Model, I can then instantiate it in a Repository class to query against the database. using (ApplicationEntities ctx = new ApplicationEntities()) { // query, CRUD, etc } However, that particular line of code becomes boilerplate in most of the methods in the repository class. Is it possible to just use Spring.NET to inject the Entity Data Model, either in the class or, even better, in an abstract parent class that all the repositories inherit from?
