  • Which open source/free CMSs allow for staging content changes before putting live?

    I'm not sure that I've phrased the question all that well. What I'm really looking for is a feature of CMSs where content changes are made on a restricted access 'staging/preview' site, before being published to the live external site. The open source/free CMSs I've looked at so far (Textpattern, WordPress, Movable Type) don't seem to allow this, as far as I can see. Although they allow new content to be saved as draft/pending, viewable by users with appropriate privileges, this doesn't work with changes to existing content -- a post/page can't be live and also have a new version pending. (Do correct me if I'm wrong). I realise it should be possible to do this by making all changes on a staging site, and then replicating the contents of that database to a separate live site manually, but am looking for something a little more elegant. Edit: Just to clarify, both systems which involve synchronising a live database with a staging database systems which offer live/staging views of a single database would be of interest. Am sure I have seen both approaches in commercial/proprietary CMSs.

    I want to open the built-in task manager with Process Explorer's Replace Task Manager option checked. I've tried: Running taskmgr.exe from the run dialog. PE was opened instead. Creating a copy of taskmgr.exe in the same folder. Then run it. The built-in task manager was opened, but not working properly(its window was blank). Creating a symbolic link (using mklink) of taskmgr.exe in the same folder. Then run it. PE was opened instead. Is there any other method I can try? Thanks.

    Looking for good open source proxy server software. Preferably for a Windows server based machine. Need it primarily for testing my applications connectivity in a proxy scenario. So something that is dead easy to setup and configure. The proxy will run locally on my LAN, and I want it to emulate as close as possible the type of proxy you might find in corporate networks, because I'm testing an SOA system. Will not be used for its real intended purposes, so scalability is not a huge concern. Thank you

    This question already has an answer here: What tool do you use to monitor your servers? 73 answers I am debugging a problem with one of our systems. Every Sunday, it stops communicating with another server. If we reboot both servers, communication works again. I was wondering if there are any small footprint apps that monitor TCP port availability and network connectivity, possibly logging any downtime. I'd also like it to be open source if possible, but if there is another solution that is proprietary, I'd like to hear about it also.

  • Open Source or Low Cost Layer 7 ("Content") Switch?

    I have several web servers that host a number of different applications and web sites. I want to make it easy to host apps or parts of web sites on different servers (e.g. example.com/foo might be on one physical server and example.com/bar might be on another). We do this Apache redirects right now, but that gets messy fast and in any case we have other problems we want to solve, such as throttling requests from individual clients, and reducing dependency on specific physical hosts. Is there an open source or low cost layer 7 switch that would be suitable for this sort of task? I was hoping to find something like a stripped down Linux VMware guest/appliance built for this purpose, but haven't seen anything suitable out there so far.

    I'm using a PHP script to read an RSS feed in my Flex 4 app. The script works when I put the url of the feed in the actual script, but I can't get it to work when I try to send the URL as a parameter from a HTTPService in Flex. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?   • How can I stop Flash from changing indent when user Clicks on hyperlink in TextField?

    I have a TextField which I initialize by setting htmlText. The text has anchor tags (hyperlinks). When a user clicks on the hyperlink, the indentation of the second and subsequent lines in the paragraph changes. Why? How do I stop it? My html has an image at the beginning of the line, followed by the tag, followed by more text. To style the hyper links to look blue always and underlined when the mouse is over them, I do this: var css:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet(); css.parseCSS("a {color: #0000FF;} a:hover {text-decoration: underline;}"); stepText.styleSheet = css; stepText.htmlText = textToUse; stepText.visible = true; Here is a fragment of the html text (with newlines and exrta whitespace added to improve readability - originally it was one long line): <textformat indent="-37" blockindent="37" > <img src="media/interface/level-1-bullets/solid-circle.png" align="left" hspace="8" vspace="1"/> American Dental Association. (I used images instead of li tags because Flash does not allow nested lists, so I faked it using a series of images with varying amounts of whitespace to simulate three levels of indentation.) IDEA: I was thinking of changing all hyperlinks to use "event:" as the URL protocol, which causes a TextEvent.LINK event to be triggered instead of following the link. Then I would have to open the browser in a second call. I could use this event handler to set the html text to itself, which might clear the problem. (When I switch pages in my application and then come back to the page, everything is OKAY again.) PROBLEM: If I use the "event:" protocol and user tries the right-mouse button click, they will get an error, or so I am told.     I have implemented A* algorithm. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and it goes through an endless loop. After days of debugging and googling, I hope you can come to the rescue.   • WPF HwndHost keyboard focus

    The chart area in the screenshot is a HwndHost control which hosts a native Win32 window (with it's own registered WNDCLASS) implemented in C++/CLI and drawn with Direct2D. The HwndHost is hosted in a WPF Border control. The problem I have is that I can't set the keyboard focus to the hosted Win32 window. I want the focus to move to the hosted Win32 window when the used clicks on the chart area. I tried calling SetFocus on WM_LBUTTONDOWN, but that screws app the focus in the rest of the application. Currently, even if I click on the Win32 window, the focus remains on the tree-view on the left, and if I press the up/down cursor keys, the tree-view will get them, not the chart window. How do I make the hosted Win32 window receive keyboard input from when the user clicks on the chart area, until it clicks on another control (like the tree-view, or the toolbar)?

    I have a StackedBarSeries in Silverlight 4 charting (latest release). I have created a DataPointStyle called MyDataPointStyle for a custom tooltip. By itself this breaks the standard palette used for the different bars. I've applied a custom palette - as described in David Anson's blog to the chart. However when I have the DataPointStyle set for my SeriesDefinition objects it does not use this palette. I'm not sure what I'm missing - but David specifically says : ... it enables the use of DynamicResource (currently only supported by the WPF platform) to let users customize their DataPointStyle without inadvertently losing the default/custom Palette colors. (Note: A very popular request!)   • FusionCharts vs GoogleCharts vs HighCharts suggestions required for commercial use

    I find that FusionCharts v3 evaluation and HighCharts cannot be used for commercial purpose. Google charts is the best option but those are not as good looking as any of the above. They don't even have 3d charts although their visualization API does support 3D which i cannot find. Is there any open source graphing or charting solution available which can be used in commercial products? I even looked in to Open Flash Charts 2 but found that the developer had left the project long time a go and the currently out libs are way too buggy. I had to fix more than 50 bugs to get their 1 chart working. I tried to fix others but couldn't get Pie charts etc. working. What i'm looking for is - 1. Attractive 3d column chart. 2. 3d Pie Chart. 3. Spline Chart. 4. Geographical Chart. Does anyone knows any open source or free solution which can be used for commercial products? Cheers!

    in my flex chart I changed the fill of the PieSeries to use custom colors (set colors that I was prepared to be used according to values in the data provider of the Pie Chart)... The problem that the legend that is linked to my PieChart still shows the flex default colors and not the new colors from the PieChart series! Any idea how can I render the marker fill color of the flex legend items to meet the colors in the Pie Chart?

  • Managing data charts

    My dbml file is just getting bigger and bigger and more unwieldy: I favoured an all-in-one approach as supposed to multiple data contexts because when I tried that it was near impossible to manage in code. I was advised it was better to have them all in one chart and the difficulty will be simply in managing this chart and not in code. The chart I've got is becoming a pain to manage, if I want to even remove a table and re-add it it sometimes takes a little while to manually find it! There isn't even a list I can find in VS2010 of the objects you have in that chart! Is there a better way of doing this?

  • Load nsimage from url but only some url's work

    I have some code that loads an image file off the web and puts it in an image view. The problem is it works with everything but Google Charts. This is frustrating because I was relying on this to graph data for my app. Heres the url I need to load: Click to see my test chart. Im not sure why NSImage seems to refuse to load this when it works with everything elese. If you know why or have a work-around any help is appreciated.   • ffmpeg 0.5 flv to wav conversion creates wav files that other programs won't open.

    Hi, I am using the following command to convert FLV files to audio files to feed into julian, a speech to text program. cat ./jon2.flv | ffmpeg -i - -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 16000 -ac 1 -f wav - | cat - > jon2.wav The cat's are there for debugging purposes as the final use will be a running program that will pipe FLV into ffmpeg's stdin and the stdout going to julian. The resulting wave files are identified by "file" as: jon3.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 16000 Hz VLC (based on ffmpeg) plays the file, but no other tools will open/see the data. They show empty wav files or won't open/play. For example Sound Booth from CS4. Has anyone else had similar problems? Julian requires wav files 16bit mono at 16000 Hz. Julian does seem to read the file, but doesn't seem to go through the entire file (may be unrelated). Thanks, -rr

Desktop.getDesktop().browse(uri); probably opens a web page on server side, how to do it on client side? when i try Desktop.getDesktop().browse(uri); it works, but maybe its because I open the JSF application on localhost so I dont know if the opened uri is on server side or client side. In the specification for getDesktop() its written: getDesktop() Returns the Desktop instance of the current browser context. Thanks!
