• How to click through JGlassPane With MouseListener to UI behind it

  I have a JFrame and a bunch of JComponents on top of the JFrame. I need to make use of the JGlassPane and I used this implementation to set it up. JPanel glass = new JPanel(); frame.setGlassPane(glass); glass.setVisible(true); glass.setOpaque(false); After doing so I can't select any JButtons or other JComponents under the JGlassPane. Is there a way to have only the components on the GlassPane selectable while still having the ability to select components under the GlassPane? Edit I forgot to mention (not knowing this would be relevant) that I did attach both a MouseListener and a MouseMotionListener to the glass pane. Is there a way to pass the Mouse Events to other components and only use them when needed?

• Synclock a section of code while waiting for ShowDialog to return

  I'm having trouble working out how to lock my application out of a section of code while it waits for a response from an external program. I've used Synclock on a section of code with the Me object in the expression. In this Synclock I call an overridden ShowDialog method of a dialog box, which has a timeout parameter, but does return the value from the underlying ShowDialog function call ,once the timer is setup. Works like this. SyncLock Me Dim frmDlgWithTimeout As New frmDlgWithTimeout ' dialog box with overridden ShowDialog ' Dim res As DialogResult = frmDlgWithTimeout.ShowDialog(10 * 1000) ' 10 sec timeout ' End SyncLock Now, external programs may raise events that bring my application to this Synclock but it doesn't prevent it from entering it, even though the ShowDialog function hasn't returned a value (and hence what I thought would keep the section of code locked). There is only one instance of the object that is used for lock in the program. Your help is greatly appreciated.

• WPF TreeView PreviewMouseDown on TreeViewItem

  If I handle the PreviewMouseDown event on TreeViewItem, I get events for everything I click on that TreeViewItem include the little +/- box to the left (Windows XP). How can I distinguish that? • Android: who can help me with setting up this google maps class please??

  Hi, Firstly this has turned out to be quite a long post so please bear with me as its not too difficult but you may need to clarify something with me if i haven't explained it correctly. So with some help the other day from guys on this forum, i managed to partially set up my 'mapClass' class, but i'm having trouble with it and its not running correctly so i would like some help if possible. I will post the code below so you can see. What Ive got is a 'Dundrum' class which sets up the listView for an array of items. Then ive got a 'dundrumSelector' class which I use to set up the setOnClickListener() methods on the listItems and link them to their correct views. The onClick() events don't even work from the listView to get into the correct views. I have to comment out the methods in 'DundrumSelector' before I can get into their views. And this is what I dont understand, firstly why wont the onClick() events work, because its not even on that next view where the map is. I know this is a very long post and it might be quite confusing so let me know if you want any clarification.. Just to recap, what i'm trying to do is just have one class that sets up the map coordinates, like what i'm trying to do in my 'mapClass'. • jQuery hyperlinks - href value?

  Hi, On my website I use jQuery to hook the events of elements, namely hyperlinks. As these hyperlinks only perform actions on the current page, and do not lead anywhere, I have been putting a href attribute of "#" in: <a href="#">My Link</a> However in some browsers this causes the page to scroll right to top which is obviously undesirable behaviour. I've tried using a blank href value, or not including one, but then the mouse does not change to the hand cursor upon hovering. What should I put in there?

• click-event doesn't fire if blur changes layout

  I have a form with blur-events bound to the required fields. Then there is a "Cancel" Button which simply calls an URL (button is an image with click-event). When leaving one of the required fields a warning is written to the page saying that field xy is required. - this causes a layout shift, meaning all the fields and the buttons are moved down a little bit because of the text inserted above. The tricky thing is this: when the focus is in an empty but required field and you click the cancel button, the required-warning is written to the screen but the click-event on the cancel button doesn't fire. I think this is due to the layout shift. The mouse cursor doesn't hover over the button anymore, because the button scrolled down. Has anyone a good idea how i could solve this?

• Owner Vs PArent and Taction shortcuts on Frames

  I have a form with a panel. I create frames at runtime and display them on the panel by setting frame's parent property to the panel. When creating panels I do not set the owner property because i manage myself the lifetime of the frame. Until now i got no problem. Next I put an TActionList on the frame with some shortcuts on the actions. I found that my actions did not execute until I set the owner property of the frame to the panel. Can someone can explain me that ? I thought that owner property was just about wich component is responsible to free the children components, and not responsible to forward key events.

Is it possible to track the execution time and frequency of calls being made at runtime? Imagine a chain of events with some recursive calls over a fraction of a second.   I'm making a custom button in Java that has two states, mousePressed, and mouseReleased. At the same time, if I wanted to reuse this button, so that other event listeners can register with it, are these the appropriate steps I should do: override addActionListener(ActionListener action) override removeActionListener(ActionListener action) have a private variable like List <ActionListener> list = new List <ActionListener>() to keep track of when events get added and some sort of function with for loop to run all the actions: public void runListeners() { for (ActionListener al : list) { al.actionPerfomed; } } I'm not really sure if this is the way you can do it or if there are other things I am missing. • How to solve the performance decay of a VB.NET 1.1 application?

  I have single-thread windows form application written with VB.NET and targeting Framework 1.1. The software communicates with external boards through a serial interface, and it mainly consist of a state machine that run some tests, driven in a loop done with a Timer and an Interval of 50ms. The feedback on the user interface is done through some custom events raised during the tests. The problem that is driving me crazy is that the performance slightly decrease over time, and in particular after 1200/1300 test operations. The memory occupied does not increase over time, it is only the CPU that seems interested by this problem. The strange thing is that, targeting framework 2.0 and using the same identical code, I do not have this problem. I know that is difficult without looking at the code, but do you have suggestions how can I approach the problem?

• Redirecting input to another view

  My application is working fine on the normal iPad display, but I also need to output to VGA out. When I do this, I need to add the view to the external screen's window which seems to mean that I can't use it to accept input from the iPad screen. I want to redirect input from the iPad's window to the window displaying on the external screen. As far as I can tell there's no standard method of doing this. I've tried overriding hitTest on the iPad's window view to send it to the window on the external display, but the coordinates seem to get messed up in the process which makes it nigh unusable. I've also tried subclassing the iPad's UIWindow and catching events in sendEvent, then trying to send them to the external window, but this doesn't seem to work at all. Any help would be appreciated, I'm happy to post any code you would like to see. Thanks, Jon

I have an HTML page that loads two different SWF files. is there a way to dispatch a custom event from one flex application to another ? to create a custom event I extend the Event class and I add another variable to the constructor called params which is an Object. I use EventDispatcher to dispatch the events. I have no idea how to do that between one flex application to the other. is it even possible ? If it's not, is there any other way that these two flex applications can communicate without opening a LocalConnection ? Using flex 4.5 thanks!

• Mimic property/list changes on an object on another object

  I need to mimic changes (property/list) changes on an object and then apply it to another object to keep the structure/property the same. In essence it's like cloning etc. the biz rules require certain properties to not be applied to the other object, so I can't just clone the object otherwise this would be easy. I've already walked the source object to get INotifyPropertyChanged and IListChanged events, so I have the "source" and the args (Property or List) changed event notifications. Given that I guess I could build a reflection "hierarchy path" starting from the top level of the source object to get to the Property or List changed "source" (which could be several levels deep). Ignoring for the moment that certain object properties should not propagate to the other object, what's a way to build this "path"? Is a brute force top level down to build the "path" (and discard on the way back up if we don't hit the original changed event "source") the only way to do it? Any clever ideas on how to mimic changes from one object to another object?

• What's a good way to create an Event Calendar

  Hi, I want to create an Event Calendar for my iPhone App. In a first instance the Event Calendar is supposed to list the Events and have a Details View with additional info. It is also supposed to contain an action to trasfer a specific event to the iPhone Calendar. First thoughts go towards using a UITableView where I make the event dates as sections. Since the Calendar is supposed to span many month I am unsure whether this really is the best way to go about it. Any suggestions? • Run a function when a DOM element is created

  Hi folks, I want to bind an event to a certain class and ID for when matching objects are created in the DOM. I am doing this as I have some jQuery code in an ASP UpdatePanel, which causes the DOM to be re-loaded on its partial postback. I have reset the events with live(), however I need to call a 2 line initialisation function as soon as the elements are created.   I have a UIScrollView. In there I add buttons programmatically. Right now I just use UIButton and set one title. But I need to have an UIImage View in there, that will change upon certain events, Text that will change too etc. and I would like to style that in Interface Builder, but I can't figure out how to do this. Which class should I extend, and what kind of xib should I create and what in there, so that in the end I can make the right connections and so that I can listen for UIControlEventTouchDown of that Button.

• How can I call a method on a custom object created in JavaScript using C#?

  I have a WebBrowser control. I have added some JavaScript into the head tag and I can see it is working as expected by adding an alert. Inside of this js I am creating a function and adding some members to it's prototype like so: function test() { } test.prototype.run = function() { alert('success!') } function createTest() { return new test() } Then back inside of C# I am doing: dynamic test = this.browser.InvokeScript("createTest"); test.run(); I can see that the test object is some ComObject but when I call run() nothing happens. I get no error but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to call this type of custom object? Also suppose I wanted to get rid of the createTest() method, how can I create a new instance of test from C#? Also, for bonus points, is there anything special I need to know about attaching events to this custom object (on say a 'complete' member) such that it will callback into my C# code?

• Limit on FileReference uploads?!

  Hello, I am currently uploading files in ActionScript 3 using the upload() method of the FileReference class. I built an uploader than can do simultaneous or parallel uploads, having a variable set the number of maximum uploads at a time. I noticed that for Internet Explorer I could be uploading 10 or more files simultaneously, but FireFox and Safari seems to cap the number of uploads to 2. That is, when I call the upload method on per say, 3 files, only 2 will get events back (such as ProgressEvent.PROGRESS). Only when one of the 2 uploads finishes, then the 3rd one will start. This behavior does not happen for Internet Explorer. I have tried with a large number of files, and some big files, to make sure this behavior was consistent. I was wondering if anyone noticed this behavior please, and if so, what is the reason for this behavior please? I appreciate your help, Thank you very much, Rudy

  i received a big book full of processes. i was thinking about the end user (they will be lawyers) and decided the best GUI would be showing activity diagrams or business processes. It reminded me Quickbooks and how non-accountants can successfully use it and understand accounting processes. i began doing research before sending my project to a bunch of programmers: is there some open source solution? can i use MS Visio libraries? which UML tool is programable? what about Eclipse and its modeling tools? etc etc the key points here are: relationships between events, artifacts, actors, etc should be stored in a database. processes or steps in a process should be easily modified by updating the database do this sounds too crazy? (should I explain a bit more why it must be programmed this way?)
