In pseudo-code: SELECT data FROM table Now would it be possible to select $_GET['percentage'] of random data from table? For example (again in pseudo-code): $_GET['percentage'] = 10; SELECT 10% of data from table order by rand() If this IS possible, how could I do it?

    I have a list containing version strings, such as things: versions_list = ["1.1.2", "1.0.0", "1.3.3", "1.0.12", "1.0.2"] I would like to sort it, so the result would be something like this: versions_list = ["1.0.0", "1.0.2", "1.0.12", "1.1.2", "1.3.3"] The order of precendece for the digits should obviously be from left to right, and it should be decending. So 1.2.3 comes before 2.2.3 and 2.2.2 comes before 2.2.3. How do I do this in Python?

    I understand how to create a vanity URL in Rails in order to translate http://mysite.com/forum/1 into http://mysite.com/some-forum-name But I'd like to take it a step further and get the following working (if it is possible at all): Instead of: http://mysite.com/forum/1/board/99/thread/321 I'd like in the first step to get to something like this: http://mysite.com/1/99/321 and ultimately have it like http://mysite.com/some-forum-name/some-board-name/this-is-the-thread-subject. Is this possible?

In order to make function calls to our back-end php code we've implemented something called an ActionProxy like this: function ActionProxy(action, input, callback){ $.post("ActionProxy.php?method="+action, { data: input}, function(data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest){ //return data.ResponseWhatever } }); The problem we're having is that using data outside the ActionProxy is impossible due to variable scope limitations (we assume), setting var res = data.ResponseWhatever or return data.ResponseWhatever is pretty futile. How would one handle these responses most appropriately so that functions calling the actionproxy can access the response values?

I am using the following code in order to accomplish this: [[cellArray objectAtIndex:0] setAction:@selector(testing:)]; [[cellArray objectAtIndex:1] setAction:@selector(testing:)]; However, when I toggle the selection of the two cells, the function isn't run.     Hi, In order to avoid freezing of GUI, I wanted to run method connecting to DB asynchronously. Therefore I have written this: DelegatLoginu dl = ConnectDB; IAsyncResult ar=dl.BeginInvoke(null, null); bool result = (bool)dl.EndInvoke(ar); But it is still freezing and I do not understand why - I though BeginInvoke assures that method it references is run in another thread.
