• FTP won't open a connection to client

  I am running Windows server 2008 on Ubuntu server 12.04.1 via devstack and I am trying to download a file from an ftp server using the windows command line ftp client. When I run the ftp get command I get the following error message: 500 I won't open a connection to 10.0.0.2 (only to XX.XX.XX.XX) 425 No data connection 10.0.0.2 is the internal IP address of the instance, whereas XX.XX.XX.XX is the external address. Is there anyway to make the ftp client use the external address for the data connection, or alternatively have the client establish the connection? Thanks

• Wine 1.4. Cannot install vcrun6 on Ubuntu Studio 12.04.1 64 bit

• The true cost to get my XNA game on XBox?

  There seem to be many hurdles to get ones game onto Xbox, so far I have uncovered: You need Visual Studio (once your game becomes commercial you cannot use Express - but have to pay for professional). $1000+ You then buy a XBox to find you also need a harddrive - so buy a Xbox harddrive too. $400 You need to buy XBox Gold LIVE subscription. $70 You need to buy AppHub Creators Club subscription $100 Then after all that I cannot even find the place on my XBox to download Indie games?!!! Seriously WTF - after doing all this I could have come proficient in WebGL and done it all for free... Before I go all the way down this path (hole) are there any other hidden hurdels before I can publish my game? UPDATE: "Indie Games are not available in Australia, due to the requirement for all games to be rated by the Australian Classification Board, and the prohibitive expenses involved."....... im going to have to break something....

  Which languages have compilers able to emit plain standard C/C++ code? For a start: Haxe // uses Boehm GC Haskell (JHC) Haskell (old GHC) // -fvia-c, removed recently (emitted code is super ugly) Clay ATS Cython RPython (Shed Skin) // experimental RPython (PyPy) Python (Nuitka) // although author claims there are no speedups Common Lisp (ECL) COBOL (OpenCobol) Scheme (Chicken) APL // So far I've not found working implementation available for free download Ur/Web // GCC-specific output, and intended to be used only for web developments (included for completeness only) I'd like to build comprehensive up-to-date list but found only these ones so far. I've tested only Haxe and it works pretty well and quite fast. What about other ones? What is your expirience? How much ugly is generated code? Update. Any language chains (e.g. X - Scheme - C) will be perfectly OK as answer if its use is practical enough and suited for production use.

• Kernel source version number does not match

  I am using Ubuntu 11.10. When I type 'uname -r' in the terminal, I get: 3.0.0-15-generic I want to download the kernel source for the particular kernel version I am running. When I look on kernel.org, and then look inside kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.0/ I can only find source tarballs by the name of linux-3.0.x.tar.gz. My 'uname -r' has an extra '0' in it. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is my kernel not a mainline one?

  Das zweite Release von Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c ist jetzt verfügbar und zwar für alle Plattformen, auf denen auch das Vorgängerrelease genutzt werden konnte. Das gab es bei Enterprise Manager noch nie: Alle Plattformen haben die gleiche Priorität! In dem neuen Release wurde die Stabilität nochmals verbessert und einige Wünsche unserer Kunden verwirklicht. Auch einige neue Funktionalitäten, wie zum Beispiel "Java as a Service" stehen nun zur Verfügung. Neben dem Cloud Control Framework wurden auch einige Plug-Ins erneuert. Cloud Control 12.1.0.2 ist ein komplettes Release und der Download enthält alles für die Installation des OMS und Agenten. Damit kann mit der Software eine komplette Neuinstallation oder ein Upgrade von EM 10.2.0.5, 11.1 oder 12.1.0.1 (auch ohne Bundle Patch 1) vorgenommen werden. It was a pleasure for me to be back in Bangkok again even though I didn't have much time again due to my overnight flight to Seoul after the workshop. But thanks for your questions - I will follow up as soon as I'm getting back home. And thanks to Francisco Alvarez, Oracle ACE Director from New Zealand, for inviting me. • Kernel panic when booting from USB

  I downloaded ubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso and used Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.6.3.exe to format my USB stick und put the ISO on it. When I tried to install from it, I've got a kernel panic just like here, except for the version number (mine was 2.6.38-8-generic #42-ubuntu). My ISO image seems to work, as I installed it into a VMWare player without problems. Booting Linux from USB works surely too, as I did it some time ago with an older Ubuntu version. I can imagine things to try out, e.g., write the image again, try another version, pray, look for patches, etc. However, I'm looking for a time-efficient solution, something what most probably works. An advice of the sort "wait two weeks until it's surely fixed, then download again" is acceptable, I'm determined to switch to Linux, but it can wait a bit.

• Can realtek 8192cu usb wireless card be used in ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.2.0?

  I do like the post RTL8188CUS Wireless USB Dongle doesn't work unless I disable wireless security . But when I plug my 8192cu usb wireless card, my computer screen is off. At that time I even can not use Alt SysRq k or Alt SysRq + reisub. I compile the latest driver of 8192cu on ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.2.0-34. In RealTek site, I download 8192cu drive which is for Linux Kernel 2.6.18~2.6.38 and Kernel 3.0.8. But now in Ubuntu12.04 my kernel is 3.2.0-34. Every time I plug the usb 8192cu wireless card my system halts. Now I try to blacklist both the system's rtl8192cu driver and the new 8192cu driver I compile, but the system still halts when I plug the usb driver. What about you ? Thanks!
