  • How to provide custom connection string for Logging Application Block instead of using the one in .c

    I'm modifying an existing winforms application to use the Logging Application Block. For historical reasons this app gets its main database connection string from the registry, and I'd like the Logging Application Block to use the same details for logging to the database. How can I do this? The approaches i can think of are: 1) Create a new TraceListener and implement the same sort of functionality as in FormattedDatabaseTraceListener. If I take this approach, should I inherit from CustomTraceListener, and if so how do I pass an attribute of the formatter to use? 2) Create a new ConfigurationSource that provides different details when asked for the database connection. All other requests would be passed through to a FileConfigurationSource, but when asked for the database connection details the object would read the appropriate bits from the registry instead. but it's not obvious which is more appropriate, or how to go about doing it. Any suggestions? I'm using EntLib 3.1. thanks, -Rory

  • How to convert many-to-one XML data to DataSet?

    I have an XML document that has a collection of objects. Each object has a key/value pair of label and value. I am trying to convert this into a DataSet, but when I do ds.ReadXml(xmlFile), then it creates two columns: label and value.     I have a collection of strings that are XML content. I want to iterate thru my collection and build a CSV file to stream to the user for download (sometimes it can be hundreds in the collection).   • How can one prevent MSBuild from rebuilding the entire project even when all targets are up to date?

    I've got a Visual Studio solution I'd like to build using the commandline. MSBuild is usable for this purpose, and I've done a simple batch file that looks like this: msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=Win32 msbuild ..\DDSCPP.sln /p:Configuration=Release /p:Platform=x64 Unfortunately, that causes my entire solution to be rebuilt each time the command is run, rather than only building what has changed. Am I missing something here?

  • How do you set Android ViewPager to encompass only one View or Layout?

    I am struggling with the concepts needed to properly implement a view pager. By following some tutorials and referencing developer.android.com, I am able to get a view pager almost fully functional. The pager will flip through several text views that have been setup to say "My Message 0" through "My Message 9". The problem is that the view pager also flips the button on the bottom of the activity and the red block that is right above the button. I would like to have the view pager only cycle through the text. Would you please help me understand what I'm doing wrong? WHY? UPDATES I tried making the join query into a separate query and using that as my record source, but it made no difference at all.   • htaccess Redirect 301 problem .. all redirects with one string fail to redirect and 404

    So I have moved a website and am trying to 301 redirect everything, which I do quite often so this is a weird problem but probably something stupid I'm not seeing. ALL of my redirects are working fine, except any redirect that the first string starts with "/Dining" or "/dining" are failing. For example, this redirect works fine- Redirect 301 /healthfitness/teeth.cfm /healthcare/pretty-teeth ...as well as 100s of others.   • How does one properly redefine self while avoiding the "Multiple methods named ..." warning?

    In Apple's The Objective-C Programming Language: Defining a Class the section named "Redifining self" recommends that that class methods allocate and return instances use 'self' only to allocate an instance and then refer only to that instance. Thus, I have a number of subclasses, that have class methods along the lines of: + (id)scrollViewWithFrame: (NSRect)rectFrame { id newInstance = [[[self alloc] initWithFrame:rectFrame] autorelease]; [newInstance setHasHorizontalScroller: YES]; [newInstance setHasVerticalScroller: YES]; [newInstance setBorderType: NSNoBorder]; [newInstance setAutoresizingMask: (NSViewWidthSizable | NSViewHeightSizable)]; return newInstance; } The above is, of course, a subclass of NSScrollView. Unfortunately, Xcode 3.x all these NSView subclasses now raise warnings: "Warning: Multiple methods named '-setAutoresizingMask' found". I believe it has something to do with GCC 4.2, the settings of which I have not changed. The warning is correct, of course, since NSView and its various subclasses all implement setAutoresizingMask, but it is also unnecessary. Since they're only warnings, I ignore them but there is a risk that in between the thirty or so unnecessary ones, a really useful warning lurks which I simply don't see. So, what to do? I do want to adhere to good coding practices and I want to build warning-free apps -- how can I do both?

  • How to hold three different text alignments in one CSS Box ?

    Good day, I've got a simple CSS question. I'm trying to change a table into a CSS box, but aligning the table content is difficult to me right now. Below there's an example of what's inside of the css box i created. How can I align these three elements (calendar and icon to the left , a text link to the center, and the other date field to the right ?) correctly ? I've tried several things but the problem is getting it aligned properly. I want to change everything in this application that has been created with tables, to css. And I've been an 80% succesful so far. I'd like to see some easy to understand code, to see how I can apply it on my code. Thank you for your kind help. I might be burned out due to stress.   • How does one change the background color for a loading out-of-browser Silverlight 3 application?

    When running our Silverlight 3 application out-of-browser, startup takes a little time, but it's long enough to be noticeable. During this startup, the background of the window hosting the application displays an ugly white background color. When running in-browser, we have a splash screen, but that's loaded via JavaScript of course. How can I get a splash screen working for an out-of-browser Silverlight 3? Or if that's not possible, is there a way I can at least change the background color of the window?

  • Moving the Gallery view to the next image on one swipe in Android?

    Hi All, I have four images in the Gallery View. When we do swipe from left to right or right to left the Gallery View moves all the images i.e if I swipe from left to right from the first image then it will move to all the four images. What I want is that when I swipe it should only move to the next image. Can someone let me know how is this possible? Hope to get a reply soon. Regards Sunil

I have code that does it, but there's a gap: private void TextBox_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key != Key.Enter) { return; } TextBox textbox = (TextBox)sender; if (IsTextBoxTheLastOneInTheTemplate(textbox)) { this.mCollection.Add("A new textbox appears!"); } } The function IsTextBoxTheLastOneInTheTemplate() is something that I need, but can't figure out how to write. How would I go about writing it? I've considered using ItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator, but can't put all the pieces together. Thanks! -Mike

    I have 4 images, which I want to fade between each other in a loop. I have something like the following: <img src="/images/image-1.jpg" id="featureImg1" /> <img src="/images/image-2.jpg" id="featureImg2" style="display:none;" /> <img src="/images/image-3.jpg" id="featureImg3" style="display:none;" /> <img src="/images/image-4.jpg" id="featureImg4" style="display:none;" /> I am up for revisions to the HTML, although I cannot use absolute positioning in this case. I am using jQuery else where on the site, so it's available. I also need to deal with an image not being loaded right away as the images are larger.

For example Entity id | name | description 1 | configuration1 | configuration1 Attribute id | entityId | name | type 1 | 1 |att1 | string 2 | 1 |att2 | int 3 |1 | att3 | List (How will i model this?)   • Should I work with multiple recruiters for a job search or just pick one?

    So I posted my resume on dice and monster last night and today I've received 5 voicemails and about 6 emails from different recruiters wanting to talk to me. What's the best way to handle this situation. I want to reply to them all of course as I'm very interested in making an imminent job change. Is there some sort of rule of thumb here? It seems to me they would want to work with me exclusively if they could. I don't want to limit my options though..

  • How to hide items under the options from one select box upon selection of an item in another select

    Hi, I am new to jQuery and would like to know how is it possible for me to hide an option in a selection box based on the selection of another selection box. I have 5 selection boxes, this is for the administrator to select the users of a limited criteria. The <options> are create dynamically from the results of a database query and php, and they all have the same <options>. e.g. this is an example of the selection boxes with their option values. userbox1 - Amy, Bosh, Cathy, Daniel, Ethan userbox2 - Amy, Bosh, Cathy, Daniel, Ethan userbox3 - Amy, Bosh, Cathy, Daniel, Ethan userbox4 - Amy, Bosh, Cathy, Daniel, Ethan userbox5 - Amy, Bosh, Cathy, Daniel, Ethan So if the administrator selects Cathy in userbox1, Cathy will be automatically be hidden from the selection on the rest of the userbox. And if the administrator changes his/her mind and reselect another user call Ethan. The userboxes should be able to show the availability of Cathy in the selection. I am not sure is hide/show the correct status to be used in such cases. May I know how is it possible to write the function as stated above? If I am missing some current references, kindly point me to it. Thanks in advance.

    I'm coding a networking application on Android. I'm thinking of having a single UDP port and Datagram socket that receives all the datagrams that are sent to it and then have different processing queues for these messages. I'm doubting if I should have a second or third UDP socket on standby. Some messages will be very short (100bytes or so), but others will have to transfer files. My concern is, will the Android kernel drop the small messages if it's too busy handling the bigger ones? Update "The latter function calls sock_queue_rcv_skb() (in sock.h), which queues the UDP packet on the socket's receive buffer. If no more space is left on the buffer, the packet is discarded. Filtering also is performed by this function, which calls sk_filter() just like TCP did. Finally, data_ready() is called, and UDP packet reception is completed."
