  In chapter 2 of the book WPF4 Unleashed the author shows an example of how XAML processes type conversion. He states that <SolidColorBrush>White</SolidColorBrush> is equivalent to <SolidColorBrush Color="White"/> , because a string can be converted into a SolidColorBrush object. But how is that enough? It doesn't make sense to me. How does XAML know to which property should the value White be assigned?

• Assigning unsigned char* buffer to a string

  This question might be asked before but I couldn't find exactly what I need. My problem is, I have a buffer loaded by data downloaded from a webservice. The buffer is in unsigned char* form in which there is no '\0' at the end. Then I have a poco xml parser needs a string. I tried assigning it to string but now I realized it would cause problem such as leaking. here is the code: DOMParser::DOMParser(unsigned char* consatData, int consatDataSize, unsigned char* lagData, int lagDataSize) { Poco::XML::DOMParser parser; std::string consat; consat.assign((const char*) consatData, consatDataSize); pDoc = parser.parseString(consat); ParseConsat(); } Poco xml parser does have a ParseMemory which need a const char* and size of data but for some reason it just gives me segmentation fault. So I think it's safer to turn it to string. Thanks in advance.

  What is the XPath to find only ONE node (whichever) having a certain attribute (actually I'm interested in the attribute, not the node). For example, in my XML, I have several tags having a lang attribute. I know all of them must have the same value. I just want to get any of them. Right now, I do this : //*[1][@lang]/@lang, but it seems not to work properly, for an unknown reason. My tries have led me to things ranging from concatenation of all the @lang values ('en en en en...') to nothing, with sometimes inbetween what I want but not on all XML. EDIT : Actually //@lang[1] can not work, because the function position() is called before the test on a lang attribute presence. So it always takes the very first element found in the XML. It worked best at the time because many many times, the lang attribute was on root element.

I also want to display their input back to them, so that requires me figuring out which fields failed validation. Meaning if someone fails on creating a new user resource, I want to display XML that's meaningful (Besides a meaningful HTTP status number) such as: <errors> <user> <email>bad@email: Invalid email format</email> </user> <errors> The above is tough to do in an XML builder file without knowing what field failed. And if I just iterate over error messages, I won't know how to prob my @user object to get the value that the user supplied.
