• Popup control from dll in web page

  I'm developing a kind of framework that will work in web and win, so I have this interface: public interface IViewsManager { ... void ShowMessage(); ... } And I have the implementation for win that call a popup control from another dll. My problem is when I try to implement it for web enviroment, I have to call a popup control from another dll, and I would like to show the popup and the web page disables with a gray layer, and I don't know how to do it.   Hi, I have a complex background image and images, that should be on exact positions of the background image. How can I organize web page? I can't use absolute positions, because I need to organize background to view it nice on any monitor, any resolution and any browser. It can be aligned to center or smth else. Web page can be written just with HTML, Javascript or with a library like JQuery.   Hi there, I am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)? I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.

• Automatic Backup and Restore MySQL db from Web Server to Local Machine

  I have a web app that is supposed to be run on a single local machine (kiosk display), but I want the option to let a user make changes on the web (from any PC) and update the instance on their local PC (kiosk display). From what i imagine, the MySQL instance on the web will just be replace the MySQL instance on the local (kiosk display) machine. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I am open to a product or coding it myself... I will appreciate any info or brainstorm. Thanks.

  This is a repost, because no one had popper solution. What to do when gnome-shell freezes? Everything works correctly (music is still playing etc.), just the gui freezes. I am able to ctrl+alt+f1. What can I do after logging in the ctrl+alt+f1 terminal, in order to restore gnome-shell? If gnome-shell worked, I'd just hit alt+f2 and run r. I usually end up sudo rebooting which I don't like, because I have to reopen apps.

  Hi all, Im my current project we need to interface with sharepoint to store and retrieve various documents. This has previously been done by referencing the Microsoft.Sharepoint dlls directly and going from there. As I don't know a lot about sharepoint yet I have been doing some research. Most of the examples I find actually refer to using the Sharepoint web services themselves (the various vti_bin ones shown in http://www.sharepointmonitor.com/2007/01/sharepoint-web-service/). I cant seem to find the differences in approaches. This current project was written a few years ago so maybe the web services weren't available then? Cheers

A single category contains a list of expense transactions and every expense transaction should have a Category. In this post, we will be focusing on CRUD operations for the entity Category and will be working on the Expense entity with a View Model object in the later post. And the source code for this application will be refactored over time. The above entities are very simple POCO (Plain Old CLR Object) classes and the entity Category is decorated with validation attributes in the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations namespace. Now we want to use these entities for defining model objects for the Entity Framework 4. Using the Code First approach of Entity Framework, we can first define the entities by simply writing POCO classes without any coupling with any API or database library. This approach lets you focus on domain model which will enable Domain-Driven Development for applications. EF code first support is currently enabled with a separate API that is runs on top of the Entity Framework 4. EF Code First is reached CTP 5 when I am writing this article. Creating Context Class for Entity Framework We have created our domain model and let’s create a class in order to working with Entity Framework Code First. For this, you have to download EF Code First CTP 5 and add reference to the assembly EntitFramework.dll. When we are running the application at first time, it will automatically create the database. EF code-first look for a connection string in web.config or app.config that has the same name as the dbcontext class. If it is not find any connection string with the convention, it will automatically create database in local SQL Express database by default and the name of the database will be same name as the dbcontext class. You can also define the name of database in constructor of the the dbcontext class. Unlike NHibernate, we don’t have to use any XML based mapping files or Fluent interface for mapping between our model and database. The model classes of Code First are working on the basis of conventions and we can also use a fluent API to refine our model. The convention for primary key is ‘Id’ or ‘<class name>Id’.  If primary key properties are detected with type ‘int’, ‘long’ or ‘short’, they will automatically registered as identity columns in the database by default. Primary key detection is not case sensitive. We can define our model classes with validation attributes in the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations namespace and it automatically enforces validation rules when a model object is updated or saved. Generic Repository for EF Code First We have created model classes and dbcontext class. Now we have to create generic repository pattern for data persistence with EF code first.   As far as I can tell my Exchange 2010 Mailbox and Client Access server is working fine except for Outlook Anywhere. I fired up the Exchange Connectivity Tester and ran it against my server and I get this report: Part 5 Testing HTTP Authentication Methods for URL https://mail.contoso.com/rpc/rpcproxy.dll?server6.corp.contoso.com:6002. The HTTP authentication test failed. Additional details: A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 503 - ServiceUnavailable response was received from Unknown. When I do a search for "ServiceUnavailable response was received from Unknown." I get only a couple of relevant results, including a 22k-view Exchange Forum thread, but none of the solutions discussed help. There is nothing of relevance in the server's Event Log. mail.contoso.com is the public domain name of the CAS/MB/HT server. server6.corp.contoso.com is the internal domain name of the server.

• IE 8 plays sound, Ulead pop-up message appears, crash

  I'm experiencing a problem on a new PC using Outlook Web Access in Internet Explorer 8. When OWA plays a sound, a message box appears: the about box for Ulead MP3 codec. When I click OK to dismiss the box, I get a message that IE has stopped responding and Windows eventually has to force the browser window closed. This is apparently not an isolated incident, occurring on computers from different manufacturers and on other websites that play sound (such as AOL's Webmail). The only "fix" I've found on discussion boards is to prevent the website from playing sound in the first place. That's not a fix, that's just avoiding the trigger. I'd like to know what's causing this and uninstall it or repair it, so the computer can work like it's supposed to. Since Super User users are smarter than the average bear, I thought I'd have better luck here.

  I have an IIS7.5 (Server 2008 R2) based web service that I would like to make as independant on the current implementations technology as possible. I am using the URL rewrite module (http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/734/url-rewrite-module/) to remove the .asmx portion of the URL and that is working fine for the HTTP request portion. However, I still see .asmx in the WSDL file when I access it. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, what advice could be offered. It doesn't seem like a hard problem to solve. But I have tries a number of things with "custom tags" and can't seem to get it working to save my life.

  Are there any alternatives to web of trust for chrome and firefox. Because I found out that Wot doesn't always ask you if you want to access a dangerous site or not. While I was browsing a while ago for a curriculum vitae template. I saw this image on google that looks like one. I click it but then it brought me to a site with a red mark in Wot, and wot doesn't even bother to inform me first that the site is dangerous. Do you know of any alternatives?

  How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time. Any help greatly appreciated. Dennis

• mono: application not running when web.config in subfolder

  I run asp.net on mono. I wanted to run blogengine: http://www.dotnetblogengine.net/ I downloaded, put it in /var/www/blogengine, on the console went to /var/www/blogengine and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080, and it ran without problems. Then I stopped xsp2, went to /var/www and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080/blogengine It ended with a strange error: The section <blogProvider> can't be defined in this configuration file (the allowed definition context is 'MachineToApplication'). (/var/www/blogengine/Web.Config line 9) The problem seems to be that it stops working as soon as the xsp2 root folder is anything else than the application root folder... Do I have to config anything ? Or what else is wrong ?

• windows server 2008 web edition cant change permissions

  hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

• Safari taking too long to load web-pages.

  I am running the latest and greatest Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have started to notice that Safari is taking too long to open properly most of the web-pages I routinely visit. Safari would first sit at "Connecting ..." status, and then on "Waiting ..." status, taking a lot of time to load the page. In contrast, Firefox (and Opera), for example, is loading pages quickly. I am not using any proxy settings on either. I have emptied the cache on Safari; also re-set Safari completely, but all in vain. I am now stumped about what I should try to locate what the problem is, and if possible, fix it. Any help from the community here will be very much appreciated!

  I am just starting out with Web Server 2008 and I am having some trouble working with the Roles Manager. I am working on installing the Application Server using the Roles Manager and what I am running into is that it will run me through the install and then alert me that the install file for .NET 3.0 is not found. ("The source for the specified file was not found. error value: 0x800F081F") I think tried to install 3.0 manually and I was told I cannot do so. So I basically wondering if there was somewhere for me to place the install file so Roles can access it. Thanks Levi

  On a Windows 2008 R2, using DNS and IIS I've established my development test server; i.e. I'll have a web application that I can browse on http://test.dev I've moved all the static content files like images, js files and css files into another application which is visible on http://cdn.test.dev test.dev, uses cdn.test.dev urls like http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js to load js, css and images. When I first load "~/" of test.dev, all files will load with a response code of 200; when I press F5 in Firefox, all files, except the "~/default.aspx", will load with 304 response code; but pressing Ctrl+F5 loads them again with a 200 code; if I browse another url like "~/pages/" in test.dev, all of those static files will reload with a 200 code... Is this normal or I'm doing something wrong? Actually, I'm looking for a behavior like this: I want the client to load http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js, only once. I want the client's browser to use this jquery.js file, from cache, in all other pages of test.dev Is this possible? • vista server 2008 web edition cant change permissions

  hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

  Im setting up a combined website and extranet currently, they both read from the same database on the same server as the site is hosted on. The reason being that the website is fed from the data that the staff plug into the extranet interface. it also links in to AD for authorising access to the extranet. I have the extranet in a folder within the website folder. What I want to do is only allow the extranet to be accessed from computers within our LAN, but allow the main website to be freely accessible to internet users. I have it set up as a generic web server currently, so anyone can view anything (well up to the point where the user is asked to log into the extranet of course! I have read a lot on this but nothing I read applies to, or works in IIS7.5

• How to go to a website on a shared server by its ip address?

  I have a few questions, please help: Fist, I can access google search just by typing http://74.125.224.211 because this is the ip address returned by nslookup. However, I could not do so with ip addresses returned from www.yahoo.com. How do I go to yahoo search page by its ip ? Another example, http://www.allaboutcircuits.com will resolve to 68.233.243.63 by DNS server, but if I go to http://68.233.243.63 I got "Hello world!" , lol ! Second, for some reason, there is something wrong with DNS resolvers with my web hosting service (it will not be fixed !!). So command like, get_file_contents("http://www.allaboutcircuits.com"); will return php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known How do I get around this with IP address , 68.233.243.63 I mean somehow attach the HTTP hostname parameter to get_file_contents() ? I would like to solve this on my own side (in my code), no troubleshooting/adjustment will be done by server admin.

  I got a hosting account at Hostgator. it was a shared account and i had three websites present over there. Now, i have upgraded my account to VPS at Hostgator and i want to transfer only ONE website over the new VPS. say, mydom.net. this website includes wordpress installation and other custom pages and setup can somebody please guide me How can I transfer the web to my new account? with speed, accuracy, and such that my website remains in working condition.. what will I do about wordpress? simply copy it will work?(I dont thnk so), if not how can I move it?
