  • Zend - Deny access to CSS, JS, Image files

    All, I have the following Zend application structure: helloworld - application - configs - controllers - models - layouts - include - library - public - design -- css -- site.css -- js -- global.js -- images -- siteheader.gif -- sitefooter.gif - .htaccess - index.php My .htaccess file in public folder looks like this: Options -MultiViews RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -s [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l [OR] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L] RewriteRule ^.*$ index.php [NC,L] My document root points to the "public" folder. Currently, if the user visits a directory level URL, (Ex: http://localhost/design or localhost/css) , my .htaccess file above make sure to show him the "Access Forbidden" page. But if he visits the file level URL, (Ex: http://localhost/design/css/site.css), it shows him the CSS file or the js file or PHP file.. How can I make sure to lock file level access for the above file types, if accessed directly from the URL? Since my application is JS intensive, I want to protect it from users looking at it. Thanks

    I am working on a PPC2003 application. The devices on which the application has to run have a modem and VPN connection set. I want to automatically dial the system default "work" connection, which is the VPN one, which dial the modem one first. The user has another application who does automatically make the system dial the default connection. But I can't undertand how to do it from my Compact .NET application. I tried using OpenNETCF net package, but I could not make it work.

    I "inherited" an old Database where dates are stored as Int32 values (times too, but dates shall suffice for this example) i.e. 20090101 for Jan. 1st 2009. I can not change the schema of this database because it is still accessed by the old programs. However I want to write a new program using EF as the O/R-M. Now I'd love to have DateTime-Values in my Model. Is there a way to write a custom type and use this as a Type in the EF-Model. Something like a Type "OldDate" with properties: DatabaseValue : Int23 Value : DateTime (specifying the date-part whereas the time-part is always 0:00:00) Is something like this possible with the EF-Model ?

  • EFv1 mapping 1 to many Relationship to POCOs

    I'm trying to work through a problem where I'm mapping EF Entities to POCO which serve as DTO. I have two tables within my database, say Products and Categories. A Product belongs to one category and one category may contain many Products. My EF entities are named efProduct and efCategory. Within each entity there is the proper Navigation Property between efProduct and efCategory. My Poco objects are simple public class Product { public string Name { get; set; } public int ID { get; set; } public double Price { get; set; } public Category ProductType { get; set; } } public class Category { public int ID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public List<Product> products { get; set; } } To get a list of products I am able to do something like public IQueryable<Product> GetProducts() { return from p in ctx.Products select new Product { ID = p.ID, Name = p.Name, Price = p.Price ProductType = p.Category }; } However there is a type mismatch error because p.Category is of type efCategory. How can I resolve this? That is, how can I convert p.Category to type Category? I know in .NET EF has added support for POCO, but I'm forced to use .NET 3.5 SP1.

    I want to get the path of my app like: "\\ProgramFiles\\myApp", I try to use the following code: string path = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase; But it returns a path which has "\\myapp.exe" at the end. I also tried: string path = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory(); But it throws an “NotSupportedException”. Is there any way to get a path without .exe at the end?

  • moving EDMX file System.Data.MetadataException: Unable to load the specified metadata resource.

    I have a ASP.NET MVC 2 project. I've created edmx file on the class library project that holds the model. now I've created another class library called it shared and moved the edmx file over there. resolved some issues, everything compiles, but it can't find the connection string resource at runtime. I've copied the ConnectionString part of the Web.Config to the main file, the old class library app.config file and the new class library app.config file. Still get this error: System.Data.MetadataException: Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Line 75: public myProjdb() : base("name=myProjdb", "MyProjdb") in the MyProj.Designer.cs file. Any Idea how to resolve this issue ? Is there a better way to store connection string data ?

  • How to extend abstract Entity class in RIA Services

    I want to add a bool variable and property to the base Entity class in my RIA services project so that it is available throughout all the entity objects but seem unable to work out how to do this. I know that adding properties to actual entities themselves is easy using .shared.cs and partial classes but adding such properties to the Entity class using similar methods doesn't work. For example, the following code doesn't work namespace System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client { public abstract partial class Entity { private bool auditRequired; public bool AuditRequired { get { return auditRequired; } set { auditRequired = value; } } } } All that happens is that the existing Entity class gets totally overriden rather than extending the Entity class. How do I extend the base Entity class so that functionality is available thoughout all derived entity classes?

  • GUID or int entity key with SQL Compact/EF4?

    This is a follow-up to an earlier question I posted on EF4 entity keys with SQL Compact. SQL Compact doesn't allow server-generated identity keys, so I am left with creating my own keys as objects are added to the ObjectContext. My first choice would be an integer key, and the previous answer linked to a blog post that shows an extension method that uses the Max operator with a selector expression to find the next available key: public static TResult NextId<TSource, TResult>(this ObjectSet<TSource> table, Expression<Func<TSource, TResult>> selector) where TSource : class { TResult lastId = table.Any() ? table.Max(selector) : default(TResult); if (lastId is int) { lastId = (TResult)(object)(((int)(object)lastId) + 1); } return lastId; } Here's my take on the extension method: It will work fine if the ObjectContext that I am working with has an unfiltered entity set. In that case, the ObjectContext will contain all rows from the data table, and I will get an accurate result. But if the entity set is the result of a query filter, the method will return the last entity key in the filtered entity set, which will not necessarily be the last key in the data table. So I think the extension method won't really work. At this point, the obvious solution seems to be to simply use a GUID as the entity key. That way, I only need to call Guid.NewGuid() method to set the ID property before I add a new entity to my ObjectContext. Here is my question: Is there a simple way of getting the last primary key in the data store from EF4 (without having to create a second ObjectContext for that purpose)? Any other reason not to take the easy way out and simply use a GUID? Thanks for your help.

    I have a basic EF4 model with two entities. I'm using Self Tracking Entities Client has ClientAddresses relationship on clientkey = clientkey. (1 to many) How do i get a list/collection of client entities (STE) and their addresses (STE) but only ones where they live in a particular state or some such filter on the address???     I have one MySQL DB table like the following, the resources table: id | name | type 1 | guest | user 2 | member | user 3 | moderator | user 4 | owner | user 5 | admin | user 6 | index | controller Onto the next table, the rules table: id | user_id | rule | resource_id | extras 1 | 2 | 3 | 1 | null 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | null 3 | 4 | 3 | 3 | null 4 | 5 | 3 | 4 | null 5 | 6 | 1 | 1 | index,login,register 6 | 6 | 2 | 2 | login,register 7 | 6 | 1 | 2 | logout OK, sorry for the length, but I am trying to give a full picture of what I am trying to do. So the way it works, a role (aka user) can be granted (rule: 1) access to a controller, a role can inherit (rule: 3) access from another role or a role and be denied (rule: 2) access to a controller. (A user is a resource and a controller is a resource) Access to actions are granted / denied using the extras column. This all works, its not a problem with setting up the ACL within zend. What I am now trying to do is show the relationships; to do that I need to find the lowest level a role is granted access to a controller stopping if it has explicitly been removed. I plan on listing the roles. When I click a role, I want it to show all the controllers that role has access to. Then clicking on a controller shows the actions the role is allowed to do. So in the example above, a guest is allowed to view the index action of the index controller along with the login action. A member inherits the same access, but is then denied access to the login action and register action. A moderator inherits the rules of a member. So if I were to select the role moderator. I want to see the controller index listed. If I click on the controller, it should show the allowed actions as being action: index. (which was originally granted to the guest, but hasn't since been dissallowed) Is there any examples to doing this. I am obviously working with the Zend MVC (PHP) and MySQL. Even just a persudo code example would be a helpful starting point - this is one of the last parts of the jigsaw I am putting together. P.S. Obviously I have the ACL object - is it going to be easier to interigate that or is it better to do it my self via PHP/MySQL? The aim will be, show what a role can access which will then allow me to add or edit a role, controller and action in a GUI style (that is somewhat the easy bit) - currently I am updating the DB manually as I have been building the site.
