  • Why are events and commands in MVVM so unsupported by WPF / Visual Studio?

    When creating an WPF application with the MVVM pattern, it seems I have to gather the necessary tools myself to even begin the most rudimentary event handling, e.g. AttachedBehaviors I get from here DelegateCommands I get from here Now I'm looking for some way to handle the ItemSelected event in a ComboBox and am getting suggestions of tricks and workarounds to do this (using a XAML trigger or have other elements bound to the selected item, etc.). Ok, I can go down this road, but it seems to be reinventing the wheel. It would be nice to just have an ItemSelected command that I can handle in my ViewModel. Am I missing some set of standard tools or is everyone doing MVVM with WPF basically building and putting together their own collection of tools just so they can do the simplest plumbing tasks with events and commands, things that take only a couple lines in code-behind with a Click="eventHandler"?

  • How to draw a rectangle in WinForm app in the correct location

    I have a WinForm app that has an image displayed in a PictureBox that has the added functionality of allowing a user to draw a rectangle on the image by clicking and dragging. The Location, Height and Width of the rectangle are saved to disk. When the image is viewed again I would like to automatically redraw that rectangle in the same position on the image. When I redraw it, however, the Height and Width are fine but the location is always off. The location is being captured in the MouseDown Event like so private void pbSample_MouseDown(object Sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (SelectMode) { StartLocation.X = e.X; StartLocation.Y = e.Y; //later on these are saved as the location of the rectangle } } And I am redrawing it like so public void DrawSelectedArea(Rectangle rect) { Graphics g = this.PictureBox1.CreateGraphics(); Pen p = new Pen(Brushes.Black); g.DrawRectangle(p, rect); } Given the location from the MouseEventArgs captured during the MouseDown Event how can I calculate the correct location to redraw my rectangle?

  • problem processing xml in flex3

    Hi All, First time here asking a question and still learning on how to format things better... so sorry about the format as it does not look too well. I have started learning flex and picked up a book and tried to follow the examples in it. However, I got stuck with a problem. I have a jsp page which returns xml which basically have a list of products. I am trying to parse this xml, in other words go through products, and create Objects for each product node and store them in an ArrayCollection. The problem I believe I am having is I am not using the right way of navigating through xml. Can someone please help/point out what I could be doing wrong.   • touchesBegan and other touch events not getting detected in UINavigationController

    In short, I want to detect a touch on the navigation controller titlebar, but having trouble actually catching any touches at all! Everything is done without IB, if that makes a difference. My app delegate's .m file contains: MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:viewController]; [window addSubview:navigationController.view]; There are a few other subviews added to this window in a way that overlays navigationController leaving only the navigation bar visible. MyViewController is a subclass of UIViewController and its .m file contains: - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"ended\n"); } } -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for (UITouch *touch in touches) { NSLog(@"began\n"); } } I also tried putting these functions directly into app delegate's .m file, but the console remains blank. What am I doing wrong?

  • how do arguments work with dojo.connect?

    I've read the docs, but I must be missing something. I've got a grid, I want to connect to the event that fires when the column headers are clicked for sorting, thus: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var grid = dijit.byId("grid"); dojo.connect(grid, "setSortInfo", 'afterSort'); }); function afterSort() { console.info('after sort'); } That works fine as far as it goes. I know the setSortInfo method has an argument which is the column number. How do I get that value? I've tried putting a parameter in the sig for afterSort to no avail. The docs say "the method receives the same arguments as the event", but where are they???

  • Utilise Surv object in ggplot or lattice

    Anyone know how to take advantage of ggplot or lattice in doing survival analysis? It would be nice to do trellis/facet like survival graphs. So in the end I played around and sort of found a solution for a kaplan meier plot. Apologize for the messy code in taking the list elements into a dataframe, but I couldnt figure out another way. Note: It only works with two levels of stratum.     I have got myself stuck into a really amazing issue here.The code is like as below. class A { public: A(){ m_event = CreateEvent(NULL, false, false, NULL); // create an event with initial value as non-signalled m_thread = _beginthread(StaticThreadEntry, 0, this); // create a thread } static void StaticThreadEntry(A * obj) { obj->ThreadEntry(); } void ThreadEntry(); }; void A::ThreadEntry() { WaitforSingleObject(m_event,INFINITE); } int main() { A a; SetEvent(m_event); // sets the event to signalled state which causes the running thread to terminate WaitForSingleObject(m_thread, INFINITE); // waits for the thread to terminate return 0; } Problem : When the above code is run,sometimes( 1 out of 5 ) it hangs and the control gets stuck in the call to WaitforSingleObject()( inside the main function ).The code always calls SetEvent() function to ensure that the thread would terminate before calling Wait() function. I do not see any reason why it should ever hang?

  • Adobe Reader process fails when starting second instance

    In our C# WinForms application, we generate PDF files and launch Adobe Reader (or whatever the default system .pdf handler is) via the Process class. Since our PDF files can be large (approx 200K), we handle the Exited event to then clean up the temp file afterwards. The system works as required when a file is opened and then closed again. However, when a second file is opened (before closing Adobe Reader) the second process immediately exits (since Reader is now using it's MDI powers) and in our Exited handler our File.Delete call should fail because it's locked by the now joined Adobe process. However, in Reader we instead get: There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found. The unusual thing is that if I put a debugger breakpoint before the file deletion and allow it to attempt (and fail) the deletion, then the system behaves as expected! I'm positive that the file exists and fairly positive that all handles/file streams to the file are closed before starting the process.     Hi, A mortgage page on our website is accesible by multiple links on one page. In order to determine which of the links on that same page has been clicked on, I use event tracking. All events for these links are being stored under the category: "mortgage" When I look at the total number of pageviews for this mortgage page and the total number of events for the event category "mortgage", the number of pageviews is 10%-20% higher.     I am trying to add a flexnativemenu to my air application and I have some problems... When I set it in the windowApplication, I get null errors in child controls so I tried to set this.menu = myMainMenu (which is my flexnativemenu) in the creation complete event but the menu doesn't show up... I tried to show an alert message before setting the menu and the menu appeared in the application. Is there a method I can call to force the application to "redraw" itself in the creationComplete event??? Thanks!

    How can I enable automatic sorting of my BLL which returns a List CustomerList:List in a GridView? Customer is my own strongly typed class and CustomerList is a List of customers. I know one approach is to set the AllowSorting property to true in the GridView and handle the OnSorting event and call a sorting method defined in my CustomerList class. However I would like a solution which is automatic in the sense that I do not have to handle the OnSorting Event, it should be like how GridView handles automatic sorting for DataView, DataTable, and DataSet. Is there an Interface I need to implement on my CustomerList or Customer class that will enable that functionality?

  • Representing a schedule in a database

    I have the interesting problem of representing complex schedule data in a database. I need to be able to represent the entirety of what the iCalendar (ics) format can represent, but in my database. I don't care about insertion efficiency but query efficiency is critical. The operation I will be doing most often is providing either a single date/time or a date/time range, and trying to determine if the defined schedule matches any part of the date/time range. Other operations can be slower. For those unfamiliar, ics allows representation of a single event or a reoccuring event based on multiple times per day, days of the week, week of a month, month, year, or some combination of those. For example, the third Thursday in November, or the 25th of December, or every two weeks starting November 2nd and continuing until September the following year. Any suggestions?

  • How to differentiate between scrollbar click events and scrollbar drag events?

    I need to scroll an EXT-GWT grid by some custom amount instead of the default 1-2 rows. Since I couldn't find any parameter that let me do this, I overrode the event handler to capture scroll or mousewheel events. On any such event, I just programmatically move the scroller further by the required amount in the same direction, keeping a flag to ensure that it doesn't go into an infinite loop. However, this technique fails when the user scrolls the grid with the scroller. Specifically, when I drag the scroller from some position to the top of the scroll track, the rows displayed in the grid are not the topmost rows in the grid but some rows further down. I figured that if I could differentiate between the events generated by the scroll-up and scroll-down buttons and those generated by scroller drag, I could handle them separately and rectify the issue. Any way this could be done? Or is there a way to specify the amount by which a scrollbar should scroll in one step? Thanks -Sameer

All of this is needed to do this in a cross-browser way. Until now, my project only had to lazy-load Sizzle at one point in the script, so I was able to just hard-code the gather_content() function call into the load_sizzle() function. However, I now need to lazy-load Sizzle at two different points in the script, and call a different function either time once it's loaded. How can I modify my function so that I can specify a variable number of parameters, to be passed with the callback function? Or, am I going about this the wrong way? Ultimately, I just want to load Sizzle, then call any function that I need to (with any arguments that it needs) once it's done loading. Thanks for any help!

I'm trying to retrieve ErrorMessages by reflection in my event handler: public static void OnEventEnded(object sender, EventArgs args) { Type type = args.GetType(); FieldInfo stateInfo = type.GetField("State"); PropertyInfo errorMessagesInfo = stateInfo.FieldType.GetProperty("ErrorMessages"); object errorMessages = errorMessagesInfo.GetValue(null, null); } But this returns errorMessagesInfo as null (even though stateInfo is not null). Is it possible to retrieve ErrorMessages ? Thank you
