  • Leave approval hierarchy in openERP

    I am new to openERP and facing issues with HR module. I have this structure Project Manager-Team Leader-Developer Team Leader is a manager of developer Project Manager is manager of Team Leader. So, if developer asks for leave then first leave request should be sent to Team Leader (mail notification to Team Leader and Project Manager) and once TL approves Leave then automaitically request sent to Project Manager for second level approval. With openERP 6.1, there is no possibility to approve leave by Team Leader unless and until Team Leader is specified as a HR manager which is inappropriate. Anybody have any solution then let me know.   • What's the best way to unit test code that generates random output?

    Specifically, I've got a method picks n items from a list in such a way that a% of them meet one criterion, and b% meet a second, and so on. A simplified example would be to pick 5 items where 50% have a given property with the value 'true', and 50% 'false'; 50% of the time the method would return 2 true/3 false, and the other 50%, 3 true/2 false. Statistically speaking, this means that over 100 runs, I should get about 250 true/250 false, but because of the randomness, 240/260 is entirely possible. What's the best way to unit test this? I'm assuming that even though technically 300/200 is possible, it should probably fail the test if this happens. Is there a generally accepted tolerance for cases like this, and if so, how do you determine what that is?

  • Django 1.5 custom User model error. "Manager isn't available; User has been swapped"

    I extend the django user model as described in the dev doc. I wan't to keep most of the original User model features so I extend the AbstractUser class. I've defined in settings.py: AUTH_USER_MODEL = 'myapp.CustomUser' My user class: class CustomUser(AbstractUser): custom_field = models.ForeignKey('OtherModel') objects = UserManager() Everything seems to work fine but when I try to make it managed by the admin site: admin.site.register(CustomUser, UserAdmin) I get this error on the admin CustomUser creation page (after validation of the password confirmation form): AttributeError: Manager isn't available; User has been swapped for 'myapp.CustomUser' The point is that I need this model managed by the admin site in order to have the same creation process as with the original User model (two step process with password validation).     I am going to test my website speed, primary the webserver latency. Summarize what I want to achieve: 1) a webpage with javascript hosted in my website(http://myweb.com/test-speed.html) 2) I give this url to my friends 3) They don't need to do anything, they just need to access this webpage then the latency is printed out in the webpage. 4) If the webpage can also tell which state the visitor is in(using IP address range database), it will be a plus. Any existing solutions? I can modify the javascript to log the data into database, but I think the core here is how to writ the javascript to know the latency.

  • SQLite3 or SQLite Manager make me crazy !!! Please help me !! I have a presentation next week

    My friend added 90 rows into the database, I tied it up to my app. In my table view name of my variables are shown in proper fashion but when I tapped one of them, in detailsViewController their description is wrong. It shows very old description of variables not the new ones in database. Moreover, it displays the same description for different variables. What's the problem ? What am i missing? My database is correct. It displays same desscriptions for different values. It makes me worried about. Additionally, when I added a new row to my db, it accepts it but it does not perceive it when i run the app. It shows new row in my tableview if and only if I change the name of my db file. I do not want to use another SQL manager ..

How would you do this? I can't depend on the date/time as this is a login report that is constantly getting updated - all I want is to ensure that the last line ends with that email address. And I can't figure out how to do it using Selenium expressions, DOM, or XPath.

  • How do I set up a test duplicate of a Django and Postgresql based web application?

    Not sure if this is an excessively broad and newbie-ish question for Stack Overflow but here goes: I paid someone else to build a web application for me and now I want to tweak certain aspects of it myself. I learn best by trial and error – changing stuff and seeing what happens. Obviously that's not a great way to treat a live site, so I need to duplicate the site on some kind of test server which I can play with without fear of the consequences. Unfortunately the closest I've come to programming has been creating ActionScript-based websites. I've never touched a database. So I really don't know where to start with setting up a test server. I would really appreciate any advice about where to start. I am completely ignorant and lost here. The web application is built in python/django using a Postgresql database. I use Mac OS X 10.6 if that makes any difference.

  • How can I include utility functions from another file into a Sproutcore unit test file?

    Lets say I have a few utility functions in file tests/utils/functions.js. I would like to use these functions from several unit test files. However, I'm not able to use them as the Sproutcore build system does not include any external files into the html page used to run the unit tests. Only application code and the code from the unit tests to be run are included. So is it possible to somehow include Javascript files to be used in unit test files in Sproutcore? I could add the functions.js file into some other directory inside my application to be able to use them. However, this is not what I want to do as the utility functions are useless in final production build and would only make my application larger.

    I realize there's a similar question here, but this one has a different approach: I have a django app that does queries over data indexed with djapian ; I'd like to write unit tests for this app's search component, and, obviously, I'd need the django settings module and all connections with the database active, so the test runner that django provides seems ideal. however, the django testing framework creates a dummy database and I'd hate to dump all my data to a fixture and then index it (the tests would take forever!); My data isn't at risk because the tests would only read from the database, so, how could this be achieved? -I'm new at this whole unit testing thing, so the solution of writing a new test runner I read in that similar question doesn't enlighten me a bit, at least not without some details

    I am starting with an Activity based off of this ShakeActivity and I want to write some unit tests for it. I have written some small unit tests for Android activities before but I'm not sure where to start here. I want to feed the accelerometer some different values and test how the activity responds to it. For now I'm keeping it simple and just updating a private int counter variable and a TextView when a "shake" event happens. So my question largely boils down to this: How can I send fake data to the accelerometer from a unit test?

    I'm trying to run only the browser in the system - locking access to everything else. Only the supervisor can resume the normal functioning of the system after giving a password. This kind of activity is usually done by virus. Disabling the registry for Task manager etc. Does anyone know of any source available that does this? I might be able to pull it off in Windows XP. But have anyone tried this in Windows 7 ? The aim is to to emulate the Chrome OS on Windows. Only the browser. Nothing else.

    Is there anything wrong with checking so many things in this unit test?: ActualModel = ActualResult.AssertViewRendered() // check 1 .ForView("Index") // check 2 .WithViewData<List<Page>>(); // check 3 CollectionAssert.AreEqual(Expected, ActualModel); // check 4 The primary goals of this test are to verify the right view is returned (check 2) and it contains the right data (check 4). Would I gain anything by splitting this into multiple tests? I'm all about doing things right, but I'm not going to split things up if it doesn't have practical value.     Hi, I was wondering if there was anything that provides test data for injecting into Nunit tests? I'm sure I came across something recently that does this but I couldn't find it again. Basically the idea is that I could use selenium and Nunit to create new customers within the system automatically.   • C#: How to unit test a method that relies on another method within the same class?

    I have a class similar to the following: public class MyProxy : ClientBase<IService>, IService { public MyProxy(String endpointConfiguration) : base(endpointConfiguration) { } public int DoSomething(int x) { int result = DoSomethingToX(x); //This passes unit testing int result2 = ((IService)this).DoWork(x) //do I have to extract this part into a separate method just //to test it even though it's only a couple of lines? //Do something on result2 int result3 = result2 ... return result3; } int IService.DoWork(int x) { return base.Channel.DoWork(x); } } The problem lies in the fact that when testing I don't know how to mock the result2 item without extracting the part that gets result3 using result2 into a separate method. And, because it is unit testing I don't want to go that deep as to test what result2 comes back as... I'd rather mock the data somehow... like, be able to call the function and replace just that one call.

  • PHP: How to begin testing large, existing codebase, and test for regression on production site?

    I'm in charge of at least one large body of existing PHP code, that desperately needs tests, and as well I need some method of checking the production site for errors. I've been working with PHP for many years, but am unfortunately new to testing. (Sorry!). While writing tests for code that has predictable outcomes seems easy enough, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around just how I can test the live site, to ensure proper output. I know that in a test environment, I could set up the database in a known state... but are there proper methods or techniques for testing a live site? Where should I begin? [I am aware of PHPUnit and SimpleTest, but haven't chosen one over the other yet]
