I'm aiming to keep this project free of dependencies, and I don't want to have to require people to also install the readline development files just to compile my project.     I want to get the "free memory" of a bunch of servers like this: def get_mem(servername): res = os.popen('ssh %s "grep MemFree /proc/meminfo | sed \'s/[^0-9]//g\'"' % servername) return res.read().strip() since this can be threaded I want to do something like that: import threading thread1 = threading.Thread(target=get_mem, args=("server01", )) thread1.start() But now: how can I access the return value(s) of the get_mem functions? Do I really need to go the full fledged way creating a class MemThread(threading.Thread) and overwriting __init__ and __run__?

    I'm using Silverlight and need to display some OTF fonts. Now Silverlight supports OTF fonts in version 4 but it does not seem to support OTF fonts with PostScript outlines. I have some OTF fonts with postscript outlines that won't show up. Is there a (free) way of converting between OTF with postscript outlines to TrueType fonts or OTF with TrueType outlines. (Incidentally I've tried TransType but am having no joy with it).

  • Move Physical Windows Server 2008 into a Hyper-V VM

    Hello, I'd like to import a real Windows Server 2008 server as a Hyper-V Virtual Server on another Windows Server 2008 instance. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I'm looking at the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 but it doesn't seem to import Windows Server 2008 - nor is it free. Is there some other workaround (i.e. import the image into VMWare first, then convert to Hyper-V)? Please help. Regards, Randall

  • mod_perl memory

    Hi, I have a perl script running in mod_perl that needs to write a large amount of data to the client, possibly over a long period. The behavior that I observe is that once I print and flush something, the buffer memory is not reclaimed even though I rflush (I know this cant be reclaimed back by the OS). Is that how mod_perl operates and is there a way that I can force it to periodically free the buffer memory, so that I can use that for new buffers instead of taking more from the OS?

  • Any chance to get Core Data using Tokyo Cabinet as the persistent store?

    I watched a free high quality video with Aaron Hillegass about Core Data vs Tokyo Cabinet. Besides that this guy is amazingly funny (really, if you want to laugh now, watch it!), he shows off Tokyo Cabinet beeing about 40x faster than Core Data. I wonder if it's worth thinking about how to attach this to Core Data? Does that make any sense? Maybe as a custom atomic store or something like this?
