  • python dictionary with constant value-type

    hi there, I bumped into a case where I need a big (=huge) python dictionary, which turned to be quite memory-consuming. However, since all of the values are of a single type (long) - as well as the keys, I figured I can use python (or numpy, doesn't really matter) array for the values ; and wrap the needed interface (in: x ; out: d[x]) with an object which actually uses these arrays for the keys and values storage. I can use a index-conversion object (input -- index, of 1..n, where n is the different-values counter), and return array[index]. I can elaborate on some techniques of how to implement such an indexing-methods with reasonable memory requirement, it works and even pretty good. However, I wonder if there is such a data-structure-object already exists (in python, or wrapped to python from C/++), in any package (I checked collections, and some Google searches). Any comment will be welcome, thanks.

    I pass text in a gridview cell with a pipe delimiter, for example "4|31.99|3", What I'd like to be able to do is format this text to show as ------------- | 4 | |£31.99 / 3%| ------------- As you can see, I need the 4 to be Bold and be on a line of it's own, the 31.99 to be a currency and the 3 to be a percentage. Can this be done in code-behind using a converter or something?

    I have got a problem with calling a global function, which takes a pointer to a function as a parameter. Here is the declaration of the global function: int lmdif ( minpack_func_mn fcn, void *p, int m, int n, double *x, double *fvec, double ftol) The "minpack_func_mn" symbol is a typedef for a pointer to a function, defined as: typedef int (*minpack_func_mn)(void *p, int m, int n, const double *x, double *fvec, int iflag ); I want to call the "lmdif" function with a pointer to a function which is a member of a class I created, and here is the declaration of this class function: int LT_Calibrator::fcn(void *p, int m, int n, const double *x, double *fvec,int iflag) I am calling a global function like this: info=lmdif(&LT_Calibrator::fcn, 0, m, n, x, fvec, ftol) Unfortunately, I get a compiler error, which says: "error C2664: 'lmdif' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'int (__thiscall LT_Calibrator::* )(void *,int,int,const double *,double *,int)' to 'minpack_func_mn' 1 There is no context in which this conversion is possible" Is there any way to solve that problem?

I don't want the "pasted-to" application to perform any actions on the clipboard (e.g. formatting text, converting).     I am trying to read an ini file that has the following format: SETTING=VALUE SETTING2=VALUE2 I currently have the following code: string cache = sr.ReadToEnd(); string[] splitCache = cache.Split(new string[] {"\n", "\r\n"}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); Which gives me a list of settings, however, what I would like to do is read this into a dictionary. My question is, is there a way to do this without iterating through the entire array and manually populating the dictionary?

  • how to copy char * into a string and vice-versa

    If i pass a char * into a function. I want to then take that char * convert it to a std::string and once I get my result convert it back to char * from a std::string to show the result. I don't know how to do this for conversion ( I am not talking const char * but just char *) I am not sure how to manipulate the value of the pointer I send in. so steps i need to do take in a char * convert it into a string. take the result of that string and put it back in the form of a char * return the result such that the value should be available outside the function and not get destroyed. If possible can i see how it could be done via reference vs a pointer (whose address I pass in by value however I can still modify the value that pointer is pointing to. so even though the copy of the pointer address in the function gets destroyed i still see the changed value outside. thanks!

    I've been developing Ruby on Rails applications for some time, and have often found help to develop generate the templates of HTML with accompanying CSS. However, I'd like to make an attempt at doing this myself. Initial experiments leave me feeling like my process is really slow. I'm writing all my Rails code in VIM, which, with accompanying aliases to run the test suite, is pretty fast for me. However, the back-and-forth between browser/VIM to see new changes seems cumbersome - I'm guessing finding an editor with an embedded browser that constantly sees new changes is ideal for this (any suggestions?) So far I've experimented with Blueprint, which at the onset seems like it will save me a ton of time. However, what other tools have helped you do the PSD-HTML/CSS conversion as fast as you can?

    Hi All, I'm working in Ubuntu with MySql and I also have Query Browser and Administrator installed, I'm not afraid of the command line either if it helps. I want simply to be able to run a query and see a result set but then convert that result set into a series of commands that could be used to create the same rows in a table of an identical schema. I hope the question makes sense, it's quite a simple problem and one that must have been solved but I can't for the life of me work out where this kind of conversion is made available.   • Sql server management studio reporting "The semaphore timeout period has expired."

    On our development sql server, executing any query containing more than approximately 700 characters stalls for about 10 seconds and then reports the following error: Msg 121, Level 20, State 0, Line 0 A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.) for example, this query select * from FooTable where id = ' (.. and then 700 spaces ..) ' fails fails with the timeout error while this one select * from FooTable where id = ' (.. and then 600 spaces ..) ' fails with the expected Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier. - immediately. Indeed, throwing any query, including random garbage at our dev sql server exhibits this behaviour, while any other sql server I have available acts as expected, so I would think that the query never actually gets to parsing on the server. I'm at a loss here - any hints?

  • Ping remote server and wait to get data

    Hi I'm building my first application for android and I've reached a point where I can't find a solution even have no idea what to search for in Google. So the problem: I am pinging a remote server with GET request through the application passing some parameters like file_id. Then the server gives back confirmation if the file exists or error otherwise, both in plain text. The error string is $$$ERROR$$$. Actually the confirmation is JSON string that holds the path to the file. If the file doesn't exists on the server it generated the error message and start downloading the file and processing it which normally takes 10-30 seconds. What would be the best way to check if the file is ready for download? I have DownloadFile class that extends AsyncTask but before I reach the point to download the file I need the URL which is dependant on the previous request which is in the main class in the UI thread.     Hi All, I am writing an application that can record a 3GP video. I have tried both MMAPI and Invoke API. But have following issues. Using MMAPI: 1. When I record to stream, It records video in RIMM streaming format. when I try to play this video player gives error "Unsupported media format.". 2. When I record to a file. It will create a file of size 0. Using Invoke API: 1. In MMS mode it does not allow to record a video more than 30 seconds. 2. In Normal mode size of the file is very large. 3. Once I invoke camera application I do not have any control on application.     When I publish a Flash file that contains any sound (such as a WAV file), I can choose the sound compression method (MP3, raw, ADPCM, etc.). My question is about the mp3 compression and it's licence. Flash gives me the option to compress a WAV file as mp3, but is the licence to use the mp3 format included? I have paid for a Flash licence, does it give the right to use mp3 in my SWF files freely or do I have to pay royalties to someone else?

    Hey guys, I'm working on some legacy code for a client, involving Microsoft Content Management System (MCMS). Currently, everything is local, the code, MCMS, SQLServer, and IIS (5.x). I copied the project folder, and then opened the new copied solution in VS2005, and let it do it's conversion thing. But now nothing works. I've nnotice there have been some changes to IIS profile.   • Excel 2008 Cant Parse HTML

    I need to export a gridview to excel, I put the return html code from the gridview to a HtmlTextWriter and put this into the response. The result file work fine in excel, excel can parse the html and the result is readable, work perfect on excel 2003 and 2007, but in some machines with Excel 2008 (MACOS) excel shows only the raw html code and can't process this html code. Any idea to configure excel?
