    In an effort to learn the entity framework I have created two tables in a one to many relationship. The one table (Author) has the following fields - AuthorID, FirstName, LastName. The many table (Payroll) has the following fields - PayrollID, AuthorID, Salary. I have CRUD stored procdures for insert, update and delete. What I am tying to figure-out is how to add new payroll records to the payroll table.

  • Android TableRow RelativeLayout Issue

    I have the following <TableRow xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/admin_row" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="center_horizontal"> <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="horizontal" android:background="@color/silver"> I dynamically populate the table but with the relative layout colored silver it only spans about 3/4 of the table row. If I put a LinearLayout with horizontal orientation it spans completely but if I change it to vertical the same problem occurs. I need a relative layout in the table row because I need to something like this: Value Detail MoreDetail. Any ideas on getting the relative layout to span the table row?

  • Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

    SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using.   • Redirect network logs from syslog to another file

    I keep logging way to much info (not needed, for now) in my syslog, and not daily or hourly... but instant. If I want to watch for something in my syslog I just can't because the network log keeps interfering. So, how can I redirect network logs to another file and/or stop logging it?     I've been using InnoDB for a project, and relying on auto_increment. This is not a problem for most of the tables, but for tables with deletion, this might be an issue: AUTO_INCREMENT Handling in InnoDB particularly this part: AUTO_INCREMENT column named ai_col: After a server startup, for the first insert into a table t, InnoDB executes the equivalent of this statement: SELECT MAX(ai_col) FROM t FOR UPDATE; InnoDB increments by one the value retrieved by the statement and assigns it to the column and to the auto-increment counter for the table. This is a problem because while it ensures that within the table, the key is unique, there are foreign keys to this table where those keys are no longer unique. The mysql server does/should not restart often, but this is breaking. Are there any easy ways around this?

    Under the user name 'MY_ADMIN', I have successfully created a table called 'NOTIFICATIONS' and a view called 'V_NOTIFICATIONS'. On the 'V_NOTIFICATIONS' view I have successfully created a trigger and a package that takes what the user attempts to insert into the view and inserts it into the table. The 'V_NOTIFICATIONS' trigger and package also perform the update and delete functions on the table when the user attempts to perform the update and delete functions on the view. I have done this with many views in the project I am currently working on, as many views sit over the top of many different tables, however when attempting to insert a record into this view I receive an 'ORA-01031: insufficient privileges' error. I am able to insert directly into the table using the same code that is in the package, but not into the view. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a UITableView on one view that loads in data at the start of the application, and then later when a user enters text into a box and hits a button, I re-query the database, re-populate the original NSMutableArray that stores the data for the table. All of that is working perfectly. In some logging statements I can tell that the array has the correct information, the numberOfRowsInSection method is returning the proper count, and is being called after the reload is called. However, the cellForRowAtIndexPath is never called the second time (after the reload) and the table data is never updated. I've spent hours searching the net and I've found nothing that helps. Can anyone help?   • Generating the query plan takes 5 minutes, the query itself runs in milliseconds. What's up?

    I have a fairly complex (or ugly depending on how you look at it) stored procedure running on SQL Server 2008. It bases a lot of the logic on a view that has a pk table and a fk table. The fk table is left joined to the pk table slightly more than 30 times (the fk table has a poor design - it uses name value pairs that I need to flatten out. Unfortunately, it's 3rd party and I cannot change it). Anyway, it had been running fine for weeks until I periodically noticed a run that would take 3-5 minutes. It turns out that this is the time it takes to generate the query plan. Once the query plan exists and is cached, the stored procedure itself runs very efficiently. Things run smoothly until there is a reason to regenerate and cache the query plan again. Has anyone seen this? Why does it take so long to generate the plan? Are there ways to make it come up with a plan faster?

I'm running in to an issue where the query seems to complete fairly quickly when executed with SQL Developer, but does not seem to ever finish when using the OracleDataAdapter.Fill() method. I'm only trying to read about 1000 rows, and the query completes in SQL Developer in about 20 seconds. What could be causing such drastic differences in performance?     Hi, I have a table in an ASP.NET MVC2 form. On each row in the table there is a checkbox. Underneath the table there is a submitbutton. How can I use MVC2/jQuery to require the user to selected minimum one checkbox before clicking Submit button? Edit; Of the three answers below I couldn't get any of them to work.   • Patterns for implementing field change tracking.

    Hi all For one of my recent projects, I had to implement field change tracking. So anytime the user changed a value of a field, the change was recorded in order to allow full auditing of changes. In the database, I implemented this as a single table 'FieldChanges' with the following fields: TableName, FieldName, RecordId, DateOfChange, ChangedBy, IntValue, TextValue, DateTimeValue, BoolValue. The sproc saving changes to an object determines for each field whether it has been changed and inserts a record into FieldChanges if it has: if the type of the changed field is int, it records it in the IntValue field in the FieldChanges table, etc. This means that for any field in any table with any id value, I can query the FieldChanges table to get a list of changes. This works quite well but is a bit clumsy. Can anyone else who has implemented similar functionality suggest a better approach, and why they think it's better? I'd be really interested - thanks.     Hi In SQL Server 2008: I have one table, and I want to do something along the following lines: SELECT T1.stuff, T2.morestuff from ( SELECT code, date1, date2 from Table ) as T1 INNER JOIN ( SELECT code, date1, date2 from Table ) as T2 ON T1.code = T2.code and T1.date1 = T2.date2 The two subqueries are exactly identical.   • Legit? Two foreign keys referencing the same primary key.

    Hi All, I'm a web developer and have recently started a project with a company. Currently, I'm working with their DBA on getting the schema laid out for the site, and we've come to a disagreement regarding the design on a couple tables, and I'd like some opinions on the matter. Basically, we are working on a site that will implement a "friends" network. All users of the site will be contained in a table tblUsers with (PersonID int identity PK, etc). What I am wanting to do is to create a second table, tblNetwork, that will hold all of the relationships between users, with (NetworkID int identity PK, Owners_PersonID int FK, Friends_PersonID int FK, etc). Or conversely, remove the NetworkID, and have both the Owners_PersonID and Friends_PersonID shared as the Primary key. This is where the DBA has his problem. Saying that "he would only implement this kind of architecture in a data warehousing schema, and not for a website, and this is just another example of web developers trying to take the easy way out." Now obviously, his remark was a bit inflammatory, and that have helped motivate me to find an suitable answer, but more so, I'd just like to know how to do it right. I've been developing databases and programming for over 10 years, have worked with some top-notch minds, and have never heard this kind of argument. What the DBA is wanting to do is instead of storing both the Owners_PersonId and Friends_PersonId in the same table, is to create a third table tblFriends to store the Friends_PersonId, and have the tblNetwork have (NetworkID int identity PK, Owner_PersonID int FK, FriendsID int FK(from TBLFriends)). All that tblFriends would house would be (FriendsID int identity PK, Friends_PersonID(related back to Persons)). To me, creating the third table is just excessive in nature, and does nothing but create an alias for the Friends_PersonID, and cause me to have to add (what I view as unneeded) joins to all my queries, not to mention the extra cycles that will be necessary to perform the join on every query.   • Start position for a reused t- sql cursor?

    I'm working on a stored procedure that uses a cursor on a temporary table (I have read a bit about why cursors are undesirable, but in this situation I believe I still need to use one). In my procedure I need to step through the rows of the table twice. Having declared the cursor, already stepped through the temporary table once and closed the cursor, would the position of the cursor remain at the end of the table when re-opened or does it reposition itself to the initial starting position (ie: before the first row)? Alternatively, to reposition the cursor must I do a 'FETCH FIRST' before stepping through again? Am I right to assume the 'cost' of doing this repositioning and reusing the cursor would be less than deallocating and reallocating the cursor?
