  I run a Wordpress 3.7.1–de_DE site, but don't have much experience with it yet. When my site comes up in a Google search, there are 2 Google sitemap links displayed underneath: One of them points to a non-existent webpage /imprint though and I had to add a page at that URL to workaround this (and I want the URL actually be /impressum anyway since the site is in German and has German URLs). How to configure Google sitemap links in Wordpress (without editing its HTML or PHP source code)?

• Can AdSense crawler view pages that require cookies?

  Details I require users to agree to terms and conditions before they can view several pages on my site. Once they have agreed a cookie is set and they can proceed to the webpage. If a user somehow manages to end up on the webpage without a cookie they will not be able to access the page's content. My question(s) Is the AdSense crawler able to set the cookie and visit these pages? If yes, how will it know to agree to the TOS? Is there some way to allow it access to the pages even if it couldn't use cookies?

• SEO: Is promoting your backlinks a good strategy for improving search results for my site's name?

  I run a website that's been around for about three years in the sports space. I am successfully ranking well for targeted keywords, but searching for the name of my site itself returns very poor results - it shows my site, its FB/Twitter, and then 15 pages of unrelated spam that happen to contain two words that, when combined, form my website's name. After that, my backlinks begin to show up spordically. As far as I can tell, I simply don't have enough backlinks and the backlinks I do have are ranked worse than the spam. (Site Explorer lists 200 external links to any page on our domain and 20 external links directly to the front page). To counter this, my strategy is to promote my backlinks so they get a better page rank than the spam. Does that make sense? Am I going in the right direction or should I just focus on getting more backlinks pointing directly to my site? Thanks in advance and I'd be happy to answer any questions I can (without giving away my site of course).

• Moving a Domain Controller VM from one server to another

  I have a Hyper-V Virtual Machine that is a Domain Controller, specifically it is our main DC and holds all 5 FSMO roles. If I wanted to move this Virtual Machine to another VM Server than the one it is on currently, is it as simple as taking the .VHD, moving it to another server, and creating a VM in Hyper-V on the new server for it? Or are there other things to consider that could get screwed up from doing this? Thanks

• Advertising on personalized pages behind a login

  I am currently building a web app which requires a user to log in. After they log in, they can see the content they've added to the web app, and things that the web app has done with the content they added. The URL structure won't differentiate different users (e.g. all user's 'homepage' would be example.com/home, not something like example.com/username/home). This is much the same way that Facebook works (all FB user's messages are at facebook.com/messages, for example). This presents a problem with advertising. I know that you can use AdSense behind a login, but as far as I'm aware, that's for things like forums, where everyone sees the same things (which wouldn't be the case in this site). I also know that I could put AdSense on the pages without allowing it to log in, which would produce inferior ads. I'm fairly certain it would be against the Terms of Service to give AdSense a login to a 'dummy' account with typical content, as it would not be seeing the same thing as every other user (which is impossible, as they all see different things). So, my question is: Is there an ad network, or other method, that can serve ads behind a login, maybe based on keywords rather than content?

  Hello, I have to manage two domains : compagny.com copagny.bigcompagny.com I use Bind9 on Debian Lenny. I want to use one Zone file for both domains. If I ask for server.compagny.com, it will give me address 10.0.0.1 If I ask for server.compagny.bigcompagny.com, it will give me the same address 10.0.0.1 I don't want to create twice the same files for my DNS Server : Too hard to maintain. • Picasa(installed using Wine) unable to access some NTFS partitions again in Ubuntu 14.04?

  Recently I installed Picasa in my Ubuntu 14.04 using Wine. After performing a Wine configuration I was able to access all the images in the NTFS partitions on my hard disk. I performed Wine configuration as said in Why can an application installed using Wine not access NTFS partitions?. After 3 days, it became unable to access 2 NTFS partitions. But I can access 1 NTFS partition(named E, see image below). As you can see in the screenshot, I am unable to expand both D and F. How can I fix this issue permanently ?

• Can I connect two routers to one switch?

  I want to connect two routers to a switch which will then be connected to a modem. Now as far as I know a switch does not do network translation and this won't work with one IP address. So I bought two addresses at my ISP. Attached is a simple schematic that explains what I want to do. Is there any additional configuration needed on either of the routers (Linksys WRT54GL) to make this work or will it "Just Work"?

• Why is the font spacing on some websites broken?

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Studio 15 and so far am really impressed. I could not find a solution for my problem by googling. The fonts on some websites do not have proper spacing. they overlap and are very hard to read that way. I am using the Ubuntu standard fonts and have not changed them after installing. Here is a screencap that shows my problem. The problem occurs in Firefox and Chrome the same way, and on the same websites. Thanks for your help. Best regards el

• How to make Thunderbird play nice with Google mail

  Thunderbird and gmail aren't exactly the best of friends. Gmail's tags mean that Thunderbird often downloads multiple copies of a single mail. Anything tagged in gmail will appear in a folder related to that tag, the "all mail" folder, and possibly the "inbox" and "sent mail" folders too. Thus a mail with multiple tags could potentially be stored more than four times in a local Thunderbird cache. This can make searching difficult, and is obviously wasteful of disk space. The best solution I have come up with is as follows. Operate a zero inbox policy (i.e. use the inbox for processing live mail only and archive everything else) which eliminates an extra copy in the inbox. Secondly, configure Thunderbird not to sync the "Sent Mail" folder - this is a bit of a pain, since I actually find it quite useful to be able to look through just the mails I've sent, but a search can duplicate this functionality. In this way, most of the duplicates are removed, and only mail with tags is stored locally more than once. Ideally, however, I'd only like one copy of each mail to be stored locally. I am surprised Thunderbird doesn't store mail by some sort of hashing algorithm to prevent precisely this problem - but it wouldn't be compatible with the way the folders are mirrored in a local directory structure, I suppose. Can anyone think of a better way to get Thunderbird to cache a Google mail account locally efficiently.

  I created several campaigns using the MS adcenter. I'm targeting the whole world at any time with 2-3 placement texts per keyword group. The bids I placed are sometimes quite high, so they should get displayed. When I try to search for my keywords in Bing nothing gets displayed, though there is plenty of space for it. Bing mostly displays 2-3 ads, but the ones at the right side rather seldom. I'd like to know, how I can improve the fact that my ads are not being displayed - without increasing the bids any further.

When my site comes up in a Google search, there are 2 links displayed underneath: I believe these links are called "Google sitemap" and my question is how to configure them in Wordpress. Because while the right link is pointing to the /ueber-mich URL at the website, the left link was pointing to an non-existing /imprint and I had to add that webpage as a workaround for now. And I'd like to change the /imprint to German /impressum anyway (currently I use mod_rewrite to redirect). UPDATE: Dear downvoters and movers, would you mind to READ my question please? My question has been about how to configure Google sitemap links in Wordpress.   I am currently running three websites using adsense. Since i do this more to be useful than to earn something, i have a subdomain of a free hoster and my websites live in subfolders e.q. mydomain.hoster.com/website1, mydomain.hoster.com/website2, to which i link with .tk aliases. Is there a way to distinguish adsense income from website1 to website 2? I tried using custom channels, but somehow this part of adsense eludes me. Can someone shed some light on this?

  I'm trying to setup a Goal URL with REGEX matching but it's not working. The Url I'm trying to match is: user/12345/edit?registration=1 with "12345" being the userid that changes. user/[0-9]*/edit?registration=1 Should work, but doesn't. When I do an advanced search for pages with RegEx match (in the new GA interface) it shows no results. If I search for "contains" /edit?registration=1 it shows all the Urls. What am I missing?

  I am trying to make it easier for search engines to crawl my website, as it is almost 100% dynamic. I have a couple of transparent images which are actually links to sections of my page. I wonder, if I add an "alt" attribute containing space characters to explain the target, will this improve SE rankings etc? For example: <img src="blabla.png" alt="post new classified"> Or will this just result in errors? Ànd, what should I put in the alt attribute if I can't use space?   Welcome to Ubuntu and the lack of support( 12.04 LOS ). If I say Ubuntu 12.04 is a so so broken OS, I will get flamed. But if I ask for help, I can here the crickets chirruping. Unix/Linux user have an attitude and really don't like to share info. Because if they help everyone, they wouldn't have anyone to call a noob. Then their moms basement wouldn't be the same without being able to flame Ubuntu noobs. I am going back to windows I don't have to spend all day trying to get a single app or option to work. Sure Ubuntu is fun to tinker with but it is not a professional consumer OS. Windows is a better consumer based os, I don't need server software(Unix) that's been broken and hacked to be used like windows(Ubuntu). All the time I have wasted trying to get Ubuntu to work CORRECTLY cost me more the Windows 7 ultimate by far. HOW MUCH IS YOUR TIME WORTH. If you are unemployed and have all night to set in your moms basement and flame noobs then Ubuntu is for you. If you want to use an external monitor on your notebook or download Adobe reader use Windows 7. When are we going to stop complaining about corporate giants like Microsoft and admit they have great products. Gave it a shot, did work for me, I have better things to do with my time. bye Ubuntu

  Hi, I have been doing Objective-C programming over the past few weeks, and I have learnt a lot. However, I see that there are other Web-companies offering services to consumers directly from their website that allow consumers to create their apps through a point and click and drag features without any code. Clearly they are more cost effective and fast than having a developer write an app. I was wondering if there are any advantages then of having a developer build an app for someone, other than the obvious advantage that its got a custom look and feel. Could someone please clarify, since Im new and would like to evaluate whether it is worthwhile spending time towards learning a whole new development environment when someone could just use a webservice to make an app for multiple platforms Thanks
