  • Relating text fields to check boxes in Java

    This program requires the user to login and request a database to access. The program then gets a connection object, searches through the database storing the column names into a vector for later use. The problem comes with implementing text fields to allow the user to search for specific values within the database. I can get the check boxes and text fields to appear using a gridlayout and add them to a panel. How do I relate the text fields to their appropriate check box? I've tried adding them to a vector, but then they can't also be added to the panel as well. I've searched for a way to name the text fields as the loop cycles through the column names, but it seems impossible to do without having them declared ahead of time. This can't be done either, as it's impossible to determine the attributes that the user will request. I just need to be able to know the names of the text fields so I can test to see if the user entered information and perform the necessary logic. Let me know if you have to see the rest of the code to give an answer, but hopefully you get the general idea of what I'm trying to accomplish.   • Java how to load modules

    heres my problem: im building a server that loads modules. each module is a .jar file. inside the jar theres all the classes that the module need. the server needs to read the jar, find the main class (it doesnt have the main method on it is just the class that makes the module work but not as a different program), build an object of that class and store it in a vector of modules so that it can acces to a specific module depending on the job to be done. how can i do that? as far as the server, it is listening and reciving request, but thes no modules to delegate the job to, since my vector of modules is empty

  • java oracle cusor is closed where cursor is not return to jdbc

    I am executing a stored procedure which has 2 cusors within the stored procedure. The 1st cursor which is not return to the jdbc as a resultset is closed within the stored procedure. The 2nd cursor which returns the resultset to the jdbc is not closed within the stored procedure. Upon executing I encounter cursor is closed exception which is puzzling. Since the ResultSet will close all underlying cursor upon invoking the close() method

  • Is there a faster method to match an arbitrary String to month name in Java

    Hello, I want to determine if a string is the name of a month and I want to do it relatively quickly. The function that is currently stuck in my brain is something like: boolean isaMonth( String str ) { String[] months = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getMonths(); String[] shortMonths = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getShortMonths(); int i; for( i = 0; i<months.length(); ++i;) { if( months[i].equals(str) ) return true; if( shortMonths[i].equals(str ) return true; } return false; } However, I will be processing lots of text, passed one string at a time to this function, and most of the time I will be getting the worst case of going through the entire loop and returning false. I saw another question that talked about a Regex to match a month name and a year which could be adapted for this situation. Would the Regex be faster? Is there any other solution that might be faster?

    I'm having some difficulties with the following problem: I'm making a little game where you're at a specific spot and each spot has each some possible directions. The available directions are N(ord),E(ast),S,W . I use the function getPosDirections to get the possible directions of that spot. The function returns the directions into an ArrayList<String> e.g. for spot J3: [E,W] Now the game goes like this: 2 dice will be rolled so you get a number between 2 and 12, this number represents the number of steps you can make. What I want is an ArrayList of all the possible routes e.g.: I throw 3 and I'm currently at spot J3: [[E,N,E],[E,N,S],[E,S,E],[E,S,S],[W,N,E],[W,N,S],[W,S,E],[W,S,S]] How would obtain the last mentioned Array(list)?

    Let's suggest that I have a bean defined in Spring: <bean id="neatBean" class="com..." abstract="true">...</bean> Then we have many clients, each of which have slightly different configuration for their 'neatBean'. The old way we would do it was to have a new file for each client (e.g., clientX_NeatFeature.xml) that contained a bunch of beans for this client (these are hand-edited and part of the code base): <bean id="clientXNeatBean" parent="neatBean"> <property id="whatever" value="something"/> </bean> Now, I want to have a UI where we can edit and redefine a client's neatBean on the fly. My question is: given a neatBean, and a UI that can 'override' properties of this bean, what would be a straightforward way to serialize this to an XML file as we do [manually] today? For example, if the user set property whatever to be "17" for client Y, I'd want to generate: <bean id="clientYNeatBean" parent="neatBean"> <property id="whatever" value="17"/> </bean> Note that moving this configuration to a different format (e.g., database, other-schema'd-xml) is an option, but not really an answer to the question at hand.

Offering both options is important for what I need. Does anyone have a recommendation how should I structure the repository.     Why is the following syntax correct: x = y+++y; (Where it means y++ + y or y + ++y which both mean y * 2 + 1) But this is not valid syntax: x = y+++++y; (Which should mean y++ + ++y, which must mean y and increase y and then add ++y which increases y thus y * 2 + 2) Is there a reason for this?

I'm trying to parse this XML file with XPath, but I can't get the child categories of a category. How can I do this with XPath? is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone, In my code, all of the scripts are contained in .js files. Whenever one of the scripts contains an error, I get this: javax.script.ScriptException: sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.EcmaError: ReferenceError: "nonexistant" is not defined. (<Unknown source>#5) in <Unknown source> at line number 5 What bugs me is the <Unknown Source>. Multiple files are in one ScriptContext, and it can be hard to track down an error. It also looks horrible. Is there a way to replace <Unknown Source> with the actual file name? None of the methods I see support passing a File object, so I'm really confused here.

    i'm having a problem loading an image from a package i created in the project that was set to contain images, i have to write the whole picture location in the computer instead of just the package that contains it. i've tried several things but nothing seams to work... where is the command i use to load the image : searchBar = ImageIO.read(new File("C:\\Users\\ASUS\\Documents\\NetBeansProjects\\Project\\src\\Images\\search.jpg")); "Images" is a package in my project , this works, but when i try loading the image without the "C:\..." only with the "\Images..." it doesn't , so i have to change it every time i open this project in another computer. hopefully one of u has the answer for me , thanks in advance for any answer :)

  • Waiting for a subset of threads in a Java ThreadPool

    Let's say I have a thread pool containing X items, and a given task employs Y of these items (where Y is much smaller than X). I want to wait for all of the threads of a given task (Y items) to finish, not the entire thread pool. If the thread pool's execute() method returned a reference to the employed thread I could simply join() to each of these Y threads, but it doesn't. Does anyone know of an elegant way to accomplish this? Thanks.

    ok so im making my own Matrix class. and i have a transpose method that transposes a matrix. this is the block in the main method Matrix m1 = new Matrix(4,2); m1.fillMatrix(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8); System.out.println("before " + m1.toString()); m1.transpose(); System.out.println("after " + m1.toString()); this is where it gets messed up, at m1.transpose(); in the transpose() method public Matrix transpose() { if(isMatrix2) { Matrix tempMatrix = new Matrix(row, col); // matrix2 contents are emptied once this line is executed for(int i=0; i < row; i++) { for(int j=0; j < col; j++) tempMatrix.matrix2[i][j] = matrix2[i][j]; } so for some reason, the tempMatrix.matrix2 has the same id as this.matrix2. so when the codes executes Matrix tempMatrix = new Matrix(row,col); then the contents of this.matrix2 is emptied. anyone know what might be going on here?

    I need to run some code for a predefined length of time, when the time is up it needs to stop. Currently I am using a TimerTask to allow the code to execute for a set amount of time but this is causing endless threads to be created by the code and is just simply not efficient.
