• Jquery calendar and tab sliding div clash...

  Hey all, i am trying my best to figure out another way around this problem i seem to have encountered. On my website i have a jquery calendar and also a jquery div tab slider (this: http://www.queness.com/resources/html/tabmenu/jquery-tabbed-menu-queness.html). The problem comes into play with the DIV tag. The calender loads up inside a DIV with a id of 'calender'. The CSS for the tabs have the DIV hidden: CSS: .boxBody div {display:none;} .boxBody div.show {display:block;} .boxBody #category a {display:block;} And because of that, the calender never shows on the page. However, if i comment out that css code above, it shows up but does not cover each section as it should. • NSOperation unable to load data on the TableView

• C# Windows Service XML

  Scenario I have a windows service written in C# that performs some processing based on parsing an XML file and use that data to carry out various tasks. The service also does various bits of logging - which uses settings from an APP.Config file. The Problem When the service is compiled, installed and run, the XML file seems to disappear. I'm getting the impression that it is just ignored or something like that. So far I've tried using TWO App.Config files, one named App.Config that contains settings for the service, and the other called MyService.exe.config that contains all of the data that was used in the XML file (the idea being that I can parse the XML from a config file that actually gets compiled and appears in my installation directory. However When I do this, all that happens is that ONE config file appears (with the name MyService.exe.config), but it contains the contents of the App.Config file and not the XML data that I want to parse. What I need All I want is to have a config file for my settings, and an XML file for my data. Question Is this possible? I know the application works as it was originally built as a console application that ran fine. Other The application has to be designed this way (as in, I need my data stored as XML, and my settings stored in a config file). Thoughts If I could somehow combine the contents of the two files into ONE config file, that would be one way of solving the problem. However, I have tried this and of course I get a "Type Initialisation Exception", as the config file cannot interprate the XML data (probably because the tags are custom and do not form any part of the config schema - or something like that). Ideas Please could someone explain to me if it is possible for me to have an XML file AND a config file that will actually be compiled and stored in my installation directory for the service when it is run? • Fast multi-window rendering with C#

  I've been searching and testing different kind of rendering libraries for C# days for many weeks now. So far I haven't found a single library that works well on multi-windowed rendering setups. The requirement is to be able to run the program on 12+ monitor setups (financial charting) without latencies on a fast computer. Each window needs to update multiple times every second. While doing this CPU needs to do lots of intensive and time critical tasks so some of the burden has to be shifted to GPUs. That's where hardware rendering steps in, in another words DirectX or OpenGL. I have tried GDI+ with windows forms and figured it's way too slow for my needs. I have tried OpenGL via OpenTK (on windows forms control) which seemed decently quick (I still have some tests to run on it) but painfully difficult to get working properly (hard to find/program good text rendering libraries). Recently I tried DirectX9, DirectX10 and Direct2D with Windows forms via SharpDX. I tried a separate device for each window and a single device/multiple swap chains approaches. All of these resulted in very poor performance on multiple windows. For example if I set target FPS to 20 and open 4 full screen windows on different monitors the whole operating system starts lagging very badly. Rendering is simply clearing the screen to black, no primitives rendered. CPU usage on this test was about 0% and GPU usage about 10%, I don't understand what is the bottleneck here? My development computer is very fast, i7 2700k, AMD HD7900, 16GB ram so the tests should definitely run on this one. In comparison I did some DirectX9 tests on C++/Win32 API one device/multiple swap chains and I could open 100 windows spread all over the 4-monitor workspace (with 3d teapot rotating on them) and still had perfectly responsible operating system (fps was dropping of course on the rendering windows quite badly to around 5 which is what I would expect running 100 simultaneous renderings). Does anyone know any good ways to do multi-windowed rendering on C# or am I forced to re-write my program in C++ to get that performance (major pain)? I guess I'm giving OpenGL another shot before I go the C++ route... I'll report any findings here. • How to structure a Kohana MVC application with dynamically added fields and provide validation and f

  I've got a bit of a problem. I have a Kohana application that has dynamically added fields. The fields that are added are called DISA numbers. In the model I look these up and the result is returned as an array. I encode the array into a JSON string and use JQuery to populate them The View knows the length of the array and so creates as many DISA elements as required before display. See the code below for a summary of how that works. What I'm finding is that this is starting to get difficult to manage. The code is becoming messy. Error handling of this type of dynamic content is ending up being spread all over the place. Not only that, it doesn't work how I want. What you see here is just a small snippet of code. For error handling I am using the validation library. I started by using add_rules on all the fields that come back in the post. As they are always phone numbers I set a required rule (when it's there) and a digit rule on the validation-as_array() keys. That works. The difficulty is actually giving it back to the view. i.e. dynamically added javascript field. Submits back to form. Save contents into a session. View has to load up fields from database + those from the previous post and signal the fields that have problems. It's all quite messy and I'm getting this code spread through both the view the controller and the model. So my question is. Have you done this before in Kohana and how have you handled it? There must be an easier way right? • Why does File::Slurp return a scalar when it should return a list?

  I am new to the File::Slurp module, and on my first test with it, it was not giving the results I was expecting. It took me a while to figure it out, so now I am interested in why I was seeing this certain behavior. My call to File::Slurp looked like this: my @array = read_file( $file ) || die "Cannot read $file\n"; I included the "die" part because I am used to doing that when opening files. My @array would always end up with the entire contents of the file in the first element of the array. Finally I took out the "|| die" section, and it started working as I expected. I have a feeling this might be more of a Perl precedence question instead of a File::Slurp question. I looked in the File::Slurp module and it looks like it is set to croak if there is a problem, so I guess the proper way to do it is to allow File::Slurp to croak for you.   I currently use DNS round robin for load balancing, which works great. The records look like this (I have a ttl of 120 seconds) ;; ANSWER SECTION: orion.2x.to. 116 IN A 80.237.201.41 orion.2x.to. 116 IN A 87.230.54.12 orion.2x.to. 116 IN A 87.230.100.10 orion.2x.to. 116 IN A 87.230.51.65 I learned that not every ISP / device treats such a response the same way. For example some DNS servers rotate the addresses randomly or always cycle them through. Some just propagate the first entry, others try to determine which is best (regionally near) by looking at the ip address. However if the userbase is big enough (spreads over multiple ISPs etc) it balances pretty well. The discrepancies from highest to lowest loaded server hardly every exceeds 15%. However now I have the problem that I am introducing more servers into the systems, that not all have the same capacities. I currently only have 1gbps servers, but I want to work with 100mbit and also 10gbps servers too. So what I want is I want to introduce a server with 10 GBps with a weight of 100, a 1 gbps server with a weight of 10 and a 100 mbit server with a weight of 1. I used to add servers twice to bring more traffic to them (which worked nice. the bandwidth doubled almost.) But adding a 10gbit server 100 times to DNS is a bit rediculous. So I thought about using the TTL. If I give server A 240 seconds ttl and server B only 120 seconds (which is about about the minimum to use for round robin, as a lot of dns servers set to 120 if a lower ttl is specified.. so i have heard) I think something like this should occour in an ideal scenario: first 120 seconds 50% of requests get server A -> keep it for 240 seconds. 50% of requests get server B -> keep it for 120 seconds second 120 seconds 50% of requests still have server A cached -> keep it for another 120 seconds. 25% of requests get server A -> keep it for 240 seconds 25% of requests get server B -> keep it for 120 seconds third 120 seconds 25% will get server A (from the 50% of Server A that now expired) -> cache 240 sec 25% will get server B (from the 50% of Server A that now expired) -> cache 120 sec 25% will have server A cached for another 120 seconds 12.5% will get server B (from the 25% of server B that now expired) -> cache 120sec 12.5% will get server A (from the 25% of server B that now expired) -> cache 240 sec fourth 120 seconds 25% will have server A cached -> cache for another 120 secs 12.5% will get server A (from the 25% of b that now expired) -> cache 240 secs 12.5% will get server B (from the 25% of b that now expired) -> cache 120 secs 12.5% will get server A (from the 25% of a that now expired) -> cache 240 secs 12.5% will get server B (from the 25% of a that now expired) -> cache 120 secs 6.25% will get server A (from the 12.5% of b that now expired) -> cache 240 secs 6.25% will get server B (from the 12.5% of b that now expired) -> cache 120 secs 12.5% will have server A cached -> cache another 120 secs ... i think i lost something at this point but i think you get the idea.... As you can see this gets pretty complicated to predict and it will for sure not work out like this in practice. But it should definitely have an effect on the distribution! I know that weighted round robin exists and is just controlled by the root server. It just cycles through dns records when responding and returns dns records with a set propability that corresponds to the weighting. My DNS server does not support this, and my requirements are not that precise. If it doesnt weight perfectly its okay, but it should go into the right direction. I think using the TTL field could be a more elegant and easier solution - and it deosnt require a dns server that controls this dynamically, which saves resources - which is in my opinion the whole point of dns load balancing vs hardware load balancers. My question now is... are there any best prectices / methos / rules of thumb to weight round robin distribution using the TTL attribute of DNS records? Edit: The system is a forward proxy server system. The amount of Bandwidth (not requests) exceeds what one single server with ethernet can handle. So I need a balancing solution that distributes the bandwidth to several servers. Are there any alternative methods than using DNS? Of course I can use a load balancer with fibre channel etc, but the costs are rediciulous and it also increases only the width of the bottleneck and does not eliminate it. The only thing i can think of are anycast (is it anycast or multicast?) ip addresses, but I don't have the means to set up such a system.

• Using the FreeType lib to create text bitmaps to draw in OpenGL 3.x

  At the moment I not too sure where my problem is. I can draw loaded images as textures no problem, however when I try to generate a bitmap with a char on it I just get a black box. I am confident that the problem is when I generate and upload the texture. Here is the method for that; the top section of the if statement just draws an texture of a image loaded from file (res/texture.jpg) and that draws perfectly. And the else part of the if statement will try to generate and upload a texture with the char (variable char enter) on. • Mandatory profile on Terminal server fails to load. Userenv.log debug

  Hi, We're having a lot of corrupted profiles lately on our profile share. At the moment I have no clue why, but I decided to switch to one mandatory profile since the users can all use the same and there is no need to have seperate profiles for each user. Here's what I did. I logged into the Terminal server with a new user and configured some stuff (imported certificates and a few files). Then I logged out. Later as admin I copied the profile to another server and renamed it to bsilo. I made sure the user hive settings were adjusted. Everyone had access to the hive. I shared the bsilo folder with full access for everyone. I set the NTFS permissions to read, read & execute, list folder contents for domain users. I also renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN. Now I set a env variable %manprofile% on the Terminal server that points to \server\bsilo\ntuser.man I set the env var as terminal services profile path for a test user. When I log in I as the user get the following output The system cannot find the path specified. Can somebody point me in the right direction. • Error using Session in IIS7

  After deployment of my website to IIS I'm getting a following error message when trying to access session: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration. I access it in Page_Load or PreRender events (I tried both versions). With VS Dev Server it works without a problem. I tried both InProc an SessionState storage, 1 and multiple woker processes. I added a enableSessionState = "true" to my webpage explicitly. • MySQL port 3306 blocked in csf yet can still telnet to port 3306 from external host

  We have a Centos 6 VPS that was recently migrated to a new machine within the same web hosting company. It's running WHM/cPanel and has csf/lfd installed. csf is set up with mostly vanilla config. I'm no iptables expert, csf has not let me down before. If a port isn't in the TCP_IN list, it should be blocked on the firewall by iptables. My problem is that I can telnet to port 3306 from an external host, yet I think iptables ought to be blocking 3306 because of csf's rules. We are now failing a security check because of this open port. (this output is obfuscated to protect the innocent: www.ourhost.com is the host with the firewall problem) [root@nickfenwick log]# telnet www.ourhost.com 3306 Trying 158.255.45.107... Connected to www.ourhost.com. Escape character is '^]'. HHost 'nickfenwick.com' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL serverConnection closed by foreign host. So the connection is established, and MySQL refuses the connection due to its configuration. I need the network connection to be refused at the firewall level, before it reaches MySQL.   I have a peculiar problem that I just can't seem to find an explanation. I'm working on an AngularJS site for our family and am integrating data from various web services. Currently I am working on the photos section which will integrate in photos from our Flickr account. I have a main page which lists the various photo sets and displays the set's primary photo along with the title. Even going directly to the second page, bypassing the first page, still fails. Any ideas on how to fix this? It would be nice to test locally without having to upload to the server each time I make a change. Update: I have shut off the $sce security to see if that was causing the issue. I have used the developer tools' network monitor and it doesn't even show an attempt to retrieve the files. • In Exim, is RBL spam rejected prior to being scanned by SpamAssassin?

  I've recently been battling spam issues on our mail server. One account in particular was getting hammered with incoming spam. SpamAssassin's memory use is one of our concerns. What I've done is enable RBLs in Exim. I now see many rejection notices in the Exim log based on the various RBLs, which is good. However, when I run Eximstats, the numbers seem to be the same as they were prior to the enabling of the RBLs. I am assuming because the email is still logged in some way prior to the rejection. Is that what's happening, or am I missing something else? Does anyone know if these emails are rejected prior to being processed by SpamAssassin? Or does anyone know how I'd be able to find out? Is there a standard way to generate SpamAssassin stats, similar to Eximstats, so that I could compare the numbers? Thank you for your time and any advice. • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated.   This will probably just be a simple problem and I am just blind or an idiot but I could use some help. So I am going over some basic guides in Rails, reviewing the basics and such for an upcoming exam. One of the guides included was the sort-of-standard getting started guide over at guide.rubyonrails.org. Here is the link if you need it. Also all my code is for my app is from there, so I have no problem releasing any of my code since it should be the same as shown there. I didn't do a copy paste, but I basically was typing with Vim in one half of my screen and the web page in the other half, typing what I see. http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html So like I said, I am going along the guide when I noticed past a certain point in the tutorial, I was always getting an error on the site. To find the section of code, just hit Ctrl+f on the page (or whatever you have search/find set to) and enter "accepts_". • Help with specific Regex: need to match multiple instances of multiple formats in a single string.

  I apologize for the terrible title...it can be hard to try to summarize an entire situation into a single sentence. Let me start by saying that I'm asking because I'm just not a Regex expert. I've used it a bit here and there, but I just come up short with the correct way to meet the following requirements. The Regex that I'm attempting to write is for use in an XML schema for input validation, and used elsewhere in Javascript for the same purpose. There are two different possible formats that are supported. There is a literal string, which must be surrounded by quotation marks, and a Hex-value string which must be surrounded by braces. Some test cases: "this is a literal string" <-- Valid string, enclosed properly in "s "this should " still be correct" <-- Valid string, "s are allowed within (if possible, this requirement could be forgiven if necessary) "{00 11 22}" <-- Valid string, {}'s allow in strings. Another one that can be forgiven if necessary I am bad output <-- Invalid string, no "s "Some more problemss"you know <-- Invalid string, must be fully contained in "s {0A 68 4F 89 AC D2} <-- Valid string, hex characters enclosed in {}s {DDFF1234} <-- Valid string, spaces are ignored for Hex strings DEADBEEF <-- Invalid string, must be contained in either "s or {}s {0A 12 ZZ} <-- Invalid string, 'Z' is not a valid Hex character To satisfy these general requirements, I had come up with the following Regex that seems to work well enough. I'm still fairly new to Regex, so there could be a huge hole here that I'm missing.: &quot;.+&quot;|\{([0-9]|[a-f]|[A-F]| )+\} If I recall correctly, the XML Schema regex automatically assumes beginning and end of line (^ and $ respectively). So, essentially, this regex accepts any string that starts and ends with a ", or starts and ends with {}s and contains only valid Hexidecimal characters. This has worked well for me so far except that I had forgotten about another (although less common, and thus forgotten) input option that completely breaks my regex. Where I made my mistake: Valid input should also allow a user to separate valid strings (of either type, literal/hex) by a comma. This means that a single string should be able to contain more than one of the above valid strings, separated by commas. Luckily, however, a comma is not a supported character within a literal string (although I see that my existing regex does not care about commas). Example test cases: "some string",{0A F1} <-- Valid {1122},{face},"peanut butter" <-- Valid {0D 0A FF FE},"string",{FF FFAC19 85} <-- Valid (Spaces don't matter in Hex values) "Validation is allowed to break, if a comma is found not separating values",{0d 0a} <-- Invalid, comma is a delimiter, but "Validation is allowed to break" and "if a comma..." are not marked as separate strings with "s hi mom,"hello" <-- Invalid, String1 was not enclosed properly in "s or {}s My thoughts are that it is possible to use commas as a delimiter to check each "section" of the string to match a regex similar to the original, but I just am not that advanced in regex yet to come up with a solution on my own. • How to Force an Exception from a Task to be Observed in a Continuation Task?

  I have a task to perform an HttpWebRequest using Task<WebResponse>.Factory.FromAsync(req.BeginGetRespone, req.EndGetResponse) which can obviously fail with a WebException. To the caller I want to return a Task<HttpResult> where HttpResult is a helper type to encapsulate the response (or not). In this case a 4xx or 5xx response is not an exception. Therefore I've attached two continuations to the request task. One with TaskContinuationOptions OnlyOnRanToCompletion and the other with OnlyOnOnFaulted. And then wrapped the whole thing in a Task<HttpResult> to pick up the one result whichever continuation completes. Each of the three child tasks (request plus two continuations) is created with the AttachedToParent option. But when the caller waits on the returned outer task, an AggregateException is thrown is the request failed. I want to, in the on faulted continuation, observe the WebException so the client code can just look at the result. Adding a Wait in the on fault continuation throws, but a try-catch around this doesn't help. Nor does looking at the Exception property (as section "Observing Exceptions By Using the Task.Exception Property" hints here). I could install a UnobservedTaskException event handler to filter, but as the event offers no direct link to the faulted task this will likely interact outside this part of the application and is a case of a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Given an instance of a faulted Task<T> is there any means of flagging it as "fault handled"?   I am attempting to setup BugZilla to receive but reports from another system using the XML-RPC interface. BugZilla works fine on its own with its own interface. When I attempt to test the XML-RPC functionality by accessing "xmlrpc.cgi" in my browser I get the error: The XML-RPC Interface feature is not available in this Bugzilla at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 27 main::BEGIN(...) called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 eval {...} called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 Following this I install test-taint package from the default perl repository, this installs version 1.04. Re-running "xmlrpc.cgi" gives me an IIS error: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server. So I run the checksetup.pl which inform me that: Use of uninitialized value in open at C:/Perl/site/lib/Test/Taint.pm line 334, <DATA> line 558. Installing Test-Taint from CPAN is the same. I assume XML-RPC is relent on Test-Taint, but Test-Taint doesn't seem to run correctly. If I ignore this error and attempt to invoke "bz_webservice_demo.pl" to add an entry the script times out. How can I get the XML-RPC / Test-Taint function working ?
