  Hello, I am developing on to a Groupon clone app called Couponic on behalf of a client. Can anyone help in pinpointing how Couponic generates user passwords? I want to be able to generate new passwords in the same method Couponic uses in a separate PHP script if possible, so that users of an existing site will also be able to log in to the Couponic site without re-creating an account. Couponic is built using the YII PHP framework, I can't find anything in the YII documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a jobs website. There are categories and sub categories e.g the url for builders is www.mydomain.com/jobs/all/active/202/tradesmen/799/builders/county/all Because of the framework im using (Elgg), the "all" and "active" come after the plugin name. Also, i need to do a lot of things with the url: get the pplugin (job), get the correct type of entities (all and active), get the category (202 and tradesmen), get the subcategory (799 & builders) and get the location (county and all). Is this URL seo friendly or is it too messy? Is something like www.mydomain.com/jobs/tradesmen/builders/all better?

  Currently I am developing an RTS game using XNA ( / ANX.Framework ). There is one thing bothers me. I am not sure in what way or how to organise Buffers. Should I use a new Vertexbuffer for any object ( e.g. a Char, a Table, an model ) or is it better to use ONE HUGE/ BIG Buffer to store any geometry in? I am still new to 3D Programming though I finished yet couple games using DirectX 9. Well, I hope this question qin't a duplicate and I appreciate any answer leading me into the right direction.

  I have a site which lets users buy & sell tickets, but it's built on wordpress & buddypress. So it's very heavy and messy. I would like to re-do the whole site on something lighter, cleaner and solid. The main functionality for user would have to be as follows: Register or login via Facebook. Create events and sell tickets to them. See ticket sales statistics Upload photos and associate those with events. Buy event tickets, print pdf ticket. Comment, favourite and like events. What would be your suggestions? PHP framework? CMS? CMF? I must say that I'm a front-end dev so building a system from scratch on my own would take a while. I'd be interested more in a "skeleton" app solution or something similar.

• Comparisons of Javascript 'data grids'?

  I've found plenty of questions between here and StackExchange of people asking for the 'best' data grid / data table, or one that has a particular feature, and plenty of lists out there (of various ages) listing the various data grid implementations ... but is anyone aware of any matrix of what features the various solutions implement? (eg, allow shift-click to select multiple; support checkboxes for selection; can update a regular table in-place; allow editing of cells; support websql or indexeddb for local caching; which browsers they support; infinite scroll; etc.) There's a generic 'javascript framework' comparison on wikipedia, which would be the sort of thing I'm looking for, but it doesn't go into detail on data grids. (which makes sense, as so many are extensions, not core features of those frameworks, and in the case of jQuery, there's lots of 'em.)

  I love PHP and C# languages and i want to be excellent in both. I like to develop PHP applications using MySQL, Nginx, Memcached and so on technologies. I also like ASP.NET MVC stack and think it's great tools. But each technology requires a lot of time to master it. The same is true for C# web stack - there is a huge amount of things to be mastered like Azure, LINQ, Entity Framework ets. Mastering PHP means knowing how it works under the hood. Mastering C# means knowing CLR implementations on a deep level, knowing MSIL etc/ Where to get time for all this? Maybe this is "jack of all trades"? What can you advice?

So my question is: What is apache tomcat and why we need it? Can't we deploy any piece of code or any application without apache tomcat? For windows, what framework we need to deploy(or same tomcat can be used for same)?   I am the lead developer on a thick client web app (Java swing) which we're looking at recreating as a web app. We're part way through some initial work, have chosen a framework on the server and integrated with our previous backend code. We're just starting to get into the client side of things, looking at javascript frameworks etc. The previous system was pretty sensibly architected so the logic is already serverside. The challenge ahead of us is really about redeveloping the user interface rather than anything else. What would be the list of things to consider in redeveloping the entire user interface for any application? I'm trying to get an idea of how large a task might still be ahead of me and the team.

  What would be a good MVC/OOP/GRASP/SOLID structure for a search/replace functionality. Methods: search/searchNext/replace/replaceAll. I'm interested only in the PHP arhitecture and how a professional developer would implement this in it's OWN FRAMEWORK. What names would you use for the classes? What subfolders would you used in your MODEL folder? How would you connect the MODELS/CONTROLLER? This is just a arhitecture question to understand better the principles of good OOP in practice. My current implementation is very simplistic using a service model: /controller/SearchReplaceController.php /models/services/SearchReplaceService.php The problem with this is I know I'm breaking SRP in the service but I found this somehow acceptable.
