• How to solve using Flex Builder 3 and BlazeDS?

  I am using Flex builder 3, BlazeDS, and Java with Spring and Hibernate framework. I using the remote object to load a string from spring's configuration files. But in testing, I found this fault event like this: RPC Fault faultString="java.lang.NullPointerException" faultCode="Server.Processing" faultDetail="null" I have checked the configuration in remote-config.xml and services-config.xml. But it looks good. Some people have talked about this problem around the Internet and I think you can help me and them. • Shared library linking and loading in BusyBox 0.61

  Does anybody know how the dynamic linking and shared library loading works in BusyBox 0.61 ? I can't seem to find how this is done. There's no 'ld' present on the embedded system I'm dealing with, nor is there an LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable set anywhere. My motivation for this is to be able to create a symlink in the /lib directory to another directory on a different device (with considerably more storage space) for adding in more shared libraries, as the file system that contains /lib is a ramdisk that gets reloaded on startup and is within a few kb of being completely full (so we can't add more libraries to the image, nor can we obtain devices with more memory for the ramdisk)

  Hi ... The Environment: I am working for a college. We have a couple of labs (about 100 PCs) for students. At the end of the semester, the PCs will be full of viruses, corrupt system files, all sorts of illegal downloads etc. (everything you can expect from a student environment). At the end of the semester, we would like to wipe out all the systems and do a clean install (WindowsXP + a set of application suites) to get ready for the next batch of students. Question: Is there any free software that will enable an admin to deploy a clean disk image to all the PCs in one go?

• Element binding in Silverlight

  Where can I find some good documentation on data/element binding? My Google searches haven't turned much up. I had a custom class with two properties named Text and Value. When I tried binding a list to a listbox it wouldn't work. By chance I modifed my datatemplate from this <TextBox Text="{Binding Text}"></TextBox> to this <TextBox Text="{Binding Path=Text}"></TextBox> and then everything worked great. I need some indepth documenation/samples to data/element binding. I don't understand why some examples have the path set whereas others do not. A full explanation of this, and all other nice to know tips would be much appreciated.

• popen fails with "sh: <command>: not found"

  I'm developing a server application and I recently encountered this wierd error on a testing server (Debian Squeeze). Every executable I pass to popen fails with a msg: sh: sort: not found // happens to any command This happens regardless whether I point to the full path returned by "type" or keep it short . As mentioned earlier, this happens at only one testing environment, to add confusion, am running the same OS and had no problem whatsoever. Popen is apparently using sh to execute commands, but if I run the same command thru the prompt (bash or sh), everything's fine Thanks in advance (PS: even tried Python os.popen just to nail this head scratcher, and it works!)   On iPhone, how do I show a login screen to get username and password before giving access to iPhone app? Also, does the iPhone store a cookie to the secure website like a web browser? I was thinking of giving users to my website a long API key to store in the settings of their iPhone instead of asking them to login with a username/password (seems to be the Slicehost iPhone app approach.) Which is the best way to get a user to login securely? I have full control over the design of the iPhone app and website so have a lot of flexibility.

• Name of the concept of designing an interface to allow expert users to become more efficient?

  I'm searching for sources and further information on a particular concept in user experience design. It's not a particularly complicated concept, just that when designing user interfaces, you should both make it intuitive and simple for new users, but also provide way for users to become more efficient as they become more familiar with the application. An example could be including a prominent button for a common action for new users, but also providing a keyboard shortcut / mnemonic for expert users. However, that's just an example, another example could be providing full functionality through a GUI, but allow expert users to script the same actions. The point is it's more difficult to learn, but it makes them more efficient. I'm pretty sure there's a name for that which I can't recall, and I'm having trouble searching for sources and references on it.   I'm trying to take an existing bunch of code that was previously on a full .aspx page, and do the same stuff in a .ashx handler. The code created an HtmlTable object, added rows and cells to those rows, then added that html table the .aspx's controls collection, then added it to a div that was already on the page. I am trying to keep the code in tact but instead of putting the control into a div, actually generate the html and I'll return that in a big chunk of text that can be called via AJAX client-side. HtmlTable errors out when I try to use the InnerHtml property (says it isn't supported), and when I try RenderControl, after making first a TextWriter and next an HtmlTextWriter object, I get the error that Page cannot be null. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions?

• Asp.net 4.0 site fails because no handler mapped with Classic appPool

  When I create a Asp.net app and flip the appPool to "ASP.NET v4.0 Classic" it fails with the following error: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. After some searching it seems to be the handler not mapping correctly for the Classic mode but I can't find out where or how to fix that. I have the full .Net 4.0 install with VS2010 and the app works fine if I flip the appPool to Integrated. Also, it's a Windows 7 machine (I'm having the same problem on a Vista box).   Hi, I know it's possible in eclipse to open file browsers from your project's resource browser, but is it possible for files that aren't part of your project ? Typically external includes are not found in your resource browser... If there is the equivalent of $(resource_loc) for the editor, it would work.. But I wasn't able to find it. Can anyone help me on this ? thanks! JC EDIT : I Found StartExplorer, but it's a joke of a plug-in. It is hardcoded to use WINDOWS explorer or cmd.exe. Also, it still requires you to use the resource browser. Other than that it can open paths selected in the editor, but they must be full paths.

• Running a GWT application inside an IFRAME from an ASP.NET 3.5 app?

  We are looking at integrating a full-blown GWT (Google Web Toolkit 2.0) application with an existing ASP.NET 3.5 application. My first gut reaction is that this is a horrible frankenstein idea. However, the customer has insisted that we use this application developed by a third-party. I have almost NO CONTROL over the development of the GWT app. My first thought is to actually attempt to embed this in an iFrame. Because GWT is running under Tomcat/Jakarta, it is hosted on a different server from the .NET app so the iFrame src will be to a URL on the other machine. I need to utilize our own ASP.NET authorization scheme to restrict access to the embedded GWT application. The GWT app also uses embedded java applets, which don't seem to be working right now inside the iframe. Any major problems with this approach that anyone can see? Will GWT work on an iframe while hosted on a different machine?

  Eventually I would like to get to setting it up as a Rake task and do a cron job, but for right now...all I want to do is take my ruby script that used to work as a standalone script and have it work within my Rails app. I renamed the file to be .rake instead of .rb and tried doing rake my_script at the command-line, but that gave me this error message: rake aborted! Don't know how to build task 'my_script' (See full trace by running task with --trace) How do I run this script within my Rails environment? This is the first time I am doing something like this, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• "Filtering" Cells in a UITableView. Multiple Views? Subviews?

  (First question related to iPhone development, so apologies for sounding off-track.) I'm creating a view that has a few things; a UITabBarController controlling 3 UITableViews. Two of these TableViews are filtered versions of the 3rd. All of them will be making a JSON call (still working on that) to retrieve a list of objects. So, because these views are related in some way, would there be a more "sane" way to display this data? With say, subviews? Or would I have to just create 1 view for each that returns the desired data and be done with it? If it helps at all, I have full control over the API I'm talking with, so changes to that that help with this don't really matter to me too much. Thanks in advance!

  ...and are there any other caveat for other platforms? I create an app.config for a win forms project, for example Application.exe. By default I expect that at runtime my application is going to look for a file called Application.exe.config. But there seem to be exceptions to this, for example in a Windows Server 2003 environment an app will look for Application.config. The full path of the config file being searched for is different in Windows Server 2003, why is this? Where is the definition for these cosmic app.config loading rules?

• How to customize pickle for django model objects

  I need to pickle a complex object that refers to django model objects. The standard pickling process stores a denormalized object in the pickle. So if the object changes on the database between pickling and unpickling, the model is now out of date. (I know this is true with in-memory objects too, but the pickling is a convenient time to address it.) So what I'd like is a way to not pickle the full django model object. Instead just store its class and id, and re-fetch the contents from the database on load. Can I specify a custom pickle method for this class? I'm happy to write a wrapper class around the django model to handle the lazy fetching from db, if there's a way to do the pickling.

I had an .ascx page and had the following user control in it: <td> <Club:DatePicker ID="dp1" runat="server" /> </td> however in my code behind when I tried to write methods: public System.DateTime startDateTime { get { return dp1.SelectedDate.Add(tp1.SelectedTime.TimeOfDay); } set { dp1.SelectedDate = value; tp1.SelectedTime = value; } } It can't reference dp1(dp1 is underlined in red) as well as tp1... why is this?? I've tried to convert the solution to a web application and yet it doesn't work. • Watin from TeamCity not running as a Windows Service

  I'm trying to run Watin from within a TeamCity build, using nUnit. All tests run fine locally. I know you cannot run the full Watin tests (i.e. POST) from TeamCity if it is running as a Windows Service. You must start the build agent from a .bat file. But, I don't want to have to login to the server for it to start. I've tried getting a Scheduled Task (in Windows Server 2008) to fire the agent.bat file on StartUp (not Login), but with no luck. Has anyone else got Watin/TeamCity running from a Scheduled Task? Thanks, Pete
