  What are technical/programming/non-SEO pros and cons of www or no-www, for domains as well as sub-domains? From Jeff Atwood's twitter at http://twitter.com/codinghorror/status/1637428313 : "sort of regretting the no-www choice because it causes full cookie submission to ALL subdomains. :(" What does this mean? • Wrapping variable width text in emacs lisp

  I am hacking up a tagging application for emacs. I have got a tag cloud/weighted list successfully displaying on a buffer, but i am running into a snag. I need to be able to properly word-wrap the buffer, but I haven't a clue where to start. The font I am using is a variable width font. On top of that, each tag is going to be in a different size, depending on how many times it shows up on the buffer. Finally, the window that displays the tagcloud could be in a window that is 200 pixels wide, or the full screen width. I really have no idea where to start.   Hi in my application there is web browser control to show some static html pages. The pages are displayed properly. but images are not displayed.. I tried with changing src-path but no success. my html file is located at bin folder. And i am assigning it as. FileStream source = new FileStream(@"..\HtmlPages\supportHtml.html", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); if i open html files in browser, the images are displayed properly.. So, What is the correct path for images..?? If i set full path to src attribute of <img> tag..it works. but i think its not a proper way. :(

  Hey, I have always tried to have an integer primary key on a table no matter what. But now I am questioning if this is always necessary. Let's say I have a product table and each product has a globally unique SKU number - that would be a string of say 8-16 characters. Why not make this the PK? Typically I would make this field a unique index but then have an auto incrementing int field as the PK, as I assumed it would be faster, easier to maintain, and would allow me to do things like get the last 5 records added with ease. But in terms of optimisation, assuming I'd only ever be matching the full text field and next doing text matching queries (e.g. like %%) can you guys think of any reasons not to use a text based primary key, most likely of type varchar()? The XML looks like this: (fragment) <startingPoint coordinates="1,1" player="1" /> and so far my LINQ looks something like this: XNamespace ns = "http://the_namespace"; var startingpoints = from sp in xml.Elements(ns+"startingPoint") from el in sp.Attributes() select el.Value; Which gets me a nice IEnumerable full of things like "1,1" and "1", but there should be a way to adapt something like this answer to do attributes instead of elements.   Hi! I just installed the ruby-openid gem and then bundled it by entering gem 'ruby-openid', :require => 'openid' in the gemfile. Then I started bundle install and bundle lock. Everything worked fine so far. But how can I now access the classes of ruby-openid. OpenID::method won't work for me. It raises a not found error. What have I forgot or done wrong? I'm absolutely new to bundler and the internet full of solutions for various versions, but I need one solution that's surely working. I'm thankful for any help!

  I have a table full of Dealers along with their latitude and longitude. I am trying to determine the top n closest dealers to any given lat and lon. I already have the function to calculate distance between locations, but I want to do as few calculations as possible (my table can contain many thousands of entries). Currently I have to calculate the distance for each entry then sort them. Is there any way to sort before I do the calculation to improve performance? This question is good, but I will not always know my range. Should I just pick an arbitrarily high range then refine my results? • Can I redistribute Phing with non-free software?

  I am having trouble understanding the terms of the LGPL in light of a program that is not written in C or C++. They speak of libraries being linked and 'derivitive' works. If I were to package a php program and sell it, but within the program the deployment mechanism used the phing package (full up with the entire contents as is and un modified) - would I be violating the terms of the LGPL? For example, If this was a C program that was compiled by linking the phing 'library' then the answer would be easier, it is a derivitive work and therefore unless released under the GPL will not be considered free and also a violation. But this situation is different. I am not linking and not producing a derivitive, i am simply using phing as a deployment tool to move files around and set up the enviornment. Can someone shed some light? Thank you!

  When I register my .NET Assembly with regasm.exe the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{111E32AD-4BF8-495F-AB4D-6C61BD463EA4}\InprocServer32 is set to "mscoree.dll". However, I am trying to mimic an existing COM-Server that was written in C. When registering this old COM-server the InprocServer32 is set to the full path to this component. Unfortunately the existing system (a plugin host that I can not change) reads and use this value - an is confused by the "mscoree.dll" value. My solution might be to patch this registry entry manually - but I would like to understand why regasm writes "mscoree.dll" into InprocServer32 .

• retreving long text (CLOB) using CFQuery

  I am using CFQuery to retrieve the CLOB field from Oracle DB. If the CLOB filed contains the Data less than ~ 8000, then I can see retrieved the value ( the o/p), however If the value in CLOB field size is more than 8000 chars, then its not retrieving the value. in <cfdump> i can see the query retrieved as 'empty String' though the value exists in Oracle DB. I am using the Oracle Driver in CFadim console enabled 'Enable long text retrieval (CLOB).' and 'Enable binary large object retrieval (BLOB). ' set 'Long Text Buffer (chr)' and 'Blob Buffer(bytes) ' values to 6400000 any suggestions to retrieve the full text?

• PHP Curl's Proxy feature causes no information to be returned

  I'm working on a PHP script right now which sends requests to our school's servers to get real-time information about class sizes for different courses. The script runs perfectly fine when I don't use a proxy, returning a string full of course numbers and available seats. However, I want to make this a service for the students, and I'm afraid that if I make too many requests my ip will get blocked. So I'm attempting to do this through a proxy, with no success. As soon as I add the CURLOPT_HTTPPROXYTUNNEL and CURLOPT_PROXY fields to my requests nothing gets returned. I'm not even sure how to troubleshoot it at this point since I'm not getting an error message of any kind. Does anyone know what's going on or how to at least troubleshoot it?

• How to disable scrolling the document body?

  I have a HTML which has lot of content and a vertical scrollbar appears as soon as the HTML is loaded. Now from this HTML a full screen IFRAME is loaded. The problem is when the IFRAME is loaded, the parent scrollbar still persists, I want to disable the scrollbar when the Iframe is loaded. I tried: document.body.scroll = "no", it did not work with FF and chrome. document.style.overflow = "hidden"; after this I was still able to scroll, and the whole iframe would scroll up revealing the parent HTML. My requirement is, when the IFRAME is loaded, we should never be able to scroll the entire IFRAME if the parent HTML has a scrollbar. Any ideas?

  How can I create View on Linked Server db. For Example I have a linked server [0.0.0.0] on [1.1.1.1]. Both db servers are SQL Sserver 2005. I want to create View on [1.1.1.1] using table on linked server. EDIT: On creating using full name, [0.0.0.0].db.dbo.table, I am getting this error. SQL Execution Error. Executed SQL statement: SELECT * FROM 0.0.0.0.db.dbo.table (YOu can see brackets are not there.) Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider Error Message: Incorrect syntax near '0.0'. --- part of IP address. I am just creating this in ManagementStudio, not using it because it is not created yet. I Have changed IP. In image you can see there are not brackets around IP but I given it and on error these brackets are removed. Thanks.

  According to the Processing Reference, stroke(gray, alpha) allows to set the color and opacity of the stroke. With the default color mode, an alpha value of 255 denotes full opacity, while a value of 0 should correspond to complete transparency. While this works with the (default) JAVA2D renderer, I can't seem to paint fully transparent points in P2D mode.
