• Thin and Bundler on Windows Rails

  Trying to get Thin working with Bundle on Windows, I know, major PITA but anyways, I'm new to Thin and Bundle gem, I'm on Ruby 1.8.6 and Rails 2.3.5 and trying to get someone else's app running on my laptop, the app uses Thin and Bundle gem to install gems required. I noticed that bundle created a .bundle folder under My Documents folder and put all the gems there for the app. When I tried "thin run", it reported 'thin' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I check the environment path and it doesn't point to the .bundle folder at all and I found there is a thin.bat in C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\.bundle\ruby\1.8\bin When I tried "C:\Documents and Settings\Bob.bundle\ruby\1.8\bin\thin" start, it gave me another error c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems.rb:777:in `report_activate_error': Could not find RubyGem thin (>= 0) (Gem::LoadError) from c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems.rb:211:in `activate' from c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems.rb:1056:in `gem' from C:/Documents and Settings/Bob/.bundle/ruby/1.8/bin/thin:18 I get the same error if I added "C:\Documents and Settings\Bob.bundle \ruby\1.8\bin" to the env path. Anyone know I can get this working?

• System 67 error scheduled task to transfer files

  Running directly on command line the batch script works. The network name cannot be found. Any ideas? Google is turning up nothing useful, just keep finding results relating to DNS etc, but using IP address here.

• WPF multitrigger referencing 2 other controls

  I have two CheckBoxes and a TextBox. I want to TextBox to have IsEnabled=False if both CheckBoxes have IsChecked=False. Can I do this with a MultiTrigger? I keep getting errors trying to use the Source property. I have it working with MultiDataTriggers as you can see below. But have two questions. 1) Is this my only choice? I'm not really sure where Triggers can be applied, most samples do it within Style or DataTemplates, but defining it within a Style is messing up my default look and feel for the TextBox.

• Macbook Pro keyboard with BootCamp - missing the Home/End/PageUp/PageDown keys

  Last year I converted from Windows to a MacBook Pro and went through the process of learning the ways of the Mac keyboard. In particular, I learned that Ctrl-left and Ctrl-right were the Mac way of doing Home and End. I'm now doing a project on Windows 7 on Bootcamp, and finding that I'm missing the Windows Home and End keys in a completely different way -- they don't exist, but the Mac combos don't work either. Any suggestions for getting this functionality somehow? Code editing is a real drag without these keys.

• IMAP can't access virtual account sharing name with local user account

  I am setting up a postfix/dovecot mail server with virtual accounts, per the Chris Haas tutorial. I'm finding that virtual users who also have local user accounts on the mail server cannot access their email remotely via IMAP. They're told they cannot login. (I'm using Thunderbird for that). These same users can login when emulating IMAP locally via telnet. Virtual users without local accounts have no trouble with IMAP access from remote clients. These local user accounts have vestiges of prior efforts in their home directories: mbox files, Mail and mail directories. I've looked at the logs for clues to where the remote login process is failing (dovecot authentication failure? confusion over where emails are stored?) but found nothing helpful. I haven't found much in the dovecot or postfix documentation that describes the IMAP login process and expectations in enough detail to help me diagnose this. So: how do I go about identifying the problem and researching a solution?

• Regex to extract portions of file name

  I have text files formatted as such: R156484COMP_004A7001_20100104_065119.txt I need to consistently extract the R****COMP, the 004A7001 number, 20100104 (date), and don't care about the 065119 number. the problem is that not ALL of the files being parsed have the exact naming convention. some may be like this: R168166CRIT_156B2075_SU2_20091223_123456.txt or R285476COMP_SU1_125A6025_20100407_123456.txt So how could I use regex instead of split to ensure I am always getting that serial (ex. 004A7001), the date (ex. 20100104), and the R****COMP (or CRIT)??? • Loading data from a dictionary of dictionaries into an array in Objective C for an iphone app

  I have a UINavigationController consisting of a tableview I want to load some data into. I have a dictionary plist containing Dictionaries for each Train Line which in turn have dictionaries for each station with the relevant information along with one string lineName. I need to collect the station Names keys and add them to an array to populate my table (This is working). The line names are stored as a string in my lines dictionary with the key being "lineName" Root->| | |->TrainLine1(Dictionary)->| | |-> lineName (String) | |-> Station1 (Dictionary) | |-> Station2 (Dictionary) | | |->TrainLine2(Dictionary)->| | |-> lineName (String) | |-> Station1 (Dictionary) | |-> Station2 (Dictionary) Am I going about this the wrong way?   I am try to set the caret/cursor position to the end of the string value in my WPF textbox when I open my window for the first time. I use the FocusManager to set the focus on my textbox when my window opens. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?   Hello I was hoping some one could help me my drive has 92gbs used space, 95gbs free out of 220 partition 33gbs in the air i cant find, already did cleanup, emptied recycle bin, history and temp files also and I believe sin Ive seen before its possibly space my brother used with a program he uses to hide (possibly encrypted) files dont know the name just seen him do it on usb and pc dont appear visible or hidden and result is what you read above is there any way of finding them to delete them hence my brother is nowhere to b found or could it be something else??? already tried freecommander also.

• Activate a python virtual environment using activate_this.py in a fabfile on Windows

  I have a Fabric task that needs to access the settings of my Django project. On Windows, I'm unable to install Fabric into the project's virtualenv (issues with Paramiko + pycrypto deps). However, I am able to install Fabric in my system-wide site-packages, no problem. I have installed Django into the project's virtualenv and I am able to use all the " python manage.py" commands easily when I activate the virtualenv with the "VIRTUALENV\Scripts\activate.bat" script. I have a fabric tasks file (fabfile.py) in my project that provides tasks for setup, test, deploy, etc. Some of the tasks in my fabfile need to access the settings of my django project through "from django.conf import settings". Since the only usable Fabric install I have is in my system-wide site-packages, I need to activate the virtualenv within my fabfile so django becomes available. To do this, I use the "activate_this" module of the project's virtualenv in order to have access to the project settings and such. Using "print sys.path" before and after I execute activate_this.py, I can tell the python path changes to point to the virtualenv for the project. However, I still cannot import django.conf.settings. I have been able to successfully do this on *nix (Ubuntu and CentOS) and in Cygwin. Do you use this setup/workflow on Windows? If so Can you help me figure out why this wont work on Windows or provide any tips and tricks to get around this issue? Thanks and Cheers.   WebStorm/PhpStorm: How do I choose a specific font from a font family? (for the editor). Specifically, I have downloaded the Source Code Pro font. It comes with these typefaces: Extra Light, Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold. Now, I want to choose Extra Light/Light. But, when trying to select a font, Webstorm only shows me one font for the entire family. How do I make it use a specific one? If it makes a difference, I am currently using Mac OS X Mountain Lion (but I'd be interested in finding the answer to this for Windows as well)

• Locking issues with replacing files on a website

  I want to replace existing files on an IIS website with updated versions. Say these files are large pdf documents, which can be accessed via hyperlinks. The site is up 24x7, so I'm concerned about locking issues when a file is being updated at exactly the same time that someone is trying to read the file. The files are updated using C# code run on the server. I can think of two options for opening the file for writing. Option 1) Open the file for writing, using FileShare.Read : using (FileStream stream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Read)) While this file is open, and a user requests the same file for reading in a web browser via a hyperlink, the document opens up as a blank page. Option 2) Open the file for writing using FileShare.None : using (FileStream stream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None)) While this file is open, and a user requests the same file for reading in a web browser via a hyperlink, the browser shows an error. In IE 8, you get HTTP 500, "The website cannot display the page", and in Firefox 3.5, you get : "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." The browser behaviour kind of makes sense, and seem reasonable. I guess its highly unlikely that a user will attempt to read a file at exactly the same time you are updating it. It would be nice if somehow, the file update was atomic, like updating a database with SQL wrapped around a transaction. I'm wondering if you guys worry about this sort of thing, and prefer either of the above options, or even have other options of your own for updating files.

The first ViewController is opened with the app and displays fine.   I recently bought a TV-IP312W wireless IP camera. I've completed the basic setup on the camera itself, and confirmed I can stream video using the utility CamViewer. Now I'm trying to access the camera from ZoneMinder, so I can setup monitors and alerts. However, I'm finding the documentation a bit laking. Following the tutorial and a forum post, I've install ZoneMinder, and can access the web interface, but I'm getting stuck at the "Check that your Camera Works!" section. I can add a monitor, but after I add the configuration: Source Type: FFMPEG Source Path: http://192.168.1.105/cgi/mjpg/mjpeg.cgi?.mjpeg all I get is a broken image. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi, I'm trying to show a different image when the button is disabled. Should be easy with triggers, right?! For some reason, I have not been able to get the images to switch. I've tried setting triggers on both the image and button. What is wrong with what I have below? How can I change the image source when the button is enabled/disabled? • Is there a quick way to remove browser decorations

  I'm finding that more and more applications use browsers as their user interface and I am caught in a dilemma. When browsing I want a browser window to have browser buttons, navigation icons, etc. When I'm using the browser for an application like twitter or yammer then I don't need those and having them just reduces the application area. I would rather save the vertical space and have a very sparse undecorated window. The problem is it does not seem easy to do this. My initial thought was to just install two different browsers. For example use Firefox with all the toolbars and then set IE to show no toolbars. I think this is ok but I would like a cleaner solution. Maybe a plugin in Firefox that turns everything off easily or something.

• Why does my DataTemplate break the WPF designer?

  Why does the DataTemplate line break the WPF designer in Visual Studio 2008? The program compiles and runs properly. The DataTemplate is applied as it should. • Visual Studio 2005 Open Project Dialog Slow as Molasses

  Hi, Whenever I try to open a project in Visual Studio 2005 (Windows XP), my open project dialog become slow as molasses - navigating down one level of folders typically takes almost 60 seconds. Finding the project and opening it can take up 4-5 minutes, which is just ridiculous. I've checked the open project dialogs of other programs - only VS2005 is acting this way. What could be causing this problem and how do I go about solving it (apart from reinstalling VS2005 / windows) (Edit: Even VS2008 on the same machine does not have this problem. I don't know what's wrong.) Thanks!

• Text Editor that hilights all instances of selection for Mac

  On Windows, I use Notepad++ which has the great feature of when I select a word, all instances of that word are also highlighted in the same document. I have found it very helpful for finding patterns in giant log files. I am wondering if there is a similar feature in a text editor on the Mac. I have looked into the documentation for TextWrangler and TextMate to no avail. Hopefully there is a way to do this so I can be more productive when working on a Mac. -- Note: in Notepad++ you do not have to do a keyboard shortcut to make this work... you just select some text and it does the highlighting for you automatically.

• Security and Windows Login

  I'm not entirely sure this is the right place for the is question but I cannot think of another so here goes. In order to login to the windows machines at my office one must press the almighty CTRL-ALT-DELETE command combo first. I, finding this very frustrating, decided to look into why and found claims from both my sys and Microsoft stating that it's a security feature and that "Because only windows could read the CTRL-ALT-DELETE it helped to ensure that an automated program cannot log in. Now I'm not a master of the windows operating system ( as I generally use *nix ) but I cannot believe that "Only windows can send that signal" bull. It just doesn't sit right. Is there a good reason for the CTRL-ALT-DELETE to login thing? is it something I'm missing? or is it another example of antiquated legacy security measures?
