• iPhone locationManager:didFailWithError problem when GPS disabled

  So, I've followed other related threads, but for some reason I'm still having this error and I'm about ready to tear my hair out. I have implemented locationManager:didFailWithError to check and see if a user selects 'Don't Allow' to use the current location. -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"IN ERROR"); if ([error code] == kCLErrorDenied){ [manager stopUpdatingLocation]; } } However, the following error always appears when the user selects 'Don't Allow'...it's strange, especially the order that the text 'IN ERROR' appears. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be happening? Both projects reference a database project which opens a connection to an MS-Access 2007 database file and have references to System.Data.OleDb. • UIBarButtonItem with custom image and no border

  Hello, I want to create a UIBarButtonItem with a custom image, but I don't want the border that iPhone adds, as my Image has a special border. It's the same as the back button but a forward button. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion.   I have three machines. one installed VS2008 another two installed SDK6 and Framework3.5 (one of these two is a build machine). When I use MSBuild to build our application, all of them get this warning: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets : warning MSB3245: Could not resolve this reference. • UIButton in UITableViewCell events not working

  I see this problem all over the net, and none of the solutions listed work for me! I have added UIButton to a UITableViewCell in IB. I have assigned a custom UITableViewCell class to the UITableViewCell. My custom UITableViewCell class has an IBAction that im connecting to the Touch Up Inside event (I have tried other events they all don't work) but the IBAction function is never called! There is nothing else in the UITableViewCell, I have added the UIButton directly into the Content View. And everything has user interaction enabled! It is as simple as that I have nothing complex going on! What is is about a UITableViewCell that stops buttons working?   I am a bit perplexed on how to catch a specific error type of Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException, I'll explain why, and I've included a code sample below for you guys to see. As you know there are 2 ways to interact with MOSS. The object model (only runs on MOSS Server) Web Services (can be run on a remote machine querying the MOSS server) So as per code sample I'm using web services to query MOSS, because of this I don't have sharepoint installed on the remote server running these web services and without MOSS installed its impossible to reference the SharePoint DLL to get the specific error type : Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException. If I can't reference the DLL then how the heck am I supposed to catch this specific error type?   Has anybody had any recent success with accessing the Crowd SOAP API via the Suds Python library? I've found a few people successfully doing it in the past but Atlassian seems to have changed their WSDL since then to make the existing advice not entirely helpful.   I need to display a pop with a UISwitch and a Done button when user taps on a button and save the state of the switch when the done button in the pop up is tapped. But the switch appears at the very top on the same line with the Action Sheet title and then below that is the Done button. Please someone help me how to position the switch below the Title and increase the Action Sheet size so it looks neat. I need this asap. Thanks.

There is a UIBarButtonItem on the toolbar. The idea here is that double-tapping anywhere toggles the appearance of the toolbar. All other gestures must occur on the EAGLView. My problem is that taps directly on the UIBarButtonItem show touch.view to be the UIView subclass UIToolbarTextButton which is undocumented and can't be introspected. Huh? • UIWebView not loading URL when URL is passed from UITableView

  Hey Everyone, So i'm building a webView into my application to show the contents of a URL that I am passing from a selection in a UITableView. I know the UIWebView is loading content properly because if you hard code say http://www.google.ca into the NSURL then it loads fine, however when I'm passing the URL that I parsed from an RSS feed back from the UITableView it won't load the URL properly. Something like: XmlNode locationNode = personNode.SelectSingleNode("//location[name = {reference to personNode}/name]"); Since I am selecting based on the personNode it would be handy if I could reference it in the select. Is this possible?.. is the connection there? Sure I could put in a few extra lines of code and put the name into a variable and use this in the XPath string but that is not what I am asking.

• Pop-up modal with UITableView on iPhone

  I need to pop up a quick dialog for the user to select one option in a UITableView from a list of roughly 2-5 items. Dialog will be modal and only take up about 1/2 of screen. I go back and forth between how to handle this. Should I subclass UIView and make it a UITableViewDelegate & DataSource? I'd also prefer to lay out this view in IB. So to display I'd do something like this from my view controller (assume I have a property in my view controller for DialogView *myDialog;) NSArray* nibViews = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"DialogView" owner:myDialog options:nil]; myDialog = [nibViews objectAtIndex:0]; [self.view addSubview:myDialog]; problem is i'm trying to pass owner:myDialog which is nil as it hasn't been instantiated...i could pass owner:self but that would make my view controller the File's Owner and that's not how that dialog view is wired in IB. So that leads me to think this dialog wants to be another full blown UIViewController... But, from all I've read you should only have ONE UIViewController per screen so this confuses me because I could benefit from viewDidLoad, etc. that come along with view controllers... Can someone please straighten this out for me?

  I have been simply trying to get deviceToken from my iPhone application using Apple Push Notification Service. I don't have any implementation on server side for the time being. • IKImageView resize is blocky

  I am putting an image into an IKImageView, and immediately sizing it to fit. Whenever I do this, the image originally appears at 1-1 size (huge) and then resizes down, which would be fine if the animation was smooth. However, the animation looks ... fluttery? There are big blocks, like 2 inches square, of the image that appear and shrink independently of each other. The effect is a little annoying, and almost to the level where it might give an epileptic a seizure... (I'm exaggerating a little). Is this a bug in IKImageView? Is it a bug in the animation? Will it go away if I turn off the animation (How do I do that? setAnimates: NO doesn't seem to do anything, nor does overloading animates to return NO in my subclass... EDIT: addedcode: NSImage* image = [doc currentImage]; [imageView setImage: image]; [imageView zoomImageToFit: self]; This is in the app controller, so self is the application (or plugin, depending on which version I'm looking at)

  I am new to mocking and dependency injection and need some guidance. My application is using a typical N-Tier architecture where the BLL references the DAL, and the UI references the BLL but not the DAL. Pretty straight forward. Lets say, for example, I have the following classes: class MyDataAccess : IMyDataAccess {} class MyBusinessLogic {} Each exists in a separate assembly. I want to mock MyDataAccess in the tests for MyBusinessLogic. So I added a constructor to the MyBusinessLogic class to take an IMyDataAccess parameter for the dependency injection. But now when I try to create an instance of MyBusinessLogic on the UI layer it requires a reference to the DAL. I thought I could define a default constructor on MyBusinessLogic to set a default IMyDataAccess implementation, but not only does this seem like a codesmell it didn't actually solve the problem. I'd still have a public constructor with IMyDataAccess in the signature. So the UI layer still requires a reference to the DAL in order to compile. One possible solution I am toying with is to create an internal constructor for MyBusinessLogic with the IMyDataAccess parameter. Then I can use an Accessor from the test project to call the constructor. But there's still that smell. What is the common solution here. I must just be doing something wrong. How could I improve the architecture?

• Show Add button after Edit button is clicked?

  I have a view with navigation bar control on the top. The view is in the second level with a "back" button is displayed on the left by default. In my view class, I added a default navigation edit button on the right: self.navigationbarItem.rightButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; with this line of code, an edit button is on the right side, and when it is clicked, the view (table view) becomes editable with delete mark on the left for each row. After that, the edit button's caption becomes "done". All those are done by the default edit button built in the navigation control, I think. I would like to add an add button the left, or replace "back" button when edit is clicked. I guess I have to implement some kind of delegate in my view class. This would provide a place to plug in my code to add the add button on the left when edit button is clicked, and to restore "back" button back when the done button is clicked. If so, what's the delegate? Or is there any other way to achieve it?

• How can I create a custom UIToolbar like component in a UITableViewController?

  I have a UITableViewController. I want a "toolbar-ish" component at the bottom. I started by using a background image and a button. In interface builder, I added them to the bottom of the iPhone screen. The problem I ran into was that the background image and button scrolled with the table. I obviously need this fixed at the bottom. Not finding too much direction online, I decided to customize a UIToolbar to look how I want since the position is fixed by default. In my initWithNibName for my UITableViewController, I have: UIImage *shuffleButtonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"shuffle_button.png"]; NSArray* toolbarItems = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:shuffleButtonImage style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(push:)], nil]; [toolbarItems makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(release)]; self.toolbarItems = toolbarItems; The problem I am running into now is that the "shuffleButtonImage" is not showing up properly. The shape of the button shows up fine but it is colored white and therefore does not look like the image. Does anyone know why a "white image" would be showing instead of the actual image? Also does it sound like a good idea to customize a UIToolbar or is there a simple way to ensure a fixed position "toolbar-ish" component. To reiterate - my "toolbar-ish" component only needs to be one button at the button of my UITableView. The single button has a gradient color background that I create with an image.

  If i want to show userLocation on the map, and at the same time record the user's location, is it a good idea to add an observer to userLocation.location and record the locations, OR should i still use CLLocationManager for recording user location and use mapView.showUserLocation to show the user's current location (blue indicator)? I want to show the default blue indicator supported by the MapKit API. • Visual Studio 2010 Can no longer build .NET v3.5

  I have a 2010 project that is targeting .NET v3.5. Inexplicably I can no longer build v3.5 projects. The project doesn't have ANY references added. It won't even let me add a reference to System.Core as it is added by the 'build system'. warning CS1685: The predefined type 'System.Func' is defined in multiple assemblies in the global alias; using definition from 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' IFilter.cs(82,49): error CS0433: The type 'System.Func' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5\System.Core.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' Looks like something is grabbing onto 4.0 but I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Any one else run into this? Coworker had this same issue. It took a reinstall of Windows to correct the problem I've opened a bug on this one: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/558245/warning-cs1685-when-compiling-a-v3-5-net-application-in-visual-studio-2010 If the compiler is set to verbose I see this: FrameworkPathOverride = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 which is defined as: Specifies the location of mscorlib.dll and microsoft.visualbasic.dll. This parameter is equivalent to the /sdkpath switch of the vbc.exe compiler. Some other interesting tidbits: I've created a new project all together and cannot build v3.5 at all. I can build 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 Client Profile, 4.0 and 4.0 Client Profile with no problem. VB.NET can build v3.5 but C# cannot. I've tried a reinstall of .NET 3.5, 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 with no success. Visual Studio debug logs shown nothing interesting and Safe Mode does not work. Trying to avoid a Windows reinstall...
