  • How to listen to keyboard events in GWT table?

    In my GWT program I have a table that has a selected row. I'd like to move the row selection with the up- and down-keys on the keyboard. So I have to catch the key events somehow. The GWT docs handle key events in input fields only. But I don't have an input field! Is this possible at all? Maybe it is a DOM/Javascript restriction that GWT cannot work around...

I am new to delegates and events and I am asking you what events I should create (like maybe AssignmentCreating, AssignmentCreated) and what kind of delegate to use (like maybe a custom delegate or just an EventHandler)?

  • Headless build of eclipse features - PDE Tools or Buckminster?

    I am trying to set up a headless build for a big eclipse feature, containing other features and plugins. As some needed plugins are generated using GMF and EMF, the build workflow must be something like this: SVN Check-out Invoke Generation Run Tests Build all Publish update-site Over the last couple of weeks, i played around with PDE Headless Build and Buckminster. Anyhow i still got problems with both and can't decide on which i should spent my effort. So what would you prefer? What experience you made? Anybody out there who needed to set up a similiar workflow before? Thank you for all answers :)

  • How do I reference SSIS on a build machine without installing SQL Server 2008 Client Tools?

    I need to build SSIS packages on a build machine, and do not want the overhead of installing SQL Server Management Studio on this machine. A SQL Server 2008 SDK would be ideal, but I could not find where to download it. The dlls I require are (for example): Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap I could attempt to copy them to the build machine individually, but I would rather just use an SDK if possible. Where can I get the SDK, or alternatively, what suggestions are there?

  • Bubbling up events . .

    I have multiple layers in an application and i find myself having to bubble up events to the GUI layer for doing status bar changes, etc . . I find myself having to write repeated coded where each layer simply subscribes to events from the lower layer and then in the call back simply raise an event up the chain. Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

I dont want to build the complete solution instead sometimes we need to build some of the projects. I am a total newbie in Team Build. Please help how i can use the <SolutionToBuild Include="$(BuildProjectFolderPath)/../../Development/Main/Build-Development.sln"> <Targets></Targets> <Properties></Properties> </SolutionToBuild> to select only some of the projects from the solution. Kindly give a detailed answer for me as i am absolutely clueless about it. Thanks

  • Surface Review from Canadian Guy Who Didn&rsquo;t Go To Build

    I didn’t go to Build last week, opted to stay home and go trick-or-treating with my daughters instead. I had many friends that did go however, and I was able to catch up with James Chambers last night to hear about the conference and play with his Surface RT and Nokia 920 WP8 devices. I’ve been using Windows 8 for a while now, so I’m not going to comment on OS features – lots of posts out there on that already. Let me instead comment on the hardware itself. Size and Weight The size of the tablet was awesome. The Windows 8 tablet I’m using to reference this against is the one from Build 2011 (Samsung model) we received as well as my iPad. The Surface RT was taller and slightly heavier than the iPad, but smaller and lighter than the Samsung Win 8 tablet. I still don’t prefer the default wide-screen format, but the Surface RT is much more usable even when holding it by the long edge than the Samsung. Build Quality No issues with the build quality, it seemed very solid. But…y’know, people have been going on about how the Surface RT materials are so much better than the plastic feeling models Samsung and others put out. I didn’t really notice *that* much difference in that regard with the Surface RT. Interesting feature I didn’t expect – the Windows button on the device is touch-sensitive, not a mechanical one. I didn’t try video or anything, so I can’t comment on the media experience. The kickstand is a great feature, and the way the Surface RT connects to the combo case/keyboard touchcover is very slick while being incredibly simple. What About That Touch Cover Keyboard? So first, kudos to Microsoft on the touch cover! This thing was insanely responsive (including the trackpad) and really delivered on the thinness I was expecting. With that said, and remember this is with very limited use, I would probably go with the Type Cover instead of the Touch Cover. The difference is buttons. The Touch Cover doesn’t actually have “buttons” on the keyboard – hence why its a “touch” cover. You tap on a key to type it. James tells me after a while you get used to it and you can type very fast. For me, I just prefer the tactile feeling of a button being pressed/depressed. But still – typing on the touch case worked very well. Would I Buy One? So after playing with it, did I cry out in envy and rage that I wasn’t able to get one of these machines? Did I curse my decision to collect Halloween candy with my kids instead of being at Build getting hardware? Well – no. Even with the keyboard, the Surface RT is not a business laptop replacement device. While Office does come included, you can’t install any other applications outside of Windows Store Apps. This might be limiting depending on what other applications you need to have available on your computer. Surface RT is a great personal computing device, as long as you’re not already invested in a competing ecosystem. I’ve heard people make statements that they’re going to replace all the iPads in their homes with Surface tablets. In my home, that’s not feasible – my wife and daughters have amassed quite a collection of games via iTunes. We also buy all our music via iTunes as well, so even with the XBox streaming music service now available we’re still tied quite tightly to iTunes. So who is the Surface RT for? In my mind, if you’re looking for a solid, compact device that provides basic business functionality (read: email) or if you have someone that needs a very simple to use computer for email, web browsing, etc., then Surface RT is a great option. For me, I’m waiting on the Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro and am curious to see what changes the Surface Pro will come with.

  • UK SQL Server User Group Events (June)

  • VMware Player 4.04 on Ubuntu 12.04 will not compile

    I installed VMware-Player-4.0.4-744019.i386.bundle onto Ubuntu 11.10. This worked fine. I then upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 The upgrade appeared to be successful.   • Triggering custom events in AJAX callbacks

    I'm pretty new to JavaScript, but one of the things that's been frustrating is that our AJAX callbacks have been getting packed with different functionality, making it difficult to keep everything separated and organized. I'm really new to programming, I have a feeling learning MVC a bit more would help me, but for now using custom events seems like it could help me keep my code a lot cleaner and prevent some problems. Here's what I'm talking about: function myAjaxFunction(){ $.post('ajax/test.html', function(data) { $(document).trigger('testDataLoaded',data); }); } function myOtherFunctionThatsDependentUponAjax(){ $(document).one('testDataLoaded', function(data){ alert (data); } } I also don't know if it's ok that I'm triggering document or not... Are there any patterns that look like this that I can read more about? What are the potential problems with this?

  • UK SQL Server User Group Events (June)

    I’ve been trying to use RML to process some files and couldn’t figure out why the numbers where all so much smaller than they should be. I then found a line in the RML output “Found [TRACE_STOP] event indicating the end of the trace files” This causes RML to stop processing further data, oh. In my case I had stopped the trace to add some error events because the client was experiencing errors. How do I get RML to process all the other data I wondered.   • Structure gameobjects and call events

    I'm working on a 2D tile based game in which the player interacts with other game objects (chests, AI, Doors, Houses etc...). The entire map will be stored in a file which I can read. When loading the tilemap, it will find any tile with the ID that represents a gameobject and store it in a hashmap (right data structure I think?). private static HashMap<Integer, Class<GameObject>> gameObjects = new HashMap<Integer, Class<GameObject>>(); How exactly would I go about calling, and checking for events? I figure that I would just call the update, render and input methods of each gameobject using the hashmap. Should I got towards a Minecraft/Bukkit approach (sorry only example I can think of), where the user registers an event, and it gets called whenever that event happens, and where should I go as in resources to learn about that type of programming, (Java, LWJGL). Or should I just loop through the entire hashmap looking for an event that fits? Thanks waco

    How do you bridge the gap between the library's low-level event system and your engine's high-level event system? (I'm not necessarily talking about key events, but also about quit events.) At the top level of my event system, I send out KeyPressedEvents, KeyRelesedEvents and others of this kind. These high-level events only contain the abstract values of the keys (they don't say that Space way pressed, but that the JumpKey was pressed, for example). Whose responsibility should it be to map the "JumpKey" to an actual key on the keyboard?

A quick summary of the three events, and the flights it took to get me to each: SQL Saturday #105 - Dublin, Ireland Flights on March 21st: Providence -> Philadelphia (236 miles) Philadelphia -> Dublin (3,260 miles) Time zone change: +4 when we got there, plus Daylight Saving Time kicked in, so +5 after the event.     I have read the Google page event documentation, but I am not sure I understand it correctly. I am new to Google analytics, and I have two questions: Once I have google analytics enabled for my site (i.e. I have inserted the tracking code in my pages etc), do I need to set anything else up (at the Google end - i.e. in my Google analytics account) It is not clear to me how the event data particularly, relating to how the data can be aggregated and analyzed. For instance, if I want to track an event under category category for click action action, I will use the following code snippet: <a href="some-uri.htm" onclick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'category', 'action', 'label']);">Do Something</a> For the sake of simplicity, lets say I am interested in monitoring click events in my header and footer, and I want to find which pages the header and or footer is clicked most often. How would I set things up so that I can analyze the header/footer clicks aggregated at the page level?
