  I have a D-LINK DIR-655 and i wish to do the following: My PC is connected to the internet via eth0 (Wired) and it has a wireless card. I wish to connect to the DIR-655 Router and share my connection via the router but wirelessly. I do not want to connect via a cabled wired to the router. I want to connect to the router via wifi. After that i want to make the Router share the wireless connection am giving it to other PCs wirelessly. So the sharing and connecting in all PCs will be done via WiFi.

• Exchange 2010 Room Mailbox Calendar Permissions

  Exchange 2010 sp2 Outlook 2007/2010 Server 2008 I have managed to set up several room mailboxes in exchange, people are able to book the rooms and they get a response from the exchange server. this is brilliant. however users are unable to view the calendar of the room mailbox to see what times are available, in a ideal world I would like users to only see if the room is free or not. I dont want users to see the details of the meeting (title, description etc) I have been trying to do this using the following command Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity meetingroom -User "Usergroup" -AccessRights AvailabilityOnly -DomainController AD-Server This throws the following error Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.   Can my laptop with a 3G connection share its Internet via a Wifi router (Dlink DIR-615)? I turned Internet Connection Sharing on and Windows assigned 192.168.137.1 to my laptop's LAN adapter. Do I connect my laptop to the WAN port or to the LAN port of the router? What should I set as my router's IP address? Do I turn DHCP on my router on? Do I assign 192.168.137.x as static addresses on the other computers? If not, what? Is there anything else I need to set on my router? Thank you!

• Vacation scheduler/viewer

  I'm looking for a solution that allows multiple persons to put plan and notify their vacation by putting it in their electronic calendar and invite a dedicated "robot" email. On the other side I should be able to get a quick overview of the vacation for each person and do a print out that allows me to put it on a board. Example: John puts his winter vacation for week 7 into his calendar and invite [email protected]. Ben does the same thing for week 4 and 5 and invites [email protected]. Dilbert host the [email protected] and prints out and overview for the next 3 months. Each person's vacation is either stated by name or/and color on the print out. I would like to do the thing with standard business software like Outlook 2010 without installing too many softwares. But at the same time it should be easy and quick to make the print outs without too much fiddling Am I dreaming ?

• Windows Server vs Sharing

  Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I have a friend that owns a small business running 3 local machines, that are connected to the internet, and a server that each local machine connects to. He has recently bought a newer server, and by server I mean a Windows Vista box. He wants to use this purely to store data that the 3 local machines can access, kind of like a glorified external hard drive. Im suggesting to fore-go the server option and simply setup sharing on the 'server' box. Interested in hearing any suggestions as to whether the server idea is preferable?

• Restore SBS 2003 CompanyWeb calendar from flat files?

  Ok so I have a job of recovering a calendar that was used for an event schedule. The situation is that there was never a backup done except for using Carbonite on the C drive. I have re-installed the server with the same server name and domain. I tried stopping the mssqlsharepoint service and over-righting the two DB files (STS_1.mdf and STS_1_log.LDF) and each one individually each time stopping and restarting the service. Now I knew before I started that this had a slim chance of working but I had to try because everything else i could find involved backing up before restoring and this just wasn't done. Please someone help it is driving me mad I tell you MADDDDDD. ps i am not the genius that set this up just the fool tasked to clean up the mess. :-)

  my goal is to set up a VPN on a Windows machine that contains my iTunes library then connect to that VPN with my iPhone and be able to utilize Home Sharing remotely. I have read that this can easily be set up if the iTunes library is on a Mac (Network Beacon and YazSoft ShareTool are two products I quickly found). I can't find anyone who has had success on a Windows machine, though. In my thinking, there are two options (aside from buying a Mac): 1.) Existing utility that takes care of this for me (like the Mac-only options listed above) and is compatible with iPhone (Hamachi is NOT compatible with iPhone VPN) 2.) Manually configure a VPN to allow Bonjour multicast (can't find any information on this) FYI my router is a Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato 1.28

• Outlook keeps dropping 'Other Calendars'

  We run Exchnage 2010 with Outlook 2007, and we have public calendars that users are able to 'Add to favorites...' - these are then shown under 'Other Calendars' when a user clicks their 'Calendar' tab. The issue we are having is that these calendars drop off every now and again. Looking under 'Public Folders - Favorites', I can see that the calendars are there, but Outlook doesn't seem to know that they are calendars any more. Simply clicking on one of them to open it changes the icon to that of a 'Folder containing calendar items' for each of the favorite items, and closing and reopening Outlook gets them back under 'Other Calendars' My question is this - how can I make Outlook stop forgetting that these public folders are calendars? Thanks.

• Sharing git repo without SSH

I'm trying to set-up a private git repo for code sharing, but found out that most of the implementations out there require use of SSH public keys, for example: http://www.jedi.be/blog/2009/05/06/8-ways-to-share-your-git-repository/ The only approach looking reasonable is the git-daemon, but it does not contain any authentication, and while it might be a good option for LAN, it is no go for remote working. Coming from SVN daemon, where all the access was conveniently controlled via single file, the SSH keys scheme quite a hurdle for me. Is there any way to securely share multiple Git repositories, without using SSH authentication? Thanks in advance!

• Synckolab will not start automatically

  We have a Kolab server for e-mail, calendar and contacts with Thunderbird for a client. The add-ons are Lightning and Synckolab. The workstations are Kubuntu, most 10.04, some 11.10. It basically works but for one nagging problem: the automatic sync (that is, the settings that starts Synckolab upon start of Thunderbird and every x minutes as per setting) does not fire. We went through the whole routine: setting it, setting it to zero and back to any number of minutes, stopping/starting Thunderbird or the entire computer to make sure it sees and sets it. In the configuration console is reflects the changes. But still it will not automatically fire Synckolab. Manual syncs work without any problem (none that we've seen - it reflects all the added, changed etc calendar events). In short: Synckolab does not fire automatically with any setting who have thought of.

• Windows Server 2003 stops sharing a folder when the server reboots [closed]

  I have a file server that will stop sharing a particular folder once the server is rebooted. This problem happened after the server went through a p2v migration. There are no events that seem to correlate to this issue. I was reading http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/870964 but I don't think this applies and there are other shares on the same drive that are still there after a reboot. To be clear about the issue; When the server reboots share x is no longer shared any more but share y and z are still there. This has nothing to do with users not being able to see the share. On the server its self the folder that was shared is no longer shared. I wish I had more information to post but after hours on this issue I can't find a way to move forward.

• Sharing / replicating EBS across AWS nodes

  I would like to use single EBS storage across multiple EC2 nodes (web/app servers). I've read some articles on snapshot sharing, but that doesn't suit well for what we need. We use filesystem for storing DB record attachments, so if one such attachment gets created, we need it to be immediately available to all nodes (to serve). So far only NFS seem to be viable, but it's a pain to configure and maintain. Another option could be storing those attachments on S3 instead, but that would cut us of doing any analysis on that data. This must be quite common problem when scaling in AWS, what solutions are there?

• Homegroup sharing problems

  I can see other people in my homegroup and their folders, but when I click on those folders, I cannot see the contents (no error message, just nothing happens). The other people in the Homegroup can see me just fine, and my files In addition, I cannot see the files that they have under the network tab, though they can all see each others stuff. What could be the issue? The homegroup has already be created and recreated numerous times. Perhaps unrelated, but I am unable to turn off password protected sharing.

  Our management team all use iPhones with the built-in iOS calendar app. We're looking into getting Microsoft Exchange for everyone here, but that'll take us some weeks to plan and roll-out across the enterprise. In the meantime, I need to provide something so group meeting availability can be determined from those calendars. Google Calendar would be ideal ("find a time") if I could find a way to link to/export the iCloud calendars, but Apple don't seem to want to do that. I could ask the management team to recreate their events for the next few weeks in individual Google Calendars, but they won't want to do that and it's wasteful rekeying of data. Any suggestions you can provide will be gratefully received.

• Snow Leopard Windows 7 File sharing issue

  Hello, wondering if anyone might have any suggestions on how to fix this issue in file sharing between Snow Leopard and Windows 7. On my home network, I have a system running windows 7 which acts as a file server: \WINDOWS7-A\SHARE I also have an IMac which can access the file share most of the time.... however now comes the problem, as soon as I introduce my Windows 7 Laptop and copy files over from it onto the file server (\Windows7-A), the file server become no longer accessible from the Snow Leopard machine... I assume this somehow has to do with elevated security on the network share having been negotiated between the 2 Windows 7 machines which is no longer allowing the Mac to see the Windows machines... but not sure how to disable this, as the only way I can restore communication between the mac and the Windows 7 machine is to restart it... less than ideal... Any suggestions would be welcome.

  I have VPN access to several machines in my office from my home machine. I'd like to be able to access those machines from another computer on my LAN, without setuping a second VPN access. Both computers are Windows 7 machines. Is there a way for my "main" computer to share its VPN access to another machine on the LAN? How would one setup this share? I don't think "simple" Internet connection sharing fits my needs because: My LAN already has its own DHCP/Router to access the Internet, and I'd like to keep it this way I can't access the Internet through my VPN connection

• Map a Network Drive from XP to Windows 7

  We’ve received a lot of questions about mapping a drive from XP to Windows 7 to access data easily. Today we look at how to map a drive in Windows 7, and how to map to an XP drive from Windows 7. With the new Homegroup feature in Windows 7, it makes sharing data between computers a lot easier. But you might need to map a network drive so you can go directly into a folder to access its contents. Mapping a network drive may sound like “IT talk”, but the process is fairly easy. Map Network Drive in Windows 7 Note: All of the computers used in this article are part of the same workgroup on a home network. In this first example we’re mapping to another Windows 7 drive on the network. Open Computer and from the toolbar click on Map Network Drive. Alternately in Computer you can hit “Alt+T” to pull up the toolbar and click on Tools \ Map Network Drive. Now give it an available drive letter, type in the path or browse to the folder you want to map to. Check the box next to Reconnect at logon if you want it available after a reboot, and click Finish. If both machines aren’t part of the same Homegroup, you may be prompted to enter in a username and password. Make sure and check the box next to Remember my credentials if you don’t want to log in every time to access it. The drive will map and the contents of the folder will open up. When you look in Computer, you’ll see the drive under network location. This process works if you want to connect to a server drive as well. In this example we map to a Home Server drive. Map an XP Drive to Windows 7 There might be times when you need to map a drive on an XP machine on your network. There are extra steps you’ll need to take to make it work however. Here we take a look at the problem you’ll encounter when trying to map to an XP machine if things aren’t set up correctly. If you try to browse to your XP machine you’ll see a message that you don’t have permission. Or if you try to enter in the path directly, you’ll be prompted for a username and password, and the annoyance is, no matter what credentials you put in, you can’t connect. To solve the problem we need to set up the Windows 7 machine as a user on the XP machine and make them part of the Administrators group. Right-click My Computer and select Manage. Under Computer Management expand Local Users and Groups and click on the Users folder. Right-click an empty area and click New User. Add in the user credentials, uncheck User must change password at next logon, then check Password never expires then click Create. Now you see the new user you created in the list. After the user is added you might want to reboot before proceeding to the next step.   Next we need to make the user part of the Administrators group. So go back into Computer Management \ Local Users and Groups \ Groups then double click on Administrators. Click the Add button in Administrators Properties window. Enter in the new user you created and click OK. An easy way to do this is to enter the name of the user you created then click Check Names and the path will be entered in for you. Now you see the user as a member of the Administrators group. Back on the Windows 7 machine we’ll start the process of mapping a drive. Here we’re browsing to the XP Media Center Edition machine. Now we can enter in the user name and password we just created. If you only want to access specific shared folders on the XP machine you can browse to them. Or if you want to map to the entire drive, enter in the drive path where in this example it’s “\\XPMCE\C$” –Don’t forget the “$” sign after the local drive letter. Then login… Again the contents of the drive will open up for you to access. Here you can see we have two drives mapped. One to another Windows 7 machine on the network, and the other one to the XP computer.   If you ever want to disconnect a drive, just right-click on it and then Disconnect. There are several scenarios where you might want to map a drive in Windows 7 to access specific data. It takes a little bit of work but you can map to an XP drive from Windows 7 as well. This comes in handy where you have a network with different versions of Windows running on it.   I'm trying to use this code which is an example taken from here https://gist.github.com/2383248 , but it is coming up with a error on the public void onClick which is Multiple markers at this line - implements android.view.View.OnClickListener.onClick - Syntax error, insert "}" to complete MethodBody, but when I add the brace it just throws another error after many tries and fails of different suggestions and ideas. • Concrete examples of state sharing between multiple viewmodels (WPF MVVM)

  I have a WPF/Entity Framework (4.0) project with many objects. I'd like to build the application so that that I can have object selection state shared across viewmodels. For Example: We have Cars, Drivers, Passengers, and Cargo classes. We also have UserControls for CarList, DriverList, etc. and editor windows for CarEditor, DriverEditor, etc. Furthermore, we have viewmodels for all of these (CarListViewModel, DriverListViewModel, CargoEditorViewModel, etc). This all composes a dockable interface where the user can have multiple object lists, editors, and viewers open. What I want is a concrete code example of how to wireup multiple viewmodels so that selecting a car in the CarList will cause that car to go live in the CarEditorView, but also be selected in any other view for which the context is valid (such as a DriverByCarView- or just DriverList if there is a filter predicate). There are a number of suggestions and discussions based on this question. The two methods that seem to dominate are: 3018307: Discusses state sharing by mentioning a messaging subsystem 1159035: Discusses state sharing by using an enclosing viewmodel Is one of these approaches better than the other? Does anyone have a concrete example of either/both of these methods in the form of a write-up or small code project? I'm still learning WPF, so pointers to entry points for reading API fundamentals are appreciated, but looking at code examples is where I usually go. • How to optimalize my game calendar in C#?

  Hi, I've implemented a simple calendar (message system) for my game which consists from: 1) List<Event> calendar; 2) public class Event { /// <summary> /// When to process the event /// </summary> public Int64 when; /// <summary> /// Which object should process the event /// </summary> public GameObject who; /// <summary> /// Type of event /// </summary> public EventType what; public int posX; public int posY; public int EventID; } 3) calendar.Add(new Event(...)) The problem with this code is that even thought the number of messages is not excessise per second. It allocates still new memory and GC will once need to take care of that. The garbage collection may lead to a slight lag in my game and therefore I'd like to optimalize my code. My considerations: To change Event class in a structure - but the structure is not entirely small and it takes some time to copy it wherever I need it. Reuse Event object somehow (add queue with used events and when new event is needed I'll just take from this queue). Does anybody has other idea how to solve the problem? Thanks for suggestions!
