    Has anybody had any luck with the following combination F# 2.0 Silverlight v3 .NET Framework 4.0 VS 2010 I have been trying all night and I just can't seem to adopt any of the existing smaples out there to run... My goal is to have a silverlight application 100% backed by F#; the examples that are referenced as working are mostly C# silverlight apps calling F# Libraries. Which in practice should be fine - but I am really trying to impress my girlfriend :)

  • Getting a friend count from facebook (possibly using api)

    Im used to working with twitter, where friend/follower totals are available in a simple xml request. My goal is a simple "enter your username/user id, and display your friends count". Is there something like this for facebook? From what i gather, ill have to make an application, and have anyone who wants to grab their friends total actually install that app from within their own facebook profile. Anyone have any experience with this?

    I try to create a PDF with multiple pages and need to calculate the height of each individual element (MultiCell) in advance to prepare for a page break. According to the documentation there are a couple of functions out there like GetCharWidth/GetStringWidth to support me in doing it on my own, but besides a potential performance lost I probably will not do it the right anyway. What I want from the tool is for it to show me the time it took the request to arrive at the web server.   • Animating custom-drawn UITableViewCell when entering edit mode

    Background First of all, much gratitude to atebits for their very informative blog post Fast Scrolling in Tweetie with UITableView. The post explains in detail how the developers were able to squeeze as much scrolling performance as possible out of the UITableViews in Tweetie. Goals Beginning with the source code linked from the blog post (original) (my github repo): Allow a UITableView using these custom cells to switch to edit mode, exposing the UI for deleting an item from the table. (github commit) Move the cell's text aside as the deletion control slides in from the left. This is complete, although the text jumps back and forth without animation. (github commit) Apply animation to the text movement in goal 2 above for a smooth user experience. This is the step where I became stuck. The Question What is the best way to introduce this animation to complete goal 3? It would be nice if this could be done in a manner that keeps the logic from my last commit because I would love the option to move the conflicting part of the view only, while any non-conflicting portions (such as right-justified text) stay in the same place or move a different number of pixels. If the above is not possible then undoing my last commit and replacing it with an option that slides the entire view to the right would be a workable solution also. I appreciate any help anyone can provide, from quick pointers and ideas all the way to code snippets or github commits. Of course you are welcome to fork my repo if you would like. I will be staying involved with this question to make sure any successful resolution is committed to github and fully documented here. Thanks very much for your time! Updated thoughts I have been thinking about this a lot since my first post and realized that moving some text items relative to others in the view could undo some of the original performance goals solved in the original blog post. So at this point I am thinking a solution where the entire single subview is animated to its new postion may be the best one. Second, if it is done in this way there may be an instance where the subview has a custom color or gradient background. Hopefully this can be done in a way that in its normal position the background extends unseen off to the left enough so that when the view is slid to the right the custom background is still visible across the entire cell.

I don't want an algorithm to change pixel by pixel the quality, so it is still a full-quality. There are two things I can't wrap my head around: How is the GridSplitter supposed to end up automatically between each item? How do I set Grid.Column for each item.

  • WSIT, Maven, and wsimport -- Can They Work Together?

    Hi all, I'm working on a small-ish multi-module project in Maven. We've separated the UI from the database layer using Web Services, and thanks to the jaxws-maven-plugin, the creation of the WSDL and WS client are more or less handled for us. (The plugin is essentially a wrapper around wsgen and wsimport.) So far so good. The problem comes when I try to layer WSIT security into the picture. NetBeans allows me to generate the security metadata easily, but wsimport seems completely incapable of dealing with anything beyond a Basic-auth level of security. So I guess my question here is, to get a WSIT-compliant client, am I stuck abandoning Maven and the jaxws plugin altogether? Is there a way to get a WSIT client to auto-generate? Or will I need to generate the client by hand? Let me know if you need any additional info beyond what I've written here. I'm deploying to Tomcat, although that doesn't seem to be an issue, as Maven seems happy to pull Metro into the deployed WAR file. Thanks in advance!

    Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML? I'm trying to take the text a user types into a text box and then put that text into a different area of the page. My plan was to take the .val() from the text box and supply that to the .html() of the <div> element. Perhaps there's a good jQuery plugin to help with this (if it's not built-in) or a better way overall to accomplish this goal.

Is there a utility or method to remove password protection on these workbook files without invoking Excel.exe or the Excel object. Our goal is to take Excel out of the process and utilize SpreadsheetGear in VB.net. However, SpreadsheetGear can only unprotect worksheets not workbooks. Thanks

The cxf-java2ws-plugin throws a ClassNotFoundException for org.springframework.core.NestedRuntimeException.     i am creating a usercontrol which provides all of the common validations for a range of textbox styles: alpha, number, decimal, SSN, etc. so, when a developer using this control selects the alpha style, they can also select another property which defines a string of special characters that could also be allowed during validation. but when the decimal style, for instance, is selected, i'd like to simply disable the special characters property so it is not settable when a style is selected that doesn't allow special characters. how can i achieve this goal? thanks
