    I created/edited a .htaccess file and I got my site password protected fine. Question though: Is there such thing as a URL key? Maybe I'm wording that incorrectly, but I would like to keep my site hidden, but be able to send out a specific URL that can view the site. What's the best way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.

  • Ubuntu 12.10 is reading mouse battery as a laptop battery

    I have a bluetooth mouse connected to my laptop. Much to my delight (I posted the suggestion!) the mouses battery is now displayed along side the laptop's battery. Unfortunately is is named simply "battery" in the drop down and "Laptop battery" once the power statistics windows is opened. The details of this battery correctly say that the model is a Lenovo Bluetooth Mouse, but it is still displayed as a "battery" and "laptop battery". Is there anyway to change this? Edit: Plus the "Show time in menu bar" shows the mouse's remaining battery percentage as opposed to the laptop battery's remaining time.

  • Can't ping Ubuntu laptop from my LAN

    My laptop has Ubuntu 10.10 and is connected to my router with full internet access, yet I can't ping it from other computers on my LAN. I tried the following: I can successfully ping those other computers from my Ubuntu laptop, so I didn't accidentally connect to someone else's network. I can successfully ping my Ubuntu laptop from itself, though I don't know if that means anything. I haven't messed with iptables at all, so it currently doesn't have any rules set that would cause it to reject anything. I made a DHCP reservation for my laptop's MAC address in my router to make sure I was always using the correct IP address. Please note that I am using a "command line only" install of Ubuntu, so I can't use any GUI network config tools. The reason I want to ping it is because I am trying to run an NFS server on the laptop, yet despite correctly setting it up I cannot access the NFS volume on another computer because it isn't even visible on the network right now.

  • 12.04 - Connecting Acer X203H monitor to new Dell XPS 15z laptop

    I have installed the latest version of Ubuntu (12.04) on my boyfriend's new Dell XPS 15z laptop. He uses a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, and an Acer X203H monitor with his set-up. No problems with the keyboard or mouse, or with connecting the HP printer, but we just can't get the laptop to talk to the Acer monitor. With his old setup he used a VGA cable to connect machine & monitor. New laptop has no VGA port, but we've bought a VGA to HDMI adaptor to connect to the laptop. Have tried using Fn F2 to change the display from laptop to monitor, but it doesn't see the monitor at all. HELP! Is there a driver I can install from somewhere? Or how can I tell Ubuntu to look for the monitor on another port? Completely in the dark, and about to get in trouble!! Thanks

  • How are USB ports related to the computer power, and why would they cause my computer to freeze?

    I have an issue with my new Toshiba laptop. Whenever I plug in an external USB device, if the laptop is not plugged in to the wall, the laptop freezes. However, nothing happens if the laptop is plugged in to the wall. When I say the laptop freezes, I mean it really freezes. The only way to recover is to hard reboot. My question is, what could be causing this? Could it be the extra power drain from the sub devices that causes this (even the simplest flash drives cause a freeze)?     Last week, I had the opportunity to help implement and integrate a strong password policy into the legacy web application developed using ASP technology. The solution I proposed was to use jQuery to display the password strength meter to help users create strong passwords. One of my colleagues asked if we would have to modify multiple pages and files if the client decided to alter the password policy. The answer is no. Thanks to jQuery, the client-side script and code behind can share the same information. The password policy information is stored in an XML file and the client-side script and code behind are reading from this to perform the password strength validation.

Using IDataErrorInfo i could successfully bind the field to a class property and with the help of styles display meaningful information about the error to users.About the submit button i use the MultiDataTrigger with conditions (Based on a post here on stackoverflow).All went well. Now i need to do the same for the passwordbox and apparently it's not as straight forward.I found on wpftutorial an article and gave it a try but for some reason it wasn't working. i've tried another one from functionalfun.   • Two SATA HDDs connected using a Black Duet HDD Docking Station via eSATA to my Laptop, second drive

    Hi I am using a BlacX Duet HDD Docking Station to connect a 1TB WD Caviar Black SATA HDD (WD10000LSRTL) and a HITACHI SATA DESKSTAR (0S00163) to my G51VX (BestBuy) laptop via the eSATA port. When I plug in both HDDs in to the Docking Station, connect the docking station to my laptop and start Windows 7 (64-bit Ultimate), only the HDD in the first drive in the port actually shows up in My Computer and Disk Management. If I swap the drives positions I can get them both to work, but never at the same time. I also checked in the bios settings on the laptop, under Advanced-IDE Configuration-SATA Operation Mode, and it displays: SATA Operation Mode: [Enhanced] AHCI Port0 [Hard Disk] Device: Hard Disk Vendor: ST9320421AS LBA Mode: Supported S.M.A.R.T.: Supported AHCI Port5 [Hard Disk] Device: Hard Disk Vendor: Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 Size: 100.00 GB LBA Mode: Supported S.M.A.R.T.: Supported There should be a third drive, but I'm not certain why it is not being picked up. Additionally, before I played around with the settings in the IDE configuration, it used to display the DVD as well.

I want the machine to be snappy and responsive even when doing a reasonable amount of Development work. I want to spend what it takes for this, but I don't want to go overboard spending more than I need to. I won't be playing many games or graphics processing so i won't need a monster of a machine. Any recommendations?

    Hey everyone, I need to write a C program that will allow me to read/write files that are owned by root. However, I can only run the code under another user. I have the root password, but there are no "sudo" or "su" commands on the system, so I have no way of accessing the root account (there are practically no shell commands whatsoever, actually). I don't know a whole lot about UNIX permissions, so I don't know whether or not it is actually possible to do this without exploiting the system in some way or running a program owned by root itself (with +s or whatever). Any advice? Thanks! P.S. No, this isn't anything malicious, this is on an iPhone.

  • Help with password complexity regex

    I'm using the following regex to validate password complexity: /^.*(?=.{6,12})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ In a nutshell: 2 lowercase, 2 uppercase, 2 numbers, min length is 6 and max length is 12. It works perfectly, except for the maximum length, when I'm using a minimum length as well. For example: /^.*(?=.{6,})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ This correctly requires a minimum length of 6! And this: /^.*(?=.{,12})(?=.*[0-9]{2})(?=.*[A-Z]{2})(?=.*[a-z]{2}).*$/ Correctly requires a maximum length of 12. However, when I pair them together as in the first example, it just doesn't work!!   • Most efficient way to use a laptop like a desktop? [closed]

    When I'm at home (which is the vast majority of the time now in Summer), I rarely use my laptop away from my desk. When it is at the desk, I plug in a monitor through HDMI, a power cable, and a mouse and keyboard that always stay there. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to a good dock or product that does a good job of transforming a laptop into a true "desktop replacement." Ideally, it would allow all the connections to remain in place, with minimal effort to take the laptop in and out of the fixture. Thanks for any suggestions!

  • MembershipUser class CreateUser password paramter

    I'm using the ASP.NET Configuration for my users and their roles. I'm also using the MembershipUser class with its function CreateUser. I have it working, but was curious about something. When I add a new user and pass this function its password parameter (which in this case is coming from a textbox on the page). It seems like it only finds and accepts that textbox value when it is 6 chars or more. For example, if I type in ab123 it'll say object not set to instance of an object. However if I do abc123 it works fine. Where is that being told to do that. I didn't know if this was something I could change or where it might be doing that. Thanks.

    I am building a service that will have a 'forgot my password' feature. In addition to that, it will also email users when results are ready from my service. I would like to ensure delivery of my emails so I was looking around to find a service that would let me send emails. All that I've been able to find so far are services that require a user to opt-in to a list. In other words, I've been unable to find any that will let me send customized messages to individual users. I am currently using swiftmailer for php but would really like to find a service to do this...Anyone know of one? G-Man
