  • Toon shader with Texture. Can this be optimized?

    - by Alex
    I am quite new to OpenGL, I have managed after long trial and error to integrate Nehe's Cel-Shading rendering with my Model loaders, and have them drawn using the Toon shade and outline AND their original texture at the same time. The result is actually a very nice Cel Shading effect of the model texture, but it is havling the speed of the program, it's quite very slow even with just 3 models on screen... Since the result was kind of hacked together, I am thinking that maybe I am performing some extra steps or extra rendering tasks that maybe are not needed, and are slowing down the game? Something unnecessary that maybe you guys could spot? Both MD2 and 3DS loader have an InitToon() function called upon creation to load the shader initToon(){ int i; // Looping Variable ( NEW ) char Line[255]; // Storage For 255 Characters ( NEW ) float shaderData[32][3]; // Storate For The 96 Shader Values ( NEW ) FILE *In = fopen ("Shader.txt", "r"); // Open The Shader File ( NEW ) if (In) // Check To See If The File Opened ( NEW ) { for (i = 0; i < 32; i++) // Loop Though The 32 Greyscale Values ( NEW ) { if (feof (In)) // Check For The End Of The File ( NEW ) break; fgets (Line, 255, In); // Get The Current Line ( NEW ) shaderData[i][0] = shaderData[i][1] = shaderData[i][2] = float(atof (Line)); // Copy Over The Value ( NEW ) } fclose (In); // Close The File ( NEW ) } else return false; // It Went Horribly Horribly Wrong ( NEW ) glGenTextures (1, &shaderTexture[0]); // Get A Free Texture ID ( NEW ) glBindTexture (GL_TEXTURE_1D, shaderTexture[0]); // Bind This Texture. • Snake Game Help

    - by MuhammadA
    I am making a snake game and learning XNA at the same time. I have 3 classes : Game.cs, Snake.cs and Apple.cs My problem is more of a conceptual problem, I want to know which class is really responsible for ... detecting collision of snake head on apple/itself/wall? which class should increase the snakes speed, size? It seems to me that however much I try and put the snake stuff into snake.cs that game.cs has to know a lot about the snake, like : -- I want to increase the score depending on size of snake, the score variable is inside game.cs, which means now I have to ask the snake its size on every hit of the apple... seems a bit unclean all this highly coupled code. or -- I DO NOT want to place the apple under the snake... now the apple suddenly has to know about all the snake parts, my head hurts when I think of that. Maybe there should be some sort of AppleLayer.cs class that should know about the snake... Whats the best approach in such a simple scenario? Any tips welcome. • How do I make a jumping dolphin rotate realistically?

    - by Johnny
    I want to program a dolphin that jumps and rotates like a real dolphin. Jumping is not the problem, but I don't know how to make the rotation. At the moment, my dolphin rotates a little weird. But I want that it rotates like a real dolphin does. How can I improve the rotation? public class Game1 : Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game { GraphicsDeviceManager graphics; SpriteBatch spriteBatch; Texture2D image, water; float Gravity = 5.0F; float Acceleration = 20.0F; Vector2 Position = new Vector2(1200,720); Vector2 Velocity; float rotation = 0; SpriteEffects flip; Vector2 Speed = new Vector2(0, 0); public Game1() { graphics = new GraphicsDeviceManager(this); Content.RootDirectory = "Content"; graphics.PreferredBackBufferWidth = 1280; graphics.PreferredBackBufferHeight = 720; } protected override void Initialize() { base.Initialize(); } protected override void LoadContent() { spriteBatch = new SpriteBatch(GraphicsDevice); image = Content.Load<Texture2D>("cartoondolphin"); water = Content.Load<Texture2D>("background"); flip = SpriteEffects.None; } protected override void Update(GameTime gameTime) { float VelocityX = 0f; float VelocityY = 0f; float time = (float)gameTime.ElapsedGameTime.TotalSeconds; KeyboardState kbState = Keyboard.GetState(); if(kbState.IsKeyDown(Keys.Left)) { rotation = 0; flip = SpriteEffects.None; VelocityX += -5f; } if(kbState.IsKeyDown(Keys.Right)) { rotation = 0; flip = SpriteEffects.FlipHorizontally; VelocityX += 5f; } // jump if the dolphin is under water if(Position.Y >= 670) { if (kbState.IsKeyDown(Keys.A)) { if (flip == SpriteEffects.None) { rotation += 0.01f; VelocityY += 40f; } else { rotation -= 0.01f; VelocityY += 40f; } } } else { if (flip == SpriteEffects.None) { rotation -= 0.01f; VelocityY += -10f; } else { rotation += 0.01f; VelocityY += -10f; } } float deltaY = 0; float deltaX = 0; deltaY = Gravity * (float)gameTime.ElapsedGameTime.TotalSeconds; deltaX += VelocityX * (float)gameTime.ElapsedGameTime.TotalSeconds * Acceleration; deltaY += -VelocityY * (float)gameTime.ElapsedGameTime.TotalSeconds * Acceleration; Speed = new Vector2(Speed.X + deltaX, Speed.Y + deltaY); Position += Speed * (float)gameTime.ElapsedGameTime.TotalSeconds; Velocity.X = 0; if (Position.Y + image.Height/2 > graphics.PreferredBackBufferHeight) Position.Y = graphics.PreferredBackBufferHeight - image.Height/2; base.Update(gameTime); } protected override void Draw(GameTime gameTime) { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue); spriteBatch.Begin(); spriteBatch.Draw(water, new Rectangle(0, graphics.PreferredBackBufferHeight -100, graphics.PreferredBackBufferWidth, 100), Color.White); spriteBatch.Draw(image, Position, null, Color.White, rotation, new Vector2(image.Width / 2, image.Height / 2), 1, flip, 1); spriteBatch.End(); base.Draw(gameTime); } } I changed my code a little. But I still have some trouble with the rotation. Here's the entire code. The dolphin looks at the wrong direction if I press the left or right key. For example, it looks down if I press the left key. What is wrong with the rotation? At the beginning, the dolphin looks at the left side, but after I pressed a key it just looks down or up. I deleted the "rotation += 0.01f;" lines in the code.   • Ingame menu is not working correctly

    - by Johnny
    The ingame menu opens when the player presses Escape during the main game. If the player presses Y in the ingame menu, the game switches to the main menu. Up to here, everything works. But: On the other hand, if the player presses N in the ingame menu, the game should switch back to the main game(should resume the main game). But that doesn't work. The game just rests in the ingame menu if the player presses N. I set a breakpoint in this line of the Ingamemenu class: KeyboardState kbState = Keyboard.GetState(); CurrentSate/currentGameState and LastState/lastGameState have the same state: IngamemenuState. • Projecting a targetting ring using direct3d

    - by JohnB
    I'm trying to draw a "targetting ring" on the ground below a "unit" in a hobby 3d game I'm working on. Basically I want to project a bright red patterned ring onto the ground terrain below the unit. The only approach I can think of is this - Draw the world once as normal Draw the world a second time but in my vertex shader I have the world x,y,z coordinates of the vertex and I can pass in the coordinates of the highlighted unit - so I can calculate what the u,v coordinates in my project texture should be at that point in the world for that vertex. I'd then use the pixel shader to pick pixels from the target ring texture and blend them into the previously drawn world. I believe that should be easy, and should work but it involves me drawing the whole visible world twice as it's hard to determine exactly which polygons the targetting ring might fall onto. It seems a big overhead to draw the whole world twice, once for the normal lit textured ground, and then again just to draw the targetting ring. Is there a better approach that I'm missing?

  • Drawing random circles

    - by ViktorC
    I am trying to draw a cupola circles at random positions in an Android application. I draw them on a bitmap and then draw that bitmap on the canvas. This is the function where a draw the circles: private void drawRandomCircles(int numOfCircles) { Canvas c = new Canvas(b); Paint cPaint = new Paint; cPaitn.setColor(Color.RED); for(int i = 0; i < numOfCircles; i++) { int x = Math.Random % 100; int y = Math.Random % 100; c.drawCircle(x, y, 20, cPaint) } } The Bitmap b is global. And after calling this function I just draw the bitmap in the onDraw method. Now the problem is that I only get one circle drawn on the screen, no matter the size of numOfCircles. Any clue what is happening here?

  • LibGdx drawing weird behaviour

    - by Ryckes
    I am finding strange behaviour while rendering TextureRegions in my game, only when pausing it. I am making a game for Android, in Java with LibGdx. When I comment out the line "drawLevelPaused()" everything seems to work fine, both running and paused. When it's not commented, everything works fine until I pause the screen, then it draws those two rectangles, but maybe ships are not shown, and if I comment out drawShips() and drawTarget() (just trying) maybe one of the planets disappears, or if I change the order, other things disappear and those that disappeared before now are rendered again. I can't find the way to fix this behaviour I beg your help, and I hope it's my mistake and not a LibGdx issue. I use OpenGL ES 2.0, stated in AndroidManifest.xml, if it is of any help. Thank you in advance. My Screen render method(game loop) is as follows: @Override public void render(float delta) { Gdx.gl.glClearColor(0.1f, 0.1f, 0.1f, 1); Gdx.gl.glClear(GL10.GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); controller.update(delta); renderer.render(); } When world state is PAUSED controller.update does nothing at all, there is a switch in it. And renderer.render() is as follows: public void render() { int worldState=this.world.getWorldState(); updateCamera(); spriteBatch.begin(); drawPlanets(); drawTarget(); drawShips(); if(worldState==World.PAUSED) { drawLevelPaused(); } else if(worldState==World.LEVEL_WON) { drawLevelWin(); } spriteBatch.end(); } And those methods are: private void updateCamera() { this.offset=world.getCameraOffset(); } private void drawPlanets() { for(Planet planet : this.world.getPlanets()) { this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(planet.getTexture()), (planet.getPosition().x - this.offset[0]) * ppuX, (planet.getPosition().y - this.offset[1]) * ppuY); } } private void drawTarget() { Target target=this.world.getTarget(); this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(target.getTexture()), (target.getPosition().x - this.offset[0]) * ppuX, (target.getPosition().y - this.offset[1]) * ppuY); } private void drawShips() { for(Ship ship : this.world.getShips()) { this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(ship.getTexture()), (ship.getPosition().x - this.offset[0]) * ppuX, (ship.getPosition().y - this.offset[1]) * ppuY, ship.getBounds().width*ppuX/2, ship.getBounds().height*ppuY/2, ship.getBounds().width*ppuX, ship.getBounds().height*ppuY, 1.0f, 1.0f, ship.getAngle()-90.0f); } if(this.world.getStillShipVisibility()) { Ship ship=this.world.getStillShip(); Arrow arrow=this.world.getArrow(); this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(ship.getTexture()), (ship.getPosition().x - this.offset[0]) * ppuX, (ship.getPosition().y - this.offset[1]) * ppuY, ship.getBounds().width*ppuX/2, ship.getBounds().height*ppuY/2, ship.getBounds().width*ppuX, ship.getBounds().height*ppuY, 1f, 1f, ship.getAngle() - 90f); this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(arrow.getTexture()), (ship.getCenter().x - this.offset[0] - arrow.getBounds().width/2) * ppuX, (ship.getCenter().y - this.offset[1]) * ppuY, arrow.getBounds().width*ppuX/2, 0, arrow.getBounds().width*ppuX, arrow.getBounds().height*ppuY, 1f, arrow.getRate(), ship.getAngle() - 90f); } } private void drawLevelPaused() { this.shapeRenderer.begin(ShapeType.FilledRectangle); this.shapeRenderer.setColor(0f, 0f, 0f, 0.8f); this.shapeRenderer.filledRect(0, 0, this.width/this.ppuX, PAUSE_MARGIN_HEIGHT/this.ppuY); this.shapeRenderer.filledRect(0, (this.height-PAUSE_MARGIN_HEIGHT)/this.ppuY, this.width/this.ppuX, PAUSE_MARGIN_HEIGHT/this.ppuY); this.shapeRenderer.end(); for(Button button : this.world.getPauseButtons()) { this.spriteBatch.draw(this.textures.getTexture(button.getTexture()), (button.getPosition().x - this.offset[0]) * this.ppuX, (button.getPosition().y - this.offset[1]) * this.ppuY); } }

  • Drawing texture does not work anymore with a small amount of triangles

    - by Paul
    When i draw lines, the vertices are well connected. But when i draw the texture inside the triangles, it only works with i<4 in the for loop, otherwise with i<5 for example, there is a EXC_BAD_ACCESS message, at @synthesize textureImage = _textureImage. I don't understand why. (The generatePolygons method seems to work fine as i tried to draw lines with many vertices as in the second image below. And textureImage remains the same for i<4 or i<5 : it's a 512px square image). Here are the images : What i want to achieve is to put the red points and connect them to the y-axis (the green points) and color the area (the green triangles) : If i only draw lines, it works fine : Then with a texture color, it works for i<4 in the loop (the red points in my first image, plus the fifth one to connect the last y) : But then, if i set i<5, the debug tool says EXC_BAD_ACCESS at the synthesize of _textureImage. Here is my code : I set a texture color in HelloWordLayer.mm with : CCSprite *textureImage = [self spriteWithColor:color3 textureSize:512]; _terrain.textureImage = textureImage; Then in the class Terrain, i create the vertices and put the texture in the draw method : @implementation Terrain @synthesize textureImage = _textureImage; //EXC_BAD_ACCESS for i<5 - (void)generatePath2{ CGSize winSize = [CCDirector sharedDirector].winSize; float x = 40; float y = 0; for(int i = 0; i < kMaxKeyPoints+1; ++i) { _hillKeyPoints[i] = CGPointMake(x, y); x = 150 + (random() % (int) 30); y += 30; } } -(void)generatePolygons{ _nPolyVertices = 0; float x1 = 0; float y1 = 0; int keyPoints = 0; for (int i=0; i<4; i++){ /* HERE : 4 = OK / 5 = crash */ //V0: at (0,0) _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = CGPointMake(x1, y1); _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices++] = CGPointMake(x1, y1); //V1: to the first "point" _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = CGPointMake(_hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].x, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices++] = CGPointMake(_hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].x, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); keyPoints++; //from point at index 0 to 1 //V2, same y as point n°2: _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = CGPointMake(0, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices++] = CGPointMake(0, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); //V1 again _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices-2]; _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices++] = _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices-2]; //V2 again _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices-2]; _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices++] = _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices-2]; //V3 = same x,y as point at index 1 _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices] = CGPointMake(_hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].x, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); _polyTexCoords[_nPolyVertices] = CGPointMake(_hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].x, _hillKeyPoints[keyPoints].y); y1 = _polyVertices[_nPolyVertices].y; _nPolyVertices++; } } - (id)init { if ((self = [super init])) { [self generatePath2]; [self generatePolygons]; } return self; } - (void) draw { //glDisable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glDisableClientState(GL_COLOR_ARRAY); glDisableClientState(GL_TEXTURE_COORD_ARRAY); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, _textureImage.texture.name); glColor4f(1, 1, 1, 1); glVertexPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, _polyVertices); glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, _polyTexCoords); glDrawArrays(GL_TRIANGLE_STRIP, 0, (GLsizei)_nPolyVertices); glColor4f(1, 1, 1, 1); for(int i = 1; i < 40; ++i) { ccDrawLine(_polyVertices[i-1], _polyVertices[i]); } // restore default GL states glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); glEnableClientState(GL_COLOR_ARRAY); glEnableClientState(GL_TEXTURE_COORD_ARRAY); } Do you see anything wrong in this code?   • Create a class that inherets DrawableGameComponent in XNA as a CLASS with custom functions

    - by user3675013
    using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content; namespace TileEngine { class Renderer : DrawableGameComponent { public Renderer(Game game) : base(game) { } SpriteBatch spriteBatch ; protected override void LoadContent() { base.LoadContent(); } public override void Draw(GameTime gameTime) { base.Draw(gameTime); } public override void Update(GameTime gameTime) { base.Update(gameTime); } public override void Initialize() { base.Initialize(); } public RenderTarget2D new_texture(int width, int height) { Texture2D TEX = new Texture2D(GraphicsDevice, width, height); //create the texture to render to RenderTarget2D Mine = new RenderTarget2D(GraphicsDevice, width, height); GraphicsDevice.SetRenderTarget(Mine); //set the render device to the reference provided //maybe base.draw can be used with spritebatch. Idk. We'll see if the order of operation //works out. Wish I could call base.draw here. return Mine; //I'm hoping that this returns the same instance and not a copy. } public void draw_texture(int width, int height, RenderTarget2D Mine) { GraphicsDevice.SetRenderTarget(null); //Set the renderer to render to the backbuffer again Rectangle drawrect = new Rectangle(0, 0, width, height); //Set the rendering size to what we want spriteBatch.Begin(); //This uses spritebatch to draw the texture directly to the screen spriteBatch.Draw(Mine, drawrect, Color.White); //This uses the color white spriteBatch.End(); //ends the spritebatch //Call base.draw after this since it doesn't seem to recognize inside the function //maybe base.draw can be used with spritebatch. Idk. We'll see if the order of operation //works out. Wish I could call base.draw here. } } } I solved a previous issue where I wasn't allowed to access GraphicsDevice outside the main Default 'main' class Ie "Game" or "Game1" etc. Now I have a new issue. FYi no one told me that it would be possible to use GraphicsDevice References to cause it to not be null by using the drawable class. (hopefully after this last bug is solved it doesn't still return null) Anyways at present the problem is that I can't seem to get it to initialize as an instance in my main program. Ie Renderer tileClipping; and I'm unable to use it such as it is to be noted i haven't even gotten to testing these two steps below but before it compiled but when those functions of this class were called it complained that it can't render to a null device. Which meant that the device wasn't being initialized. I had no idea why. It took me hours to google this. I finally figured out the words I needed.. which were "do my rendering in XNA in a seperate class" now I haven't used the addcomponent function because I don't want it to only run these functions automatically and I want to be able to call the custom ones. In a nutshell what I want is: *access to rendering targets and graphics device OUTSIDE default class *passing of Rendertarget2D (which contain textures and textures should automatically be passed with a rendering target? ) *the device should be passed to this function as well OR the device should be passed to this function as a byproduct of passing the rendertarget (which is automatically associated with the render device it was given originally) *I'm assuming I'm dealing with abstracted pointers here so when I pass a class object or instance, I should be recieving the SAME object , I referenced, and not a copy that has only the lifespan of the function running. *the purpose for all these options: I want to initialize new 2d textures on the fly to customize tileclipping and even the X , y Offsets of where a WHOLE texture will be rendered, and the X and Y offsets of where tiles will be rendered ON that surface. This is why. And I'll be doing region based lighting effects per tile or even per 8X8 pixel spaces.. we'll see I'll also be doing sprite rotations on the whole texture then copying it again to a circular masked texture, and then doing a second copy for only solid tiles for masked rotated collisions on sprites. I'll be checking the masked pixels for my collision, and using raycasting possibly to check for collisions on those areas. The sprite will stay in the center, when this rotation happens. Here is a detailed diagram: http://i.stack.imgur.com/INf9K.gif I'll be using texture2D for steps 4-6 I suppose for steps 1 as well. Now ontop of that, the clipping size (IE the sqaure rendered) will be able to be shrunk or increased, on a per frame basis Therefore I can't use the same static size for my main texture2d and I can't use just the backbuffer Or we get the annoying flicker. Also I will have multiple instances of the renderer class so that I can freely pass textures around as if they are playing cards (in a sense) layering them ontop of eachother, cropping them how i want and such. and then using spritebatch to simply draw them at the locations I want. Hopefully this makes sense, and yes I will be planning on using alpha blending but only after all tiles have been drawn.. The masked collision is important and Yes I am avoiding using math on the tile rendering and instead resorting to image manipulation in video memory which is WHY I need this to work the way I'm intending it to work and not in the default way that XNA seems to handle graphics. Thanks to anyone willing to help. I hate the code form offered, because then I have to rely on static presence of an update function. What if I want to kill that update function or that object, but have it in memory, but just have it temporarily inactive? I'm making the assumption here the update function of one of these gamecomponents is automatic ? Anyways this is as detailed as I can make this post hopefully someone can help me solve the issue. Instead of tell me "derrr don't do it this wayyy" which is what a few people told me (but they don't understand the actual goal I have in mind) I'm trying to create basically a library where I can copy images freely no matter the size, i just have to specify the size in the function then as long as a reference to that object exists it should be kept alive? right? :/ anyways.. Anything else? I Don't know. I understand object oriented coding but I don't understand this XNA It's beggining to feel impossible to do anything custom in it without putting ALL my rendering code into the draw function of the main class tileClipping.new_texture(GraphicsDevice, width, height) tileClipping.Draw_texture(...)

  • CGContextDrawPDFPage taking up large amounts of memory

    - by Ed Marty
    I have a PDF file that I want to draw in outline form. I want to draw the first several pages on the document each in their own UIImage to use on a button so that when clicked, the main display will navigate to the clicked page. However, CGContextDrawPDFPage seems to be using copious amounts of memory when attempting to draw the page. Even though the image is only supposed to be around 100px tall, the application crashes while drawing one page in particular, which according to Instruments, allocates about 13 MB of memory just for the one page. Here's the code for drawing: //Note: This is always called in a background thread, but the autorelease pool is setup elsewhere + (void) drawPage:(CGPDFPageRef)m_page inRect:(CGRect)rect inContext:(CGContextRef) g { CGPDFBox box = kCGPDFMediaBox; CGAffineTransform t = CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(m_page, box, rect, 0,YES); CGRect pageRect = CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(m_page, box); //Start the drawing CGContextSaveGState(g); //Clip to our bounding box CGContextClipToRect(g, pageRect); //Now we have to flip the origin to top-left instead of bottom left //First: flip y-axix CGContextScaleCTM(g, 1, -1); //Second: move origin CGContextTranslateCTM(g, 0, -rect.size.height); //Now apply the transform to draw the page within the rect CGContextConcatCTM(g, t); //Finally, draw the page //The important bit. Commenting out the following line "fixes" the crashing issue. CGContextDrawPDFPage(g, m_page); CGContextRestoreGState(g); } Is there a better way to draw this image that doesn't take up huge amounts of memory?

  • Combination of JFreeChart with JXLayer with JHotDraw

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    Recently, I had use JXLayer, to overlay two moving yellow message boxes, on the top of JFreeChart http://yccheok.blogspot.com/2010/02/investment-flow-chart.html I was wondering, had anyone experience using JXLayer + JHotdraw, to overlay all sorts of figures (Re-sizable text box, straight line, circle...), on the top of JFreeChart. I just would like to add drawing capability, without changing the JFreeChart source code. So that, JStock's user may draw trending lines, annotation text on their favorite stock charting. The code skeleton is as follow : // this.chartPanel is JFreeChartPanel final org.jdesktop.jxlayer.JXLayer<ChartPanel> layer = new org.jdesktop.jxlayer.JXLayer<ChartPanel>(this.chartPanel); this.myUI = new MyUI<ChartPanel>(this); layer.setUI(this.myUI); public class MyUI<V extends javax.swing.JComponent> extends AbstractLayerUI<V> { @Override protected void paintLayer(Graphics2D g2, JXLayer<? extends V> layer) { // Previous, I am using my own hand-coded, to draw the yellow box // // Now, How can I make use of JHotDraw at here, to draw various type of // figures? } @Override protected void processMouseEvent(MouseEvent e, JXLayer<? extends V> layer) { // How can I make use of JHotDraw at here? } @Override protected void processMouseMotionEvent(MouseEvent e, JXLayer<? extends V> layer) { // How can I make use of JHotDraw at here? } } As you see, I already got Graphics2D g2 from paintLayer method. How is it possible that I can pass the Graphics2D object to JHotDraw, and let JHotDraw handles all the drawing. My experience in using JHotDraw are with org.jhotdraw.draw.DefaultDrawingView org.jhotdraw.draw.DefaultDrawingEditor I am able to use them to draw various figures, by clicking on the toolbar and click on drawing area. How is it possible I can use DefaultDrawingView and DefaultDrawingEditor within MyUI's paintLayer? Also, shall I let MyUI handles the mouse event, or JHotDraw? Sorry, I start getting confused.

    I wrote simple class in JS witch works, but i had problem when i try use setInterval with it. Ex. if i do something like that ball = new ball(5,10,0, '#canvas'); ball.draw(); ball.draw(); ball.draw(); ball.draw(); It works. • Tools to extract text from powerpoint pptx in linux?

    - by felix
    Any there any linux tools that will extract the text from a Powerpoint pptx file? I tried catppt but it just returns file.pptx is not OLE file or Error. abiword --to=txt file.pptx also returns an empty text file. I can open the file in libreoffice but it doesn't seem to have an "export as text" option. As a guess I also tried libreoffice --headless --convert-to txt:Text file.pptx but that doesn't even return an empty file.

  • remove white space before delimiter with sed

    - by Erik
    I have data of the following format that I want to input into LibreOffice calc data | num | num | num | num For some reason Libreoffice does not think the string "3214 " is a number by default (trailing white space). I want to replace '(\s)*|' with '|' where \s stands for space and * for the Kleene star operation. And do this at multiple places in each line (all matches). I tried: sed -i 's/(\s)*|/|/' DataStats0914.txt But it has no effect.

  • How to shoot a triangle out of an asteroid which floats all of the way up to the screen?

    - by Holland
    I currently have an asteroid texture loaded as my "test player" for the game I'm writing. What I'm trying to figure out how to do is get a triangle to shoot from the center of the asteroid, and keep going until it hits the top of the screen. What happens in my case (as you'll see from the code I've posted), is that the triangle will show, however it will either be a long line, or it will just be a single triangle which stays in the same location as the asteroid moving around (that disappears when I stop pressing the space bar), or it simply won't appear at all. I've tried many different methods, but I could use a formula here. All I'm trying to do is write a space invaders clone for my final in C#. I know how to code fairly well, my formulas just need work is all. So far, this is what I have: Main Logic Code protected override void Draw(GameTime gameTime) { GraphicsDevice.Clear(ClearOptions.Target, Color.Black, 1, 1); mAsteroid.Draw(mSpriteBatch); if (mIsFired) { mPositions.Add(mAsteroid.LastPosition); mRay.Fire(mPositions); mIsFired = false; mRay.Bullets.Clear(); mPositions.Clear(); } base.Draw(gameTime); } Draw Code public void Draw() { VertexPositionColor[] vertices = new VertexPositionColor[3]; int stopDrawing = mGraphicsDevice.Viewport.Width / mGraphicsDevice.Viewport.Height; for (int i = 0; i < mRayPos.Length(); ++i) { vertices[0].Position = new Vector3(mRayPos.X, mRayPos.Y + 5f, 10); vertices[0].Color = Color.Blue; vertices[1].Position = new Vector3(mRayPos.X - 5f, mRayPos.Y - 5f, 10); vertices[1].Color = Color.White; vertices[2].Position = new Vector3(mRayPos.X + 5f, mRayPos.Y - 5f, 10); vertices[2].Color = Color.Red; mShader.CurrentTechnique.Passes[0].Apply(); mGraphicsDevice.DrawUserPrimitives<VertexPositionColor>(PrimitiveType.TriangleStrip, vertices, 0, 1); mRayPos += new Vector2(0, 1f); mGraphicsDevice.ReferenceStencil = 1; } }

  • Questions about game states

    - by MrPlow
    I'm trying to make a framework for a game I've wanted to do for quite a while. The first thing that I decided to implement was a state system for game states. When my "original" idea of having a doubly linked list of game states failed I found This blog and liked the idea of a stack based game state manager. However there were a few things I found weird: Instead of RAII two class methods are used to initialize and destroy the state Every game state class is a singleton(and singletons are bad aren't they?) Every GameState object is static So I took the idea and altered a few things and got this: GameState.h class GameState { private: bool m_paused; protected: StateManager& m_manager; public: GameState(StateManager& manager) : m_manager(manager), m_paused(false){} virtual ~GameState() {} virtual void update() = 0; virtual void draw() = 0; virtual void handleEvents() = 0; void pause() { m_paused = true; } void resume() { m_paused = false; } void changeState(std::unique_ptr<GameState> state) { m_manager.changeState(std::move(state)); } }; StateManager.h class GameState; class StateManager { private: std::vector< std::unique_ptr<GameState> > m_gameStates; public: StateManager(); void changeState(std::unique_ptr<GameState> state); void StateManager::pushState(std::unique_ptr<GameState> state); void popState(); void update(); void draw(); void handleEvents(); }; StateManager.cpp StateManager::StateManager() {} void StateManager::changeState( std::unique_ptr<GameState> state ) { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) { m_gameStates.pop_back(); } m_gameStates.push_back( std::move(state) ); } void StateManager::pushState(std::unique_ptr<GameState> state) { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) { m_gameStates.back()->pause(); } m_gameStates.push_back( std::move(state) ); } void StateManager::popState() { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) m_gameStates.pop_back(); } void StateManager::update() { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) m_gameStates.back()->update(); } void StateManager::draw() { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) m_gameStates.back()->draw(); } void StateManager::handleEvents() { if(!m_gameStates.empty()) m_gameStates.back()->handleEvents(); } And it's used like this: main.cpp StateManager states; states.changeState( std::unique_ptr<GameState>(new GameStateIntro(states)) ); while(gamewindow::gameWindow.isOpen()) { states.handleEvents(); states.update(); states.draw(); } Constructors/Destructors are used to create/destroy states instead of specialized class methods, state objects are no longer static but

  • LWJGL - Mixing 2D and 3D

    - by nathan
    I'm trying to mix 2D and 3D using LWJGL. I have wrote 2D little method that allow me to easily switch between 2D and 3D. protected static void make2D() { glEnable(GL_BLEND); GL11.glMatrixMode(GL11.GL_PROJECTION); GL11.glLoadIdentity(); glOrtho(0.0f, SCREEN_WIDTH, SCREEN_HEIGHT, 0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f); GL11.glMatrixMode(GL11.GL_MODELVIEW); GL11.glLoadIdentity(); } protected static void make3D() { glDisable(GL_BLEND); GL11.glMatrixMode(GL11.GL_PROJECTION); GL11.glLoadIdentity(); // Reset The Projection Matrix GLU.gluPerspective(45.0f, ((float) SCREEN_WIDTH / (float) SCREEN_HEIGHT), 0.1f, 100.0f); // Calculate The Aspect Ratio Of The Window GL11.glMatrixMode(GL11.GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); } The in my rendering code i would do something like: make2D(); //draw 2D stuffs here make3D(); //draw 3D stuffs here What i'm trying to do is to draw a 3D shape (in my case a quad) and i 2D image. I found this example and i took the code from TextureLoader, Texture and Sprite to load and render a 2D image. Here is how i load the image. TextureLoader loader = new TextureLoader(); Sprite s = new Sprite(loader, "player.png") And how i render it: make2D(); s.draw(0, 0); It works great. Here is how i render my quad: glTranslatef(0.0f, 0.0f, 30.0f); glScalef(12.0f, 9.0f, 1.0f); DrawUtils.drawQuad(); Once again, no problem, the quad is properly rendered. DrawUtils is a simple class i wrote containing utility method to draw primitives shapes. Now my problem is when i want to mix both of the above, loading/rendering the 2D image, rendering the quad. When i try to load my 2D image with the following: s = new Sprite(loader, "player.png); My quad is not rendered anymore (i'm not even trying to render the 2D image at this point). Only the fact of creating the texture create the issue. After looking a bit at the code of Sprite and TextureLoader i found that the problem appears after the call of the glTexImage2d. In the TextureLoader class: glTexImage2D(target, 0, dstPixelFormat, get2Fold(bufferedImage.getWidth()), get2Fold(bufferedImage.getHeight()), 0, srcPixelFormat, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, textureBuffer); Commenting this like make the problem disappear. My question is then why? Is there anything special to do after calling this function to do 3D? Does this function alter the render part, the projection matrix?

  • MarteEngine Tile Collision

    - by opiop65
    I need to add collision to my tile map using MarteEngine. MarteEngine is built of of slick2D. Here's my tile generation code: Code: public void render(GameContainer gc, StateBasedGame game, Graphics g) throws SlickException { for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) { for (int y = 0; y < 16; y++) { map[x][y] = AIR; air.draw(x * GameWorld.tilesize, y * GameWorld.tilesize); } } for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) { for (int y = 7; y < 8; y++) { map[x][y] = GRASS; grass.draw(x * tilesize, y * tilesize); } } for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) { for (int y = 8; y < 10; y++) { map[x][y] = DIRT; dirt.draw(x * tilesize, y * tilesize); } } for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) { for (int y = 10; y < 16; y++) { map[x][y] = STONE; stone.draw(x * tilesize, y * tilesize); } } super.render(gc, game, g); } And one of my tile classes (they're all the same, the image names are just different): Code: package MarteEngine; import org.newdawn.slick.Image; import org.newdawn.slick.SlickException; import it.randomtower.engine.entity.Entity; public class Grass extends Entity { public static Image grass = null; public Grass(float x, float y) throws SlickException { super(x, y); grass = new Image("res/grass.png"); setHitBox(0, 0, 50, 50); addType(SOLID); } } I tried to do it like this: Code: for (int x = 0; x < 16; x++) { for (int y = 7; y < 8; y++) { map[x][y] = GRASS; Grass.grass.draw(x * tilesize, y * tilesize); } } But it gave me a NullPointerException. No idea why, everything looks initialized right? I would be very grateful for some help!

  • Attach my sprite with Box2d

    - by user919496
    I'm coding Javascript(HTML5) with Box2D. And I want to ask how to attach Sprite with Box2D. This is function My sprite: function My_Sprite() { this.m_Image = new Image(); this.m_Position = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_CurFrame = 0; this.m_ColFrame = 0; this.m_Size = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_Scale = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_Rotation = 0; } My_Sprite.prototype.constructor = function (_Image_SRC) { this.m_Image.src = _Image_SRC; } My_Sprite.prototype.constructor = function (_Image_SRC,_Size,_Col) { this.m_Image.src = _Image_SRC; this.m_Size = _Size; this.m_ColFrame = _Col; this.m_Scale = new Vector2D(1, 1); } My_Sprite.prototype.Draw = function (context) { context.drawImage(this.m_Image, this.m_Size.X * (this.m_CurFrame % this.m_ColFrame), this.m_Size.Y * parseInt(this.m_CurFrame / this.m_ColFrame), this.m_Size.X, this.m_Size.Y, this.m_Position.X, this.m_Position.Y, this.m_Size.X * this.m_Scale.X, this.m_Size.Y * this.m_Scale.Y ); } and this is function Object : function Circle(type, angle, size) { // Circle.prototype = new My_Object(); // Circle.prototype.constructor = Circle; // Circle.prototype.parent = My_Object.prototype; this.m_den = 1.0; this.m_fri = 0.5; this.m_res = 0.2; fixDef.density = this.m_den; fixDef.friction = this.m_fri; fixDef.restitution = this.m_res; fixDef.shape = new b2PolygonShape; bodyDef.type = type; bodyDef.angle = angle; bodyDef.userData = m_spriteCircle; fixDef.shape = new b2CircleShape( Radius / SCALE //radius ); this.m_Body = world.CreateBody(bodyDef); this.m_Body.CreateFixture(fixDef); m_spriteCircle = new My_Sprite(); this.Init(); } Circle.prototype.Init = function () { m_spriteCircle.constructor("images/circle.png", new Vector2D(80, 80), 1); m_spriteCircle.m_CurFrame = 0; } Circle.prototype.Draw = function (context) { m_spriteCircle.Draw(context); } and I draw it : var m_Circle = new Circle(); m_Circle.Draw(context);

  • C# XNA Handle mouse events?

    - by user406470
    I'm making a 2D game engine called Clixel over on GitHub. The problem I have relates to two classes, ClxMouse and ClxButton. In it I have a mouse class - the code for that can be viewed here. ClxMouse using Microsoft.Xna.Framework; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics; using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Input; namespace org.clixel { public class ClxMouse : ClxSprite { private MouseState _curmouse, _lastmouse; public int Sensitivity = 3; public bool Lock = true; public Vector2 Change { get { return new Vector2(_curmouse.X - _lastmouse.X, _curmouse.Y - _lastmouse.Y); } } private int _scrollwheel; public int ScrollWheel { get { return _scrollwheel; } } public bool LeftDown { get { if (_curmouse.LeftButton == ButtonState.Pressed) return true; else return false; } } public bool RightDown { get { if (_curmouse.RightButton == ButtonState.Pressed) return true; else return false; } } public bool MiddleDown { get { if (_curmouse.MiddleButton == ButtonState.Pressed) return true; else return false; } } public bool LeftPressed { get { if (_curmouse.LeftButton == ButtonState.Pressed && _lastmouse.LeftButton == ButtonState.Released) return true; else return false; } } public bool RightPressed { get { if (_curmouse.RightButton == ButtonState.Pressed && _lastmouse.RightButton == ButtonState.Released) return true; else return false; } } public bool MiddlePressed { get { if (_curmouse.MiddleButton == ButtonState.Pressed && _lastmouse.MiddleButton == ButtonState.Released) return true; I was looking at normal events on some other sites, (I'd post them but I need more rep.) and didn't really see a good way to implement delegate events into my framework. I'm not really sure how these events work, could someone possibly lay out how these events are processed for me? TL:DR * Is there a better way to handle events like this? * Are events a viable solution to this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Test whether pixel is inside the blobs for ofxOpenCV

    - by mia
    I am doing an application of the concept of the dodgeball and need to test of the pixel of the ball is in the blobs capture(which is the image of the player) I am stucked and ran out of idea of how to implement it. I manage to do a little progress which have the blobs but I not sure how to test it. Please help. I am a newbie who in a desperate condition. Thank you. This is some of my code. void testApp::setup(){ #ifdef _USE_LIVE_VIDEO vidGrabber.setVerbose(true); vidGrabber.initGrabber(widthS,heightS); #else vidPlayer.loadMovie("fingers.mov"); vidPlayer.play(); #endif widthS = 320; heightS = 240; colorImg.allocate(widthS,heightS); grayImage.allocate(widthS,heightS); grayBg.allocate(widthS,heightS); grayDiff.allocate(widthS,heightS); ////<---what I want bLearnBakground = true; threshold = 80; //////////circle////////////// counter = 0; radius = 0; circlePosX = 100; circlePosY=200; } void testApp::update(){ ofBackground(100,100,100); bool bNewFrame = false; #ifdef _USE_LIVE_VIDEO vidGrabber.grabFrame(); bNewFrame = vidGrabber.isFrameNew(); #else vidPlayer.idleMovie(); bNewFrame = vidPlayer.isFrameNew(); #endif if (bNewFrame){ if (bLearnBakground == true){ grayBg = grayImage; // the = sign copys the pixels from grayImage into grayBg (operator overloading) bLearnBakground = false; } #ifdef _USE_LIVE_VIDEO colorImg.setFromPixels(vidGrabber.getPixels(),widthS,heightS); #else colorImg.setFromPixels(vidPlayer.getPixels(),widthS,heightS); #endif grayImage = colorImg; grayDiff.absDiff(grayBg, grayImage); grayDiff.threshold(threshold); contourFinder.findContours(grayDiff, 20, (340*240)/3, 10, true); // find holes } ////////////circle//////////////////// counter = counter + 0.05f; if(radius>=50){ circlePosX = ofRandom(10,300); circlePosY = ofRandom(10,230); } radius = 5 + 3*(counter); } void testApp::draw(){ // draw the incoming, the grayscale, the bg and the thresholded difference ofSetColor(0xffffff); //white colour grayDiff.draw(10,10);// draw start from point (0,0); // we could draw the whole contour finder // or, instead we can draw each blob individually, // this is how to get access to them: for (int i = 0; i < contourFinder.nBlobs; i++){ contourFinder.blobs[i].draw(10,10); } ///////////////circle////////////////////////// //let's draw a circle: ofSetColor(0,0,255); char buffer[255]; float a = radius; sprintf(buffer,"radius = %i",a); ofDrawBitmapString(buffer, 120, 300); if(radius>=50) { ofSetColor(255,255,255); counter = 0; } else{ ofSetColor(255,0,0); } ofFill(); ofCircle(circlePosX,circlePosY,radius); }
