    Hi, I am migrating my db from Interbase to Firebird, and the 1st hiccup we hit comes from our stored proc names. We have a handful of stored procedures with names greater than 31 characters (which appears to be the max in FB 2.1.3) Is there a way to increase this limitation? It will be a far easier solution than modifying our software. Thanks!

    I am using SQL server and ODBC in visual c++ for writing to the database. Currently i am using parameter binding in SQL queries ( as i fill the database with only 5 - 6 queries and same is true for retrieving data). I dont know much about stored procedures and I am wondering how much if any performance increase stored procedures have over parameter binding as in parameter binding we prepare the query only once and just execute it later in the program for diferent set of values of variables.

    We have been using Cassandra 0.6 and now have Column Families with millions of keys. We are interested in using the new Secondary Index feature available in the 0.7 but couldn't find any documentation on how the new index is stored. Is there any disk-space limitation or is the index stored similar to keys in that it's spread over multiple nodes? I've tried combing through the Cassandra site for an answer but to no avail.

    I am developing an iOS app that is password protected and all the users are stored in a wordpress account that, of course, is password protected as well. Does anybody know the format that wordpress uses to store login information for these accounts, I would assume that it is a MySQL that sends a json? I have only been able to find the database code for the initial admin page but nothing that shows the way these accounts (815 to be exact) would be stored within the site.

  • PHP upgrade to 5.3 from 5.2, sessions no longer get stored

Following the upgrade, sessions no longer work correctly. I have copied over the settings from my PHP.ini files which are applicable and configure new settings in line with the server or PHP's recommendations. PHP executes fine correctly, however session data does not get saved. I have session data stored in c:\temp. For each session created, I can see the session file in this folder. However no information gets written into the session file. Permissions wise, IUSR and EVERYONE has write access to this folder. If I downgrade to PHP 5.2, sessions are saved correctly and the site functions correctly. I have followed advise to ensure my code is optimised. closing session files correctly and forcing a session reset.   • System Center Essentials server running out of disk space due to stored old updates

    We have a System Center Essentials (SCE) server to filter updates to our laptops. We've configured it to download the update, and then the laptops get the update from this server; this of course reduces our internet bandwidth and the time it takes for employees to receive the updates, which reduces the complaints we get about how long updates take. However we currently have a total of 2,255 updates stored on the server. SCE gives a breakdown: Updates with installation errors: 29 Updates needed by computers: 280 Updates installed/up-to-date: 0 Updates with no status: 1946 Our little server has 68gb of hard disk space, and the updates are currently taking 32gb and counting. Some of the updates date back to 2003, but we can't figure out a way to delete them to free up space on the server. Right-clicking an update and clicking Uninstall threatens to remove the update from all computers, which is not what we want. Some of the updates even inform us upon viewing: This update has been replaced by a newer update. Before declining this update, it is recommended that you approve the new update first and verify that this update is no longer needed by any computers. How do you prevent your SCE server from filling its hard drive space? Is there a way to configure the server to only keep updates that are still needed? Furthermore, why (in the above breakdown of updates) are there so many updates with "no status" and 0 updates that are "installed/up-to-date"?

  • Trying to delete a directory stored on a WIndows server, mounted on a mac

    I am trying to delete a directory stored on a Windows 2008 R2 server, mounted on a Mac as network home (10.8.5). The directory was created by Safari and stores temporary internet files. I need to be able to delete this folder on logout from a Mac bash script.     Hello, I am designing a Netflix Application for BlackBerry mobile devices. I am currently working on the OAuth. I am at the point where I can generate a Netflix login page in an embedded browser field in my application. After the user signs in, Netflix will send the user from the login page to a specified callback url. The callback url will also contain an authorized token, which is then needed to send back to Netflix. My question is: How am I supposed to do this on a mobile device? Is there a procedure set in place? I am unsure how I can extract the authorized token from the callback URL and send it back to my application. From my research, it does not appear that Netflix will provide a PIN/verifier for the user to then type into the application... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks...

    Hi all, My company is putting auto build and deploy procedure in place. What we are doing now is checking out source code from svn and specify the source folder in Ant script. Is it the right way? Can we omit the exporting process and build directly from SVN? Another question is to do with versioning. At the moment, we are creating a tag whenever there is a release and then use the tag number to name the build product, which will be shipped to a client's site. I've done search on the Internet and here and it seems the correct way to name a product is like this: x.y.z.revision. However, our company is quite small and the client always want quick changes and releases. I would like to know what the drawbacks of only using tag number to name the product?
