  • Config transformations and “TransformXml task failed” error message

    - by Troy Hunt
I’ve just enabled config transformations on a .NET 3.5 project in VS2010 RC after watching Scott Hanselman’s video on web deployment. Unfortunately every time I go to publish I now get the following error: The "TransformXml" task failed unexpectedly. System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The URI is empty. at System.Uri.CreateThis(String uri, Boolean dontEscape, UriKind uriKind) at System.Uri..ctor(String uriString) at Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.TransformXml.Execute() at Microsoft.Build.BackEnd.TaskExecutionHost.Microsoft.Build.BackEnd.ITaskExecutionHost.Execute() at Microsoft.Build.BackEnd.TaskBuilder.ExecuteInstantiatedTask(ITaskExecutionHost taskExecutionHost, TaskLoggingContext taskLoggingContext, TaskHost taskHost, ItemBucket bucket, TaskExecutionMode howToExecuteTask, Boolean& taskResult) If I take a brand new VS2010 web application which already has the config transformations by default I don’t have a problem so I suspect my issue is project related. Has anyone come across this before or have any ideas on a fix?

  • Quartz Scheduler - Not running the task

    - by pandi-sus
    I am working on scheduling the tasks using Quartz API. I tried scheduling notepad.exe and in the logs, I see the following line - org.quartz.jobs.NativeJob runNativeCommand About to runcmd.exe /C c:/WINDOWS/notepad.exe ... But the notepad is not coming up. Same is the issue with any exe or batch file. I also see the notepad.exe as a running process in Task Manager. Code:- JobDataMap map = new JobDataMap(); map.put(NativeJob.PROP_COMMAND, "c:/WINDOWS/notepad.exe");

    - by nccsbim071

My problem is that, i am in a dilemma. Lets say the action i have done in Elapsed event, lets say take one hour and the timers interval is set to half an hour. so there are chances that even if the previous call to elapsed event has not ended new call to elapsed event will occur. my question will there be any conflict or is it ok or shall i use threads. please give some advice

  • How to compress CSS/JS in VS2010 Web Deployment Build Template?

    - by RPM1984
Hi all, We've recently upgraded from VS2008 - VS2010 (and hence upgrading from Web Deployment Project to proper deployment project). Obviously what's new in VS2010 web deployments is the introduction of Workflow as the build process template. Previously, we used a MSBuild task in the WDP to execute the Yahoo YUI Javascript/CSS compression module to minify/compress javascript and css files. Has anyone managed to accomplish this task with Visual Studio 2010? I have seen the new "SquishIt" compressor created by Justin Etheridge, but its not ideal as it "squishes" on the fly (e.g on Application_Start - Global.ascx) - which means you still have to push out all the uncompressed files to your web server before squishing. In the Workflow designer - i can see a toolbox item called "MSBuild" - just dont know how to use it to accomplish what i want. Been searching high and wide, no-one seems to know how. Surely someone out there has done this.

  • war Ant task with needxmlfile="false" still complains

    - by Menelaos Perdikeas
    I have the following war task in my build.xml and even though needxmlfile is set to false, Ant (version 1.8.2) complains when the web.xml file does not exist ("BUILD FAILED ... Deployment descriptor: /home/.../web/WEB-INF/web.xml does not exist") What am I missing? <target name="war" depends="build"> <mkdir dir="${build.dir}"/> <war needxmlfile="false" basedir="${webroot.dir}" warfile="${build.dir}/${project.distname}.war" webxml="${webinf.dir}/web.xml"> <exclude name="WEB-INF/${build.dir}/**"/> <exclude name="WEB-INF/src/**"/> <exclude name="WEB-INF/web.xml"/> </war> </target>

  • Using Phing's dbdeploy task with transactions

    - by Gordon
I am using Phing's dbdeploy task to manage my database schema. This is working fine, as long as there is no errors in my delta file. However, if there is an error, dbdeploy will just run the delta files up to the query with the error and then abort. This causes me some frustration, because I have to manually rollback the entry in the changelog table then. If I don't, dbdeploy will assume the migration was successful on a subsequent try. So the question is, there any way to get dbdeploy use transactions?

  • Filtering manager for django model, customized by user

    - by valya
Hi there! I have a model, smth like this: class Action(models.Model): def can_be_applied(self, user): #whatever return True and I want to override its default Manager. But I don't know how to pass the current user variable to the manager, so I have to do smth like this: [act for act in Action.objects.all() if act.can_be_applied(current_user)] How do I get rid of it by just overriding the manager? Thanks.

  • Refactoring a custom User model to user UserProfile: Should I create a custom UserManager or add use

    - by BryanWheelock
I have been refactoring an app that had customized the standard User model from django.contrib.auth.models by creating a UserProfile and defining it with AUTH_PROFILE_MODULE. The problem is the attributes in UserProfile are used throughout the project to determine the User sees. I had been creating tests and putting in this type of statement repeatedly: user = User.objects.get(pk=1) user_profile = user.get_profile() if user_profile.karma > 10: do_some_stuff() This is tedious and I'm now wondering if I'm violating the DRY principle. Would it make more sense to create a custom UserManager that automatically loads the UserProfile data when the user is requested. I could even iterate over the UserProfile attributes and append them to the User model. This would save me having to update all the references to the custom model attributes that litter the code. Of course, I'd have to reverse to process for to allow the User and UserProfile models to be updated correctly. Which approach is more Django-esque?

  • Create Task Report from Mylyn?

    - by luis.espinal
Hello all - is there a way to create a task/activity report (say a weekly report) off tasks managed with Mylyn? I've been using Rachota TimeTracker which allows me to create reports (in html format) http://rachota.sourceforge.net/en/demo.html I've just started using mylyn (our company uses Embarcadero JBuilder which is is based on Eclipse), but I don't see anywhere in the Eclipse or Embarcadero docs about reporting capabilities. Is it possible? Is it possible to query activities worked on a prior week and report statistics out of it (management like reports, you know;) I'm sure it is, but I haven't been able to google it out. Thanks.

  • How to pass -f specdoc option through rake task

    - by dorelal
I am using rails 2.3.5 .rake spec works fine. This is from spec --help. spec --help -f, --format FORMAT[:WHERE] Specifies what format to use for output. Specify WHERE to tell the formatter where to write the output. All built-in formats expect WHERE to be a file name, and will write to $stdout if it's not specified. The --format option may be specified several times if you want several outputs Builtin formats: silent|l : No output progress|p : Text-based progress bar profile|o : Text-based progress bar with profiling of 10 slowest examples specdoc|s : Code example doc strings nested|n : Code example doc strings with nested groups indented html|h : A nice HTML report failing_examples|e : Write all failing examples - input for --example failing_example_groups|g : Write all failing example groups - input for --example How do I pass -f specdoc through rake task.

  • Creating a window manager type overlay for Mac OS X

    - by zorg1379
I want to make my own window manager for OS X, or at least give it the appearance of a new one. I have many designs written down in a book, and would like to implement them. These include altering, or even completely removing, menu bars, creating entirely new guis for switching applications, etc. I know that OS X does not have a window manager, and that basically the functions that an X11 window manager would perform are done by Carbon, Cocoa, the Dock application, and the window server. I've read that it would take an incredible amount of reverse engineering to write my own api, etc. at the hardware level. I am still not that good at programming though, and don't have that kind of time. That's why I was thinking of maybe running an application on top of OS X that will function like a separate window manager - and do everything that the normal OS GUI / window manager would do. Is this possible? For example: making a custom button that would appear upon a certain key combination, that could be clicked to access a document viewer, change the time, minimize a window, etc. Is there some way to access functionality to basic tasks / actions like this without using the default OS X button controls, and implementing them with my own GUI? I am talking about more than a simple theme change, I want to completely change the user experience. This means that this application would be run in a full screen mode that blocks out default OS X menu bars. I've heard something about using graphics architectures to plug in your own window manager? Would this be an option too? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thank you,

  • Render a partial from a task in Symfony 1.4

    - by Cryo
I'm trying to render a partial in a Symfony task and having no luck. I found docs in 1.1 that say to just call get_partial() but apparently that's no longer readily available in 1.4. I tried loading the helper manually with sfLoader::getHelpers('Partial'); but I get "Class sfLoader not found". Any help would be greatly appreciated. For reference what I'm trying to do is generate an HTML file called 'header.html' from my global header partial used in all of my layouts for inclusion in a third-party forum I'm integrating (Simple Machines/SMF).

  • Annotate and Aggregate function in django

    - by thesteve
In django I have the following tables and am trying to count the number of votes by item. class Votes(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) item = models.ForeignKey(Item) class Item(models.Model): name = models.CharField() description = models.TextField() I have the following queryset queryset = Votes.objects.values('item__name').annotate(Count('item')) that returns a list with item name and view count but not the item object. How can I set it up so that the object is returned instead of just the string value? I have been messing around with Manager and Queryset methods, that the right track? Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Remove Activity as Default Launcher

    - by sixeightzero
I set my activity as a default launcher to intercept home button clicks like so: <activity android:name=".ExampleActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.HOME" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" /> </intent-filter> </activity> When my activity, ExampleActivity is launched, if i click the home key, I get prompted to choose. If I select make this my default and chose my activity, I am stuck In my activity as desired. The problem is, when I leave the activity, I try to remove my activity from the default launcher, but am unsuccessful. I have tried: ComponentName componentName = new ComponentName( "com.example.exampleactivity", "com.example.exampleactivity.class"); pm.setComponentEnabledSetting(componentName, PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DEFAULT, PackageManager.DONT_KILL_APP); And: PackageManager pm = getActivity().getPackageManager(); ComponentName name = new ComponentName(this, "com.example.exampleactivity.class"); pm.setComponentEnabledSetting(name, PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DISABLED, 0); But my designation for the home is never removed. Does anyone have a working way to fix the above? I only wan't the home button to be default for a specific activity, not my entire application. When I leave the activity, it should be removed and restored to default.

  • SSIS web service task parsing result.

    - by dbengals
I have an ssis (2005) package that uses the web service task to download to a file destination. The file contains a string of xml data. After downloaded the file looks like this. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <string>--here is XML data with escaped characters--</string> My thought was I could then use the XML source data flow source to pull the <string> data, but when I set this up the XML source will not read the <string> as a column. It will generate an xsd and it seems normal, but no luck seeing the column. Any ideas on getting this to work? Or would there be a better way to pull the data within the file generated from the web service? Thanks.

  • scheduled task or windows service

    - by czuroski
Hello, I have to create an app that will read in some info from a db, process the data, write changes back to the db, and then send an email with these changes to some users or groups. I will be writing this in c#, and this process must be run once a week at a particular time. This will be running on a Windows 2008 Server. In the past, I would always go the route of creating a windows service with a timer and setting the time/day for it to be run in the app.config file so that it can be changed and only have to be restarted to catch the update. Recently, though, I have seen blog posts and such that recommend writing a console application and then using a scheduled task to execute it. I have read many posts talking to this very issue, but have not seen a definitive answer about which process is better. What do any of you think? Thanks for any thoughts.
