  • does entity framework or mysql provider swallows timeout exceptions on enumeration of result?!

    - by Freddy Rios
I'm trying to make sense of a situation I have using entity framework on .net 3.5 sp1 + MySQL 6.1.2.0 as the provider. It involves the following code: Response.Write("Products: " + plist.Count() + "<br />"); var total = 0; foreach (var p in plist) { //... some actions total++; //... other actions } Response.Write("Total Products Checked: " + total + "<br />"); Basically the total products is varying on each run, and it isn't matching the full total in plist. Its varies widely, from ~ 1/5th to half. There isn't any control flow code inside the foreach i.e. no break, continue, try/catch, conditions around total++, anything that could affect the count. As confirmation, there are other totals captured inside the loop related to the actions, and those match the lower and higher total runs. I don't find any reason to the above, other than something in entity framework or the mysql provider that causes it to end the foreach when retrieving an item. The body of the foreach can have some good variation in time, as the actions involve file & network access, my best shot at the time is that when it takes beyond certain threshold there is some type of timeout in the underlying framework/provider and instead of causing an exception it is silently reporting no more items for enumeration. Can anyone give some light in the above scenario and/or confirm if the entity framework/mysql provider has the above behavior?

  • Can Windows log CryptoAPI CRL timouts?

    - by makerofthings7
We have several .NET applications that occasionally "act slow" with no CPU or disk access. I suspect that they are hung up on authentication when trying to validate the certificate, since the timeout is almost 20 seconds. As per this MSFT article Most applications do not specify to CryptoAPI to use a cumulative time-out. If the cumulative time-out option is not enabled, CryptoAPI uses the CryptoAPI default setting which is a time-out of 15 seconds per URL. If the cumulative time-out option specified by the application, then CryptoAPI will use a default setting of 20 seconds as the cumulative timeout. The first URL receives a maximum timeout of 10 seconds. Each subsequent URL timeout is half of the remaining balance in the cumulative timeout value. Since this is a service, how can I detect and log CryptoAPI hangs for applications I have sourcecode to, and also 3rd party

  • What is the purpose of netcat's "-w timeout" option when ssh tunneling?

    - by jrdioko
I am in the exact same situation as the person who posted another question, I am trying to tunnel ssh connections through a gateway server instead of having to ssh into the gateway and manually ssh again to the destination server from there. I am trying to set up the solution given in the accepted answer there, a ~/.ssh/config that includes: host foo User webby ProxyCommand ssh a nc -w 3 %h %p host a User johndoe However, when I try to ssh foo, my connection stays alive for 3 seconds and then dies with a Write failed: Broken pipe error. Removing the -w 3 option solves the problem. What is the purpose of that -w 3 in the original solution, and why is it causing a Broken pipe error when I use it? What is the harm in omitting it?

  • Keeps "SSH timeout" error in our AWS instance- how do i diagnose?

    - by ming yeow
I am befuddled by this error. We keep failing to SSH into our AWS instance, whether it is is deployment or via console. I have tried rebooting a few times, but it does not seem to be helping. Here are a couple of error messages i keep getting. connection failed for: HOST.NAME.amazonaws.com (Errno::ETIMEDOUT: Operation timed out - connect(2)) 111.222.333.444: ssh connection failed at 2010-07-02 03:39:37 I also SSHed in when it was up, and monitored "top" when ssh times out. looking at the memory logs, it does not look like any program was hogging

  • Exchange 2010, multiple accepted domains, UCC and outside webhosts

    - by westbadger
We have an Exchange 2010 server configured to send and receive mail on several accepted domains for Outlook Anywhere, with a UCC cert addressing each mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com, mail.otherplace.com etc. This worked fine until an SSL domain validation cert for one of the additional domains - where the www.otherplace.com is hosted outside our org - expired. Now Exchange users in mail.otherplace.com get an expired cert warning for otherplace.com when connecting to our mail.domain.com portal. They still get mail, but with a repeated popup in Outlook 2007 and 2010. If I understand it correctly - Outlook autodiscover connects by first polling otherplace.com/autodiscover - which is the outside www server with the expired cert before continuing on to autodiscover.otherplace.com - which is where the MX record points to our in-house Exchange UCC. I'm trying to find out if we should: 1) turn down all mail functions on the outside webserver 2) delete the expired (useless for an informational site) cert on the outside webserver 3) renew the cert for otherplace.com on the outside webserver - or something completely different? Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  • Cisco ASA - Enable communication between same security level

    - by Conor
    I have recently inherited a network with a Cisco ASA (running version 8.2). I am trying to configure it to allow communication between two interfaces configured with the same security level (DMZ-DMZ) "same-security-traffic permit inter-interface" has been set, but hosts are unable to communicate between the interfaces. I am assuming that some NAT settings are causing my issue. Below is my running config: ASA Version 8.2(3) ! hostname asa enable password XXXXXXXX encrypted passwd XXXXXXXX encrypted names ! interface Ethernet0/0 switchport access vlan 400 ! interface Ethernet0/1 switchport access vlan 400 ! interface Ethernet0/2 switchport access vlan 420 ! interface Ethernet0/3 switchport access vlan 420 ! interface Ethernet0/4 switchport access vlan 450 ! interface Ethernet0/5 switchport access vlan 450 ! interface Ethernet0/6 switchport access vlan 500 ! interface Ethernet0/7 switchport access vlan 500 ! interface Vlan400 nameif outside security-level 0 ip address XX.XX.XX.10 255.255.255.248 ! interface Vlan420 nameif public security-level 20 ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0 ! interface Vlan450 nameif dmz security-level 50 ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0 ! interface Vlan500 nameif inside security-level 100 ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 ! ftp mode passive clock timezone JST 9 same-security-traffic permit inter-interface same-security-traffic permit intra-interface object-group network DM_INLINE_NETWORK_1 network-object host XX.XX.XX.11 network-object host XX.XX.XX.13 object-group service ssh_2220 tcp port-object eq 2220 object-group service ssh_2251 tcp port-object eq 2251 object-group service ssh_2229 tcp port-object eq 2229 object-group service ssh_2210 tcp port-object eq 2210 object-group service DM_INLINE_TCP_1 tcp group-object ssh_2210 group-object ssh_2220 object-group service zabbix tcp port-object range 10050 10051 object-group service DM_INLINE_TCP_2 tcp port-object eq www group-object zabbix object-group protocol TCPUDP protocol-object udp protocol-object tcp object-group service http_8029 tcp port-object eq 8029 object-group network DM_INLINE_NETWORK_2 network-object host 192.168.20.10 network-object host 192.168.20.30 network-object host 192.168.20.60 object-group service imaps_993 tcp description Secure IMAP port-object eq 993 object-group service public_wifi_group description Service allowed on the Public Wifi Group. • Installed Ubuntu 14.04LTS

    - by user291729
On my laptop which came pre-installed with Windows 8.1. Felt I needed to see the competition for myself to establish which was a better OS. So I followed the channels to dual boot. All seemed fine and I accessed Ubuntu with no issues after selecting this from the menu to select the OS. I should add that the boot method was changed to legacy. However, since using Ubuntu, I no longer have the ability to select the OS. The laptop simply logs straight into Ubuntu. I therefore attempted to access the recovery options, only it appears the Windows 8 bootloader has somehow been corrupted as I am now told to use the Windows 8 recovery disc (which, as this was pre-installed - I do not have). Left with no other alternative, I have scoured these forums without success, and so I am hoping someone in the know (or who has experienced similar) can help. I have tried boot repair again without success. On rebooting I am only presented with a basic splash screen asking me to select Ubuntu, Memtest, Windows 8 Recovery or Windows 8 Bootloader (The bootloaders again require I insert the disc). I have tried Code: cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg df -h sudo fdisk -l cat /proc/partitions # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### if [ -s $prefix/grubenv ]; However, if I'm to try using Ubuntu again then there is the risk this problem may come back. Again, I did not do anything manually - the installer did everything (with the exception of changing the boot to Legacy to allow the booting of another bootloader). LiveCD works but doesn't give me the options that I've seen here and as mentioned earlier, only boot recovery only gives me the options as mentioned earlier. Also this fails to load via USB (possibly because HDD comes before USB in the boot order?). Being used to a Windows environment, the Ubuntu (and Linux) environment is a dive at a less than comfortable depth at present (but one I fully intend to get to grips with - especially the commands being more common via Terminal). I very much appreciate the help with this guys.

  • RDA Health Checks for SOA

    - by ShawnBailey
What is a health check in RDA? A health check evaluates something in your environment to determine whether a change needs to be considered in order to avoid a problem or optimize fuctionality. Examples of what this 'something' might be are: Configuration Parameters JVM Options Runtime Statistics What have we done for SOA? In the latest release of RDA, 4.30, we have added a Rule Set for SOA called 'Oracle SOA 11g (11.1.1) Post Installation (Generic)'. This Rule Set contains 14 SOA related health checks. These checks were all derived from common issues / solutions we see in support of the SOA product. Many of the recommendations come from the product documentation while others are covered in the SOA Knowledge Base. Our goal is that you will be able to easily identify the areas of concern and understand the guidance available from the output of the Rule Set. Running the health checks for SOA The rules that the checks use are installed with RDA and bundled by product or functional area into what are called 'Rule Sets'. To view the available Rule Sets simply run the command from the RDA home location: rda.cmd (or .sh) -dT hcve This will bring up a list of the available HCVE (Health Check / Verification Engine) Rule Sets. Each Rule Set contains a group of related rules that are used for evalutation and display of results. A rule can be considered synonymous with a single health check and they are assigned an ID, Name and Description that can be seen when they are executed. The Rule Set for SOA is option number 11 and you just enter this selection at the prompt. The Rule Set will then execute to completion. After running an HCVE Rule Set the tool will write the output to the RDA_HOME/output folder. The simplest way to view the output is to drag the .htm file to a browser but of course it can also be uploaded to a Service Request for evaluation by Oracle Support. Many of the Rule Sets will prompt you for information before they can execute their rules but the SOA Rule Set will identify the SOA domains configured in your RDA setup.cfg file. This means that you don't need to answer all of the questions again about where stuff is but it also means that you must have configured RDA for SOA. To run the Rule Set: Download the latest version of RDA from MOS Doc ID 314422.1 Configure RDA for your SOA domains. Detailed steps can be found here In it's simplest form the command is 'rda.cmd (.sh) -S SOA' Go to the RDA home location and enter the command 'rda.cmd (or .sh) -dT hcve' Select option '11' It should be noted that this our first release of a SOA Rule Set so there will probably be some things we need to clean up or fix. None of these rules will actually modify anything on your system as they are read only and do the evaluations internally. Please let us know if you have any issues with the rules or ideas for new ones so we can make them as useful as possible. The Checks Here is a list of the SOA health checks by ID, Name and Description. ID Name Description A00100 SOA Domain Homes Lists the SOA domains that were indentified from the RDA setup.cfg file A00200 Coherence Protocol Conflict Checks to see if you have both Unicast and Multicast configured in the same domain. Checks both the setDomainEnv and config.xml entries (if it exists). We recommend Unicast with fully qualified host names or IP addresses. A00210 Coherence Fully Qualified Host Checks that the host names are fully qualified or that IP addresses are used. Will fail if unqualified host names are detected. A00220 Unicast Local Host Checks that the Coherence localhost is specified for use with Unicast A00300 JTA Timeout Checks that the JTA timeout is configured for the domain and lists the value. The bundled rule will only list the current values of the JTA timeout for each SOA Domain. In the future the rule with fail with a warning if the value is 300 seconds or lower. It is recommended that timeouts follow the pattern 'syncMaxWaitTime' < EJB Timeouts < JTA Timeout. The 300 second value is important because the EJB Timeouts default to 300 seconds. Additional information can be found in MOS Doc ID 880313.1. A00310 XA Max Time Checks that the JTA Maximum XA call time is set for the domain. Fails if it is not explicitly set or if the value is less than or equal to the default of 12000 ms. A00320 XA Timeout Checks that the XA timeout is enabled and that the value is '0' for the SOA Data Source (SOADataSource-jdbc.xml) A00330 JDBC Statement Timeout Checks that the Statement Timeout is set for all SOA Data Sources. Fails if the value is not set or if it is set to the default of -1. A00400 XA Driver Checks that the SOA Data Source is configured to use an XA driver. Fails if it is not. A00410 JDBC Capacity Settings Checks that the minimum and maximum capacity are equal for all SOA Data Sources. Fails if they are not and lists specifically which data sources failed. A00500 SOA Roles Checks that the default SOA roles 'SOAAdmin' and 'SOAOperator' are configured for the soa-infra application in the file sytem-jazn-data.xml. Fails if they are not. A00700 SOA-INFRA Deployment Checks that the soa-infra application is deployed to either a cluster, all members of a cluster or a stand alone server. A00710 SOA Deployments Checks that the SOA related applications are deployed to the same domain members as soa-infra. A00720 SOA Library Deployments Checks that the SOA related libraries are deployed to the same domain members as soa-infra. A00730 Data Source Deployments Checks that the SOA Data Sources are all targeted to the same domain members as soa-infra

  • What does a connection timeout indicate when performing an NFS mount?

    - by DeeDee
We have a shiny new QNAP NAS (TS-879U-RP), and I'm trying to mount it to our big ol' RHEL server in the same manner as our other two QNAP NAS devices. The IT department won't give me the root privileges to the NAS, so I can't SSH in (I know, I know). The first thing I did was to, via the QNAP web admin interface, create a network share named "Runs." I then added the IP of the RHEL server to the permissions list: On the RHEL server, I then added the following line to /etc/fstab: [IP of NAS]:/Runs /mnt/gsrnas3 nfs defaults 0 0 Aside from the IP and the specific mount directory name, this is how I mounted the other two NAS devices. I then created the gsrnas3 directory under /mnt/, and then ran `mount /mnt/gsrnas3' I got the following error: mount.nfs: Connection timed out My first thought is that it's a ports issue, but I don't have enough specific experience with this issue to know for sure. I have two other NAS devices by the same manufacturer already mounted to this RHEL server, so that leads me to believe the configuration issue is on the NAS side of things. I can ping the NAS device successfully from the RHEL server. Not being able to SSH into said NAS is a huge hassle, though. Any ideas?

  • Can't access shared drive when connecting over VPN

    - by evolvd
I can ping all network devices but it doesn't seem that DNS is resolving their hostnames. ipconfig/ all is showing that I am pointing to the correct dns server. I can "ping "dnsname"" and it will resolve but it wont resolve any other names. Split tunnel is set up so outside DNS is resolving fine So one issue might be DNS but I have the IP address of the server share so I figure I could just get to it that way. example: \10.0.0.1\ well I can't get to it that way either and I get "the specified network name is no longer available" I can ping it but I can't open the share. • apache: can't renew ssl certificate

    - by Caballero
I have Godaddy SSL certificate for one website on my dedicated server running Centos 5.3 / Apache 2.2.3. I have renewed certificate on Godaddy recently, however now it's showing as expired on my website. I've re-keyed certificate since and reuploaded domain.key, domain.crt and bundle.crt (example file names) files to the server, restarted apache, but the sertificate still shows as expired. I'm running out of clues. I've tried replacing content of .crt files with jiberish and restart apache - it's still showing that certificate is expired, even though it shouldn't be picked up at all. I eventually rebooted dedicated server, still no luck. I'm using free SSL check tool http://www.digicert.com/help/ which clearly shows all the green checks except one - certificate is expired. Has someone any idea what might be causing this? Could there be some kind of caching going on here? UPDATE: after running openssl x509 -in domain.crt -noout -enddate I'm getting this output: notAfter=Jun 2 08:16:51 2013 GMT So I asume this means I have the right certificate on the server and yet the old expired one shows on the web...

  • ISCSI: Ethernet cable maximum length vs. SCSI command timeout

    - by Jeremy Hajek
I have a question about a non-optimal setup and the practical implications of this. Ideally you would place the ESXi server right in the same room as the FreeNas white box end of question. My situation is this: I have a run of ~125ft of Cat 5e connecting a ESXi server to a FreeNas whitebox in the server room. I know the distance of the ethernet cable is within the maximum distance for ethernet traffic but I have two questions... Can Cat 5e support gigbit speeds at that distance if the switch on the back end is a linksys SRW-2048? Should I be concerned about the distance causing data read and write timeouts in the SCSI portion--(disk operations of the ESXi)?

  • Apache+FastCGI Timeout Error: "has failed to remain running for 30 seconds given 3 attempts, its restart interval has been backed off to 600 seconds"

    - by Sadjad Fouladi
I've recently installed mod_fastcgi and Apache 2.2. I have a simple cgi script as below (test.fcgi): #!/bin/sh echo sadjad But when I invoke 'mysite.com/test.fcgi' I see "Internal Server Error" after a short period of time. The error.log file shows this error message: [Tue Jan 31 22:23:57 2006] [warn] FastCGI: (dynamic) server "~/public_html/oaduluth/dispatch.fcgi" has failed to remain running for 30 seconds given 3 attempts, its restart interval has been backed off to 600 seconds This is my .htaccess file: AddHandler fastcgi-script .fcgi RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ django.fcgi/$1 [QSA,L] What could the problem be? Is it my .htaccess file?

  • Why do I get a WCF timeout even though my service call and callback are successful?

    - by KallDrexx
I'm playing around with hooking up an in-game console to a WCF interface, so an external application can send console commands and receive console output. To accomplish this I created the following service contracts: public interface IConsoleNetworkCallbacks { [OperationContract(IsOneWay = true)] void NewOutput(IEnumerable<string> text, string category); } [ServiceContract(SessionMode = SessionMode.Required, CallbackContract = typeof(IConsoleNetworkCallbacks))] public interface IConsoleInterface { [OperationContract] void ProcessInput(string input); [OperationContract] void ChangeCategory(string category); } On the server I implemented it with: public class ConsoleNetworkInterface : IConsoleInterface, IDisposable { public ConsoleNetworkInterface() { ConsoleManager.Instance.RegisterOutputUpdateHandler(OutputHandler); } public void Dispose() { ConsoleManager.Instance.UnregisterOutputHandler(OutputHandler); } public void ProcessInput(string input) { ConsoleManager.Instance.ProcessInput(input); } public void ChangeCategory(string category) { ConsoleManager.Instance.UnregisterOutputHandler(OutputHandler); ConsoleManager.Instance.RegisterOutputUpdateHandler(OutputHandler, category); } protected void OutputHandler(IEnumerable<string> text, string category) { var callbacks = OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel<IConsoleNetworkCallbacks>(); callbacks.NewOutput(text, category); } } On the client I implemented the callback with: public class Callbacks : IConsoleNetworkCallbacks { public void NewOutput(IEnumerable<string> text, string category) { MessageBox.Show(string.Format("{0} lines received for '{1}' category", text.Count(), category)); } } Finally, I establish the service host with the following class: public class ConsoleServiceHost : IDisposable { protected ServiceHost _host; public ConsoleServiceHost() { _host = new ServiceHost(typeof(ConsoleNetworkInterface), new Uri[] { new Uri("net.pipe://localhost") }); _host.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IConsoleInterface), new NetNamedPipeBinding(), "FrbConsolePipe"); _host.Open(); } public void Dispose() { _host.Close(); } } and use the following code on my client to establish the connection: protected Callbacks _callbacks; protected IConsoleInterface _proxy; protected void ConnectToConsoleServer() { _callbacks = new Callbacks(); var factory = new DuplexChannelFactory<IConsoleInterface>(_callbacks, new NetNamedPipeBinding(), new EndpointAddress("net.pipe://localhost/FrbConsolePipe")); _proxy = factory.CreateChannel(); _proxy.ProcessInput("Connected"); } So what happens is that my ConnectToConsoleServer() is called and then it gets all the way to _proxy.ProcessInput("Connected");. In my game (on the server) I immediately see the output caused by the ProcessInput call, but the client is still stalled on the _proxy.ProcessInput() call. After a minute my client gets a JIT TimeoutException however at the same time my MessageBox message appears. So obviously not only is my command being sent immediately, my callback is being correctly called. So why am I getting a timeout exception? Note: Even removing the MessageBox call, I still have this issue, so it's not an issue of the GUI blocking the callback response.

  • Setting serial RS232 port settings; any in C# alternatives to SerialPort class ?

    - by adrin
In my .NET application I need to achieve serial port setup equivalent to this C++ managed code: ::SetCommMask(m_hCOMM, EV_RXCHAR); ::SetupComm(m_hCOMM, 9*2*128*10, 400); ::PurgeComm(m_hCOMM, PURGE_TXABORT|PURGE_RXABORT|PURGE_TXCLEAR|PURGE_RXCLEAR); COMMTIMEOUTS timeOut; timeOut.ReadIntervalTimeout = 3; timeOut.ReadTotalTimeoutConstant = 3; timeOut.ReadTotalTimeoutMultiplier = 1; timeOut.WriteTotalTimeoutConstant = 0; timeOut.WriteTotalTimeoutMultiplier= 0; int nRet= ::SetCommTimeouts(m_hCOMM, &timeOut); ::EscapeCommFunction(m_hCOMM, SETDTR); ::EscapeCommFunction(m_hCOMM, SETRTS); DCB dcb; memset(&dcb, 0, sizeof(DCB)); dcb.BaudRate= m_nSpeed; dcb.ByteSize= 8; dcb.fParity = FALSE; dcb.Parity = NOPARITY; dcb.StopBits= ONESTOPBIT; dcb.fBinary = TRUE; dcb.fDsrSensitivity= FALSE; dcb.fOutxDsrFlow= FALSE; dcb.fOutxCtsFlow= FALSE; dcb.fDtrControl = DTR_CONTROL_HANDSHAKE; dcb.fRtsControl = RTS_CONTROL_TOGGLE; nRet= ::SetCommState(m_hCOMM, &dcb); Is it possible at all? How do I approach this problem? Are there any (preferable free) libraries that allow such low level serial port control or should I create my own wrapper on top of Win32 api? Anyone did anything similar or has an idea how to 'glue' win32 serial port api with .net so that I can use neat .NET DataReceived() events ? Or maybe I can create .NET SerialPort instance and then modify it using managed API?

  • How to end a thread in perl

    - by user1672190
I am new to perl and i have a question about perl thread. I am trying to create a new thread to check if the running function is timed out, and my way of doing it is as below. Logic is 1.create a new thread 2.run the main function and see if it is timed out, if ture, kill it Sample code: $exit_tread = false; # a flag to make sure timeout thread will run my $thr_timeout = threads->new( \&timeout ); execute main function here; $exit_thread = true # set the flag to true to force thread ends $thr_timeout->join(); #wait for the timeout thread ends Code of timeout function sub timeout { $timeout = false; my $start_time = time(); while (!$exit_thread) { sleep(1); last if (main function is executed); if (time() - $start_time >= configured time ) { logmsg "process is killed as request timed out"; _kill_remote_process(); $timeout = true; last; } } } now the code is running as i expected, but i am just not very clear if the code $exit_thread = true works because there is a "last" at the end of while loop. Can anybody give me a answer? Thanks

  • HAProxy + NodeJS gets stuck on TCP Retransmission

    - by sled
I have a HAProxy + NodeJS + Rails Setup, I use the NodeJS Server for file upload purposes. The problem I'm facing is that if I'm uploading through haproxy to nodejs and a "TCP (Fast) Retransmission" occurs because of a lost packet the TX rate on the client drops to zero for about 5-10 secs and gets flooded with TCP Retransmissions. This does not occur if I upload to NodeJS directly (TCP Retransmission happens too but it doesn't get stuck with dozens of retransmission attempts). My test setup is a simple HTML4 FORM (method POST) with a single file input field. The NodeJS Server only reads the incoming data and does nothing else. I've tested this on multiple machines, networks, browsers, always the same issue. Here's a TCP Traffic Dump from the client while uploading a file: ..... TCP 1506 [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] >> everything is uploading fine until: TCP 1506 [TCP Fast Retransmission] [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] TCP 66 [TCP Dup ACK 7392#1] 63265 > http [ACK] Seq=4844161 Ack=1 Win=524280 Len=0 TSval=657047088 TSecr=79373730 TCP 1506 [TCP Retransmission] [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] >> the last message is repeated about 50 times for >>5-10 secs<< (TX drops to 0 on client, RX drops to 0 on server) TCP 1506 [TCP segment of a reassembled PDU] >> upload continues until the next TCP Fast Retransmission and the same thing happens again The haproxy.conf (haproxy v1.4.18 stable) is the following: global log 127.0.0.1 local1 debug maxconn 4096 # Total Max Connections. This is dependent on ulimit nbproc 2 defaults log global mode http option httplog option tcplog frontend http-in bind *:80 timeout client 6000 acl is_websocket path_beg /node/ use_backend node_backend if is_websocket default_backend app_backend # Rails Server (via nginx+passenger) backend app_backend option httpclose option forwardfor timeout server 30000 timeout connect 4000 server app1 127.0.0.1:3000 # node.js backend node_backend reqrep ^([^\ ]*)\ /node/(.*) \1\ /\2 option httpclose option forwardfor timeout queue 5000 timeout server 6000 timeout connect 5000 server node1 127.0.0.1:3200 weight 1 maxconn 4096 Thanks for reading! :) Simon

  • Inbound SIP calls through Cisco 881 NAT hang up after a few seconds

    - by MasterRoot24
I've recently moved to a Cisco 881 router for my WAN link. I was previously using a Cisco Linksys WAG320N as my modem/router/WiFi AP/NAT firewall. The WAG320N is now running in bridged mode, so it's simply acting as a modem with one of it's LAN ports connected to FE4 WAN on my Cisco 881. The Cisco 881 get's a DHCP provided IP from my ISP. My LAN is part of default Vlan 1 (192.168.1.0/24). General internet connectivity is working great, I've managed to setup static NAT rules for my HTTP/HTTPS/SMTP/etc. services which are running on my LAN. I don't know whether it's worth mentioning that I've opted to use NVI NAT (ip nat enable as opposed to the traditional ip nat outside/ip nat inside) setup. My reason for this is that NVI allows NAT loopback from my LAN to the WAN IP and back in to the necessary server on the LAN. I run an Asterisk 1.8 PBX on my LAN, which connects to a SIP provider on the internet. Both inbound and outbound calls through the old setup (WAG320N providing routing/NAT) worked fine. However, since moving to the Cisco 881, inbound calls drop after around 10 seconds, whereas outbound calls work fine. The following message is logged on my Asterisk PBX: [Dec 9 15:27:45] WARNING[27734]: chan_sip.c:3641 retrans_pkt: Retransmission timeout reached on transmission [email protected] for seqno 1 (Critical Response) -- See https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/SIP+Retransmissions Packet timed out after 6528ms with no response [Dec 9 15:27:45] WARNING[27734]: chan_sip.c:3670 retrans_pkt: Hanging up call [email protected] - no reply to our critical packet (see https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/SIP+Retransmissions). (I know that this is quite a common issue - I've spend the best part of 2 days solid on this, trawling Google.) I've done as I am told and checked https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/SIP+Retransmissions. Referring to the section "Other SIP requests" in the page linked above, I believe that the hangup to be caused by the ACK from my SIP provider not being passed back through NAT to Asterisk on my PBX. I tried to ascertain this by dumping the packets on my WAN interface on the 881. I managed to obtain a PCAP dump of packets in/out of my WAN interface. Here's an example of an ACK being reveived by the router from my provider: 689 21.219999 193.x.x.x 188.x.x.x SIP 502 Request: ACK sip:[email protected] | However a SIP trace on the Asterisk server show's that there are no ACK's received in response to the 200 OK from my PBX: http://pastebin.com/wwHpLPPz In the past, I have been strongly advised to disable any sort of SIP ALGs on routers and/or firewalls and the many posts regarding this issue on the internet seem to support this. However, I believe on Cisco IOS, the config command to disable SIP ALG is no ip nat service sip udp port 5060 however, this doesn't appear to help the situation. To confirm that config setting is set: Router1#show running-config | include sip no ip nat service sip udp port 5060 Another interesting twist: for a short period of time, I tried another provider. Luckily, my trial account with them is still available, so I reverted my Asterisk config back to the revision before I integrated with my current provider. I then dialled in to the DDI associated with the trial trunk and the call didn't get hung up and I didn't get the error above! To me, this points at the provider, however I know, like all providers do, will say "There's no issues with our SIP proxies - it's your firewall." I'm tempted to agree with this, as this issue was not apparent with the old WAG320N router when it was doing the NAT'ing. I'm sure you'll want to see my running-config too: ! ! • HAProxy is caching the forwarding?

    - by shadow_of__soul
i'm trying to set up a server structure for an application i'm building in Node.js with socket.io. My setup is: HAProxy frontend forward to -> apache2 as default backend (or nginx, is apache in this local test) -> node.js app if the url has socket.io in the request AND a domain name i have something like: global log 127.0.0.1 local0 log 127.0.0.1 local1 notice maxconn 4096 user haproxy group haproxy daemon defaults log global mode http maxconn 2000 contimeout 5000 clitimeout 50000 srvtimeout 50000 frontend all 0.0.0.0:80 timeout client 5000 default_backend www_backend acl is_soio url_dom(host) -i socket.io #if the request contains socket.io acl is_chat hdr_dom(host) -i chaturl #if the request comes from chaturl.com use_backend chat_backend if is_chat is_soio backend www_backend balance roundrobin option forwardfor # This sets X-Forwarded-For timeout server 5000 timeout connect 4000 server server1 localhost:6060 weight 1 maxconn 1024 check #forwards to apache2 backend chat_backend balance roundrobin option forwardfor # This sets X-Forwarded-For timeout queue 50000 timeout server 50000 timeout connect 50000 server server1 localhost:5558 weight 1 maxconn 1024 check #forward to node.js app The problem comes when i made a request to something like www.chaturl.com/index.html it load perfectly but fails to loads the socket.io files (www.chaturl.com/socket.io/socket.io.js) why it redirect to apache (and should redirect to the node.js app that serve the files). The weird thing is that if i access directly to the socket.io file, after refreshing a few times, it loads, so i suppose is "caching" the forwarding for the client when it makes the first request and reach the apache server. Any suggestion of how this can be solved? or what i can try or look about this?

  • Is it possible to create a throttle function that can take in as parameters another function (that also has parameters), and the time delay

    - by Stan Quinn
    So I've already written a function that works (based on underscores throttle) for functions that don't take in a parameter, but I'd like to make it generic enough to pass in a function with a variable number of parameters. Here's what I have: (function () { var lastTime = new Date().getTime(); function foo() { var newTime = new Date().getTime(); var gap = newTime - lastTime; // Travels up scope chain to use parents lastTime. Function has access to variables declared in the same scope console.log('foo called, gap:' + gap); lastTime = newTime; // Updates lastTime //console.log(x); //x++; } var throttle = function(func, wait) { var result; var timeout = null; // flag updated through closure var previous = 0; // time last run updated through closure return function() { //func, wait, timeout, previous available through scope var now = new Date().getTime(); var remaining = wait - (now - previous); if (remaining <= 0) { clearTimeout(timeout); timeout = null; previous = now; result = func.apply(this, arguments); //func is available through closure } return result; }; }; document.addEventListener("scroll", throttle(foo, 1000)); //document.addEventListener("scroll", throttle(foo(5), 2000)); }()); But I'd like to modify foo to foo(x) and get this to work (function () { var lastTime = new Date().getTime(); function foo(x) { var newTime = new Date().getTime(); var gap = newTime - lastTime; // Travels up scope chain to use parents lastTime. Function has access to variables declared in the same scope console.log('foo called, gap:' + gap); lastTime = newTime; // Updates lastTime console.log(x); x++; } var throttle = function(func, wait) { var result; var timeout = null; // flag updated through closure var previous = 0; // time last run updated through closure return function() { //func, wait, timeout, previous available through scope var now = new Date().getTime(); var remaining = wait - (now - previous); if (remaining <= 0) { clearTimeout(timeout); timeout = null; previous = now; result = func.apply(this, arguments); //func is available through closure } return result; }; }; document.addEventListener("scroll", throttle(foo(5), 2000)); }());
