• Keeping rotation between two objects

  In my XNA game I have two objects that collide. When the first object collides with the other it is able to latch on to it and move it about the world. I am having a problem with the math here (Math isn't my strong point). I currently have the second object latch on to the first and move around with it, but I cannot get it to keep it's original direction. So, if the object is facing up it should keep this direction relative to how it is being rotated with the original item. Any tips on how I could best to achieve this?

  I am following this tutorial to install Android onto my computer VIA Virtual Box. My problem is, they want you to download liveandroidv0.3.iso.001 liveandroidv0.3.iso.002 then they want you to merge these two files with cat liveandroidv0.3.iso.001 liveandroidv0.3.iso.002 > liveandroidv0.3.iso in the Terminal. The problem is, when I run the command, I get the following output cat liveandroidv0.3.iso.001 liveandroidv0.3.iso.002 > liveandroidv0.3.iso cat: liveandroidv0.3.iso.001: No such file or directory cat: liveandroidv0.3.iso.002: No such file or directory So, I was wondering if there was an alternative way to merge these files? Or if you guy's could help me merge them this way? Extra info: OS: Ubuntu 12.10 I downloaded the files to my /downloads folder in my home directory.

  I have a shell script in which I have to execute two queries (on different databases), spool their results to text files and finally call a c++ program that processes the information on those text files. Something like this: sqlplus user1/pw1@database1 @query1.sql sqlplus user2/pw2@database2 @query2.sql ./process_db_output Both queries take some time to execute. One of them can take up to 10 minutes, while the other one is usually faster. What I want to do is execute them simultaneously and when both are done, call the processing utility. Any suggestion on how to do so?

• KeePass lost password and/or corruption due to Dropbox/KeePassX

  I started using Keepass about a month ago to hold my passwords and online accounts info. Everything was stored in a single .kdb file, only protected with a password. I'm using Windows 7. Now Keepass can't open my .kdb file with the error "Invalid/wrong key". I'm fairly confident I have the right password. Altough I might have mixed up a few letters I've tried about two dozen different combinations to minimize that possibility - but can't rule it out though. My guess is however that the .kdb file got corrupted, either due to Dropbox syncing (only using it on one computer though) or because I edited the file using KeePassX on Ubuntu (dual boot on the same computer, accessing a mounted Win7 NTFS partition), or possibly a combination of both. I have tried restoring older versions(even the original one) from Dropbox and trying out all possible passwords without any luck. (which does seem to rule out KeePassX as the culprit, since oldest copies are before I edited the file from Ubuntu) I have tried opening the file with the "Repair KeePass Database file" which always gives the "0xA Invalid/corrupt file structure" (the same error for when a wrong password is typed). I was wondering if there was any way for me to salvage my hard-gathered data. I know generally that brute force cracking is not feasible, but since I can remember probably more than half of the usernames/passwords, any maybe the fact that one of them does come up fairly often (my go-to pass for trivial stuff), that might simplify the brute force process to a doable time frame. Maybe the brute-force thing might incorporate the fact that I know the password length and what characters it's made from. (If we assume corruption, not a password-blackout on my part) I could do some programming if there are any libraries or routines that I could use. • PHP accessible shared content between two websites on the same VPS on different domains/IPs

  I have two ecommerce websites, selling music digital downloads, on the same VPS, currently using cPanel/WHM (but thinking of switching to Virtualmin). They have separate domains and IPs of course. They both share from the same set of music files, so I have duplicate copies in each website directory, which takes up a lot of disk space. How might I go about sharing the same set of music files across both sites, allowing PHP access, so that it does not break my shopping cart's functionality of serving customers the downloads after they have paid for them? I thought of maybe using symlinks or something, but I don't know if it's possible, or if it would have to somehow circumvent built-in security features of the server. I'm new to VPS management.

F(n) = F(n-1) + F(n-2) + 2G(n-1), and G(n) = G(n-1) + F(n-1) I know how to solve LR model where one function is there.For large N as is the case in the above problem we can do the matrix exponentiation and achieve O(k^3log(N)) time where k is the minimum number such that for all km F(n) does not depend on F(n-k). The method of solving linear recurrence with matrix exponentiation as it is given in that blog. Now for the LR involving two functions can anyone suggest an approach feasible enough for large N.

• Plugging two external screens to laptop via VGA and HDMI

  I have an Asus U30JC laptop with a VGA and HDMI ports. I can connect my external screen (1920x1200) to either of those ports but I wonder if I would be able to use two screens at the same time, one plugged to the VGA and the other to the HDMI socket. Any ideas? Where should I find out?   I have several user groups on my website, like: Site Staff Departments -- History department -- Physics department -- Foreign languages department -- IT department etc I also have several categories, like: News About ... Departments -- History department -- Physics department -- Foreign languages department -- IT department etc Users in Site Staff group can edit entire site, except for Departments categories (I've set Deny permission for it). Each Department user group can edit only its corresponding category. I have successfully implemented all this. The question is: If a user belongs to two groups (Site Staff and Physics department - for instance) - he should be able to edit the whole site, except for Departments category. And also he should be able to edit Physics department category - this is what I cannot implement. Can you suggest any ideas?

• Encrypting peer-to-peer application with iptables and stunnel

  I'm running legacy applications in which I do not have access to the source code. These components talk to each other using plaintext on a particular port. I would like to be able to secure the communications between the two or more nodes using something like stunnel to facilitate peer-to-peer communication rather than using a more traditional (and centralized) VPN package like OpenVPN, etc. Ideally, the traffic flow would go like this: app@hostA:1234 tries to open a TCP connection to app@hostB:1234. iptables captures and redirects the traffic on port 1234 to stunnel running on hostA at port 5678. stunnel@hostA negotiates and establishes a connection with stunnel@hostB:4567. stunnel@hostB forwards any decrypted traffic to app@hostB:1234. In essence, I'm trying to set this up to where any outbound traffic (generated on the local machine) to port N forwards through stunnel to port N+1, and the receiving side receives on port N+1, decrypts, and forwards to the local application at port N. I'm not particularly concerned about losing the hostA origin IP address/machine identity when stunnel@hostB forwards to app@hostB because the communications payload contains identifying information. The other trick in this is that normally with stunnel you have a client/server architecture. But this application is much more P2P because nodes can come and go dynamically and hard-coding some kind of "connection = hostN:port" in the stunnel configuration won't work.

  I am in need of a real time, two way synchronization software for Centos 5.5 / 64Bit. Here's little explanation: It needs to be able to perform: Two way synchronization. It must be realtime. By realtime means it can be almost realtime, i.e. a delay of 1 second for example is fine. And the folders are on the same server. I am currently using GlusterFS across two webservers. However, it has extremely poor small file read performance and it's slowing down my website. There's nothing more that can be done to improve this, I have already tested many configurations. As a solution, I was going to mount a RAM drive (tmpfs) that mirrors the GlusterFS web files but get the webserver to use the RAM drive. The issue is that I need two way realtime mirroring or replication between glusterfs and the RAM drive. I need this is as Apache writes files as wells. As I said, realtime two way synchronization across two folders. Which are in fact 2 different mounts points. The RAM (tmpfs) mount poing and the GlusterFS mount point. I already know about: Rsync - Which is one way Unison - Which is not realtime Please suggest me any solution free or paid. Thanks in advance

• How can I automatically synchronize a directory tree on multiple machines?

  I have two Mac laptops and a Debian server, each with a directory that I would like to keep in sync between the three. The solution should meet the following criteria (in rough order of importance): It must not use any third-party service (e.g. Dropbox, SugarSync, Google whatever). This does not include installing additional software (as long as it's free). It must not require me to use specific directories or change my way of storing things. (Dropbox does this IIRC) It must work in all directions (changes made on /any/ machine should be pushed to the others) All data sent must be encrypted (I have ssh keypairs set up already) It must work even when not all machines are available (changes should be pushed to a machine when it comes back online) It must work even when the /directories/ on some machines are not available (they may be stored on disk images which will not always be mounted) This can be solved for Macs by using launchd to automatically launch and kill (or in some way change the behavior of) whatever daemon is used for syncing when the images are mounted and unmounted. It must be immediate (using an event-based system, not a periodic one like cron) It must be flexible (if more machines are added, I should be able to incorporate them easily) I also have some preferences that I would like to be fulfilled, but do not have to be: It should notify me somehow if there are conflicts or other errors. It should recognize symbolic and hard links and create corresponding ones. It should allow me to create a list of exceptions (subdirectories which will not be synced at all). It should not require me to set up port forwarding or otherwise reconfigure a network. This can be solved by using an ssh tunnel with reverse port forwarding. If you have a solution that meets some, but not all of the criteria, please contribute it in the comments as it might be useful in some way, and it might be possible to meet some of the criteria separately. What I tried, and why it didn't work: rsync and lsyncd do not support bidirectional synchronization csync2 is designed for server clusters and does not appear to work with machines with dynamic IPs DRBD (suggested by amotzg) involves installing a kernel module and does not appear to work on systems running OS X

• Restoring two finger middle click again

  it used to be that tapping two fingers on the touchpad send a middle mouse click. Now it does a right click and three fingers now are the middle click. I really can't understand the change and think it is a bug or badly copied from Apple or something. The reasoning escapes me totally. I use middle click to open links in a new tab in the browser all day and I rarely use right click (and I have a right mouse button below the touchpad, doh) Tapping three fingers on my tiny EeePC touchpad is next to impossible so I want the old behavior. I found: synclient TapButtons2=2 synclient TapButtons3=3 but that did not work on 10.10 Does anyone know how to restore sane behavior?

  I want to double click a file on my desktop, and have two files be opened in gedit as sudo. Whenever I'm making a new website, I need to open /etc/hosts /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default.conf as sudo. At the moment this means opening the terminal, runing sudo gedit then opening each file manually. I want to streamline this part of my workflow. On windows I had wrote a little bash script which worked nicely. How can I do the same in ubuntu? So far in my searches I've come across ways of adding a shortcut to the file browser, and similar things, but not exactly what I want. I have tried creating a desktop launcher, but can't see how to make it run as sudo.

  Let's see if someone can help me with two mini-bugs I have: Sometimes, when I close the laptop and later open it, the touchpad stops working properly. Most times it only acts fuzzy a few seconds and then starts working fine, but other times it stops working completely (I can't move the mouse arrow, althougt clicking buttons work fine) until I restart. Whenever I turn on the computer, some keys excange with others (" becomes @, ? becomes _, ¿ becomes +, etc), and I have to go to Keyboard input and add and delete some language (I use Afgan because it's the first) Thanks.

  I have searched all over the web but cannot find a complete answer to this: How to enable Bitlocker on a laptop with TPM, and store a file with the Bitlocker recovery key and TPM password by USING THE manage-bde command line tool. The file should be the same as when created in the Bitlocker manager UI. I DO NOT want to save to AD. The same question was asked here but was not answered correctly. The goal is to write a script to be used with an endpoint manager. I have tried the following: manage-bde -on C: Works fine, but does not create or save a key. manage-bde -on C: -rk C:\myfolder\ and manage-bde -on C: -RecoveryKey C:\myfolder\ -rp The output from the last two methods state that a key has been saved to c:\myfolder and so on, but that is not the case. It also says that I have to: Save the password in a secure location Insert a USB flash drive with an external key file into the computer. Restart and run hardware test type "manage-bde -status" to check if the hardware test succeeded After a restart, I get an error saying that Bitlocker could not be enabled because the bitlocker startup key or recovery kpassword cannot be found on the USB device.... C: was not encrypted. Why am I asked to insert a USB?? I simply want to encrypt the hard drive and save the recovery information to a file automatically. Is that too much to ask? Help please!

There are some applications that are installed on one but not on the other and vice versa. But they share a large many applications. Please indicate how can I upgrade both in such a way that: I download all the packages required on Computer 1 Move the downloaded packages to the other computer using external HD (that is much quicker than over WIFI) Then upgrade Computer 1 Then upgrade Computer 2 -- after it downloads any packages that are not already available. Also, I am a newbie and would be grateful if the process is simple and properly explained.

• Ubuntu 12.04 wallpaper problem when using two monitors

  I am using two monitors, the main resolution is 1920x1080 and the secondary is 1440x900. Everything seems to work fine (with default drivers, fglrx crashes bad), besides windows opening in the wrong monitor (even when the main is set correctly), but now what I am trying to fix is the wallpaper problem, here's an image to explain it easier: http://i.imgur.com/msLRR.jpg It also happens with gradients. The secondary monitor is physically aligned like in the image, lower than the other, the wallpaper on the main screen seems to keep the size of the lower resolution, and then it start at the correct resolution the last part at right. Any way to fix this? I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome-Shell 3.4.1, the vga is a Radeon HD 6950 UPDATE I went to gnome-tweak-tool and disabled "Have file manager handle the desktop", now it looks ok on both monitors, but I can't have icons on my desktop, so I am still interested in solving it. UPDATE2 Disabling "Have file manager handle the desktop", in gnome-tweak-tool and then re-enabling it seems to work, but has to be done every time you turn on the PC.

• Two problems, both with either lock or suspend.

  I recently did two things that may be the cause of either of them. 1) I started using a second screen 2) I installed xscreensaver instead of the stock, power saving option. My first question is about suspend: every time I wake from suspend, networking is disabled. While I've seen multiple posts about that on here, it didn't start happening until recently. Second, lock seems to be disabled now. Are both of these problems a bug, or was this caused by the second screen or maybe xscreensaver?
