  I have two ASP-specific SQL Server databases 1) ASPState - To store session state 2) ASPNETDB - To store Security/Role stuff. In my web.config, I am specifying the connection string used to identify the location of the APState database: <sessionState mode="SQLServer" sqlConnectionString="server=(local)\sql2008b;uid=sa;pwd=iainttelling;" timeout="120"/> Where is the conenction string specified for the ASPNETDB database? I am trying to point it to a db on a remote server. I have a feeling it is somewhere in IIS orthe Machine Config. I'd like to add it to my WEB.CONFIG Could someone help me to do this?

• BAD_UID error while exporting key in CryptoAPI

  Hi all, I am writing a test application for Microsoft CryptoAPI. I want to export the secret key of one party using the public key of the second party, and then import that secret key as the second party's secret key (this sets up a shared secret key for communication). In this I am storing the friends of a user in the form of CSV as shown below in the user table uid user_name friends 1 John 2 2 Jack 3,1 3 Gary 2,4 4 Joey 3 In the above scenario if the logged in user is John and if he visits the profile page of Joey, the connection between them should appear as John-Jack-Gary-Joey I am able to establish the connection at level 1 i.e If Jack visits Joey's profile I am able to establish the following : Jack-Gary-Joey But for the 2nd level I need to get into the same routine of for loops which I know is not the right solution + I am not able to implement that as well. • Connect rails application to SQL Server 2005 from Windows

  Hi guys. I (sadly) have to deploy a rails application on Windows XP which has to connect to Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Surfing in the web there are a lot of hits for connect from Linux to SQL Server, but cannot find out how to do it from Windows. Basically I followed these steps: Install dbi gem Install activerecord-sql-server-adapter gem My database.yml now looks like this: development: adapter: sqlserver mode: odbc dsn: test_dj host: HOSTNAME\SQLEXPRESS database: test_dj username: guest password: guest But I'm unable to connect it. When I run rake db:migrate I get IM002 (0) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I'm not a Windows user, so cannot understand really well the meaning of dsn element or so. Does someone have an idea how to solve this?   I have a simple little code fragment that is frustrating me: HashSet<long> groupUIDs = new HashSet<long>(); groupUIDs.Add(uid)? unique++ : dupes++; At compile time, it generates the error: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement HashSet.Add is documented to return a bool, so the ternary (?) operator should work, and this looks like a completely legitimate way to track the number of unique and duplicate items I add to a hash-set. When I reformat it as a if-then-else, it works fine. Can anyone explain the error, and if there is a way to do this as a simple ternary operator?

  In this question I asked how to POST to a php file form a vb.net app: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2615335/post-to-webpage-in-vb-net-win-forms-desktop-not-asp-net So now I've logged in the user user by posting their username and password to the php file, the php file then does security/checks they exist/etc and if both username and password are correct is stores the user ID in a session variable. Now if the vb.net app tries to download data off a page which needs the user to logged in, it checks this by doing: if (!isset($_SESSION['uid'])) { header("Location: index.php"); } However after having logged correctly in the app the session variable is not set. How does session work with a vb.net app like this? When the user logs in successfully should I download the user id and keep it in the vb.net app and then post it to each page that requires authentication?

  I'm using the JavaScript method to sync/login (with the popup) with Facebook Connect on my site, it seems to work. However, after I get logged in, I want to continue in backend, with the PHP library. I see the cookies are set by the JavaScript lib, but I don't know how to use them with the PHP api. I used $fb = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $uid = $fb->get_loggedin_user(); but not user data is getting passed. How can I get the user data in PHP after I logged in in frontend? As far as I'm concerned, I would have gone PHP all the way, but I didn't manage to make the auth work, meaning that in never redirected me back to my site :). Thanks!

  Hello, I am getting an error I do not understand. I am using File:Find to recurse a fylesystem on Windows using Activestate Perl 5.8.8 and trying to stat $File::Find::name; so I am not stat-ing a filename got from a text file scanning requiring chomp-ing or newline removing. I was unable to get file modification time, the mtime in: my ($dev,$ino,$mode,$nlink,$uid,$gid,$rdev,$size,$atime,$mtime,$ctime,$blksize,$blocks) = stat($File::Find::name); so trying a -s $File::Find::name gives me the error: Unsuccessful stat on filename containing newline A typical file name found is F01-01-10 Num 0-00000.pdf but I get the same error even renaming in E02.pdf

• Strategies to use Database Sequences?

  Hello all, I have a high-end architecture which receives many requests every second (in fact, it can receive many requests every millisecond). The architecture is designed so that some controls rely on a certain unique id assigned to each request. To create such UID we use a DB2 Sequence. Right now I already understand that this approach is flawed, since using the database is costly, but it makes sense to do so because this value will also be used to log information on the database. My team has just found out an increase of almost 1000% in elapsed time for each transaction, which we are assuming happened because of the sequence. Now I wonder, using sequences will serialize access to my application? Since they have to guarantee that increments works the way they should, they have to, right? So, are there better strategies when using sequences? Please assume that I have no other way of obtaining a unique id other than relying on the database.

  I've been tinkering with a regex answer by yukondude with little success. I'm trying to kill processes that are older than 10 minutes. I already know what the process IDs are. I'm looping over an array every 10 min to see if any lingering procs are around and need to be killed. Anybody have any quick thoughts on this?
