• Does this popup view violate HIGS?

  Will using a popup view to present a comment submission form violate the HIGS? I may have one popup with selections that goes to the final popup. Two popups back to back. This is more similar to a modal type of view than an alert or action sheet as described by the HIGS: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/ModalViews/ModalViews.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40006556-CH11-SW1 under the section 'Using Modal Views'. Basically the type of view I'm shooting for is a combination of an alert with a custom view. It's sort of a mini view since it will be centered in the middle of the screen but not take up all of the viewing area. I'm fairly sure that is a violation however, but I'm looking for a few opinions on it. I believe what needs to happen is use a modal view, which will cover the entire view.

• How do you leave comments/like a specific page of a Facebook Canvas app?

  I'm building a tabbed Facebook Canvas app that requires individual images to be "Like"d and commented on. Since each image is loaded up as its own page, in this style: http://apps.facebook.com/appname/image/333/ (which translates to: www.mydomain.com/image/333/) I was hoping I could just get a UID for each "image" page and then comment/like based off that. If that's possible, how exactly do I get the id for dynamically generated pages? Or any page for that matter? Thanks in advance.

• Apache setting mod_auth_ldap require settings per sub-directory

  I would like to set up a primary directory that has one set of LDAP-based restrictions and then have various sub-directories use other restrictions, but only have the actual LDAP search done in the base directory. For example: .htaccess per directory /Primary_Directory AuthLDAPURL "ldap://ldap1.airius.com:389/ou=People, o=Airius?uid?sub?(objectClass=*)" Require group cn=admins ../Open2All Require valid-user ../No_Admins_Allowed Require group cn!=admins So basically, the primary directory (in this example) can only be accessed by users who are in the admins group, while the first sub-directory can be accessed by anyone in the directory, and the second sub-folder can be reached by anyone who is NOT in the admin-group. But I only want to set the Require line for the sub-directories, and not re-setup the LDAP query on each sub-directory. Is this possible, even though there are clear permissions conflicts from level to level? Does the deepest .htaccess file know that the Require line refers to the LDAP search in the parent folder?

• Simplest way to extend doctrine for MVC Models

  Im developing my own framework that uses namespaces. Doctrine is already integrated into my auto loading system and im now at the stage where ill be creating the model system for my application Usually i would create a simple model like so: namespace Application\Models; class Users extends \Framework\Models\Database{} which would inherit all the default database model methods, But with Doctrine im still learning how it all works, as its not just a simple DBAL. I need to understand whats the part of doctrine my classes would extend where i can do the following: namespace Application\Models; class Users Extends Doctrine\Something\Table { public $__table_name = "users"; } And thus within the controller i would be able to do the following: public function Display($uid) { $User = $this->Model->Users->findOne(array("id" => (int)$id)); } Anyone help me get my head around this ?

• Show facebook status stream of a dedicated person on a website

  Hi all, I've been stomping at this all day :( I want to display a status feed of both twitter and facebook on my website. For twitter, this is not a problem, as my account is public, I can easily get the feed. Facebook however, is a whole different story! I can't seem to find an easy way to just get my last status updates and display it on my website. The code I currently have, needs authentication of the visitor, and I don't want that! This is my current code: $facebook = new Facebook($api_key, $secret); $stream = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT message,source,time FROM status WHERE uid = $user_id LIMIT 6"); I've seen several possible solutions, including the RSS feed, but as Facebook keeps changing the way their site works, none of the previous methods I've seen (including those from as late as januari) currently work! Is there anybody who can provide me with a currently working solution to this (simple?) problem?

• Help! Obj-C/Iphone programming: extracting string from html text and reading off line by line

  hihi, I have this html text response from a particular website: <tr><td valign="top"><img src="/icons/image2.gif" alt="[IMG]"></td><td><a href="crsdsdfs2221.jpg">crash-2221.jpg</a></td><td align="right">14-Jun-2010 14:29 Notice for every line, there is this href=".__", which is an image file with random name and random format. I would like to extract that string within the inverted commas out so that i can append it into a URL path and download the image. I've been looking through this documentation from apple: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/conceptual/strings/Articles/SearchingStrings.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000149-CJBBGBAI on String programming but couldn't find one that fits my bill. Also after reading it, what code can I use to ensure that I will be reading the next line the next time my function is called( because I want to download the next picture). Hope some kind soul can help me out, thanks!

I have followed all the steps given in http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/SearchManager.html I am getting the following exception 04-16 12:49:26.917: ERROR/DatabaseUtils(102): java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: reading com.android.providers.telephony.MmsSmsProvider uri content://mms-sms/search_suggest_query/m?limit=58 from pid=106, uid=10000 requires android.permission.READ_SMS I have set permission in MmsSmsProvider.java file for read, write sms and global search, but still I get this error. • Is INT the correct datatype for ABS(CHECKSUM(NEWID()))?

  I'm in the process of creating unique customers ID's that is an alternative Id for external use. In the process of adding a new column "cust_uid" with datatype INT for my unique ID's, When I do an INSERT into this new column: Insert Into Customers(cust_uid) Select ABS(CHECKSUM(NEWID())) I get a error: Could not create an acceptable cursor. OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "SHQ2IIS1" returned message "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. I've check all data types on both tables and the only things that has changed is the new column in both tables. The update is being done on one Big @$$ table...and for reasons above my pay grade, we would like to have new uid's that are different form the one's that we currently have "so users don't know how many accounts we actually have." Is INT the correct datatype for ABS(CHECKSUM(NEWID())) ?

I want to rename the column of table at sql server 2005, following query I have run at sql server2005: 1) ALTER TABLE Details RENAME COLUMN AccountID TO UID; but it gives me the error: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'COLUMN'. 2)I have added one new column in the table by query: ALTER TABLE Details ADD BID uniqueidentifier; and then I want to set the coulmn property to not null .   I have a simple little code fragment that is frustrating me: HashSet<long> groupUIDs = new HashSet<long>(); groupUIDs.Add(uid)? unique++ : dupes++; At compile time, it generates the error: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement HashSet.Add is documented to return a bool, so the ternary (?) operator should work, and this looks like a completely legitimate way to track the number of unique and duplicate items I add to a hash-set. When I reformat it as a if-then-else, it works fine. Can anyone explain the error, and if there is a way to do this as a simple ternary operator?

  I have a complex query that gets executed like this: if ($stmt = $dbi->prepare($pt_query)) { $stmt->bind_param('ssssssssi', $snome,$scognome,$ssocieta,$svia,$slocalita,$sprovincia,$scap,$stelefono,$sfax,$uid); $stmt->execute(); echo $dbi->error; $stmt->close(); } else { printf("Error -> %s\n", $dbi->error); } This thing is failing without any error, it simply doesn't update the database. Since there is a ton of data that gets treated before this thing I would like to know if there is any way to show the actual query that mysqli is executing in order to understand where the problem is.   Hey, I got a user table containing 15+ million records and while doing the registration function i wish to check whether the username already exist. I did indexing for username column and when i run the query "select count(uid) from users where username='webdev'" ,. hmmm, its keep on loading blank screen finally hanged up. I'm doing this in my localhost with php 5 & mysql 5. So suggest me some technique to handle this situation. Is that mongodb is good alternative for handling this process in our local machine? • Open another application from your own (intent)

  I know how to update my own programs, and I know how to open programs using the a predefined Uri (for sms or email for example) I need to know how I can create an Intent to open MyTracks or any other application that I don't know what intents they listen to. I got this info from DDMS, but I havn't been succesful in turning this to an Intent I can use. This is taken from when opening MyTracks manually. • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

  My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it? • NSTableView doesn't populate with array objects until a new object is added via the controller

However, if I bind a button to the array controller's add: input and click it during runtime (this adds a new object to the array and table) then the table will show the new object first, with the objects added during applicationDidFinishLaunching following it. Why does this happen? And is there a way to make my table populate without having to add an element first?

• Xcode OpenGL Build Error (header file not found)

  When building my Objective-C project (for Mac OS 10.9, Xcode 5.11), I get the error message Lexical or Preprocessor Issue 'OpenGL/OpenGL.h' file not found. The error is caused by the include section of the file CVDisplayLink.h where the above named file is included. CVDisplayLink.h belongs to the framework CoreVideo. Now there are two strange points related to that issue: The error appeared after I tried to test some basic OpenGL features using the tutorial in the Mac Developer Library ( https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Conceptual/OpenGL-MacProgGuide/opengl_drawing/opengl_drawing.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001987-CH404-SW8 ). I added an NSOpenGLView to my MainMenu as well as the related code given in the tutorial. Then the error message appeared. I also tried to add the OpenGL and CoreVideo frameworks to my project target, but this did not help. After some frustration, I removed the NSOpenGLView from my project, as well as all related code. Now the error Message still appeares and I have no Idea how to ged rid of it.

• Facebook Connect in iPhone app: Able to have two sessions?

  Does anyone know if you are able to have two sessions save in one iphone app? I don't mean two sessions active. I want to be able to let someone switch between facebook accounts in my app without having to logout and back in. To my understanding a sessions state is saved in user preferences and is resumed when you basically say [ session resume ]. What I'm wondering is if I can choose which session to resume based on the uid? If so then I can choose which session to resume. Thanks to all that reply.

• Problem with CFNetRegister

  I'm trying to work with CFNetServices by trying to start up and publish a service asynchronously. I'm trying to use the example code from here: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Networking/Conceptual/NSNetServiceProgGuide/Articles/CFNetServices.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/30001276-SW3, but CFNetRegisterWithOptions always fails. (CFNetRegister is deprecated now). When I print out the error struct, it looks like this: (gdb) p error $1 = { domain = 10, error = -72004 } Which doesn't seem correct to me. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks!

However, with the vast majority of ratings on the site at 3/5 and the ratings very even across 1-5 we're beginning to suspect that search engine crawlers etc. are getting through. The urls used look like this: http://www.thesite.com/path/to/the/page/rate?uid=abcdefghijk&value=3 When we started we add the following to our robots.txt: User-agent: * Disallow: /rate Is this incorrect or are googlebot and others simply ignoring our robots.txt?
