• jQuery Audio Player

  I was given 2 MP3 files, one that is 4.5Mb and one that is 5.6Mb. I was instructed to have them play on a website i am managing. I have found a nice, clean looking CSS based jQuery audio player. My question is, is this the right solution for files that big? I am not sure if the player preloads the file, or streams it ? (if that is the correct terminology) i dont deal much with audio players and such... this player is from happyworm.com/jquery/jplayer/latest/demo-01.htm is there another approach i shoudl take to get this to play properly? I dont want it to have to buffer, and the visitor to wait, or slow page loading...etc..etc.. i want it to play clean and not affect the visitors session to the site. thanks

• Complex select query question for hardcore SQL designers

  Very complex query been trying to construct it for few days with more real success. I'm using SQL-SERVER 2005 Standard What i need is : 5 CampaignVariants from Campaigns whereas 2 are with the largest PPU number set and 3 are random. Next condition is that CampaignDailyBudget and CampaignTotalBudget are below what is set in Campaign ( calculation is number of clicks in Visitors table connected to Campaigns via CampaignVariants on which users click) Next condition CampaignLanguage, CampaignCategory, CampaignRegion and CampaignCountry must be the ones i send to this select with (languageID,categoryID,regionID and countryID). Next condition is that IP address i send to this select statement won't be in IPs list for current Campaign ( i delete inactive for 24 hours IPs ). In other words it gets 5 CampaignVariants for user that enters the site, when i take from user PublisherRegionUID,IP,Language,Country and Region view diagram

• User upload file above web root with php

  I have a website where local bands can have a profile page, I'm implementing an upload system so that they can add songs to their profile. I want to make sure that clever visitors to my website cannot download their songs. I was thinking about uploading them to above the folder for my domain so that they cannot be accessed directly. Is this a good idea and/or possible? If not, what do you suggest I do to try and avoid users downloading songs. I'm already using a flash player to try and prevent downloads.

• overwrite a file which is already used by another process

  I have a web site and i am showing videos to visitors, at the admin side i am filling the form of video and upload video file and sometimes i need to change(update) the video so i update the video by uploading another one, when i create the video in the first time i concatenate a datetime variable with the video name to avoid repeatition(file already exist) and when updatting the video the problem appears.... as if i upload the new video with the previous name so it will replace the previous one and in this case if the video is used by another process it will fail and the second option(which i am already using) is to upload a new video and concatenating new datetime variable with video title, so the previous and the new video will exist in the same directory and in this case i will lose too much space in my server directory as i have unused videos which takes space which in future will cause problem to me in the disk space so how can i solve this problem ? • Web app - Biometric system connection

  Hi, I will be developing an application for a club where they will have visitors use biometric systems(finger print) or magnetic cards to mark their attendance. This application is planned as a web app, made using PHP/MySQL/Javascript. It does a lot of other things as well. What I wanted to find out is how is the interface between Biometric/Megnetic Card systems to a web app done? I've never worked on this and am hoping if someone who has experience with this can throw some light on this as to how this could be accomplished. Any pointers will be appreciated. (I'm afraid there's got to be some form of application installed on a pc that would interface with the hardware and probably makes calls to the web app. But, if there was a way to connect it to the web app directly, then the app would be easy to deploy to any location with minimal installation.)   Hi all I have a website running on a IIS 7.5 server with ASP.NET 4.0 on a shared host, but in full trust. The site is a basic "file browser" that allows the visitors to login and have a list of files available to them displayed, and, obviously, download the files. The static files (mostly pdf files) are located in a sub folder on the site called data, e.g. http://example.com/data/... The site uses ASP.NET form authentication. My question is: How do I get the ASP.NET engine to handle the requests for the static files in the data folder, so that request for files are authenticated by ASP.NET, and users are not able to deep link to a file and grab files they are not allowed to have?   I hope someone can help. I have been looking into trying to stream movies into my client's site. They are videos about 1 hour long and for web in .flv or .m4v are about 320 megs. We need to get these videos off our server while providing our visitors a way to scrub through the video. I know Limelight does it, but their min plan is $1,000 a month. This is overkill for our needs. Someone told me to go with CacheFly, but they don't support true streaming. SimpleCDN seems to be sold out at the moment. Please help!

• How to configure XMPP to allow all logged in user to see each other and chat with each other?

  Hello guys, I am new to XMPP. I am using Openfire server, and created a console client using Smack library. My usecase: All users anonymous, logged in (In future, website visitors) will be able to see other anonymous, logged-in users. And they can initiate a private chat (one-to-one) with any of them. So, I am able to logged in as Anonymous user, but I am not able to see other Anon / Logged in users (using Roster), because they are not in anon user's roster. So, What should be configuration OR custom=component/code to to achieve this usecase? Do I need to create server component? Any hint? OR It can be done using proper configuration? Cheers

The problem is that I don't know how to find the players, and how many players I need to get a profit. I`m planning to use BuySellAds and Google Adsense. I think the game is pretty good, but I think I will have just a little amount of unique visitors, because each player is counted as unique only once. So what do you think, it will worth ?

• Google analytics-style custom report builder UI

  I'm looking for a reporting engine/UI that can be integrated into a product, which has a UI along the lines of Google Analytics' Custom Reports builder. Is anyone aware of such a thing? The data is in our case is not page views/visitors/etc, but is similar in nature, in that there are limited entities or types of data, but each entity has many attributes/columns and many different ways of aggregating data (or in GA-style speak, metrics and dimensions). The analytics-style UI is very intuitive and allows many reports to be created in powerful ways, without having to know SQL. I have preference for a web-based tool (seeing that it is 2010 and this is a web app -- I mention only because it seems the vast majority of reporting tools still have only a non-web-based creation tool).

• Cakephp with OpenID and User Authentication

  I have a table "users" and I want to enable my visitors to login with their openID Account. For this I use the OpenId Component for Cakephp and it works fine (When I login with the Google URL I receive the "successfully authenticated!" notification). But now I'm kind of stuck because I don't know how to go on from there. Do I have to create a User-Entry for every user which has a new entry in the "oid_associations" table (I save all OpenId interaction in the mysql database)? Do I have to authenticate the User after the login (or is the OpenID-component doing that automatically?). Am I completely misunderstanding the concept?

  I love microsoft development products! I hate microsoft browsers... I have made the decision to cut ties with internet explorer until they add support for some common W3 approved items. Namely 'multiple' in forms as well as about 5 other things... and as such I would like to urge my visitors to use a better browser. is there a way to setup an http handler or perhaps something in the asax file to route all ie users to a custom page?   Hi All. I recently coded and launched a website that displays consistently across Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE8, IE7, and Safari. According to site visitors, though, the signup forms at the top and bottom of the site are mangled on the iPhone. I do not own an iPhone and I rarely test sites on the iPhone, and I would really hate to purchase it or an iPod Touch for the sake of occasional CSS/display testing. Question: is there a site online or a program I can use (I'm on Windows 7) for iPhone testing? An alternative question might be why the signup forms aren't displaying properly on the iPhone, when they look fine in all other browsers and a few other mobile devices that I've used? Many thanks.

• What would be a good way to scale images in c#

  I got a website which contains alot of projects with each project containing a sidebar. In this sidebar it is possible to attach images to a project. The images attached will be shown in a gallery with 3 small thumbs at the bottom and one bigger image at the top of the gallery. The big image will refresh to another image when a visitor clicks on the small thumb @ the bottom of the gallery. The thumbs are no problem, they are shown correctly. My problem is the bigger image at the top of the gallery. The images that get uploaded have a big variety of sizes, while my holder has a width of 239 and height of 179. What would be the best way to scale the images so that they are shwon correctly to the visitors of the website?

• Website redirect during maintenece but still with testing acces

  I have an online store that i have recently re-written most of and would like to upload it to my server. While the maintenance is taking place, i would like to redirect all visitors to an "under construction" page. (easily done with php or apache htacess etc...) The issue is that I would like to test everything when i upload it so i still need access while blocking everyone else. Add a related_name argument to the definition for 'visitor'. what would be a sensible 'related_field' to use on visitor field? This model basically represents the visits that take place to a particular user's profile. Also should I replace any of the ForeignKey's with a ManyToManyField? The logic is a bit confusing. • PHP: $_POST array to XML file and display results.

  I'm creating a "Madlibs" page where visitors can create funny story things online. The original files are in XML format with the blanks enclosed in XML tags (Such as blablabla <PluralNoun></PluralNoun> blablabla <Verb></Verb> ). The form data is created using XSL and the results are saved using a $_POST array. How do I post the $_POST array between the matching XML tags and then display the result to the page? I'm sure it uses a "foreach" statement, but I'm just not familiar enough with PHP to figure out what functions to use. Any help would be great. Thanks, E
