• GWT i18n - Plural Forms doesn't work at all?

  I'm using GWT internationalization Messages. The documentation for Plural Forms says this should work: @DefaultMessage("{0} {1,number} hours {2}") @PluralText({"one", "an hour"}) String hours(String prefix, @PluralCount int count, String suffix); Well, it doesn't. Whatever value of count it still delivers DefaultMessage (e.g. "1 hours ago"). Same if I use a .properties file: hours[one]=an hour hours[few]=some hours hours={0} {1,number} hours {2} Is there a bug in the docs or in GWT (I'm using GWT 2.0.3) or in me? If any of the two former, anyone knows of a workaround?

• Margin animate problem with Monitor display settings

  I have an issue with an animation on a webpage. I have this div with text inside of it that I set the margin using css and when the page is loaded I use jquery to animate the div to a certain part of the page. The problem is it works with my concrete pixel settings, but if I change the properties of the monitor display settings in screen resolution(pixels), the div does not animate to the appropriate spot and it doesn't even start off at the appropriate spot from the css. Sample code: #div{ position:absolute; top:20px; left:50px } $("#div").animate({marginLeft: "250px"},2000); Is there a way to have the settings of the animation margin end at the approriate position no matter what the screen resolution is?

• Internationalize HelloWorld program .NET

  I have small test app which has 2 resource files (Resources.resx & Resources.de-DE.resx) with the same exact string names, but one has the strings converted to German. For my form I set the Localize property to ture. In my application I am getting the strings as such: this.Text = Properties.Resources.frmCaption; In my release folder I get a de-DE folder with a dll named International_test.resources.dll. I try to distribute this to a machine which is set to German and all of the strings pulled are still english. I tried keeping the International_test.resources.dll in the de-DE folder or just put in in my apps directory. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to get the German resource file to be used?

  I have AdventureWorks database mdf file in my VS 2010 project. Is there anyway I can create Membership tables inside my AdventureWorks database. I know I can detach the database attach in SQL SERVER 2008. Create the tables and then detach. But I don't have SQL SERVER 2008 and I want to see if this can be done using command line tool. I tried this but no use: aspnet_regsql.exe -d AdventureWorks.mdf -A mr -E -S .\SQLEXPRESS Update: If I right click and see the properties of the AdventureWorks.mdf database then it shows the name as "C4BE6C8DA139A060D14925377A7E63D0_64A_10\ADVENTUREWORKSWEBFORMS\ADVENTUREWORKSWEBFORMS\ADVENTUREWORKS\APP_DATA\ADVENTUREWORKS.MDF" This is interesting!

• Python Vector Class

  I'm coming from a C# background where this stuff is super easy—trying to translate into Python for Maya. There's gotta' be a better way to do this. Basically, I'm looking to create a Vector class that will simply have x, y and z coordinates, but it would be ideal if this class returned a tuple with all 3 coordinates and if you could edit the values of this tuple through x, y and z properties, somehow. This is what I have so far, but there must be a better way to do this than using an exec statement, right?   I am still fairly new to C# and I am trying to decide the best way to structure a new program. Here is what I want to do and I would like feed back on my idea. Presentation Layer Business Layer (Separate Class Library) Data Layer (Separate Class Library) Model Layer (Separate Class Library) What I am struggling with is if it is ok to have the classes in the Data Layer and Business Layer inherit from the types I define in Model Layer. This way I can extended the types as needed in my Business Layer with any new properties I see fit. I might not use every property from the Model type in my Business Layer class but is that really a big deal? If this isn't clear enough I can try and put together an example.

• how to set the background image property of a div to a dynamically generated image

  I have some divs and each one has its own background image. The base images as stored is just a black silhouette. What I would like to do is use the PHP GD package to modify the color of those images somewhat randomly and have the modified randomly coloured images be the background images of the divs. One way to do it is just create GD images structures from the original files, modify them, save the results as a temp file, pass this filename into the client, and then use jquery to modify the css background image properties of the divs to be the new file. But this is going to leave a lot of files laying around to garbage collect. Is there some way to do it without creating a bunch of files?

• RichTextBox doesn't update caret position correctly

  I have a handler consuming the keyDown event of a WinForms RTB, that has the following code: GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects some text at the caret's position RTB->SelectedText = "SomeOfMyOwn"; GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects the replacement string RTB->SelectionStart += RTB->SelectionLength - 1; While this code seems to do its job (SelectionStart/Length properties are updated correctly), the caret doesn't move to the end of the new string - It says right where it was at the time of GetTextAtLoc's first call. Redrawing the textbox does seem to have any effect either.

  I am attempting to use the WindsorContainer, but I need to turn off Property Injection for the entire container. • dotnetnuke iis 6 problem

  i went to the root dir of my website in iis 6. right clicked properties and went the documents tab. i wanted to add a document extension to the list. when i clicked apply i received an inheritance override (UNCPassword and DefaultDoc) pop up showing many dnn files. i clicked cancel in both pop ups and then okay to apply the new document extension. now all my pages only pull up the home page information in dotnetnuke. the url changes in the address bar but only home page information is displayed. what could i have done to break dotnetnuke? are there some inheritance parameters needed? if so can i revert? thanks in advance.

• MSBuild - setting a reference path

  I have several assemblies my project is dependant upon. These are stored in the Project's directory under the "Dependencies" folder. So something like this. Solution - Project - Dependancies FunkyAssembly.dll - bin - Debug - Release SomeCode.cs I've referenced FunkyAssembly.dll using Browse and in project.csproj I see <Reference Include="FunkyAssembly"> <HintPath>Dependancies\FunkyAssembly.dll</HintPath> </Reference> So far so good - except after a release build FunkyAssembly.dll is copied to the Release directory (not a problem in itself) but then future debug builds will reference this copy rather than the copy in Dependencies. You can see this if you at Path in the reference properties. This means that if Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll is updated the build won't pick it up as its referencing the old copy in bin/Release. Any way to FORCE the damn thing to pick up Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll rather than HINT?

• Design Time Attribute For CSS Class in ASP.net Custom Server Control

  Hopefully some Custom Control Designers/Builders can help I'm attempting to build my first custom control that is essential a client detail collection form. There are to be a series of elements to this form that require various styles applied to them. Ideally I'd like the VS 2005/2008 properties interface to be able to apply the CSSClass as it does at the control level, i.e. with a dropdown list of available CSS Clases. • Http 404: Not Found (WebException)

  Hi, I am using a console app/class library to invoke a asp.net web service. The class library queries the database and sends the data to the web service. What I notice is that when the amount of data is huge (with 20 columns and 18K records), i get a HTTP 404: Not Found exception from the web service. I have tried increasing the maxReqeustLength and executionTimeout properties in the httpRuntime tag in the web.config of the web service. Is there any thing that I can do to overcome this?   I have created a C#/.Net application using visual studio. I have also created an installer project that puts out two files: An MSI file Setup.exe file In my installer project properties I have setup .Net 3.5 as a prerequisite. What I would like my installer to do as as follows: Put out a single file (MSI/exe/whatever) that also includes .Net framework prerequisite The installer should check whether .Net framework is installed on the target machine. If not, it should install it from its own bundled copy. Right now my installer sends people to the web for getting .Net. This is not the user experience I want. Thanks for your help. -Raj

• How to disable multitouch?

  My app has several buttons which trigger different events. The user should NOT be able to hold down several buttons. Anyhow, holding down several buttons crashes the app. And so, I'm trying to disable multi-touch in my app. I've unchecked 'Multiple Touch' in all the xib files, and as far as I can work out, the properties 'multipleTouchEnabled' and 'exclusiveTouch' control whether the view uses multitouch. So in my applicationDidFinishLaunching I've put this: self.mainViewController.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.mainViewController.view.exclusiveTouch =YES; And in each of my view controllers I've put this in the viewDidLoad self.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.view.exclusiveTouch=YES; However, it still accepts multiple touches. I could do something like disable other buttons after getting a touch down event, but this would be an ugly hack. Surely there is a way to properly disable multi-touch?

• WinForm Text Control that displays current character/character limit

  I need a way to display, like you see in some web apps, the current characters/character limit for a Text Control(i.e. 3/500). I usually see this as a label residing directly above or below the Text Control. How is this 'normally' accomplished? Should I override my Text Control somehow? Do I just manually add labels by every Text Control and 'bind' them to properties of the Text Control? Do I need to create a composite control that has the Text Control & Label Controls together to accomplish what I need? Any direction or help will be greatly appreciated.

• Linq sql Attach, Update Check set to Never, but still Concurrency conflicts

  In the dbml designer I've set Update Check to Never on all properties. But i still get an exception when doing Attach: "An attempt has been made to Attach or Add an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another DataContext. This is not supported." • Adding scrollbars to UserControl

  I am trying to add vertical and horizontal scrollbars to my UserControl with the HorizontalScroll and VerticalScroll properties, but I am having extreme issues. My problem arises when I drag or manipulate the scroll box on the bar. When I let it go, it simply jumps back to the start position! I know of the AutoScroll property, but I do not want to use it since I want to be able to control every aspect of my scrollbars, and I don't want it to be done automatically. Also, according to the documentation, AutoScroll is for "[enabling] the user to scroll to any controls placed outside of its visible boundaries" which isn't what I want. I just want scrollbars. ...aaand I suppose I could add VScrollBar and HScrollBar to the control, but why should I do this when the scroll functionality already exists? Seems like a waste to me.

  How does one do this in c#? Let's say that myclass has : private enum Days{}; 1) How does one add data to the enum inside the myclass with the help of the constructor? As in : myclass my = new myclass(Monday,Friday); so that the enum inside the class gets the "Monday, Friday" properties. 2) Can one also make a property for an enume inside the class once it is initialized ? • iPhone UIImage initWithData fails

  Hello all, I'm trying to code up an async image downloader. I use NSURLConnection to get the data into an NSMutableData and use that data once it is complete to initialize a UIImage. I checked the bytes and it downloads the entire image correctly (right number of bytes at least), however; when I call [UIImage imageWithData:data] and then check the properties of the image, it is zero width and a garbage number for height, in fact, same number no matter what the image is. I tried with bunch of different images, png, jpg, different urls, it always downloads the image completely but UIImage can't initialize with that data. What could I be doing wrong here? Thanks.

• AS3: How to access pixel data efficiently?

  I'm working a game. The game requires entities to analyse an image and head towards pixels with specific properties (high red channel, etc.) I've looked into Pixel Bender, but this only seems useful for writing new colors to the image. At the moment, even at a low resolution (200x200) just one entity scanning the image slows to 1-2 Frames/second. I'm embedding the image and instance it as a Bitmap as a child of the stage. The 1-2 FPS situation is using BitmapData.getPixel() (on each pixel) with a distance calculation beforehand. I'm wondering if there's any way I can do this more efficiently... My first thought was some sort of spatial partioning coupled with splitting the image up into many smaller pieces. I also feel like Pixel Bender should be able to help somehow, however I've had little experience with it. Cheers for any help. Jonathan
