• ASP.Net Vertical Menu with Scroll functionality

  Referring to Menu / Scrolling Example I would like to create / find the same functionality for a vertical menu. I tried the following. <asp:Menu ID="menuAccountMembers" runat="server" StaticSubMenuIndent="16px" Visible="true" RenderingMode="Table" ScrollDownImageUrl="~/Resources/scrolldown.jpg" ScrollUpImageUrl="~/Resources/scrollup.jpg"> <Items> But it doesnt display any scrolling images. I am using .net 4.0 Tried setting menuAccountMembers.RenderingCompatibility = new Version(3, 5); as well. If there a property to only display the first 5 root menu items, then show scroll bars for the rest? It can be click-able, no need to hover over to show next item.

• Convert a complicated string into an array in php

  I have a php variable that comes from a form that needs tidying up. I hope you can help. The variable contains a list of items (possibly two or three word items with a space in between words). I want to convert it to a comma separated list with no superfluous white space. I want the divisions to fall only at commas, semi-colons or new-lines. Blank cannot be an item. Here's a comprehensive example (with a deliberately messy input): Variable In: "dog, cat ,car,tea pot,, ,,, ;;(++NEW LINE++)fly, cake" Variable Out "dog,cat,car,tea pot,fly,cake" Can anyone help?

• BlackBerry. How to define direction of Scroll or Focus change?

  Hi, does BlackBerry has any possibility to track focus or scroll change direction? I will describe a case. On UI we have a list and some horizontal tab bar (tab bar at top and below the list actually). If User is somewhere in the middle of a list and decides to click another tab, it appears a little difficult to put focus on the Tab control, so User scrolls to the first list item and after changes focus to tab (as a result very long operation). The point here How to catch event of horizontal scroll to change currently focused tab? And after if you scroll (by trackball) vertically you go back to list. Possibly you can advice with the right approach how to resolve such issues? Thanks Lyubomyr

• jQuery UI: moving items from one list to another

  While this should be relatively straightforward, I can't figure out how to move (rather than copy) LI elements between ULs. All I want is to drag any item from list foo to list bar (or vice versa) without duplicating the element. While connectToSortable does almost exactly what I want (though I'd prefer to avoid sortable), it clones the element - and manually removing the original element by reacting to the stop event turns out to be not so easy (e.g. ensuring that a valid drop actually happened). A simple "hello world" example would help me greatly.

• Custom iterator for dictionary?

  Hi folks, in my C#-Application, I have a Dictionary object. When iterating over the object using foreach, I naturally get each element of the dictionary. But I want only certain elements to be iterated, depending on the value of a property of MyValue. class MyValue { public bool AmIIncludedInTheIteration { get; set; } ... } Whenever AmIIncludedInTheIteration is false, the item shall not be returned by foreach. I understand that I need to implement my own iterator and override the Dictionary-Iterator somewhere. Can anyone here give me a short HowTo? Thanks in advance, Frank

• Using condionals in Linq Programatically

  I was just reading a recent question on using conditionals in Linq and it reminded me of an issue I have not been able to resolve. When building Linq to SQL queries programatically how can this be done when the number of conditionals is not known until runtime? For instance in the code below the first clause creates an IQueryable that, if executed, would select all the tasks (called issues) in the database, the 2nd clause will refine that to just issues assigned to one department if one has been selected in a combobox (Which has it's selected item bound to the departmentToShow property). How could I do this using the selectedItems collection instead?   I am looking for an example of how to use the new DataServiceState Save and Restore methods in a WP7 application in order to tombstone a datacontext - I cannot find any examples and the approach I used resulted in an exception this saves the data context correctly PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["DataContext"] = DataServiceState.Save(this.Model.Entities); this attempts to restore it after the app is re-activated var dc = (PhoneApplicationService.Current.State["DataContext"] as DataServiceState).Restore(); but throws an exception An item could not be added to the collection. When items in a DataServiceCollection are tracked by the DataServiceContext, new items cannot be added before items have been loaded into the collection. This is the same exception I get if I try to reload a datacontext that I stored "directly" (without using the DataServiceState.Save method) in the PhoneApplicationService.Current.State. I cannot find any offical documentation on the new ODATA v2 DataServiceState class or examples. thanks Michael

But Gmail App has not release code base. We do not know what Action set to Gmail Activity and what parmeter shall we put the extras. • JSF Rendering Issue (Page getting cached)

  I am facing a strange issue with JSF. I have developed one controller and bind it to request scope. I need to access one jsf page like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=A and on the same IE session I want to issue another request like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=B as we can see, only the type is changing here. This is why I have a ruleController bound to request scope, so that every request, creates the controller and pulls out the data depending upon type. I have a private HtmlSelectOneMenu choices item in the page. What I see is, somehow only once in the session the getChoices() is getting called. This is what I see For each url, one new ruleController object is getting created. Only first time getChoices() are called. In the subsequent time, if I change the URL in the web browser, the getChoices() method are not getting called though a new controller is getting created. Note: I am using JSF 1.1

  I have a control template for TreeViewItems and instead of showing the normal FocusVisualStyle I have a MultiTrigger set up like this: <MultiTrigger> <MultiTrigger.Conditions> <Condition Property="IsSelected" Value="true"/> <Condition Property="IsSelectionActive" Value="true"/> </MultiTrigger.Conditions> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"/> </MultiTrigger> However this also causes the FontWeight to change to bold when a TreeViewItem's parent item is selected. Is there any way I can stop that from happening?

  I'm pretty new to C++ and was looking for a good way to pull the data out of this line. A sample line that I might need to tokenise is f 11/65/11 16/70/16 17/69/17 I have a tokenisation method that splits strings into a vector as delimited by a string which may be useful static void Tokenise(const string& str, vector<string>& tokens, const string& delimiters = " ") The only way I can think of doing it is to tokenise with " " as a delimiter, remove the first item from the resulting vector, then tokenise each part by itself. Is there a good way to do this all in one?

• How do I Benchmark RESTful Service with Variable Parameters?

  I'm currently working on benchmarking a RESTful service I've made, and part of that is making sure it runs in a reasonable amount of times for a large array of parameters. For example, let's say I have RESTful API of the form some_site.com/item?item_id=y. In that case to be sure my service is working as fast as I'd like it to work, I'd want to try out many values for y one by one, preferably coming from some text file. I can't figure out any way of doing this in ab or httperf. I'm open to using a different benchmarking program if I have, but would prefer something simple and light. What I want to do seems like something pretty standard, so I'm guessing there must already be a program that let's me do it, but an hour or so of googling hasn't gotten me an answer. Ideas?

  I have some Crystal Reports connecting to a Sql Server db that I would like to detect whether the connection is trusted or whether I need to supply the log on info (reports are not supplied by me so I can't control the connect method). If I just blindly supply login credentials, it won't connect if it is a trusted connection. • Fastest way to move records from a oracle DB into MS sql server after processing

  Hi.. Ok this is the scenario...I have a table in Oracle that acts like a queue... A VB.net program reads the queue and calls a stored proc in MS SQL Server that processes and then inserts the message into another SQL server table and then deletes the record from the oracle table. We use a datareader to read the records from Oracle and then call the stored proc for each of the records. The program seems to be a little slow. The stored procedure itself isnt slow. The SP by itself when called in a loop can process about 2000 records in 20 seconds. BUt when called from the .Net program, the execution time is about 5 records per second. I have seen that most of the time consumed is in calling the stored procedure and waiting for it to return. Is there a better way of doing this?   I would like to have a very short / minimal example of how to create some tabular widget with different types of item in it. In the first round let's say I'd like to render [["Hello", 12, True], ["World", 13, False]] (Hello as string, 12 as number (right-align), True as a checkbox for eg.), but it would be nice to have Dates, Colors, and other type of info. Next round: editing (integer with spinbox, maybe sometimes a combobox is handy, but that may not work out of the box). There must be a simple solution, but I couldn't find...

• Import small number of records from a very large CSV file in Biztalk 2006

  I have a Biztalk project that imports an incoming CSV file and dumps it to a database table. The import works fine, but I only need to keep about 200-300 records from a file with upwards of a million rows. My orchestration discards these rows, but the problem is that the flat file I'm importing is still 250MB, and when converted to XML using a regular flat file pipeline, it takes hours to process and sometimes causes the server to run out memory. Is there something I can do to have the Custom Pipeline itself discard rows I don't care about? The very first item in each CSV row is one of a few strings, and I only want to keep rows that start with a certain string. Thanks for any help you're able to provide.

  Hello stackoverflow, I'm currently in Python land. This is what I need to do. I have already looked into the itertools library but it seems to only do permutations. I want to take an input list, like ['yahoo', 'wikipedia', 'freebase'] and generate every unique combination of one item with zero or more other items... ['yahoo', 'wikipedia', 'freebase'] ['yahoo', 'wikipedia'] ['yahoo', 'freebase'] ['wikipedia', 'freebase'] ['yahoo'] ['freebase'] ['wikipedia'] A few notes. Order does not matter and I am trying to design the method to take a list of any size. Also, is there a name for this kind of combination? Thanks for your help!

• Cannot use String.Empty as a default value for an optional parameter in C# - then what's the point?

  I am reading Effective C# by Bill Wagner. In Item 14 - Minimize Duplicate Initialization Logic, he shows the following example of using the new optional parameters feature in a constructor: public MyClass(int initialCount = 0, string name = "") Notice that he used "" instead of string.Empty. He comments: You'll note [in an example above] that the second constructor specified "" for the default value on the name parameter, rather than the more customary string.Empty. That's because string.Empty is not a compile-time constant. It is a static property defined in the string class. Because it is not a compile constant, you cannot use it for the default value for a parameter. If we cannot use the string.Empty static in all situations, then doesn't that defeat the purpose of it? I thought that we would use it to be sure that we have a system-independent means of referring to the empty string. Is my understanding wrong? Thanks.

  VB.NET 2008 .NET 3.5 I have two base classes that are MustInherit (partial). Let's call one class OrderBase and the other OrderItemBase. A specific type of order and order item would inherit from these classes. Let's call these WebOrder (inherits from OrderBase) and WebOrderItem (inherits from OrderItemBase). Now, in the grand scheme of things WebOrder is a composite class containing a WebOrderItem, like so: Public Class WebOrder Inherits OrderBase Public Property OrderItem() as WebOrderItem End Property End Class Public Class WebOrderItem Inherits OrderItemBase End Class In order to make sure any class that derives from OrderBase has the OrderItem property, I would like to do something like this in the OrderBase class: Public MustInherit Class OrderBase Public MustOverride Property OrderItem() as Derivative(Of OrderItemBase) End Class In other words, I want the derived class to be forced to contain a property that returns a derivative of OrderItemBase. Is this possible, or should I be using an entirely different approach?

I may have something like this: List<BaseClass> list = new List<BaseClass>() { new Class1(1), new Class2(1), new Class1(2), new Class3(1), new Class2(2), new Class4(1), new Class3(2) }; I am trying to use LINQ to semi-sort the list so that the natural order is maintained EXCEPT for certain classes which have base.GroupThisType == true. All classes with GroupThisType should be grouped together at the place that the first class of the same type occurs. It works very fine in locally. But in server it shows the bellow error ---- TypeError: Error #1088: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed. at bgfin_fla::Main_1/xmlLoaded() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete() someone please show me the path.   Hi, I want to add, submenu to a menu item dynamically. How can I achive this? I tried like this, I have created an Action and submenu. Then I have added the submenu to action. But, I have connected the “triggered” signal of action. its getting crash if I click on the action.. I have also handled the “aboutToShow” signal of menu, same its also getting crash when I click on action.. Here is the sampe code. • Creating a templated silverlight control that has a story board.

  I'm trying to create a templated silverlight control that has a simple animation (swap a few color properties). An example would be a control that is similar to the 'questions' menu item in stackoverflow. So the consumer of the control can specify the background color and the background color for the mouseover event. I've run into the issue that I can't use template binding for a storyboard animation (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1336689/is-it-possible-to-use-templatebinding-in-a-storyboard-in-silverlight).
