• Drupal CCK 3 Multigroup tables with views

  Hi, Each node have CCK-3-dev multigroup with 3 fields. Can I use one of fields as table header? Values of this field are taken from Taxonomy. With a simple recipe example, where food Z and Y are 2 nodes with recipes and each node has multigroup with ingredient name (milk, fish), amount (numbers) and unit (g, kg). Is there a way to create a table like this with views, I want to use views calc to calculate total amount of ingredient needed to prepare multiple recipes: Ingredient A Ingredient B Ingredient C Food Z 200 g 700 g 0 g Food Y 500 g 1000 g 50 g I don't even need units by number, but that would be good too. Anyways, how do I get this?

• Lua - Iterate Through Table With nil Values

  My lua function receives a table that is of the array form: { field1, field2, nil, field3, } No keys, only values. I'm trying to convert this to a pseudo CSV form by grabbing all the fields and concatenating them into a string. Here is my function: function ArenaRewind:ConvertToCSV(tableName) csvRecord = "\n" for i,v in pairs(tableName) do if v == nil then v = "nil" end csvRecord = csvRecord .. "\"" .. v .. "\"" if i ~= #tableName then csvRecord = csvRecord .. "," end end return csvRecord end Not the prettiest code by any means, but it seems to iterate through them and grab all the non-nil values. The other table iteration function is ipairs() which stops as soon as it hits a nil value. Is there any easy way to grab all of these fields including the nil values? The tables are various sizes, so I hope to refrain from accessing each part like an array [i.e., tableName[1] through tableName[4]) and just grabbing the nil values that way. Thanks in advance.

  We are looking to turn an internal tool we have developed into a Visual Studio Package that we would sell to other developers. The tool will impact the custom editor and/or custom languages. Visual Studio 2010 has redesigned the API's heavily to simplify much of the work involved for these types of integration but the key question we have is: What is the typical adoption pace of new Visual Studio versions? Is there any information out there on adoption rates based on history? How many shops are still using 2005? This will help us to consider whether to target just 2010 using the new APIs or whether trying to go back and support 2008 (maybe 2005) and testing it forward.

• Design question for WinForms (C#) app, using Entity Framework

  I am planning on writing a small home budget application for myself, as a learning excercise. I have built my database (SQL Server), and written a small console application to interact with it, and test out scenarios on my database. Once I am happy, my next step would be to start building the application - but I am already wondering what the best/standard design would be. I am palnning on using Entity Framework for handling my database entities... then linq to sql/objects for getting the data, all running under a WinForms (for now) application. My plan (I've never used EF... and most of my development background is Web apps) is to have my database... with Entity Framework in it's own project.. which has the connection to the database. This project would expose methods such as 'GetAccount()', 'GetAccount(int accountId)' etc. I'd then have a service project that references my EF project. And on top of that, my GUI project, which makes the calls to my service project. But I am stuck. Lets say I have a screen that displays a list of Account types (Debit, Credit, Loan...). Once I have selected one, the next drop down shows a list of accounts I have that suite that account type. So, my OnChange event on my DropDown on the account type control will make a call to the serviceLayer project, 'GetAccountTypes()', and I would expect back a List< of Account Types. However, the AccountType object ... what is that? That can't be the AccountType object from my EF project, as my GUI project doesn't have reference to it. Would I have to have some sort of Shared Library, shared between my GUI and my Service project, with a custom built AccountType object? The GUI can then expect back a list of these. So my service layer would have a method: public List<AccountType> GetAccountTypes() That would then make a call to a custom method in my EF project, which would probably be the same as the above method, except, it returns an list of EF.Data.AccountType (The Entity Framework generated Account Type object). The method would then have the linq code to get the data as I want it. Then my service layer will get that object, and transform it unto my custom AccountType object, and return it to the GUI. Does that sound at all like a good plan?

  I've noticed that chinese mobile phones became very popular, perhaps because of their very reasonable price and many modern features (touch screens, advanced multimedia, double sim cards etc). I'm wondering if there's any way to develop custom solutions for this handsets as independent developer? How to obtain a toolkit and documentation? I've found some resources, but mainly inconsistent tech notes, often in chinese only. For now I know, that majority of chinese handsets are based on chips from MediaTek (MTK), with operating system based on Nucleus RTOS and MMI (plutoMMI?) framework. Unfortunately, there is no Java RE avaiable (ok, there are some handsets with Java, however, Java isn't something I'm looking for) Is there any SDK, documentation, emulators/simulators, how-tos, etc avaiable? How to develop, deploy and test custom application for MTK mobile?

• Assign binding path at runtime in WPF DataTemplate

  I am writing a WPF program in C# in which I have a ListView for which the columns will be populated at runtime. I would like to use a custom DataTemplate for the GridViewColumn objects in the ListView. In the examples I have seen where the number of columns is fixed in advance, a custom DataTemplate is often created using something like the XAML below. <DataTemplate x:Key="someKey"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=FirstName}" /> </DataTemplate> This DataTemplate could also later be assigned to GridViewColumn.CellTemplate in the code-behind by calling FindResource("someKey"). However, this alone is of no use to me, because in this example the Path element is fixed to FirstName. Really I need something where I can set the Path in code. It is my impression that something along these lines may be possible if XamlReader is used, but I'm not sure how in practice I would do this. Any solutions are greatly appreciated.

  Essentially I have three fields and I am creating a new one which is the three combined making a mailable address; problem being some fields contain null values and adding myString to a null just produces a null in sql. • Survey on logging classes / frameworks / writers

  I am curious what writers (handlers, loggers) are you using. Text file and db its quite obvious, but what are other possibilities ? Firephp maybe (as in Zend_Log), mail, jabber, url ? Is anyone using syslog() or error_log() ? Are you using streams (especially custom ones) ? Are you using custom error levels or you limit yourself to predefined values? Are you logging common php errors / warning / notices? And last question - is there anything new in the town, worth consideration, apart of Zend_Log ? Or are you using your homebrew class?

  I have a model that has a pickled set of strings. Obviously the user won't be working with the pickled string directly. Also, the interface would need a widget for adding/removing strings from a set. What is the best way to go about doing this? I'm not super familiar with Django's admin system. Do I need to build a custom admin widget or something? • Unique identifier for an email

  I am writing a C# application which allows users to store emails in a MS SQL Server database. Many times, multiple users will be copied on an email from a customer. If they all try to add the same email to the database, I want to make sure that the email is only added once. MD5 springs to mind as a way to do this. I don't need to worry about malicious tampering, only to make sure that the same email will map to the same hash and that no two emails with different content will map to the same hash. My question really boils down to how one would combine multiple fields into one MD5 (or other) hash value. Some of these fields will have a single value per email (e.g. subject, body, sender email address) while others will have multiple values (varying numbers of attachments, recipients). I want to develop a way of uniquely identifying an email that will be platform and language independent (not based on serialization). Any advice?

• CURL Authentication being lost?

  I am authenticating a login via CURL just fine. I have a variable I am using to display the returned HTML, and it is returning my user control panel as if I am logged in. After authenticating, I want to communicate variables with a form on another page within the site; but for some reason the HTML from that page is returning a non-authenticated version of the header (as if the original authentication never took place.) I have a cookies.txt file with 777 permissions, and have tried just getting the contents of the same page shown when I authenticate and it is as if I am losing any associated session/cookie data somewhere along the way.   Hi, I am trying to extend Visual Studio 2010 RC to be able to use a custom programming language. The first two things I've tried to do is a syntax highlight/Intellisense feature (easily done, thanks to "Ook!" sample from PDC09) and a possibility to create new project templates (i.e. be able to open *.myproj files). For this second task, I can't find any easy tutorials or samples. Most samples are for Visual Studio 2008 (as for IronPython integration) or even VS2003. The few samples available for VS2010 do not work (including MPFProj) or do not compile, and are too hard to understand. Is there any easy-to-understand sample, either using MPFProj or a standalone solution, showing how to integrate templates for a custom language inside Visual Studio 2010?

  INFORMIX-SQL 7.3 Perform Screens: According to documentation, in an "after editadd editupdate of table" control block, its instructions are executed before the row is added or updated to the table, whereas in an "after add update of table" control block, its instructions are executed after the row has been added or updated to the table, supposedly meaning that any instructions which would alter values of field-tags linked to table.columns would not be committed to the table, but field-tags linked to displayonly fields will change?.. However, when using "after add update of table" I placed instructions which alter values for field-tags linked to table.columns and their displayed and committed values also changed!.. I would have thought that an "after add update of table" would only alter displayonly fields.

  How do I transpose rows and columns in Access 2003? I have a multiple tables that I need to do this on. (I've reworded my question because feedback tells me it was confusing how I originally stated it.) Each table has 30 fields and 20 records. Lets say my fields are Name, Weight, Zip Code, Quality4, Quality5, Quality6 through Quality30 which is favorite movie. Let's say the records each describe a person. The people are Alice, Betty, Chuck, Dave, Edward etc through Tommy..   Hi, I am looking for a solution for this scenario - I need to implement a feature to allow user to add various controls to canvas(WPF, custom and third party ) and then select any one of them and modify some properties in property grid(changes needs to be reflected in UI). I don't want to expose all the properties of any control only some of them(relevant to end user); apart from this there are some properties which will be common for all controls e.g. Title, Value(Value will be bound to some property of a control, say Text of TextBox and Content of Label) etc. I am thinking of putting all the common proeprties at one place. Things I am confused aout - How to create such base class, whether to use UserControl or Custom Control for this? How will the binding work between Control, base class proeprties and PropertyGrid? What type of object will I expose to property grid? Any idea on what approch should be followed in this case, any kind of input will really be helpful.

• Populate Multiple PDFs

  I am using itextsharp to populate my PDFs. I have no issues with this. Basically what I am doing is getting the PDF and populating the fields in memory then passing back the MemoryStream to be displayed on a webpage. All this is working with a single document PDF. What I am trying to figure out now, is merging multiple PDFs into one MemoryStream. The part I cant figure out is, the documents I am populating are identical. So for example, I have a List<Person> that contains 5 persons. I want to fill out a PDF for each person and merge them all into one, in memory. Bare in mind I am going to fill out the same type of document for each person. The problem I am getting is that when I try to add a second copy of the same PDF to be filled out for the second iteration, it just overwrites the first populated PDF, since it's the same document, therefore not adding a second copy for the second Person at all. So basically if I had the 5 people, I would end up with a single page with the data of the 5th person, instead of a PDF with 5 like pages that contain the data of each person respectively. • ASP.NET plugin architecture for SaaS?

  Hey Everyone, Been doing a bit of research and have a few questions about using a Plugin architecture for asp.net. I have used it before for a single application and works well but was wondering if it technically possible to use this architecture for a SaaS? Once code base but custom plugins for each customer using some form of custom folders to organize the plugins? Idea would be to use one main code base instead of having to maintain code for N number of clients. Ideas? Thoughts? Experience either way?

• Building big, immutable objects without constructors having long parameter lists

  Hi StackOverflow! I have some big (more than 3 fields) Objects which can and should be immutable. Every time I run into that case i tend to create constructor abominations with long parameter lists. It doesn't feel right, is hard to use and readability suffers. It is even worse if the fields are some sort of collection type like lists. A simple addSibling(S s) would ease the object creation so much but renders the object mutable. What do you guys use in such cases? I'm on Scala and Java, but i think the problem is language agnostic as long as the language is object oriented. Solutions I can think of: "Constructor abominations with long parameter lists" The Builder Pattern Thanks for your input!

From what I understand TypeDescriptor.GetProperties() will return custom TypeDescriptor properties, where as Type.GetProperties() will only return intrinsic "real" properties of the object. Is this right? • Loading a ConfigurationSection with a required child ConfigurationElement with .Net configuration fr

  I have a console application that is trying to load a CustomConfigurationSection from a web.config file. The custom configuration section has a custom configuration element that is required. This means that when I load the config section, I expect to see an exception if that config element is not present in the config. The problem is that the .NET framework seems to be completely ignoring the isRequired attribute. So when I load the config section, I just creates an instance of the custom configuration element and sets it on the config section. My question is, why is this happening? I want the GetSection() method to fire a ConfigurationErrors exception since a required element is missing from the configuration. Since the .NET framework internally uses TraceSources, it also gives me a consistent way of configuring tracing - with log4net, I have to configure log4net as well as TraceSources. What does log4net give me that TraceSources don't (or that couldn't be done by writing a couple of custom TraceListeners)?

• How to get the PrintDocumentImageableArea for a given PrintQueue without going through PrintDialog?

  From MSDN (link): The type PrintDocumentImageableArea has no public constructor. Hence, the variable documentImageableArea must be declared and assigned to Nothing and only then passed to the method. This method displays a PrintDialog requiring input from the user. After the user has selected a printer, paper size, and orientation and closed the dialog, documentImageableArea points to an actual object and its properties are initialized. I have my custom print dialog and need to get the PrintDocumentImageableArea of a given PrintQueue and PrintTicket! (I need the margin's I need to apply) From what I can gather it is quite common for anything but the most basic applications to use their own custom print dialog. There must be a way to get to this information!? Any input appreciated!
