    I have a textarea with a default value of http://. Now when an user pastes in an url (if they don't know what they are doing, like most people) it comes out like this http://http://www.google.com. I've seen a site that as soon as you have http://http:// it removes one via Ajax. I am not familiar with Ajax, so can anyone help me? I don't want to clear the field on focus only.

    im using jqurey to develop in web enviorment. i want to know why $("#a#trigger").trigger('mouseenter'); $("#a#trigger").trigger('hover'); $("#a#trigger").trigger('mouseover'); all 3 of those aren't working to active a hover function i have. $(function() { $('a#trigger').hover(function(e) { $('div#pop-up').show(); }, function() { $('div#pop-up').hide(); }); }); }); a#trigger is the name of the anchor, and #pop-up is a div element in my web. problem is, that i want to mouse over some event in FullCalendar plugin and those functions aint working.     So, I set the closing function for simple modal as follows: $.modal.defaults.onClose = function (dialog) { $.validationEngine.closePrompt(".formError",true); dialog.data.fadeOut('slow', function () {}); dialog.container.fadeOut('slow', function () {}); dialog.overlay.fadeOut('slow', function () { $.modal.close(); }); } The line where the validationengine closes prompts basically just makes some divs disappear. The problem is that I don't want things to start fading out until closePrompt() is complete. Is there a way to do that? Is the only way with a "callback"? I don't think it has that built in to the function. Any other way to do it?

    I have some code that basically inflates a 'balloon' through 15 or so stages and then makes it pop at the 16th stage. (yes, images are changed). What I'm wondering now is if it's possible to use Jquery to play a sound file whenever I reach that 16th stage (or when whatever var reaches whatever value) - in other words...when I want. I've found several jquery sound plugins but they all create this player which I must then click for it to play the file.     I have the following code: var selected = $('#hiddenField').val().split(","); ... if (selected.indexOf(id) > 0) { ... set value ... } I'm dynamically creating a CheckBoxList, and trying to remember the state of the checkboxes by putting the selected IDs into the hidden field. I get an error stating that "Object doesn't support this property or method". My assumption is that selected is an array, which should support indexOf. Is that incorrect?

  • Trigger the change event of a textbox in jQuery

    I have an asp:TextBox with asp:RegularExpressionValidator to validate if it's a number. Obviously an onchange event will be attached to this textbox while rendering. Also I add a change event at $(document).ready to make some calculation when the value is changed. <asp:TextBox id="myText" runat="server" /> <asp:regularexpressionvalidator id="myRev" ControlToValidate="myText" runat="server">*</asp:regularexpressionvalidator> $(document).ready(function(){ $('[id$=myText]').bind('change',function(){ //do something }).change(); //force the change event at the very beginning }); My function will be executed later than the .net generated js because of the register time. But the .net js throws an error. I traced in the js: function ValidatorOnChange(event) { ... } and found that all of event.fromElement,event.toElement,event.srcElement are null which causes the exception. Did I do something wrong? Any solutions? Thanks.

If there are more than one link, just the first one is saved, and if there are links inside the ul tag, they are not included because they are descendants and no childrens. Something like this (I am cloning and outputting html): $(this).clone().remove('not(a:first)').html(); //Assuming remove looks for "a" as a first child Does not work, so I try with this: $(this).clone().children().remove('not(a:first)').parent().html(); Does not work so I try with this: $(this).clone().remove('not(>a:first)').html(); I need the original element as a reference after removal for chaining more operations EDIT: Ok! Second one works with a little syntax correction as some appointed (:not( instead of not() but I would like to know if there is any other solution similar to the third line so I don't have to do children().remove().parent().
