• Code Contracts and Pex at MSDN Live 2010

  One of the 6 sessions I and Mikael Nitell is running on MSDN Live 2010 here in Norway is about Code Quality, and part of that session goes through the use of Code Contracts and Pex.  Both fantastic tools ! They can be used togethers, but are also completely independent from each other, and can be used as a single Code Contracts  has to downloaded separately from VS 2010 (works also on VS 2008).   Start looking at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/devlabs/dd491992.aspx . This download is a free download.   Code Contracts originates form the ideas of Bertrand Meyer – Design by Contract, take a look here. Pex is found on the MSDN Subscription download, so it requires an active MSDN Subscription. Start to get it from here http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/pex/downloads.aspx .  The current version as of 14.4.10 is 0.9, which works with the 2010 RC.  A new version is due this week.  Pex is a tool to generate unit tests, and does this very intelligently.  Perfect to make tests for legacy code, but also to make sure you get all paths tested.  See the Reference information and project startup information.

• The Case of the Invisible Training Resource

  I’ve been at this programming business longer than I would like to admit. For that reason I am always looking for new training resources as anyone in this business knows all too well. I’ve looked at AppDev (way too expensive for my meager budget), LearnVisualStudio (I have a lifetime subscription), and several others. What appears to be a new version of AppDev called LearnDevNow has some good material and so it goes. So what does all this have to do with the title? I’ve been using Adobe’s Flex Builder 3 and now their latest Flash Builder 4 (a renaming of the Adobe Flex development environment). One of the offered perks on registering was a month’s subscription to Lynda.com. My first reaction was “What the heck is Lynda.com?” but I chose it and signed up. What a surprise I was in for. I’d never heard of them before but discovered one of the most comprehensive training resources I’ve ever seen – and all for $ 34.95 a month in the version that offers Exercise files. They do have a heavy focus on Adobe products but also cover a lot of Microsoft material. What bothered me is that in the time I’ve been in this business I’d never heard of them! ; Thus the allusion to “The Invisible Training Resource.” Not only do they offer beginner and in depth training but the syllabus and the instructors are some of the best I’ve seen in the industry. So I just feel that more folks need to know about this organization. If you need training in the venues they offer I can attest to the fact that they offer some of the best training available in this industry in my humble opinion. You really owe it to yourself to check out Lynda.com.

• Using HTML5 Today part 2&ndash;Fixing Semantic tags with a Shiv

Legacy IE issues However, new HTML5 tags get mangled in IE browsers prior to version 9.  To see this in action, consider this bit of HTML code which includes the new <article> and <header> elements: Viewing this page using the IE9 developer tools (F12) we see that the browser correctly models the hierarchy of tags listed above: But if we switch to IE8 Browser Mode in developer tools things go bad: Did you know that a closing tag could close itself?? The browser loses the hierarchy & closes all of the new tags.  The new tags become unusable and the page structure falls apart. • Visual Studio Continued Excitement

  As you know Visual Studio 2012 RTM’d and then became available in August (Soma’s blog posts told you that here and here), and the VS2012 launch was earlier this month (Soma also told you that here). Every time a release of Visual Studio takes place I am very excited, since this has been my development tool of choice for almost my entire career (from many years before I joined Microsoft). I am doubly excited with this release since it is the second version of Visual Studio that I have worked on and contributed major features to, now that I’ve been in the developer division (DevDiv) for over 4 years. Additionally, I am very excited about the new era that VS2012 starts with VSUpdate for continued customer value: instead of waiting for the next major version of VS to get new features, there is new infrastructure to enable friction-free updates. The first update will ship before the end of this year, and you can read more about it at Brian’s blog post. I also noticed that a CTP of the first quarterly update is available to download here. In the last two months, the VS2012 family of products we all worked on in DevDiv shipped, coinciding with the end of the Microsoft financial/review year, and naturally followed by a couple of organizational changes (e.g. see Jason’s blog post)… On a personal level, this meant that I was very lucky to have an opportunity present itself to me that I simply could not turn down, so I grabbed it! I’ll still be working on Visual Studio, but not in the Parallel Computing part of the C++ team; instead I will be PM-leading the VS Diagnostics team… Stay tuned for details of what is coming in that space, in the VS updates and in the next major VS release, as I am able to share them… Comments about this post by Daniel Moth welcome at the original blog.

This was quite a popular script however, in SQL Server 2012 the same can be achieved using new DMV sys.sql-expression_dependencies. I recently blogged about it over Find Referenced or Referencing Object in SQL Server using sys.sql_expression_dependencies. 2007 SQL SERVER – Versions, CodeNames, Year of Release 1993 – SQL Server 4.21 for Windows NT 1995 – SQL Server 6.0, codenamed SQL95 1996 – SQL Server 6.5, codenamed Hydra 1999 – SQL Server 7.0, codenamed Sphinx 1999 – SQL Server 7.0 OLAP, codenamed Plato 2000 – SQL Server 2000 32-bit, codenamed Shiloh (version 8.0) 2003 – SQL Server 2000 64-bit, codenamed Liberty 2005 – SQL Server 2005, codenamed Yukon (version 9.0) 2008 – SQL Server 2008, codenamed Katmai (version 10.0) 2011 – SQL Server 2008, codenamed Denali (version 11.0) Search String in Stored Procedure Searching sting in the stored procedure is one of the most frequent task developer do. They might be searching for a table, view or any other details. I have written a script to do the same in SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. This is worth bookmarking blog post. There is an alternative way to do the same as well here is the example. 2008 SQL SERVER – Refresh Database Using T-SQL NO! Some of the questions have a single answer NO! You may want to read the question in the original blog post. I had a great time saying No! SQL SERVER – Delete Backup History – Cleanup Backup History SQL Server stores history of all the taken backup forever. History of all the backup is stored in the msdb database. Many times older history is no more required. Following Stored Procedure can be executed with a parameter which takes days of history to keep. In the following example 30 is passed to keep a history of month. 2009 Stored Procedure are Compiled on First Run – SP taking Longer to Run First Time Is stored procedure pre-compiled? Why the Stored Procedure takes a long time to run for the first time?  This is a very common questions often discussed by developers and DBAs. There is an absolutely definite answer but the question has been discussed forever. There is a misconception that stored procedures are pre-compiled. They are not pre-compiled, but compiled only during the first run. For every subsequent runs, it is for sure pre-compiled. Read the entire article for example and demonstration. Removing Key Lookup – Seek Predicate – Predicate – An Interesting Observation Related to Datatypes This is one of the most important performance tuning lesson on my blog. I suggest this weekend you spend time reading them and let me know what you think about the concepts which I have demonstrated in the four part series. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 Seek Predicate is the operation that describes the b-tree portion of the Seek. Predicate is the operation that describes the additional filter using non-key columns. Based on the description, it is very clear that Seek Predicate is better than Predicate as it searches indexes whereas in Predicate, the search is on non-key columns – which implies that the search is on the data in page files itself. Policy Based Management – Create, Evaluate and Fix Policies This article will cover the most spectacular feature of SQL Server – Policy-based management and how the configuration of SQL Server with policy-based management architecture can make a powerful difference. Policy based management is loaded with several advantages. It can help you implement various policies for reliable configuration of the system. It also provides additional administration assistance to DBAs and helps them effortlessly manage various tasks of SQL Server across the enterprise. 2010 Recycle Error Log – Create New Log file without Server Restart Once I observed a DBA to restaring the SQL Server when he needed new error log file. This was funny and sad both at the same time. There is no need to restart the server to create a new log file or recycle the log file. You can run sp_cycle_errorlog and achieve the same result. Get Database Backup History for a Single Database Simple but effective script! Reducing CXPACKET Wait Stats for High Transactional Database The subject is very complex and I have done my best to simplify the concept. In simpler words, when a parallel operation is created for SQL Query, there are multiple threads for a single query. Each query deals with a different set of the data (or rows). Due to some reasons, one or more of the threads lag behind, creating the CXPACKET Wait Stat. Threads which came first have to wait for the slower thread to finish. The Wait by a specific completed thread is called CXPACKET Wait Stat. Information Related to DATETIME and DATETIME2 There are quite a lot of confusion with DATETIME and DATETIME2. DATETIME2 is also one of the underutilized datatype of SQL Server.  In this blog post I have written a follow up of the my earlier datetime series where I clarify a few of the concepts related to datetime. Difference Between GETDATE and SYSDATETIME Difference Between DATETIME and DATETIME2 – WITH GETDATE Difference Between DATETIME and DATETIME2 2011 Introduction to CUME_DIST – Analytic Functions Introduced in SQL Server 2012 SQL Server 2012 introduces new analytical function CUME_DIST(). This function provides cumulative distribution value. It will be very difficult to explain this in words so I will attempt small example to explain you this function. Instead of creating new table, I will be using AdventureWorks sample database as most of the developer uses that for experiment. Introduction to FIRST _VALUE and LAST_VALUE – Analytic Functions Introduced in SQL Server 2012 SQL Server 2012 introduces new analytical functions FIRST_VALUE() and LAST_VALUE(). This function returns first and last value from the list. It will be very difficult to explain this in words so I’d like to attempt to explain its function through a brief example. Instead of creating a new table, I will be using the AdventureWorks sample database as most developers use that for experiment purposes. OVER clause with FIRST _VALUE and LAST_VALUE – Analytic Functions Introduced in SQL Server 2012 – ROWS BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND UNBOUNDED FOLLOWING “Don’t you think there is bug in your first example where FIRST_VALUE is remain same but the LAST_VALUE is changing every line. I think the LAST_VALUE should be the highest value in the windows or set of result.” Puzzle – Functions FIRST_VALUE and LAST_VALUE with OVER clause and ORDER BY You can see that row number 2, 3, 4, and 5 has same SalesOrderID = 43667. The FIRST_VALUE is 78 and LAST_VALUE is 77. Now if these function was working on maximum and minimum value they should have given answer as 77 and 80 respectively instead of 78 and 77. Also the value of FIRST_VALUE is greater than LAST_VALUE 77. Why? Explain in detail. Introduction to LEAD and LAG – Analytic Functions Introduced in SQL Server 2012 SQL Server 2012 introduces new analytical function LEAD() and LAG(). This functions accesses data from a subsequent row (for lead) and previous row (for lag) in the same result set without the use of a self-join . It will be very difficult to explain this in words so I will attempt small example to explain you this function. Instead of creating new table, I will be using AdventureWorks sample database as most of the developer uses that for experiment. A Real Story of Book Getting ‘Out of Stock’ to A 25% Discount Story Available Our book was out of stock in 48 hours of it was arrived in stock! We got call from the online store with a request for more copies within 12 hours. But we had printed only as many as we had sent them. There were no extra copies. We finally talked to the printer to get more copies. However, due to festivals and holidays the copies could not be shipped to the online retailer for two days. We knew for sure that they were going to be out of the book for 48 hours. This is the story of how we overcame that situation! • Very slow write access to SSD disks on some Asus P8Z77 motherboards

  I have Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard, that ran Mint 13 (based on Ubuntu 12.04) just perfectly, but recently I've tried to install Mint 17 and noticed abysmal write performance. Write speed on SSD disk was about 1.5MB/sec, when it's supposed to be in 150-250MB/sec range. For write testing I've used dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=10M count=10 while booted up from LiveCD. I have also tested the read speed with hdparm -tT /dev/sda and got about 440MB/sec -- that's normal. I can tell, the read performance has not degraded at all and is not an issue here. Since I had a few different SSD disks and few motherboards, I've tested and tested and here are results: Asus P8H77 works fine with Mint13, has very slow write speed starting from Mint14. Asus P8Z77-V LK works with Mint13, has very slow write speed starting from Mint14. Asus P8Z77-V PRO works with Mint13, and works just fine with Mint14, 15, 16 and 17. The only difference between "PRO" version and others is that it has extra SATA controller onboard (in addition to the Z77 chipset SATA controller) providing extra 2 SATA ports. SSD disks work fine with "PRO" version when connected to the native SATA ports as well as to the ports provided by extra SATA controller, so this does not look like a hardware issue. As far as I can tell, there's something changed in the kernel while going from 3.2 to 3.5, that affects the detection of onboard SATA controller for Asus P8*77 motherboards, that screws up the write speed for SSD drives. Could anyone shed some light on how to fix this issue or, possibly, give a pointer to a more suitable place to ask this question?

This feature exists from last 3 years, but I hardly see its utilization. One of the common arguments was that as the project migrated from the earlier version, the feature disappears. I totally accept this argument and acknowledge it. However, my point is that this new feature should be used in all the new coding – what is your opinion? • I have a bad install of Windows on another hard drive and it won't let me install a fresh copy. How do I fix it in Ubuntu 12.04?

  Basically, there was a security issue in the drivers for my graphics card. It was a 64-bit card and I installed 32-bit Windows. Apparently, before SP1 was available, which fixed that issue, 6 trojan horses got in. They stopped SP1 from installing. After going through the ringer several times, I finally talked to a person who knew the problem. It was something about how the drivers tried to transfer between the 32-bit OS and the 64-bit card that left me open. Ever since, my computer has been slow and has had weird issues. Like tinypic wouldn't ever load. Also, certain programs wouldn't install. So I eventually talk to the dude that knew the problem and he takes the reigns and does some diagnostics. He tells me that to fix it I have to format the hard drive and do a fresh install. I'm okay with that because I was planning on it anyway, to upgrade to the 64-bit version. The problem is, how do I do that? I have the disk to install the new copy, but when I go to install it, it tells me I can't and to check the log file. However, I don't know where that log file is, and it wiped my install of Windows out. How do I find the file and as a different route to get to the goal, how do I zero out the drive from Ubuntu 12.04? (I installed the 64-bit version just the other day)

  Trying to get casperjs running on Ubuntu 12.04. But when I run it I get "No such file". I can fix it by changing the first line of the casperjs python file from: #!/usr/bin/env python to: #!/usr/bin/python Result: $ casperjs --version 1.1.0-DEV I managed to fix it, but I'm wondering why it didn't work with #!/usr/bin/env python, since that seems to be a normal interpreter line. Do I have something configured wrong? • Ubuntu 12.04 LTS , Dell d410 output to External Monitor/TV with docking

  I am not able to see the video output on My external monitor/TV after installing 12.04 LTS. I had the same issue with 11 versions also. This issue does not happen on 10.04 LTS version. This is my setup. Dell latitude D410 with Intel Mobile 915 GM/910GML express controller using the Dell docking station Connecting to my 42inch TV with DVI (from Docking) to HDMI cable (on TV) If i close the lid, some times i am able to see the video output on TV, but the resolution is making the fonts so small, i cannot even see it and when i click displays option to change the resolution, the output goes off completely and it is shown now on the laptop screen. one time, i got the output on both the screens, but i am not able to replicate that scenario even after trying the Fn+F8 key option on my laptop. earlier some time back when i ran version 11.x ubuntu, i was able to get the output on both the screens (basically mirrored output) with large font resolution on my TV using the monitor Test tool as mentioned here :http://www.bigfatostrich.com/2011/05/solved-ubuntu-11-04-broken-external-display/ The problem with this approach is that i have to do it every time i restart the machine and more over the video output is present on both the screens (mirrored), which is of no use. As i stated before, this does not happen with 10.04 LTS. With 10.04 LTS my laptop screen is off automatically and the output is seen on TV/external display. Can anyone share any options that i can try? How can we achieve the behavior of 10.04 LTS with respect to the External display on 12.04 LTS . Thankyou very much for your help in advance.

• A good tool for browser automation/client-side Web scripting

  I'm interested in adopting a tool/scripting language to automate some daily tasks connected with fighting forum spammers. A brief overview of these tasks: analyze new registrations and posts on a phpBB forum, and delete or deactivate spammers using a website/community that collects such spam reports. Typically such automation is integrated into the phpBB installation itself, which certainly has its advantages. My approach has the advantage of independent operation, etc. One way to think about this is in terms of browser automation. I've used iOpus iMacros for Firefox (the free version) in the past to respond to individual spammers, but current attacks are highly distributed. My "logic" for pigeonholing spammers vs. nonspammers seems beyond the easy reach of the free version of iMacros. From a more technical perspective one can think about dispensing with the browser altogether and programming GET/POST requests directed to my forum and other Web-based resources. I'm familiar with some scripting languages like Ruby and Lua, but I could be persuaded that a compiled application is better suited for these tasks. However in my experience the dynamic flexibility of interpreted environments is very useful in prototyping and debugging the application logic. So I'm leaning in the direction of scripting languages. Among browsers I favor Firefox and Chrome. I use both Windows and Linux platforms, and if the tool can adapt to an Android platform, it would make a neat demonstration of skills, yes?   I'm pleased to announce that .NET Demon will be shipping simultaneously with Visual Studio 11, whenever it ends up being released. That means we're going to make sure that a version of .NET Demon is released very near to the Visual Studio 11 final release which supports the new version of VS fully. The interesting part of this support is going to be the new dark theme of VS, which I'm looking forward to using. I'm told dark colours reduce eye strain for developers. It's important that extensions like .NET Demon switch to a dark theme when the rest of the IDE changes, or the dark theme will look silly. Unfortunately, none of my favourite extensions look right in the dark theme yet, so even though I use Visual Studio 11 beta for my day-to-day development already, I can't use the dark theme. Luckily .NET Demon uses WPF throughout, and the team at Microsoft are helping us to use the WPF Style system to make it easy for me to implement the support without having to add colour attributes to all the controls manually. We should have dark theme support in .NET Demon in the next month or so.

  I have a brain teaser that i can't solve. When 12.04 (64bits) came out, i did a fresh install and then installed bumblebee with: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia And Ubuntu recognized (System Settings - Details) Intel Card for primary card, and i could launch applications with optirun. I have: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT 520MX] (rev ff) Now, a few days back, i did the exact same thing, installed from the same DVD everything the same, installed bumblebee the same way. Nvidia with Optirun works fine, but Ubuntu doesn't have 3D effects: root@deathstar:~# optirun /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GeForce GT 520MX/PCIe/SSE2 OpenGL version string: 4.2.0 NVIDIA 295.40 Not software rendered: yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: no GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program: yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object: yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: no I never did anything to install Intel drivers (except installing mesa-utils), before bumblebee got everything working, but now i can't get Ubuntu to get Unity with 3D. • Ubuntu and racadm

  I recently purchased a used poweredge 1850 server and it came with a DRAC card. After wiping the HDD and installing ubuntu server 12.04.3 LTS amd64 on it, I am now trying to gain access to the DRAC which I believe is version 4. I have properly configured the DRAC to use it's own IP on my LAN and when I point my browser to the IP address, I am greeted with the DRAC login page (it has the dell logo and everything). However, after trying the credentials of root/calvin, I was denied access. So I think that the previous owners had set their own password. After doing some reading, it appears that I can reset the credentials to the default using racadm config -g cfgUserAdmin -o cfgUserAdminPassword -i 1 newpassword but upon entering the command, I get this error: bash: /usr/sbin/racadm: No such file or directory This holds true even if I run sudo su prior to running the racadm command. If, however, I run sudo racadm config -g cfgUserAdmin -o cfgUserAdminPassword -i 1 newpassword there are no errors. Yet, when I try to log into the DRAC via the web interface using the credentials of root/newpassword I am still not granted access. I installed the dell utilities via the guide at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportMachinesServersDellNotes. I first tried to install the 64 bit version that is on the dell repositories, but after that was unsuccessful, I just followed the guide verbatim. No errors were produced in either case. I even followed the information at the bottom of the guide by executing sudo pppd /dev/ttyS1 1382400 crtscts noipdefault noauth lock persist connect 'chat -v "" CLIENT CLIENTSERVER "\\c"' but obviously, replacing the /dev/ttyS1 with the correct information for my system. ls -l /usr/sbin/ | grep racadm yields -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 87930 Sep 16 04:03 racadm I have tried these credentials after each attempt of changing the password: root/calvin root/newpassword admin/calvin admin/newpassword All have been unsuccessful. What is the next course of action that I should take?

• Can't (re)Install VLC (removed by update{again})

  I use VLC a lot, And When 2.0 came out Ubuntu did not update to that version, the REPO had the older version even months later, So I added the daily repo: http://ppa.launchpad.net/videolan/stable-daily/ubuntu and that worked for a while, after a few months later I received a 'Distribution upgrade' and when I installed it, it removed VLC. when I tried to re-install it gave me a bunch of unmet dependency's, so I disabled the source, ran apt-get update, and tried to install the older VLC, that did not work either. • Unable to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 on Virtualbox on Windows 7 Host

  I would like to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 in a virtual box on windows 7 host however I get a black screen after selecting to install Ubuntu i.e. right after choosing English language I have tried the 32bit and 64bit version desktop version, have also read thru some guides e.g. http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/virtualbox but I could not find any solution to fix this problem. BTW I have Ubuntu installed using Virtual PC (not running at the same time), also I have mac OS (mountain lion) installed using Virtual Box so I do not think it is a problem with the virtual box or windows 7 host. My VM configuration is with 1 core and 1 GB of ram using 20GB VDI; rest is default config. My hardware is Core i7 3770k / Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe / GSkill 32GB which I believe should be more than sufficient to run another VM. I have moved my user profile from SSD to HDD via junction however IMHO it should not matter. Has anyone else come across this problem and found a solution? Any help/thoughts on how to solve this would be very much appreciated.

• 12.04.1 no audio through HDMI

  having a bit of an issue with getting audio to go through HDMI. Here are the base specs: OS: Ubuntu Desktop 12.04.1 x64 CPU: AMD A10-5800K 3.8G 4M FM2 R Mobo: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 OS: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Vid Card: (integrated on CPU) AMD Radeon HD 7660D HDMI sound works fine under Win7 (after mobo and vid drivers are installed), so it's not physically broken. Audio through the normal headphone jacks works fine under Ubuntu. Looking at the audio panel, there is no HDMI output at all. aplay -l also reports only: card 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 In additional drivers there are two versions: ATI/AMD PROPRIETARY FGLRX GRAPHICS DRIVER ATI/AMD PROPRIETARY FGLRX GRAPHICS DRIVER (post-release update) The first installs, but problem persists. I do get more resolutions to pick from. Second version does not, reporting it failed installation and to find details at: /var/log/jockey.log Looked at the log, and it's insanely long, if necessary I can get it to you guys. Did more research and some had luck by manually installing the drivers, so tried to give that a shot by following this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#Manually_installing_Catalyst_12.6 starting at 3.1 Manually installing Catalyst 12.6. I immediately had 2 issues, (1) the AMD website does not provide any drivers for Linux, and (2) the following command did not work: sudo sh amd-driver-installer-12-6-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise sh: 0: Can't open amd-driver-installer-12-6-x86.x86_64.run Some other posts stated to update "alsa-drivers", but that also did not work as install command for the new version of them did not work. I forget the exact issue, but similar to above, cannot open / cannot find. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• Webmaster Tools, www and no-www, duplicate content and subdomains

  I have not come to any conclusive answers on the following after many hours of research on many websites to the specific issue that I am trying to figure out. My company has two websites a main one at www.example.com and one at subdomain.example.com which is a subdomain of the first and is our self hosted blog. The way Google sees these with the www or no-www (called naked for now on) is that each of these actually are different when the www or naked version is used/not used in the front of the domain. I completely understand this. It is also advised that both should be set up in the Google Webmaster Tools, which I have done. Correct me if I am wrong on that in regard to having both set up. Now the way it appears is that we can set a preferred domain up in Webmaster Tools only at the root domain level. The subdomain can not have this and actually says the following "Restricted to root level domains only". So it appears that the domain should follow what the root domain says which on our preferred one says to display the www.example.com. and not the naked version. That is one issue I have in that one displays one way and the other displays another. Is it that we have the wrong redirects in place for the subdomain? Another question is does this have any affect on SEO in regards to duplicate content on the web in how we have set this up?
