• jQuery $.post & $.append & IE6

  I'm having a weird problem with jQuery and IE6. Script works on IE7+ and with all other browsers I have tried it. I can't post the full script, but what it does is this: $.post("file.php",{'foo':'bar'},function(data){ $('#target').append(data) }) When I run the code in IE6, #target just shows ? and a white char with a hole in the middle. I have no idea what this second char is. My initial thought was that this was some sort of content-type problem because the file.php just echoes answer without any header information. I added Content-type: text/html with header() but didn't help. Any suggestions?

  Hi experts, I am trying to make a SSL connection to a web site. Each time I enter the https:// address and press enter, the IE8 prompts me to select the Certificate (Client Certificate) to send to the server. I got 2 certificates to choose from. And they are stored in the IE8 - Internet Options - Content - Certificates - Personal. Since my server and client are the same machine, I want to use a single certificate for both server and client. And this certificate is a IIS generated self signed certificate. I do the following steps: 1- Generate a self-signed-cert in IIS; 2- Bind my site to https and choose the above self-signed-cert 3- Import the self-signed-cert at the IE8 - Internet Options - Content - Certificates - Personal. Then I use the https link to access my page, it is still prompts me to choose a certificate. But I cannot see my newly imported self-signed-cert. Why?

• Ajax progress with PHP session

  I have an app that processes images and use jQuery to display progress to the user. I done this with writing to a textfile each time and image is processed and than read this status with a setInterval. Because no images are actually written in the processing (I do it in PHP's memory) I thought a log.txt would be a solution, but I am not sure about all the fopen and fread's. Is this prone to issues? I tried also with PHP sessions, but can't seem to get it to work, I don't get why..   I've got a MainPage.xaml page a Detail.xaml page. I've passed variables to the Detail.xaml from MainPage.xaml by using a static variable and referencing it in Detail.xaml (the detail page is acting like a dialog). However once I've updated the content of another object, I want to call a method in MainPage.xaml to refresh the content of that page using the updated object from the Detail.xaml page. I assume I am not using the correct paradigm for this and should probably be using MVVM or something but I'm not familiar with the implementation and was hoping there was a simple way to do this?

  I wrote a cgi-script with c++ to return the query-string back to the requesting ajax object. I also write the query-string in a file in order to see if the cgi script works correctly.   I developed a web app that responds with data in the format as specified by the client in the HTTP Accept Headers. Everything worked fine while using Firefox, but when I wanted to check my CSS / HTML on Chrome and IE, both of them wanted to download the index page, as if it's an unknown content type. After some research I found this article, which states that IE sends out a lot of crud in it's HTTP Accept headers, amongst others a list of image/* content types right at the start. This caused my web app to try to send the index page as an image/jpeg. So how do I know when to ignore and when to use the Accept Headers?

  Hello All, Is it possible to switch HTML on click? I have an index page with a large image on the front. Under the image there is four links. When the cursor rolls over the link I would like a small tool tip to appear. Then when the clicks the link I want the large Image to change and some extra HTML to appear over it. (just a small content box) The tooltip I think I have sorted using Jquery but I'm not sure how I can change the image [b]AND[/b] add a small content box over the image. Thanks in advanced everyone.

• How to handle "100 continue" HTTP message ?

  Hello, I'm writing a simplistic HTTP server that will accept PUT requests mostly from cURL as client and I'm having a bit of an issue with handling the "Expect: 100-continue" header. As I understand it, the server is supposed to read the header, send back a "HTTP/1.1 100 Continue" response on the connection, read the stream up to the value on "Content-Length" and then send back the real response code (Usually "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" but any other valid HTTP answer should do). Well, that's exactly what my server does. The problem is that, apparently, if I send a "100 Continue" answer, cURL fails to report any subsequent HTTP error code and assumes the upload was a success. For instance, if the upload is rejected due to the nature of the content (there is a basic data check happening), I want the calling client to detect the problem and act accordingly. Am I missing something obvious ? Thanks

For some reason, Urban Airship is making each character of the string into its own tag. I've tried to substitute the - for a string neg with the same results. What's wrong?

• whats the point of using template?

  I am under the impression that if I set it as a template in Dreamweaver, any changes made should be saved to a new filename. I've copied the "template" that I made and sometimes I forget to save it as a different file name and it would overwrite previous web content. I just don't get the point of "save as template" if it works just like a document... it doesn't force me to save as a different filename. Common sense in me thinks that the software should evaluate like this, "if this is a template, always save as a different filename when it's modified so nothing is changed to the template, but rather a new file is created with the new content following that template." Am I missing something? Am I always doomed to using Save As...?

• Video playback with jQuery Mobile and Phonegap

  I'm fairly new to mobile apps, so am trying to knock up a simple video player using Phonegap and jQuery Mobile. The problem is, jQuery mobile appears to be blocking the video playback for some reason. I don't know jQuery mobile at all, but searching in the js for a reference to the video elements doesn't show up, so I've no idea what is blocking it. The code works fine in Chrome and Firefox. There are no console messages in Xcode. I also tried hooking up to http://debug.phonegap.com/ but this gave no error messages either. Any ideas??
